00:00You know, you can read a million articles that'll tell you,
00:04hey, the Browns had an A draft.
00:06Oh, man, this is the best draft ever.
00:08And that's coming off a year from last year.
00:10And you're hearing a lot of that.
00:11Yeah, and people thought, oh, last year was the best draft ever,
00:14especially for Andrew Barry, who looks now like he's gone two for two.
00:18I agree with Mary Kay.
00:19I think on paper, this one looks better.
00:23But we're on paper right now.
00:24Yeah, I know.
00:24That's the other problem.
00:26I'm still trying to figure out why they took two quarterbacks
00:28in the third and the fifth last year, but that's another story.
00:31But both ended up starting.
00:33Yeah, not very well.
00:34And you only had five wins.
00:36We're saying that last year's draft was great,
00:38but yet they only ended up with five wins
00:40because we allow for rookie time, right?
00:42Is that what it is?
00:43There's flexibility there.
00:45I like the feel of this draft better than last year's.
00:48Okay, I do too, Jeff, but I also don't think we have a quarterback.
00:55Or I think they don't think they have a quarterback.
00:58Do you think that?
00:59Or do you think that they just haven't determined which one it's going to be yet?
01:04Andy, I think they think they have a quarterback,
01:07whether it's Deshaun or Shadour, or whether we're stunned and it's Dylan.
01:14I don't know.
01:16I'm just thinking of the press conferences that we've heard over the last couple weeks.
01:20Todd Munkin is not going to name anybody yet.
01:23No, and I'm not.
01:24I mean, Todd's even brought Gabriel back into the mix for us on this.
01:28Saying nice things about Dylan, which is good.
01:32Give the kid, I mean, why would you say, yeah, Dylan's out of this?
01:36Okay, great, thanks.
01:37Glad I'm coming to camp.
01:38No, and then two guys get hurt right away,
01:40and then all of a sudden, yeah, I was your third choice.
01:43And by the way, I mean, you're bringing in another quarterback,
01:46so do they assume that he's going to go to the practice squad?
01:51I don't know.
01:52A lot of raw talent there.
01:53It sounds like he could be a lot of fun.
01:57I was chatting with a buddy today who made a great point.
02:00He played at Boise State and then transferred to Louisville.
02:09Or, excuse me, to Arkansas.
02:11Taylor Greene's what we're talking about.
02:12And coach at Arkansas was Bobby Petrino.
02:17Bobby Petrino used to coach at Louisville,
02:21where he coached Lamar Jackson,
02:23who played for Todd Munkin the last three years.
02:28It's connecting some odd dots.
02:30But, you know, does Todd think, hey, similar skill set to Lamar Jackson,
02:40and Todd coached him up to an MVP season.
02:43Just an interesting thing.
02:45And, you know, maybe Greene decides he's going to Arkansas
02:48because Petrino had such great success in coaching up Lamar Jackson.
02:53Interesting, though.
02:55Again, sixth-round pick.
02:57I'll say the same thing about Greene that we all said about Shadour,
03:01and you should say about both of these guys.
03:04And that is you don't draft a quarterback in the third or fifth or sixth round
03:11and think that you have found your franchise quarterback.
03:15Doesn't mean you can't get lucky.
03:18But Browns have just brought in another quarterback,
03:20and we'll see what skills he's able to bring to the game.
03:27I'm just intrigued.
03:28I'm intrigued by his speed.
03:30I'm intrigued by his size.
03:31His arm.
03:33Andy, he's the total physical package here.
03:38I mean, seriously.
03:39This guy's got it.
03:41But does that mean you can play quarterback in the NFL?
03:44No.
03:45Yeah, there was a major writer that came back and said they thought
03:48they were super surprised at where he got drafted
03:50because they thought they'd get drafted earlier.
03:52Well, he was the freak of the combine.
03:54Yeah.
03:56I don't know.
03:57It could be interesting.
03:59I mean, we could be.
03:59Knowing the Browns, he'll probably get to play next year.
04:02He'll probably start week 15, 16, 17.
04:04Don't start, please.
04:06Come on, man.
04:07You've seen this team.
04:08We know how this thing works.
04:09Don't start.
04:11Don't start on being truthful.
04:13Don't start on.
04:14If you're a quarterback on the Browns roster.
04:15Don't start on looking negatively.
04:17I'm not being negative.
04:18I mean.
04:18Hopefully.
04:19And I'm not saying.
04:20Fill in the blank is the starting quarterback and he's healthy and plays 16, 17 games and
04:25does a fine job quarterbacking our Cleveland Browns.
04:28But even you saying that someone's going to play 16 games means that you're going to
04:33need a second quarterback somewhere along the way.
04:35Well, it's because you're sitting him in week 17.
04:37Oh, because.
04:38So, because you're getting ready for the playoffs.
04:40Well, it doesn't matter.
04:40You still need another quarterback to get into that situation.
04:43That's what Dylan's here for.
04:44I mean, really, this is where we are, though, still.
04:46They could do a wonderful job with wide receivers and running backs and, you know, even defensive
04:53players that they think can put points on the board.
04:56If you don't have the quarterback, it doesn't matter.
04:58My pre-draft off the wall thought apparently won't come true.
05:02And I didn't think it would, but I still look at Jalen Milrow and think.
05:09Boy, I wish that guy were here.
05:13I just don't think they have the talented quarterback at this point.
05:18It's not even maybe I don't think that.
05:20Andy, you do have one guy.
05:21They haven't given me any reason to believe that they believe in any one of these quarterbacks.
05:27And so, maybe that's why I feel the way I feel.
05:29Nor should you believe in any one of these quarterbacks.
05:34Well, why would you?
05:36First of all, Jalen Green's a sixth-round rookie.
05:39Okay, just put him to the side.
05:40Right.
05:41Todd Munkin's going to have a lot of fun seeing if he can coach him up.
05:45Put him away.
05:46Dylan Gabriel was okay last year.
05:50Did a nice job protecting the football, as Mary Kay wrote.
05:53She had a nice piece about the quarterbacks.
05:56He had the best quarterback ranking of the guys who played quarterback for the Browns last year.
06:00But he didn't push the ball downfield through two interceptions.
06:04And Shadour's quarterback ranking was less than through ten interceptions.
06:09Might have thrown it downfield.
06:11Great.
06:12And that's wonderful.
06:14Except if you throw it downfield and you get intercepted ten times, that's not what you're looking for either.
06:19So, neither rookie last year showed you anything that would make you think, yep, he's absolutely the guy.
06:27Deshaun's absolutely the guy.
06:29If he's healthy and is able to play at a level that even comes close to what he played, even
06:36for the Browns, Andy.
06:38And he wasn't good here.
06:40If he can come back and play even close to what he did when he was healthy here, he's going
06:46to be your starting quarterback, I think.
06:48Are we going to get a true read on Concepcion in Boston based on the quarterback?
06:55That's my other dilemma here.
06:58They bring in two good wide receivers.
07:00We all think that these guys are, you know, first round grade, and even though one was picked in the
07:05first round of Concepcion,
07:06that both of these guys can have a huge impact on the game and they're able to do this.
07:11But, again, if they have bad quarterback play and they can't get them the ball or a ball that's out
07:19of...
07:19Like, if you're a quarterback that people are questioning whether they can catch the ball or not,
07:23now all of a sudden they can get a fingertip on the ball but they don't make a catch.
07:27Now who are we blaming?
07:28Then you say, well, if you can get your hand on the ball, you should be able to catch the
07:31ball.
07:31It's just like...
07:32Your quarterback play should be better because your offensive line play should be much better.
07:39And your quarterbacks are, if it's one of the two young guys, more experienced than they were.
07:45And if it's Deshaun, then they deem him healthy enough to be a contributor.
07:51So your quarterback play should be better.
07:53And you have more wide receiving talent, I think, after bringing in Boston and Concepcion.
08:02So, Andy, everything...
08:04The offense, he did a nice job.
08:06He brought in eight players on top of what he did in free agency in a trade.
08:12So, right now, automatically, there are four new starters on that offensive line.
08:17It's just a matter of where those guys are going to be.
08:20Elton Jenkins going to be at center?
08:22Maybe.
08:23Zion Johnson at left guard?
08:25Unless Joel Batonio has a change of heart?
08:27Absolutely.
08:27And then you wonder, what are you going to do with Zion Johnson?
08:31I would think maybe move him to right guard, play Jenkins at center, and play Titus Howard at right tackle.
08:37Then go play football.
08:40And Tevin Jenkins becomes your swing guy.
08:43Tevin Jenkins was the second-round draft choice.
08:46You know what I mean?
08:47They have some guys who are highly thought of.
08:50Zion Johnson was the first-round draft choice.
08:52Titus Howard was the first-round draft choice.
08:57When you look at the wide receiving room now, and again, I don't know if we get a true feel
09:01for the wide receiving room if they don't feel they have the quarterback to get them the ball.
09:05Like, it could be night and day with some of the wide receivers.
09:08Maybe some guys, you know, like, can play better with Shadour.
09:13Maybe some guys can play better with Deshaun.
09:15Maybe some guys play better with Dillon.
09:18And if you don't have a true feel for what your quarterback is, I'm just questioning if you're going to
09:23be able to get a true feel for your wide receivers, especially knowing that you spent first and second-round
09:27picks on those guys.
09:29My other question, too, is Cedric Tillman and what this means for him.
09:35It means he better get his act together.
09:37That's what it means.
09:39Same thing with Isaiah Bond.
09:41Yeah, but they paid Isaiah a lot of money on this stuff, too.
09:43Hey, Andy, you need five or six wide receivers in the NFL.
09:48True.
09:49Honestly, I can look at the wide receiving group right now and be very content with it.
09:54The only thing the wide receiving crew is missing right now, in my estimation, is veteran experience.
10:02That's it.
10:03You have Jerry Judy, and that's it.
10:06You've got two rookies.
10:08You have a second-year guy in Cedric's in his third or fourth year.
