00:00It really starts with giving a ton of credit to our scouting staff, our research analysts,
00:06our coaches, everyone who worked so hard over the past several months to put together the
00:11best plan possible going into the weekend, and then ultimately executing on it.
00:17Andrew Barry yesterday on the Draft Review Show, and of course I forgot my effing folder.
00:22I'm so mad at myself right now.
00:24I have my great manila folder, all my stuff.
00:27Do you have a dot system? Orange dots?
00:30I should have a dot system on my folders.
00:33Because I had the whole thing set up.
00:35I had my whole list of quarterbacks.
00:36And yes, I've already made a list of the 2027 quarterbacks.
00:39I don't give a damn.
00:40I always have to be prepared.
00:41Sorry.
00:42I'm not going to do it like that and go, well, it's got to be Shadour or nobody.
00:44No, I'm not doing that.
00:45You don't think the Browns have done that?
00:47Yeah, of course they have.
00:49Hell yeah, they have.
00:50Why would anybody be mad at you doing it?
00:51There's people out there who believe that we're still going after a veteran.
00:54I'm not one of them, but there's still people who believe that.
00:56Hell, I tell you what, this is kind of off the cuff here.
01:01I think Talon Green might have already made the 53-man roster.
01:08Based on some of the stuff that's been said.
01:10Based on some of the stuff that I heard from Nathan yesterday.
01:13Based on what Andrew Barry said about him yesterday.
01:1616 in there, if you can.
01:18Yeah, here's Andrew Barry on yesterday's show.
01:20Yeah, he's got elite physical characteristics and elite makeup.
01:25He does need more polish and development at the position, like all these guys do.
01:28All these guys are going to.
01:29There's no ready-made player that comes into the NFL.
01:32But we felt like a player with Talon's tools, as well as his makeup, at the most important position.
01:40That's the type of swing that we want to take and the type of player that we want to spend
01:44some time with and see if we can develop.
01:46And so we're excited to get him in here next week and get going.
01:51You see what Todd Munkin has done with his career when it comes to quarterbacks.
01:56And I'm like, I tell you, I said something to Nathan yesterday.
01:59He's like, well, you know, he's a six-round pick.
02:00If you can stash him on the P squad or something like that.
02:03And he kind of gave me a look like, oh, okay.
02:06And I think that he would be, because I just haven't seen him since Arkansas.
02:12And we've seen a lot of guys play at a high level in college and they get to the pros.
02:16I'm sorry, Dylan Gabriel played at a high level in college.
02:19Yeah, he did.
02:19Got to the pros and he looked lost out there.
02:21Now, this guy's 6'6 and can take off with it and go do some things and that might be
02:25able to help him.
02:26But I don't just want to necessarily squeeze him right in and say, yeah, he's definitely going to be the
02:30emergency quarterback on the 53-man roster.
02:34I don't think Dylan Gabriel will be here very much longer.
02:37So there makes room for that.
02:38I think the four-quarterback type of thing, I think that's a little bit overblown.
02:42I think that they'll work with Talon Green.
02:43I think they'll work with their starter and they'll work with their backup and they'll work with Talon Green.
02:47And I think that Dylan Gabriel gets relegated to probably throwing the footballs to the ballboys like Shador was last
02:54year, apparently.
02:55That's where I think that that happens with Dylan Gabriel.
02:58So it does leave a spot open and maybe Talon Green would be there.
03:02I just don't want to put carts before horses on six-round picks.
03:05He's got a lot of great physical attributes that you would like about a quarterback.
03:09He's a very large individual.
03:10Well, the 4-3-7 in the 40.
03:13Yes.
03:13And he had a 9.9 out of 10 on the athletic score.
03:16Yeah.
03:17And some of the games that he had, like Nathan cited the Notre Dame game.
03:20I don't want to cite the Notre Dame game.
03:21I mean, that thing was a blowout in the first half.
03:23And I think Notre Dame's still scoring on Arkansas in that game.
03:27But there are a lot of other games.
03:28It's like, man, he really was a one-man show on their offense.
03:32And they do try to take it seriously down at Arkansas.
03:34I do think it's a take-the-checks, take-the-losses type of program.
03:38But I think they do try.
03:40And he was a hell of a quarterback for them.
03:42So I want to see what he's able to do within our system, within our offense.
03:47I just want to make sure, because I'm excited about him.
03:49And I'm not going to say, what, 53-man, 53-man.
03:51I don't know that just yet.
03:53There was a bunch of turnovers last year.
03:56Maybe that stunts his growth a little bit.
03:59Because the ball is always going to be in his hands, so there's bound to be more turnovers.
04:02But maybe that stunts his growth a little bit.
04:04I just don't want to put carts before horses and say, absolutely, he's on the 53-man roster.
04:09Not just yet.
04:10But they seem to be really excited about him.
04:11And that's something I want to ask Daniel Yafusi.
04:13Is he already on the 53-man roster, even as a six-round pick, to be the emergency quarterback for
04:19this football team?
04:19Because normally you would think a guy like this would be a luxury.
04:23Like, the really good teams could kind of throw him on there or whatever because they're so loaded with talent.
04:29Like, the Browns have to be optimal with the way they use their talent.
04:33But when I start hearing things like punt return before this guy, too, they talked about him being able to
04:39do everything.
04:40Well, he almost had 800 yards rushing last year.
04:44He had several games where I think he had two touchdowns on the ground.
04:48It was his feet that kept him in games at times.
04:51There was times where he had three touchdowns passing.
04:53Like, I don't think he's as rough as what some people make him out to be.
04:57I just think that we've gotten so used to arguing about quarterbacks that maybe there's a strong sentiment for him
05:04and then a strong sentiment against him because quarterbacks are polarizing.
05:07So I want to know from Daniel how he sees he's going to be.
05:10And obviously, like, we hear good things from Andrew Barry.
05:12That's why they took the guy at day three.
05:14And I thought it was an exciting pick, and I was excited when they took him.
05:16And I'm going to be excited to see him coming up in training camp.
05:19I get to miss him in rookie camp because I'll be coming back from wherever the hell we're going.
05:23But I'm excited to see him in OTAs and mini camps and training camp, obviously.
05:29I know we got into the big debate yesterday about whether he should convert and start training at other positions.
05:34And you were steadfast against that completely.
05:39But at the same time, I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't thoroughly excited about seeing him.
05:46Now, I do have a question.
05:47Like, he's going to be 24 this year during the season.
05:52Does that change?
05:54Because his clock, like, we're all saying he's not remote.
05:56Like, if he were to do the quarterback thing.
05:59If he's not remotely ready to be quarterback this year at 24, and Joe Burrow was 24 in his first
06:04year,
06:04and he was considered elderly when he came in.
06:07So if he's not remotely ready now, that's age 24, then that means he's definitely not going to be ready
06:12the following year, 25.
06:14Now we're talking about if he would really, if a team would be open to giving him a shot at
06:21actually playing quarterback.
06:22And maybe he got lucky.
06:24Maybe he got thrown into some games because of injuries and because 64 quarterbacks get to go every single year
06:29now in the NFL.
06:32Like, you're just wondering what the runway.
06:34Like, I would understand.
06:35What was Anthony Richardson, you know, when he got drafted?
06:38He was so young, right?
06:39Yeah.
06:40So this is not that.
06:42This is more the Joe Burrow age realms.
06:45That's why I just find it hard to believe he's ever going to truly get a shot.
06:49I'm glad you brought this up.
06:50A real shot, the odds are slim.
06:52He's a six-round choice.
06:54A chance to start, the odds are better than a lot of people probably think.
06:58I mean, we're talking about a team that I think they can be better than they were last year.
07:03The schedule would say so.
07:04I think the talent would say more about that.
07:06However, you have a bunch of injuries out there.
07:09God forbid something bad happens.
07:10You could get to the end, and I think that there's always going to be, there's a lot
07:14of people who aren't big on Deshaun Watson.
07:17There's half the group, I think, that's not very big on Shador Sanders.
07:20You could get to the final couple of weeks of the year and see that neither of these guys
07:24are the answer and go, fine, let's see what Taylor Greene has here by the end of the season
07:27before we move on to 2027.
07:29Just like they've done in the past with other guys.
07:31So there is a distinct possibility he could play for this football team.
07:34But I'm glad you brought up the age thing.
07:36Because this is something that we brought up before.
07:37We always, you know, they always have to test their guardrails.
07:41We have to test our guardrails with what we say about them.
07:43Because I, yeah, they do want younger football players.
07:46And they've shown in the past that they've wanted younger football players.
07:49Both when Andrew Barry's been the general manager, and when Andrew Barry was one of the
07:53assistant general managers back in the day before he came over here, back to be the
07:57GM of the Cleveland Browns.
07:58Or, I don't know if he was an assistant GM in Cleveland before, but I know he was, I think,
08:02in Philly.
08:02Either way, when he came back here to be working with the Cleveland Browns, when you
08:07have a guy who doesn't test his guardrails, you find yourself behind.
08:12They have to look at what college football has become.
08:15Where guys are older, especially guys who are in the back end of the draft, day three
08:19of the draft.
08:20You're looking at a lot of guys who, compared to where we were drafted years ago, these
08:24are old fogies.
08:2524 years old?
08:27I mean, we've taken guys who are 20.
08:31But, when you look at a 24-year-old...
08:33What was Najoku when he came in?
08:34He was 20 years old.
08:35He was not a drinking age yet.
08:36His birthday's in July.
08:38And I think of that, and I go to this, and I go, well, it's a back end first round
08:42pick,
08:42or a back end day three pick in the draft, I should say, which was a six round pick.
08:46But it's also, you got guys staying for longer now because they can make money.
08:50Why put off having to go make a team when you have a ready-made spot and you can make
08:55$500,000, depending on what team you play with, where you can go make money?
08:58So, you're going to have guys try to expand their eligibility as much as they can, extend
09:04it as much as they can, so they can make it.
09:06So, yeah, you're going to have to take some guys.
09:07If you want to take a quarterback on day three, you're going to have to take a guy who's 24,
09:12maybe even 25 years old.
09:14I mean, that's how Indiana won a national championship.
09:17They played with a bunch of grown men on that football team.
09:19So, I think our ideas of young guys got to change.
09:23You're 100% right.
09:25And if Talon Green plays for our football team, say he makes the team, and he makes
09:28the team year after year, and say he becomes a gadget player for us, a Taysom Hill player
09:33for us, you get five years out of the guy by the time he's 29 and maybe his body starts
09:36to fail you.
09:37Six round pick, that's a win.
09:38That is a win a thousand times over.
09:41Because I bring this up with Donovan Peoples-Jones.
09:43That's for the Browns.
09:44That people can even be disappointed in Donovan Peoples-Jones in the sixth round.
09:47Tells me he was a good choice.
09:48I want to know, though, and getting back to our argument yesterday, and we don't need
09:52to kick and scream about it, but if I'm advising him, and look, everybody wants to be quarterback
09:58in the NFL, there's a reason that people will do whatever it takes at that position, first
10:03and foremost.
10:03Nobody wants to be told that you're not, you know, that premium position.
10:08At the same time, what would you ballpark the estimate that he could actually become
10:13a starting quarterback in this league?
10:15Like, go into a season...
10:16Less than 10%.
10:17Well, I was going to say, I was going to say less than five.
10:20I'm being generous.
10:21But if...
10:21You know me.
10:22But if I then said, with that athleticism, and I used the Terrell Pryor example, there
10:26aren't a lot.
10:27There are very few examples.
10:29Who was the, who was the white wide receiver with Jacksonville back in the day?
10:36Matt Jones?
10:37Yes, okay.
10:37I'm thinking of Matt Jones.
10:38Thanks for bailing me out there.
10:39He was quarterback for Arkansas, if I'm not mistaken.
10:41Oh, okay.
10:41So yeah, it works out.
10:42Uh-huh.
10:43What are the odds if he were to transition to wide receiver, or to slash, or athlete,
10:51or whatever, that he would have a chance to stick and actually get another contract if
10:56he did it now?
10:57If he devoted his life's work to moving now?
11:01But this is what could get him on the roster.
11:02I don't have to do that right now.
11:04See, that's where I disagree with you.
11:05No, you as the Browns don't have to do it.
11:07I understand.
11:07I'm talking about him and his future.
11:09I understand, but I took him as a quarterback, but what I'm saying is, is you're such an
11:13athlete.
11:14Let's find a way to get you on the field.
11:16And if that means getting you on the field in certain packages, and you could be an emergency
11:22QB, and I got to check the rules because I got to see if I'm, if what I'm saying, I
11:25could actually back up about the emergency QB thing.
11:27But if there's days where it's like, hey man, he's a tight end who could end up playing
11:31quarterback.
11:31Okay.
11:33Let's see him in certain packages there.
11:35H bag.
11:35Let's see him in certain packages lined up.
11:37Like there's certain things that you can try to do with a guy.
11:39So let's see.
11:41I imagine he has a high football IQ.
11:43Okay.
11:44So if I'm going to have a high football IQ, cause you have to learn a different, a lot
11:46of different things.
11:48And they took him in the sixth round.
11:50If you have a high football IQ, then do what you can to make sure I can get you on
11:55the field.
11:55Like that's the first and foremost thing.
11:57So it's not just where you're a typical drop back QB.
12:00I can find those just about anywhere.
12:01Yeah.
12:01But if I got a weapon like you and I see your athleticism and I go, this guy, there's
12:07something here that I want to tap into at some point during this season, you're a six
12:11round pick.
12:12We're in no hurry to get you on the field in games that matter right off the tippy top.
12:16But maybe in September, all of a sudden, okay, you know what?
12:20We're going to, we're going to, we're going to run a series of plays here.
12:23And at some point in this series, we're going to bring out Taylor green and he's going to
12:27do something here.
12:27And I don't even know how we're going to use him.
12:29Maybe we'll just, maybe we'll just run a simple draw with him and he's going to hand the ball
12:32off to Quinn Sean Jenkins.
12:34But I got something on tape that now you have to plan for and you have to see some, and
12:38that
12:38throws it off.
12:39I agree with you.
12:40I listen, we don't, we're not disagreeing on any of this.
12:41I think that stuff could be really, really exciting.
12:44I can't wait to see him in training camp.
12:45I can't wait.
12:46And I, I'll tell you one thing I was definitely wrong.
12:48And I will go back on from yesterday.
12:50You mentioned train like training camp and preseason game.
12:53Fine.
12:54Throw them out there quarterback in the preseason game.
12:56Like I do want to see that.
12:57I'd also like to see them line up elsewhere.
12:59The second half of preseason games are going to be the, I know they were a big deal last
13:02year, considering these are a big damn deal for me this year.
13:05I'm going to have a lot of fun watching them.
13:07Yeah.
13:07Like I'll be at the feast was popular, but I'll be at the feast and you know what?
13:10I'll actually watch the second half of a Browns preseason game for once.
13:13Cause when we talked to Todd Munkin personally, like I want to know, like, how do you, how do
13:17you go about getting this guy acclimated?
13:18And then how do you get him on the field?
13:20Cause there's multiple things that you can do for this guy.
13:22And I, if he doesn't work out, he doesn't work out, but I just don't want to waste
13:26the pick.
13:27And I know that this is way off from what we were talking about, but you could tell
13:31how intrigued I am about tailing green, about getting him on the field.
13:34Like, no, I don't think he's going to compete with Deshaun Watson and Inchador Sanders, vice
13:38versa, however you want to take that.
13:40He's not going to compete for the starting job.
13:42And I don't believe he's going to be a starter in the league long-term, but if there's a
13:483% or a 2% chance, that's still a better chance than what a lot of guys have.
13:52So fine, let's see what, let's see what he might have and a way to get this guy on the
13:55field and see whether or not he has something.
13:58We are as open-minded with offenses as we've ever been.
14:00And so there's no reason to close my mind and say, this is why I got so upset yesterday.
14:05There's no reason to close my mind and say, he should be a tight end.
14:08He should be a wide receiver.
14:09He should be an H-back.
14:10You can learn those things and maybe I put him in those places, but he's earned the right
14:14to be a QB first.
