00:00Did you do a tag? An official tag? Did the referee, Danny Davis, see it?
00:06Because then it doesn't count. He didn't see it.
00:09I tagged in.
00:10Okay. Daryl came in with a list.
00:12Ken wanted to swing at me with a baton instead, though.
00:16Alright, hold on. Stay tuned. Daryl has a list. A lengthy list.
00:21And it involves Jimmy Haslam. We'll leave that there.
00:26I want to get to this immediately because we had Giannis news.
00:29The Guardians game was wild last night.
00:32I know Daryl has a lot of thoughts on all of that.
00:34Yeah, is Gabriel Arias still on this team and why?
00:37So, your thoughts on the platinum sombrero?
00:41The 0 for 5 and then not running one out when, what, the bases were loaded
00:46and some people had to brush up on their baseball rules going back to Little League.
00:53Like, can you take off for first base if the bases are loaded?
00:56Well, he showed no hustle and then, of course, Travis Bazzana was legging everything out
01:01as you know he would.
01:03And then he screamed into his glove after the final out. He was so angry.
01:06Yeah, well, that sucked because it was a wild game and you thought they were going to win.
01:10They lost by how they played. They lost guards ball last night.
01:15Oh, no. Oh, no. Daryl, what does that mean?
01:18The White Sox beat them at their own game.
01:22You think so? Well, you think the check swing or the broken bat, the down the line?
01:28Nothing defines guards ball like check swings and broken bats.
01:32And we didn't even talk about, you know, the starting pitching performance
01:36because Gavin Williams came in and people were debating, was it a good performance, was it not?
01:40You know, there were only six base runners, but he only made five or six base runners,
01:44but he only made it, you know, into the fifth.
01:46And for the bar for him, I don't think he met the standard last night.
01:50So that's what they were debating online.
01:52I mean, it was, I guess you could say, I don't even know if I'd go quality,
01:59but it was okay. He's not why they lost, but not to the Gavin Williams standard that we have all.
02:06Well, we also had an official debate.
02:08We'll get to this Browns topic because somebody thinks you won the offseason.
02:13Um, Daryl, hold your guffaws and your, your chuckles.
02:18Uh, I, I, I have to ask because of the banner, not in the mood for that today.
02:21It was asked. We went around the horn here in studio.
02:25Was it a vote loss yesterday?
02:29Yeah, I'm going to put that one.
02:31Why? Why do you think with that lineup that they, with, with three of their top guys all injured?
02:38I have to take that back. That's, that's a front office loss last night.
02:41Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I don't know.
02:44After you just explained the check swing and the broken, broken bat and all that.
02:48Owen called it. It's a baseball loss. It's baseball. It's baseball.
02:51It's a baseball. God's loss.
02:53How many of those did you look at the lineup they fielded last night?
02:56Are you surprised they lost Daryl?
02:58We've been doing that for 25 years.
03:00So that is very fair. That is fair.
03:01So if we're still going back to the cheaps and all that, like I get it.
03:06I agree with you. And yet that's where we've been.
03:09And they compete in that, that version.
03:11I was not going to go the old cheapo route for the Royal you.
03:15Oh yeah. Uh, no, I was going to go the, they,
03:19they are suffering the sins of not developing enough players over the course of the last decade.
03:26They're there. And yet I think they've developed more players than anyone in baseball.
03:30I realized that they're, they're trying to catch up, but the, the gap is so wide.
03:36I go and I look at the, the latest development who's come up now. Right.
03:40And did they really develop Bazzana? I mean, he's number one overall pick.
03:44So now they don't even get credit.
03:45Now they don't get credit.
03:47Let me finish what I was going to say.
03:47I look at him and I go, Oh, he's doing great.
03:50And the all-star voting right now, you know, who's leading that right now for the AL.
03:54Who's that?
03:54It's Ernie Clement.
03:56Oh, okay.
03:57By like 800,000 more votes.
04:02Hey, they did have, he used to play for the guardians.
04:05Yes, he did.
04:05Well, but for the, he's been great in Toronto for the discussion about the line guys.
04:10They did.
04:12They did get miraculous pinch hits by Watson, a Watson in Cleveland.
04:19Bailey.
04:20She had one of the all-time hilarious non-slides you will ever see,
04:25which were, which was completely effective.
04:28Hell, Schneeman pinch hit and got a hit.
04:31Quan pinch hit and walked twice.
04:34So you still lose the game, which stinks.
04:36Anyway, that was a tough loss to swallow last night.
04:39It was absolutely brutal.
04:41And the platinum sombrero.
04:42You don't see a lot of those in a baseball season.
04:45I think only five in guardians history.
04:48Whoa, seriously?
04:49Yeah.
04:50All right.
04:51I, I, I, I think it was Zach Meisel who posted the golden sombrero champions in guardians history.
05:02Okay.
05:02Larry Doby in 1948.
05:04Rick Manning in 1977.
05:07Two famous guys so far.
05:08Jim Tomey.
05:09Three famous.
05:09I've heard of him.
05:10In 2000.
05:11Daniel Johnson.
05:12Remember he was a former Clelander.
05:15You got me.
05:15Uh, 2021, uh, and now Gar, uh, Garrio Arias, uh, here in 2026, by the way, the, the Indian
05:24slash guardians records in games with the golden sombreros.
05:28They're now four in one.
05:29Congratulations.
05:30Garrio Arias is the first guy to strike out five times and they lose normally.
05:34Yeah.
05:35Normally it yields a positive results.
05:36Anyway, Darrell writer in for Ken Carmen, who won the off season in the NFL.
05:42NFL, this from NFL on CBS, uh, Owen, your chiefs number six.
05:49Hey, I'll take it.
05:50The Rams made a pretty big trade in the off season.
05:53They are number four.
05:56Fernando Mendoza and the Raiders are in at number two.
06:01And remember their big trade rescinded with, uh, Max Crosby.
06:06Correct.
06:07That was their biggest move really of the off season.
06:08Yeah.
06:09And, uh, and in the end, I think that's why, you know, they won because they got to keep
06:13their player for now, for now, for now.
06:16And number one, ladies and gentlemen, how did you skip over the number three team?
06:20Oh, the jets.
06:21No love for the J E T S jets, jets, jets.
06:24People think, uh, they could be on Shador Sanders.
06:27Watch get to that later.
06:29Uh, number one on this list, who won the off season?
06:33It's the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Browns folks off season.
06:37Winston, win, dub.
06:42Let's go.
06:44Let's go.
06:46Off season champs again, baby.
06:49How many are we up to now?
06:51I think this is about, I think this is the 12th since 1999.
06:5512th off season championship for your Cleveland Browns.
06:58I bet if Daryl, if had some time, you could do a nice power ranking of some of the great
07:04Browns off season.
07:05Don't you threaten me with a good time.
07:07I think it'd be, uh, uh, fully soaked in sarcasm.
07:11Yes.
07:11Fully entrenched.
07:12Yes.
07:13So I, I might need weeks to compile that.
07:15So, okay.
07:16A couple of things here.
07:18Yes.
07:19We're scoffing.
07:21We're, uh, we're, we're throwing over some.
07:23How do you trade your best player and win the off season?
07:25I'm just curious.
07:26How did you feel about the draft?
07:29It was pretty good.
07:30Okay.
07:30I think everybody feels it was pretty good.
07:32Looks like they got four first round picks on paper.
07:35All right.
07:35We'll see if they play like first round picks this fall.
07:38What did they do, uh, in terms of draft capital?
07:41They added another first round pick, right?
07:44And they also traded their best player in franchise.
07:48Hold on.
07:49We're getting to that.
07:49Well, that's how they added to their draft cap.
07:51They also added a, what already significant pass rusher, Jared verse.
08:00I mean, defensive rookie of the year, two years ago, paired him with defensive rookie of the
08:04year last year.
08:05Pro bowler, right?
08:06Pro bowler.
08:07He's a pro bowler.
08:07Pro bowler matters so much today.
08:09Analytics.
08:10Shadur Sanders was a pro bowler last year.
08:11He's been third in quarterback pressures the last two seasons.
08:13This is true.
08:14Analytics.
08:14Gurus love them.
08:15Oh, yes, they do.
08:16And also, I test.
08:18The football nerds love them.
08:20So, Daryl, are you taking issue with CBS Sports saying the Browns, the number one out
08:27of 32 teams in the NFL this off season?
08:30They won the off season.
08:31I think this is a very bad omen for this season.
08:34If the Browns won the off season, we know what's about to follow.
08:37And I don't wish that on anybody.
08:39Well, a couple things here.
08:40Because every time the Browns win the off season, bad things happen in the fall.
08:45So, I honestly don't want the Browns to win the off season.
08:49So, that, you know, maybe the fall is a little more palpable.
08:52Well, going into 2019, right?
08:55Going into 2019, fans thought they won the off season.
08:59Remember, they were going and guns blazing with that Titans opener.
09:02Yeah.
09:03And we all remember how the season went astray right off the rip.
09:07Absolutely.
09:08Baker got his coach.
09:10Yeah.
09:10That he wanted, right?
09:11Then they committed, like, 32 penalties in the opener.
09:13You had Odell and Jarvis.
09:17I mean, the hype was real.
09:19They were thought to be playoff contenders that year.
09:22Now, obviously, I think they did some good things in the soft season.
09:26And I thought they had to trade Miles Garrett.
09:28I've been saying that for a long time.
09:30Not the only one, obviously.
09:31I said all the time, if a new GM would have come in, the first thing he would have done
09:35is trade Miles Garrett.
09:37It's not a popular move.
09:38Right.
09:39So, I can't then kill them and make fun of them for getting high attributes, high marks
09:46from somebody.
09:47But I do also have to ask a larger question.
09:49Yeah, but you can't trade your best player and win the off season.
09:53Well, regardless of what you got in return.
09:55Then it'd be very easy to win the off season.
09:56Just trade your best player.
09:57Exactly.
09:58Every team could do that.
09:58Well, the Milwaukee Bucks are the off season champions of the NBA now.
10:01It's not particularly tough to tear down your team.
10:05That's the easy part.
10:06It's the building up.
10:07Now, a lot of us do think they are taking some proper steps.
10:11The last two years have been very good to them when it comes to infusing young talent
10:15into the roster.
10:16But can you win an off season when you don't have a quarterback?
10:20And that is the question that will linger for me forever.
10:27Like, how can we truly get excited about off seasons?
10:31Unless you would say, hey, this is how they're getting their quarterback.
10:34Well, two of the top three teams.
10:35They are getting the draft capital.
10:36Two of the top three teams in these rankings don't have quarterbacks.
10:38That'd be the Browns and the Jets.
10:40Well, the Raiders drafted a quarterback.
10:42Well, but they believe that that's their quarterback.
10:45So I'm going to say they have their quarterback.
10:46Todd told me we have two starting caliber quarterbacks.
10:48Yeah, Todd is a little mistaken on that.
10:51All right, 216-474-0092.
10:54Can you say the Cleveland Browns have won the NFL offseason?
10:59That, and with Daryl Ryder in for Ken Carman, we have a list forthcoming about Jimmy Haslam,
11:06who is not having a great day on the internet.
11:09I tried to defend him earlier in the show.
11:11We'll see if Daryl Ryder defends Jimmy Haslam when it comes to being an owner of a sports team.
11:16And that's.
