00:06I'm like so happy that I've made it this far it was 16 of us and now it's half waking

00:13it sort of hits me like boom pretty soon like fashion week is gonna be here and it's like whoa
00:19in a good way I got a little bombing for mine and it's it's really made me think about the
00:27amount of time I've wasted in smoking I am focused on smoking much more than I am on
00:32my outfit because I'm stressed but it really talks so badly of me as a designer
00:38so this challenge I am making it a point that my smoke time is reduced and the work
00:44time has increased hopefully it's time to get this party started
01:01I recently got to see the musical Finding Neverland I took my children we all loved it
01:06so much so I thought this would be a great inspiration for new challenge I can't keep
01:14a smile off of my face because you're on Broadway in New York it's like really corny
01:19to say but you just know that something magical is about to happen right away I recognize Matthew
01:30Morrison from Glee and we're all like oh this is awesome the women are dominating this year huh
01:36so cool because we've watched him on TV and I'm like are we gonna design for him designers welcome
01:41to the historic Lunt Fontan Theatre and to Broadway's biggest new hit Finding Neverland and I am thrilled
01:49honored and excited to introduce you to the star of Finding Neverland Matthew Morrison welcome designers
01:55very nice to have you here I'm sure you all know the story of Peter Pan Finding Neverland is kind
02:00of
02:01the story behind the story of Peter Pan at its core Finding Neverland is about what happens when you
02:05believe in yourself and make your dream come true and you're all here so I'm pretty sure that
02:11you can relate to that it certainly can so designers are going to be seeing Finding Neverland
02:19well I gotta go perform so very nice to meet you guys enjoy the show thank you bye guys Matthew
02:25Morrison how exciting all right a little bit of business though you're here today your challenge
02:33doesn't really begin until tomorrow tomorrow morning you will meet me at mood where you will have a
02:38budget of two hundred and fifty dollars so enjoy this fabulous show we are going to see Broadway live musical
02:50and we get to watch it the best experience ever I love singing and I love dancing so I feel
03:13like it was like
03:13everything that I ever loved like right on one stage I love it it's like the movies but in 3d
03:32I take a lot of inspiration from my great-grandmother and there's one part that talks about the death of
03:38someone and how like that person will live forever in Neverland um which I just thought was so lovely
03:49because you know I try to keep her along with me always so it was just a really lovely story
03:57it was really
04:05lovely I absolutely loved it extremely inspiring to watch because what they were saying is let your
04:14imagination run free and that's exactly what I'm going to do
04:26so designers for this challenge you are to be inspired by your experience watching Finding
04:31Neverland but you're not making costumes for the play we are talking about real clothes you have a
04:36250 dollar budget and 30 minutes to shop so 30 minutes begins now go go go my designs inspired by
04:46my
04:47childhood because when you go to Neverland you never grow up and when I was a little girl I grew
04:52up in a Baptist church and I would pretend that the aisle was the runway do you feel like this
04:59is
04:59too couchy what do you think you know I'm a little nervous about this challenge if I'm in the bottom
05:03again
05:03I'm in trouble so don't think about that don't get filled with doubts I think this challenge is
05:09serendipitous I am really excited to be able to make anything and to be re-inspired because these
05:14past few weeks have been really tough so let's do a yard and a half I definitely want to incorporate
05:19black into my look because the scene that really hit home for me is when hook says own your own
05:26darkness you know what my parents they were drug addicts and my childhood wasn't that great so
05:35to be able to come from
05:41a dark place and celebrate it and feel hope I don't know it's a beautiful thing and it brings tears
05:47to
05:48my eyes I should have never saw that play it's turned me into a crybaby designers we have one minute
05:55remaining he brings in front thank you time is up nice watch hey ladies are you excited Lindsay I
06:15am so excited if you don't sing you are out of the game designers I want you to listen to
06:37me for
06:37just a minute I don't want to dampen the upbeat tenor and tone in the workroom because I'm happy that
06:44you're all upbeat and enthusiastic but I want to say something there are only eight of you right
06:50now and the only designer we know will return is Kelly because Kelly has immunity the other seven of
06:59you are quite frankly at risk and at this point an excellent designer is going to go this is serious
07:08business I don't want to go home so I'm not even trying to picture myself going home it's anyone's
07:15game I'll be back later thank you the challenge for today is to create a look that is inspired by
07:29the
07:29play finding neverland and we can do pretty much anything you'd like my vision for this challenge
07:37is like a magical evening gown it's completely backless it has like a split tail in the back kind
07:44of like a waistcoat I wanted to just float down the runway it's different for me but it's still
07:49something that would come for me I love Tinkerbell I love the message that if you have wings you can
08:01fly
08:01anywhere so that's kind of sticking with me like I have wings see them I don't want to be a
08:09little
08:09ambitious and use all of my inspiration and put it in here I'm thinking this oversized jacket and these
08:18short hot pants coordinated with this tube top that I want to design with the silver tinsel textile
08:26that I have that's pretty lovely fabric I dreamt about it why is there so much static in this the
08:38lining is causing static which is why the skirt is not falling properly did you go smoking nope just once
08:45before we started I think you're doing really well look you've almost got a whole skirt done I would
08:52have if this static would not have happened how is everyone working away yes yes yes what do you
09:03mean you don't know I don't know Tim we'll see all right I'm here to check in with everybody it's
09:08a
09:08swap no what are you up to I wanted to take from the play but at the same time have
09:13my own imagination to
09:14it is about your imagination so I wanted to do something dreamy but at the same time structured
09:20and sculpted so the bottom is where I want a lot of flying in the air and fluidity okay and
09:26the top
09:26which is going to be a drape would be done in this with the Glen plaid yes this is your
09:32moment you have
09:34been on the top for five challenges but you haven't won no and this is why yeah what Tim said
09:41really changed
09:43my perspective the fact that he has so much faith in me I want to make him proud all right
09:47swap now
09:48thank you so the hundred percent happens today I was really inspired by the whole theater experience
09:54just like walking in looking at all the pictures on the wall everybody just dressed up the good old
09:59days yeah I don't really do like evening stuff so I figure with immunity I might play around with it
10:04all right I want to do like a young take on an older dress a short cocktail underneath and then
10:10this it's going to be like a long vest and I got these tassels they just reminded me of like
10:15a theater
10:15you know with all this I think less is more less is there's so much happening here there's enough
10:22I have a bedazzle problem summer lean when I came into the room you let out a little cry of
10:29anguish
10:29what's going on I feel like I lost my mojo this is not a moment to lose your mojo I
10:33know this is a
10:34time to rally there are only eight of you I know Tim what's going on okay I got these boning
10:40and I
10:40wanted to do like an armor maybe the sleeves like yeah I'm with you and just like but not too
10:47much not
10:47too much and then I was gonna leave the dress like this you know what I mean I don't know
10:53what
10:53you mean it's going to feel very Renaissance and dreamy okay if you have pretty fabric and you just
11:01throw it over the lamp and maybe you add holes in the sides you have a dress this play took
11:07me back
11:08to me being here and each piece that I create my grandmother's with me like she's my guardian angel
11:14so with that I have two bottoms I don't know if I want to go floy with it or I
11:19want to go with a
11:20gathered kind of mermaid look I didn't know if I should combine both of them together and do
11:25something fun I love what's going on right you like the both of them I do I like that counterpoint
11:32don't you think yeah I would definitely have fun doing that I'm just a little concerned because I've
11:36never done something like this and I just hope I have enough time I wanted to use fabrics that look
11:43magical I was thinking about my daughter how she loves pixie dust and Tinkerbell so I'm thinking of a
11:51three-piece okay chic young and modern fish jacket kind of like an oversized mini dress and I wanted to
11:59add a
11:59ruffle hat pant under here and this would be the top and I'm thinking of lacing the back with this

12:10I'll tell you this can go old lady very quickly and I feel as though you have two different people
12:16here
12:16you have this modern warrior of sorts and then you have her mother you need to beat back the old
12:24lady I
12:25think it's just gonna look messy Laurie can't take criticism very easily and that's what I think
12:32could be her downfall you don't look happy no I'm listening very happy so how's Lindsay I'm doing
12:45something kind of out of my comfort zone but in a good way I think okay so the top is
12:49gonna be like
12:50this and then the back is gonna be basically open oh pretty and then I have kind of like tails
12:57in the
12:57back but I've got to even out this because it just goes from way too short to way too long
13:01uh-huh what
13:02you've done with the top is so simple and so beautiful oh thanks I think you're in a good place
13:07okay wonderful I really do no self-doubts I do feel like I need to knock this one out of
13:11the park and I
13:12think I'm going to do you want a high five yes well Edmund you've done a lot to me when
13:18I hear dream
13:19and that's the word I'm kind of playing up from the plate I see clouds I see you know when
13:24the window
13:25open and it's just it's very dreamy and it is screaming this gives me night so playing the two
13:30together what's it going to be like in the back it will be the same effect all the way around
13:35oh wow
13:36yeah and how much more of this do you have this is it oh but how are you going to
13:40do the other side I
13:41will take some hand tech now I'm concerned Candace hi Tim I'm eager to see what you're doing well one
13:48of my favorite scenes in the plan was when Captain Hook told him to own his dark side and just
13:53grow
13:54from it so I wanted to incorporate that in my look it's going to be a leather corset laced in
14:00the back
14:00and I wanted to make a pant to go under this jacket dress and I have to say I love
14:05these three textiles
14:06together I also feel as though she stepped out of an 18th century painting into the 21st century
14:11that's what that's going for you got it all right designers I am really excited I mean I'm gonna say
14:18this you have a lot of work to do yes but what I love is this represents your imaginations we're
14:25gonna have a fabulous runway yes yes I'll see you in the morning we get to create whatever we want
14:38using our imagination I thought this color would be so pretty on you and it is it's really tight girl
14:44I
14:45thought I had everything measured out to her and that it was gonna fit her perfectly but now since the
14:50boning is stitched in there already I'm gonna have a gap in the back okay it's a vest but it's
15:02a cloud
15:03you're literally wearing a cloud it's a awesome fit amazing I've yet to do pants and show the judges my
15:10construction capability so I'm challenging myself with a cigarette very fitted pant hopefully turns
15:16out really well with pant they can go really well or really bad I haven't even started on the wow
15:25piece yet and we only have three hours left I saw to sew a dress together so yeah but you
15:30so like the
15:30wind so let's be I agree she does so let the women she sells like the wind on a very
15:35windy day in the
15:36middle of a storm yeah it's gonna be really stark in the front yeah it's just gonna be like floating
15:44I
15:44like it a lot yeah very different I think she's gonna end up looking like a plant I don't think
15:49that's a bad thing no Lindsay as a designer like she's not flashy and out there or confident and
15:56like she's just not comfortable with that now that's not necessarily a bad thing but at this point
16:02let's see you push it harder and harder and like get out of your comfort zone
16:10it looks so good thank you when I take a glance over it swap meals design I see art I
16:17see creativity I see
16:18competition like if that's what you can do you better do that times 10 on steroids
16:28it's trying to really kick it into high gear

16:50like I'm a bit worried for Lindsay I'm a bit worried for Lori Ashley could definitely be in trouble okay

17:21me little fingers and I haven't even sewn my train on

17:43into the Sally Beauty studio these looks are all about imagination so use the just
17:50fab accessories wall very carefully I'll be back later I'm sending in your models thanks Tim thank
17:56you I have absolutely no idea I'm gonna do this it's too late for that baby dog and they're here

18:05finally okay you ready I need to throw this on you crazy quick because I have so much work to

18:18okay okay I just have a lot to do swap now yeah too much with the ribbon keep a clean
18:26front just keep
18:26the belt if you want but don't have a tie up in the front there's so many things going on
18:31in this outfit
18:32that it's like either gonna go really right or really wrong I love it but that's because I have a
18:37personal connection to it I understand it but to get someone else to understand it that's a different
18:42story I don't have enough time to really create the pattern that I wanted to on the bodice and her
18:50pasties are showing so I'm like oh goodness here we go oh your butt is out Lori's trying to cover
19:02up the
19:02shorts but she's not really succeeding yeah that's better because her rear end is still there hanging
19:09out for all of us to see things I do for fashion so it's like really old Hollywood and I
19:18have this
19:19material and I wanted to do like a finger wave so we'll use texturizing spray let's keep her vintage
19:25Hollywood waves that's what happens in the Sally Beauty studio yeah always make it beautiful oh I love
19:31this look what I was thinking hard part down the very center keep it straight and then like evolve it
19:38into the rest yeah so we'll do a loose curl and then just expands out like this it'll be a
19:43cool
19:43interesting style I want her to look angelic almost so we're gonna give you highlights beautiful skin
19:53little bit of a drop of color it's called natural it's just glow and beauty think very dreamy I'm sorry
20:01today and she's dreaming this perfect thing right here kind of as an accent sort of pull that color in
20:07this is called sheer blush just the right amount of sheen I'm liking this it's just beautiful yes
20:14let's make this happen let's make it count can you talk your ladies in the middle
20:27designers and models we're going down to the runway everyone follow me please all right designers and
20:36models Kelly come come oh wait a minute we're lean you're hiding over in that corner you can't hide
20:43for me go go go go go all right thank you everyone hello everybody welcome to the runway as you
21:00know in
21:00fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out there eight of you here and after tonight there
21:05will be seven for this challenge you took a little trip to Broadway you got to see the hit show
21:12Finding
21:12Neverland what did you think of the musical awesome you were to use the musical as your inspiration and
21:19you could create anything that you wanted Kelly as you know you have immunity for this challenge and
21:24cannot be eliminated all right let's say hello to our judges first we have creative director of Brooks
21:29brothers of women and fashion designer Zack Posen hi designers creative director for Mary Claire magazine Nina Garcia
21:37hi everyone hello and model and author Kuka Russia also we have Tim Gunn here for the runway show and
21:47as you
21:47know he is your mentor and would not be judging your looks that said he will have the Tim Gunn
21:52safe we also have an
21:53anonymous runway show which means we the judges do not know which designer created which look all right
22:00let's start the show she is throwing the skirt in the air it's flying beautifully the top looks structured I
22:14think this is a great representation of me it's soft and fluid at the same time it's sharp strong and
22:19confident
22:20and that's who I am as a designer I kind of lost what my inspiration was for this design and
22:34why I was
22:35designing it and the hem is unraveling I don't want to be on the bottom for that
22:54I'm a bit worried about the arms on the coat because it might look like bat wings I've done something
23:01that I've never done before I've done something I've never seen before I definitely dug into my deep
23:08imagination most of the times you would see a garment like that you would have a long dress on underneath
23:19and I wanted to add just some flirty and some playfulness so I did the mini dress underneath I
23:25definitely added a little bit of Kelly in there that short third Kelly had to add her Kelly
23:39at this point I'm hoping to be safe because I know I have a lot of flaws and struggle kind
23:45of shows
23:45through my look I don't do three-piece looks I just wish I had more time if I'm at the
23:53bottom I'll be
23:54ready I love it she looks fierce I love the shoulders she look hard with the armor on her shoulders
24:11she's just like
24:14a hard-core bold princess
24:30my dress is like my kind of fantasy where it's still wearable it's not something I would make every day
24:39but hopefully this thing goes well I do feel as if I am picking up momentum my objective was to
24:54push
24:54harder push forward give it all I got I'm feeling like the judges are really seeing me look at those
25:01bands
25:10I have to say I love today's runway show it was very creative overall good job if I call your
25:18name please step
25:19forward Merlin please step forward swap now please step forward if I called your name congratulations your
25:32scores have qualified you to move on to the next round you can leave the runway the six of you

25:40the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be

25:54Ashley tell us about your look and your inspiration well here I created this regime effect with the
26:00ombre fabric that I found at mood and my inspiration was the believing Peter just lost his mother JM told
26:08him to continue writing because every time he writes his mother is with him in every page that he writes
26:13and
26:13I felt like my grandma's with me every time I create a piece and she's my guardian angel I think
26:20the
26:20length is a little awkward overall it felt kind of messy and this was not one of my high scores
26:26today I like
26:28the overall idea I do like what you wanted to do with the silhouette having a rouge on one side
26:34hugging
26:34her body beautifully and on the other side it's just kind of loose the sweetheart neckline is a little
26:41comical it's kind of like two bunny ears it sort of flopped it needed to be a little tighter Coco
26:48what
26:48do you think the color choice for her skin I think is beautiful but it looks like she had like
26:54a fight
26:55with the drapes and the drapes one this is like the prom gone wrong draping is all about honoring the
27:03body
27:03in the curves and this is not doing your models body any justice Kelly tell us about your look into
27:12your inspiration so knowing I had immunity I kind of wanted to do something different than I normally do
27:17and that was my first Broadway musical it was awesome I sort of wanted to bring back like getting
27:23dressed up and make it like an event but modern day like 21st century sexy and sort of young and
27:30fun I
27:31like seeing you take chances yeah pushing yourself in a more evening direction and outside of this kind
27:37of urban raver luck so in your comfort zone shows that you're growing when she came down the runway I
27:44thought it was a little costumey who would wear this to an event is what I was thinking looks like
27:49a
27:49mini dress with a negligee over it but you know what it would be a beautiful dress to photograph it
27:55would be
27:55a beautiful editorial it walked beautifully it glistens with the lights it's really all about the fabric
28:01thank you Laurie tell us about your look and your inspiration well my inspiration was from the fairies it
28:08took me back to my daughter and she loves fairies she loves Tinkerbell so I kind of thought of pixie
28:14dust
28:15hence all this silver this is a tube top I just wanted to incorporate the silver into the jacket as
28:22well can I
28:23see the jacket off whoa oh my god this is not Tinker Bell this is Tinker hell oh it is
28:36a mess I do like
28:39the you know the top but then you see through and you see that she has nipple pads underneath it
28:44I do
28:44like the sleeves with the tool underneath it but the jacket is crooked you know one side is longer than
28:49the other but I feel like there was some interesting silhouettes that I have not seen before but maybe
28:54that's why if I was wearing this I'd be covering up my top all the time thinking how I wish
29:01I wasn't wearing
29:02this right now I'd feel so uncomfortable you need to make sure that everything's perfect for that person
29:08absolutely thank you Lindsay tell us about your look and your inspiration I found going to the play was almost
29:16kind of serendipitous for me I obviously haven't been in the best place in this couple challenges so I
29:23guess the idea of just like believing in yourself was it was just a really lovely feeling I think I
29:29love
29:29the color but that's about it I have a really hard time with this look head to toe being really
29:35high up
29:36here then it doesn't know what kind of length it wants to be it's short in the front long in
29:40the back
29:41then it has a slit in the back structurally I don't like what it's doing to her waist it's kind
29:46of pinching
29:47it's a little funny right there it looks like an experiment gone wrong the proportions don't work
29:53the color is beautiful green is the color of hope but this feels a little hopeless Edmund tell us about
30:00your look and your inspiration my inspiration is the word dream I feel like I'm Peter Pan right
30:06now living that being here so what I created was this like vest to soften the look and give more
30:12of
30:12a dreamy cloudy effect I wanted to do something sleek so I did the cigarette pant never done a
30:18pant especially a pant this fitted like this and it was a challenge in itself and created this top for
30:24my look I think that the cigarette pants are smoking hot thank you it fits like a glove I also
30:32love the
30:32top I like that you chose separates that you didn't do a gown I'm not the biggest fan of the
30:38purple top in
30:39the pants I love I do not like this at all underneath gorgeous you know how to tailor you know
30:48how to make
30:49her look beautiful but for some reason these are two different stories I say take this purple
30:54haze away really to me it's polluting the outfit okay I appreciate that you took a risk lose the
31:01Muppet I don't dislike the purple set it's one of those drama pieces and it makes this look so much
31:08better thanks Candace tell us about your look and your inspiration I thoroughly enjoyed the play I was
31:17moved from the very beginning to the very end and the scene that really hit home for me was when
31:23Hook came and told him he kind of just needed to own his madness evolve from a dark place and
31:30make it
31:30beautiful and I immediately connected with that I enjoyed it this was my literal translation from Peter
31:38Pan I love that play of dark yet romantic I love what you did with a bustier the fact that
31:46you layered the
31:47leggings skinny pants the whole entire effect it's beautiful thank you I love that it's off the
31:56shoulder it's sexy but hard at the same time I also could see that this was you Candace because we
32:02know
32:02that you love leather I had to add that in brava excellent work you interpreted the play and you looked
32:09in yourself and created something original it feels modern even though it touches on some costume places
32:17pretty spectacular work I love that you picked the baddie because the baddie is looking goody you
32:24interpreted it perfectly like the material choice to having you know I don't know exactly what that is
32:30that does taffeta and then I have organza for the amount of time you had I'm so impressed thank you

33:46say I know you are will you open this first pair of pants and I fit that great that's pretty
33:55impressive that's very impressive I love the length I love the fit I have to give it to him there
34:00is a lot of work in here I just don't like it it's a lot it's like you know it's
34:05for a show and it's a matter of taste definitely
34:13and we have Christina we're in Kelly well this was such a smart choice of a fabrication I mean it
34:18was
34:18effective the fabric choice I don't love the seemed on the front now actually when you have this over it
34:23you should put the seam on the side no yeah go down here for making a glove that fit Zach
34:28stop teaching
34:29your head of both well it was smart and it was smart to pick this fabric it's a different look
34:38we have Lolly wearing Candace we totally forgot to address the back this is beautiful yeah this is
34:45really beautiful high drama romantic it's a very focused design there's a lot of attitude here
34:59I'm surprised that Ashley made this she ran out of my god I'm shocked that this came down the runway
35:06this is sad
35:07all the way around this is not something you can do in 24 hours with this weaving and pleating there
35:13is a
35:13bustier underneath that just you need the proper time I like the color choice for her skin type I think
35:18you
35:18look amazing in this color choice but other than that to me it's very arts and crafts
35:29I don't even know what to say oh you were not able to see this my god I can't believe
35:35she left you
35:36going like that nipple paints this is insane I don't get it when she moved I could see the under
35:42part yeah
35:43Tinker Bell needs to go to rehab
35:50oh this could have just been simplified and been okay this is a tall glass of water and she still
35:56looks short right there because it's just not flattering on your way to lean that way to even
36:01it out and you quite you know you have a chest you know what I mean it doesn't help her
36:06either the
36:08green is just so uninspired it was just a boring dress so we made our decision let's bring them back
36:19out the six of you have the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner
36:28and one
36:29of you will be out Candace you are the winner of this challenge congratulations thank you thank you guys I'm
36:47happy that my message came through and especially such a personal one once again you showed us that
36:54you know how to work with leather your look was modern sophisticated and we could clearly see the
