00:15I'm a lone wolf and I'm the last man standing. I can taste it. I literally can taste it. I'm
00:21so
00:21close to fashion week. We almost we can see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. We're
00:27like very very close to the end. And it was hard for me to see Swapnil leave you know what
00:31I mean?
00:32How could you not want to fight for it? Like how could you just give up? You get to a
00:36point you're
00:36like man you're gonna get tired you're gonna get discouraged you know what I mean? But then you
00:39get to the end and we're on like the last stretch right now why would you give up now? I
00:44win the
00:44makeover challenge and I'm feeling freaking awesome two wins. I feel confident and comfortable. I'm
00:50feeling really good at this point. You guys ready to go? Yeah. Merlene energy.
01:00Hi designers. For this next challenge you're going to bring some New York City landmarks to life.
01:10In 3D. We'll be meeting Tim at one of these landmarks. And I'll see you back here on the runway.
01:18Bye designers. Good morning designers. I hope that you're going to be as excited about this
01:31challenge as I am to present it to you. I love New York City. I'm constantly in awe of it
01:38and among
01:38the things that I love the most are these spectacular bridges that span the East River. And today they're
01:45going to serve as the inspiration for fashion. No way. Yes. I have selected three bridges to serve as
01:50the inspiration. One is this venerable bridge that rises behind me the Queensborough Bridge. The
01:56second bridge is the Manhattan Bridge. And the third and last bridge is one of the all-time great icons
02:03of New York City. The Brooklyn Bridge. Kelly since you won the last challenge I'm not assigning you a
02:09bridge. You were choosing a bridge. Oh. So what would you like? The Queensborough, the Manhattan, or the
02:14Brooklyn? I am obsessed with hip-hop, Wu-Tang and I feel like the Brooklyn Bridge is a huge staple
02:21in the
02:21hip-hop industry. Brooklyn. Okay. So working with the Queensborough Bridge will be Candace. Yes. And also
02:31working with the Queensborough Bridge will be Merlene. Sweet. All right. So Edmund and Ashley you will be
02:39working with the Manhattan Bridge. You will be using your bridge as an inspiration for an avant-garde look.
02:47Yes. Yes. Since these bridges that serve as your inspiration are multi-dimensional, the looks that
02:53you create should be multi-dimensional as well. So for the first time ever in Project Runway history,
02:59you're going to be using 3D printing. Oh yeah. To help create this look. Oh my god. I mean, I've
03:06heard of
03:063D printing. I've seen it, but not up close. I have someone very special to introduce you to.
03:12Hi Tim. How are you, Annie? I'm well. How are you? Annie Shaw is the creative director of 3D Systems.
03:18Hi guys. Hi. And she's going to give you more information on 3D printing and what the printers
03:22are capable of. 3D printing is a new technique that's becoming much more accessible in fashion.
03:27My team and I are going to help you transform your sketches into a three-dimensional textile.
03:32I'm excited. I'm amped. At this point, I'm turned. I'm turned up. They're going to help you
03:37transform your sketches into 3D files, select mesh colored fabric to print on, and filament colors
03:44to print in. And the prints will come out around five and a half by five and a half inch
03:48squares.
03:49And the winner of this challenge will take home a cube 3D printer and all the accessories. So how
03:57exciting is that? You'll have your own 3D printer. It is on. You know what I mean? I want that
04:033D printer.
04:04That is freaking cool. Annie, thank you so much. Thank you so much, Tim. Thank you. Thank you. Bye.
04:08All right. You're going to have 30 minutes to sketch at your bridge, and then we're going shopping at Mood,
04:14where you'll have a budget of $200. And you have two days for this challenge. I'm going to send you
04:20off to your
04:21bridges to sketch, and a 3D modeling expert will be there with you. Head off, everyone.
04:32No, you're good. Right there. Right there. Oh, my gosh. That looks so cool. Oh, yeah. I like that.
04:36Yeah? I like that. My inspiration really comes from just looking up at this giant, strong structure.
04:43I think I'm going to go really literal with this challenge and make her a walking bridge.
04:47Hi. I'm JD. JD? Kelly. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. I will be
04:52your modeling consultant.
04:53Are you excited? Yes, indeed. Cool. Yeah. So in terms of the 3D printing, I want to do like bricks,
04:58in like a brown brick shape. How raised. Yeah. Maybe like a half an inch. Excellent. I do want to
05:04build
05:05out, and I want it to be flattering. Okay. I'm making a gown. It's fitted on the top. It's going
05:10to have a
05:10large collar, very shapely in the hips, and flare at the bottom. So I do want these triangles,
05:17because I'd want it for the hip. Looking at the Queensborough Bridge, the triangle shape hit me.
05:22I want to have three-dimensional triangles that vary in height. I want to do this thing where it goes
05:27from
05:272D to 3D in a garment. One thing I love about the bridge is like transition, and so there's level
05:32of
05:32thickness, you know, the heavy bridge that holds it, the concrete, and then you have these little lines
05:36that's holding the bridge. I really like the curvedness of this. I'm really inspired by the shape of this
05:43bridge, and how the wires go up and down, and just have a lot of curve to it. These scales
05:50lower height,
05:51and these scales bigger height. Okay. So then they, then you start to get that arch. We end up coming
05:56up
05:56with a design that when you look at it from different angles, you see a different shape, and you see
06:02all the
06:02curves in it. I do not know as of right now how and where I will incorporate the design that
06:08I've
06:08created, but I know that once I, you know, get a feel for it and take a look at it,
06:12I'll definitely
06:12make it a major piece of the design that I'm creating.
06:18You have 30 minutes to shop, and think avant-garde. You're off.
06:26That's gorgeous. Where's the vinyl?
06:30I find this, like, perfect fabric. Looks exactly like bricks. I don't know when the last time they
06:35sold that fabric, because it's definitely weird, and I don't know what else you would ever use it
06:38for besides making a bridge dress. Yeah, I'll do the five. Thank you. I also have to get leather
06:44cording that I want to incorporate into the strong structure to add some, like, softness, like,
06:50sophistication to the dress. Is there solid rope at all? So I want to do, like, cigarette pans,
06:55form-fitting, but it's not going to be skin-tight. I still want her to move.
06:58I want to do more of an androgynous look for this avant-garde challenge. I want to make these
07:05cigarette pants that have some type of mesh where it's see-through. Let's do two yards of this.
07:11Ashley, it's a nice, rich-looking palette. Thank you. Designers, you have one minute remaining.
07:17That's perfect. $199.99. Perfect. All right, designers, let's head back to the work rooming.
07:27Get to work. Thank you, Mom. Thank you.
07:35I'm all about myself over here. This is crazy, actually. Yeah.
07:40I'm fuzzy, but that's okay. I think that each one of us have something different that we think of when
07:47we
07:47here avant-garde. There's a fine line because you cross over the line and you're into costume zone.
07:53I'm thinking of adding one more. One more in the front and back. Yeah. I don't want to look like
07:58a
07:58costume. I'm making a short dress, but it's going from 3D to 2D, kind of like the whole transition.
08:05When I'm making kind of this 3D triangle skirt coming out, going around, I'm like so pumped up. I feel
08:12like the sky's the limit. Our challenge for this week is to create an avant-garde look that is
08:21inspired by one of the three bridges in New York. We also will be using the 3D printer to incorporate
08:26into our design. Hi, Ashley. Hi. How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm doing great, thanks. Jessica comes
08:33in
08:33and I'm taken back by the fact that she's a woman and she's like running this business. I love it.
08:39So working off of your sketches and inspiration, you can see there's a series of these kind of,
08:46your suspension shapes. I absolutely love it and I feel like now it's coming to life. This is pretty
08:53similar to your sketch. It's an outlet. I really love it. So that works. I'm blown away by it. Like,
09:00great job. So here these are some of the spikes. I love this challenge and I think I'm really taken
09:07by
09:07the three-dimensional part. I just, my mind explodes. Yay. Thank you. We'll get back to it
09:12and we can start. Okay. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. All right. Excited.
09:20Where did all my damn pens go, man? Oh . Marlene, you should see how well my printer is doing.
09:25Come here. Come check it out. Which one is yours? Right here.
09:31I've never seen what a 3D printer looks like. That's ridiculous. This is so cool. I'm like super
09:39excited to see what they're going to look like in the morning. Okay, you guys, time to go home. Where
09:59can we go and see? Oh yeah. Oh yeah, definitely. I'm super excited to see my 3D print. I hope
10:04it
10:04looks exactly like I have in my head. Oh my God. Whoa. I like that. This is so cool. You're
10:11kidding
10:11me right now. Those are cool. This is crazy. That's awesome. Look at that. And then I did it in
10:16a flat
10:16version. I did three different sizes. They are so cool. Look at the spikes. They're going to be so cool.
10:24This is fashion forward. I'm excited. We want a happy dance.
10:30Hi. Hi. Hi. Hello, Tim. There's so few of you. I know. Well, I'm here to check in with you.
10:37I can't
10:37wait to see what you're doing. Yes. How's Candace? Hi. Hi. Doing really good, actually. I got the
10:46clean for a bridge. And I noticed all the triangles and the shapes. But where it really came to life
10:52for me
10:53was when I realized how excited I was and why is because my dad works on bridges.
11:00It's a beautiful shape. There's a cleanness to the silhouette. There is the organic counterpoint
11:07of the mesh to the crisp hardness of the 3D printing that's very compelling. I'm loving it.
11:16Wow. Talk to me. I had the Manhattan Bridge. And what mostly inspired me was the wires that connected.
11:26And I wanted to create that in the 3D print that we have.
11:33And I also wanted to create something that was chic but different. And that's where I came up with
11:39these pants where I wanted to have the curves of those wires hanging. Mm-hmm. When you are hammering
11:48and nailing this, you need to think of this as being in harmony with this pant. Because right now,
11:54I feel as though they're two completely different look. I can see it. Do you see what I mean? Yeah,
11:58I get it. Appreciate it. Okay, Ashley, thank you. Edmund, you're rereading the dossier. It's too late.
12:03It's too late. Tell me what you're doing. My bridge is the Manhattan Bridge. The first thing I saw
12:10was these X's. Really stood out to me. I just saw a lot of strength, a lot of character. So
12:15you put your
12:16name in it? Yes. So where are you using it? I'm thinking somewhere on the side panel areas where I
12:21could
12:21actually hand sew it in the mesh areas that I've created. Getting this transparency, it's beautiful.
12:27What will you say if asked, why is your name in this? Because my name is in this. Fine. I'm
12:33putting
12:33my energy. That's the answer. Okay. Keep this going. I will. All right. Hey, Tim Gunn. I didn't want to
12:39interrupt you with you. You're holding a pair of scissors. So what are you doing? So I got the
12:44Queensborough Bridge. What struck out was the swoop of the bridge. And then I wanted to do from going
12:51ones from 2D to 3D. So this is the highest one. And then this is the in between. And then
12:56these are
12:56the flat ones. So on the garment, I kind of wanted this like transition where maybe like pieces will
13:03start from here and then slowly build up. So one idea is to do the shapes throughout. The other idea
13:09is
13:09actually putting this fabric and then kind of breaking it all over so it looked cohesive. So you'll
13:15be joining it together like a jigsaw puzzle? Yes. Is the skirt sewn together? It's about to.
13:23Is it an optical illusion or are these slightly different shapes? Merlene, come over here.
13:30Yeah. Do you see? One goes down, one goes up, one is in the middle. I'm just saying that the
13:37balance
13:39isn't even. Okay.
13:43All these things matter a great deal. Okay.
13:46There are only five of you left. Okay. Before I was like, oh, I think I got it. Now I'm
13:50like on
13:51alert. Amber alert. You know how you get those Amber alert on your phone? I just got one.
14:02How are you? I'm good. It looks like you are. I think. I can't wait to hear. Okay,
14:08so I had the Brooklyn Bridge and I really wanted to do a literal design of it. I really like
14:13the
14:13bridges, how they go into the ground and I thought it would be really cool to like create a box
14:17at the
14:18bottom and have it go right to the floor. And I really want to play on the whole cable thing.
14:22So I'm
14:23doing like this woven cable technique in the middle. I had him do like a brick sort of technique
14:30and I thought it would be cool like on the shoulders and also do like a belting with it.
14:34For me, it has a playfulness. Yeah. It makes me smile.
14:41It's fun. Well, thanks. All right. Well, listen,
14:43I'm going to leave you alone. Carry on. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Kelly.
14:47Well, designers, this is the best work you have done all season.
14:54It's thrilling. So now the pressure's on to keep it up. Don't lose your trajectory here. Your models
15:01will be here in about an hour and a half. Oh, great. And you will have until nine o'clock
15:05tonight.
15:05So as far as I'm concerned, you have plenty of time. Thank you. I'll see you tomorrow.
15:10Thanks. So we're doing an all vanguard challenge and using 3D print. I just want to make sure that
15:25the front fits you and the pieces lay down right. So I got to put it on you and kind
15:29of mold it a
15:30little more. I'm taking a lot of time to get the hem right at the bottom because that has to
15:33be perfect
15:34all the way around. Kelly, don't make it short. I'll put a slit in the back so you can walk.
15:38This is like a glove, which is exactly what I wanted. I didn't go. I don't know how to use
15:45these.
15:47They look like bones to me. Play with them until they talk to you. I've been playing with them.
15:54Yeah, I'm trying to make sure that I place the 3D prints properly, but I'm just really having trouble.
16:00You know what else these look like to me? You know when you, um, boiled hard-boiled eggs and then
16:06you put them through the cutter? Shut up. That was my inspiration for these. Stop it. Oh my god.
16:19I'm not secure on where I should put these 3D prints.
16:25I just need to get them onto the poncho. I'm scared for what is in store for tomorrow.
16:40The vibe in the working room, everyone is pretty much focusing. We're getting to the end.
16:45And there's only a couple of slots that are available for fashion week, and I think we all want them.
16:49Good morning, everyone. How are you? Good morning.
16:52We're going to have a very exciting runway show. Yep. Yes.
16:55And I'm going to be sending in your models momentarily. You will have an hour
16:58to send them to the Mary Kay Color Design Studio and to the Sally Beauty Studio.
17:03And you all know about the Just Fab accessories wall. With these exuberant looks, be careful, everyone.
17:10I'll see you a little later. Bye. Bye, Tim.
17:22Kelly sees things in a different way, which is what I think fashion should be.
17:29She's grown tremendously as a designer, and you just continue to see her get stronger and stronger.
17:35I'm putting on the outfit on Christina. Everything fits amazing. I have a really cool idea for hair and
17:41makeup and can't wait to see it all together. Keep it really clean and almost pale, deep red,
17:48and exaggerate her lips. Just concentrating in one area of the face, keeping it really sculptural.
17:54We got you. Thank you. I love that look.
17:59Very frozen in time. Really exaggerated eyebrow and no gloss. My dress is very statuesque.
18:04Just a real light white skin. Yeah, and maybe like a brown smokey eye. Inspired by you. I love it.
18:15A pin straight bob with straight line cut. A little final take on the hair. Some polish,
18:21some shine, some hold. Always make it beautiful. Miss Sally Beauty Studio. Now that's sexy.
18:26And you think we should have a part in the center? You could do longer. She has a great clean
18:30line.
18:30This shape would look good. Super sleek and straight. We got this. Molded, like, slicked back.
18:37Clean away from the face. Maybe a little chignon. Yes. So it looks tight and together. Yes.
18:43And Sally Beauty will make it beautiful.
18:46Avant-garde, baby. It's fashion and I know you can pull it off. All right. Designers and models,
18:52we're going down to the runway. Off we go. Berlin. Helen. Off we go.
19:08Hello, everybody. And welcome to the runway. As you know, in fashion one day you're in,
19:13and the next day you're out. There are five of you here and after tonight there will be four.
19:19For this challenge, each of you were to be inspired by one of the iconic bridges around New York. You
19:26were to create avant-garde looks and you had the option of using 3D printing technology to build
19:32onto your designs. I have to say I'm very excited to see what you came up with. We have never
19:38done
19:38anything like this before on Project Runway. The winner of this challenge will receive a cube 3D
19:43printer and all the accessories from 3D systems. All right, let's say hello to our judges. First,
19:50we have Creative Director of Brooks Brothers Women and Fashion Designer, Zach Posen. Hi, Final Five.
19:57Creative Director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia. Hi, everyone. Hi. Hello, Nina.
20:03And our guest judge for today, my friend, Mel B. Hi. Hi, you lot. Hi. We're used to judging
20:09together on America's Got Talent, so this should be a lot of fun today. Also, we have Tim Gunn here
20:15for
20:15The Runway Show and as you know, he is your mentor and will not be judging your looks. That said,
20:20he has
20:20the Tim Gunn safe, which he has not used. I have not. We also have an anonymous runway show, which
20:26means
20:27we the judges do not know which designer created which look when it walks down the runway. All right,
20:32let's start the show. I love it. I see the process of how I went from 2D on paper walls
20:48and came up with this.
20:52And I love the fabric that I chose. That color is sick. Yeah.
20:57I love the fact that I did it this way. I don't think I have any regrets.
21:14I have the perfect model for this look. She's really wearing this well.
21:19I see my inspiration from the Manhattan Bridge and the detailing of it.
21:23This makes me genius. I'm just loving it. I really like this look.
21:28I'm just hoping that it comes across well to the judges.
21:45I was able to construct these pants and just make them look really warm fitting.
21:53I'm concerned about how I incorporated my 3D prints. It's two different looks and it's not cohesive.
22:17I'm out guard to me is over-designed. That looks freaking amazing.
22:23I love the go days. The light hits the red. It looks like it's just skin on her.
22:29My garment looks different, but it looks really good. I feel extremely confident about this piece.
22:47This is probably my favorite dress I've ever made in life.
22:49Oh my gosh, that looks so cool.
22:52It's so weird. She's a walking bridge, but it looks awesome. And I'm super surprised with what I did.
23:00I could be way wrong. They could be like, what the heck is this? But I really feel good about
23:05this.
23:17The final five. And I have to say today what a fantastic runway show it was. Great job.
23:24Thank you. Thank you to all of you. Thank you.
23:26One of you will be the winner of this challenge, and one of you will be out.
23:39We're going to talk to all of you today. Let's bring out your models.
23:49Edmund, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
23:51My inspiration bridge was the Manhattan Bridge. I saw an element that kind of captured my attention,
23:58which was an X in the building and the structure. And it was a kind of windy, cloudy day. So
24:04the feel
24:04was very breezy. So that's where the airiness comes in about. And I wanted to incorporate that
24:09element as well. The design that I created with the 3D printing machine, it's an X as well. And I
24:15incorporated my last name into the actual design. So it's here. And to balance it out, I have the back
24:22area as well for texture. I love your dress, Edmund. Thank you. I really, really do. I want to wear
24:28that. You can wear it. I do. I really, I want it. I mean, this is definitely a gown that
24:33you can wear
24:34to a red carpet event. Because for me, this is the right amount of sex appeal and sophistication.
24:39Thank you so much. It's sexy. It's subtle. Everything just falls into place perfectly.
24:46You want to wear it. I'm going to fight you. I want to wear it. I think you were very
24:49smart to keep
24:50it all in this black coloration. I think that brings some more of the sophistication that Heidi
24:56is talking about. In terms of the use of the 3D print, it doesn't feel as incorporative
25:01into the piece. But it definitely blends well, decoratively. Thank you. Kelly, tell us about
25:08your inspiration and your look. Sure. I had the Brooklyn Bridge and the whole cross cables and the
25:14really strong sturdiness of the bridge really inspires me. Basically like the overall shape.
25:19And I wanted to take more of a literal, playful approach to this challenge. And I just wanted her
25:25to be really tall and like really long and sort of like get that whole element of the shapes.
25:32Well, when I first saw this, I was like, oh, I don't know if I like this. And the more
25:36I looked at it,
25:37the more I actually warmed to it. And having known the challenge, I think out of everybody here,
25:43you've really taken a risk. I think that's brilliant what you've done. Thank you. I really do.
25:48Awesome. Thank you so much. You really created an unusual silhouette. I can see your inspiration. I can
25:54see the bridge. I can see those wires here. I wish there was a little bit more of the 3D,
25:59because I think you only put it in the belt. Yeah. But overall, I love it. Awesome.
26:05You know, avant-garde is about innovation. It's about creativity. It's about really going out there.
26:12And I think that you really did do that. And I like that you picked this material,
26:18because this could have really gone south. Thank you. Marlene, tell us about your inspiration and
26:24your look. I had the Queensborough Bridge. One thing that I loved about the bridge is that
26:29between the wires, you would just see a lot of like triangles. So there, at first,
26:34I started sketching like what would I want my 3D pieces to be. And then I started from 3D to
26:402D into
26:412.5 and 2D. And then from there, that's how I got the shapes of the bottom. I do like
26:46this look.
26:47Okay. I do have to be honest, though. It does remind me of a dress that we saw last season.
26:54Keeney. It was Keeney in the umbrella dress. Yeah. Otherwise, I do love this silhouette. I think it is
27:00a great silhouette. I like that you were thinking about negative space and the distortion in between the
27:06triangles. But then when I get to the technique and the shape of the dress, compared to the others,
27:12it wasn't as exciting. Okay. It felt a little bit older. And I think from your sculptural background,
27:19I was expecting like the world from you. See, I like this. And I like the vibe that it's given
27:25me.
27:25I love the material. And I like the detail in here and the little peekaboo at the back. I think
27:32that,
27:32I think it was well done. I like this dress because it's polished and because it's showing
27:41me a little more of an elegant side of you. But I don't think this qualifies to me as an
27:49avant-garde
27:49design. When I think of what is the opposite of avant-garde, it's precisely that, something that is
27:55too safe. And this is too safe for me. Thank you. Ashley, tell us about your inspiration and your
28:01look. Okay. So I had the Manhattan Bridge. I love the chic look and how this bridge has a multi
28:09-use.
28:09There's a train. You can drive on it. You can walk on it. And you can just see everything that's
28:14going
28:14on in there. And I wanted to take the wiring and how draped it is from each stand to each
28:20stand. And
28:22like whatever direction you look at the bridge, you see the wires intertwine. And so it's kind of,
28:27you have to stare at it to see how it's going. And that's what I wanted to incorporate with this
28:313D
28:32design. Drama, baby. This look had a lot of drama. It worked beautifully. Thank you. You know,
28:38because the cape really comes to life and you see the sheerness of the polka dots, you know, going all
28:45the way up her leg. Yeah. It's super sexy. Thank you. Well, I'm in two minds because I really love
28:51the cape. I think it's full on drama and I love how kind of showy it is. But then underneath
28:59is what
29:00I didn't quite get. It's like two separate outfits to me. I didn't think they all tied together.
29:06Is this cape removable? Let's see. It's nice. It's all the way around. Oh, nice. Wow. I mean,
29:15it fits great. Thank you. What it has to do with bridges, I have no idea. But it's all right.
29:22I still like it very much. Thank you. I love this color. It reminded me of like that Moroccan
29:28tour egg blue. And then the white started to feel like kind of like if it was like dove
29:33embroideries on it. So I actually liked the contrast of it. Thank you. And then it had this
29:38like sexy two piece underneath and I loved how the chiffon hit right on the sheer line and even
29:44the humor of the little polka dots underneath. I mean, I thought it was weird, fabulous. You really
29:51stepped it up. Thank you. Candice, tell us about your inspiration and your look. Well, I got the
29:57Queensborough Bridge and the first thing I noticed were the shapes within the shapes within the shapes
30:04of the bridge. I've always loved the triangles in the bridges. So when I realized that we could do 3D
30:11printing, I wanted to contour every shape, but then build on her shape. Stunning gown, stunning look from
30:18head to toe. I really love this a lot. And I love the 3D appliques. You know, it really gives
30:25a beautiful top part of the dress. You know, how you place it has kind of a lingerie feeling to
30:31it.
30:32It just really elevates the whole look. Like I said to Edmund, I will say to you,
30:39I know your work. I know what you can do. And I know that you can do more. I agree
30:45very much with
30:46Nina. This doesn't go into an avant garde place. And I know that you have avant garde in you. That
30:53being
30:53said, I think your use of the 3D printing was by far the best application here on the runway today
31:02in
31:02terms of technique, in terms of thought process, and execution. I like the fact that it is kind of
31:10so tight. And I like the fact that it kind of feathers out at the bottom here. I mean, out
31:16of
31:17everybody here, I would definitely say that's my favorite one. Thank you. I like this a lot.
31:22Okay, we've heard what you had to say. Now we're going to take a closer look at your designs,
31:27have a little chat, and then I call you back onto the runway. Thank you. Thank you.

31:58around the world from Best Western International. A 2015 Lexus RC 350. From Mary Kay an entire year's
32:06worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for their
32:10debut show. A complete sewing and crafting studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery. And the winning
32:16designer and model will receive a fashion spread in Mary Claire magazine. Hi, Heidi. Hi, Tim. Zach,
32:22Hannah, Mel B. We're so thrilled to have you here. What a fantastic runway show.
32:27So shall we have Zorana come out first wearing Edmund? Wow. It is so cool how they're able to digitally
32:35print onto the mesh. It's held on. It's not glued on. It's actually printed through the small holes in
32:42the mesh and it adheres to it. Look at this gorgeous cleavage. I mean really it hits in the perfect
32:48spot.
32:48The cutouts are beautiful. I like this from Edmund today because he played with dimension and texture.
32:52Yeah. Really great work from Edmund. Very nice.
32:58And we have Christina wearing Kelly. This is fantastic. Fantastic. Yes. Zach, you'll be disarmed
33:04by how light this and buoyant this is. Wow. Fantastic runway. Of course. I love the sides on this.
33:09That makes me so happy. Right? Of course. Fantastic. I like that she told a story within such an
33:14interesting avant-garde dress. I felt like it was like forced perspective. Like when you drive through
33:19the Brooklyn Bridge you really get your torso vision. I wish she would have continued the
33:25crossing in the back. But you know what? It is really beautiful.
33:31We have Helen wearing Merlin. Well the color of the dress was nice and the material very feminine and
33:37pretty. I think it's a beautiful dress. It is a beautiful color. It has great volume. Even though
33:43it's a technique we've seen before, at least I started to see her sculptural, architectural mind
33:48starting to work. And I want to say even though it's clear she has construction challenges, it's gotten
33:54better and better. And she's become more ambitious. She's more ambitious. She's using her serious
33:59fusible inside, which was you know the right thing to hold the shape.
34:06We have Obe wearing Ashley. I love what Ashley made. The transparency played so strategically and the
34:13cape flowing. It had drama. It had some unusualness to it. I would have done the cape with something
34:19completely different underneath and made that the feature. I think there's too much going on and
34:25it's two different looks completely. Lolly is wearing Candace. This is my favorite. It did have the
34:35flamenco feel which I know is not in fitting with the challenge but still it's such a beautiful dress.
34:41I mean her play with the 3D printing is pretty spectacular. This is the best use of the 3D technology.
34:48By far and away. Thank you Tim. Thank you. Off we go.
34:55Now we need to decide who is winning and who's going home. That's going to be a hard decision.
35:01It's really hard to send anyone home today because they all did a good job. Let's start with Candace.
35:07I have to say most beautiful color. That shade of red that she picked was absolutely amazing. It was
35:14beautiful when it came down the runway. I was very impressed. Me too. Let's move on to Kelly.
35:19I think out of everyone she really took the challenge like by the horns and ran with it. And let's
35:25call
35:26a spade a spade. This is brown faux crocodile. I mean this could have gone horrendous.
35:34Me too. Edmund. I loved his look. It was sexy and seductive that dress. Very sexy. I like this from
35:40Edmund today because he played with dimension and texture. Yeah. And I like the rustle on the side.
35:45I think if it didn't have that it would just be a straight boring up and down dress. All right
35:50we have
35:50to decide who is going home today. Let's talk about Marlene. Many designers have done this loop technique.
35:56It's part of like the classic construction of creating volume. This was very safe for Marlene and
36:02much more so than any of her other previous designs. Ashley let's talk about her. I really don't feel
36:09the bridge here. You know it wasn't bad. It wasn't her strongest work. That wasn't my favorite. Okay so we've
36:16made our decision. Let's bring them back out. Designers this was undoubtedly the most successful show of
36:27the season. We're thrilled that you took this opportunity to push yourselves. One of you will
36:34be the winner of this challenge and one of you will be out. Designers this was undoubtedly the most
36:45successful show of the season. One of you will be the winner of this challenge and one of you will
36:52be out.
36:58Kelly. Congratulations you are the winner of this challenge.
37:03Thank you so much guys. Two in a row. That's crazy time. Okay. You really embrace this opportunity.
37:10We love where your imagination goes. This means you will also receive a cube 3D printer and all of the
37:17accessories from 3D systems. I don't even have a 2D printer so I'm so excited for the 3D printer. I
37:23know.
37:24Now you have one. I'm so excited. Keep it coming. Yes. I'm so excited. Half the time I think they're
37:31going to hate it and I hope they're going to love it.
37:33And they've been loving it and I'm really really happy and it's just giving me more confidence to be myself.
37:39Edmund, we loved your dress. It was sexy and special. Candice, great job today. In fact,
37:48it's Mel's favorite and she has something to say. Well, I have an upcoming event and I would love to
37:55wear your dress.
37:56You're kidding me. If you'd let me. I wish I could walk off and give it to you now.
38:02Dream come true. You just made a dream come true. Thank you. How often do you get to dress a
38:10woman
38:10that you've grown up admiring? I have my family and my career and my creativity and that's all I need.
38:18And today proves that. Kelly, Edmund, Candice, you're all in. You can leave the runway.
38:25Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
38:34Marlene, Ashley, one of you will be out.
38:38Ashley, your cape moved beautifully down the runway and while your look wasn't exactly what we call avant-garde,
38:44seeing your model walk down the runway made us very happy.
38:49Marlene, we could see your architectural side in your look and we love the color.
38:55We think that your use of the 3D printing was a bit of a missed opportunity.
39:03Ashley.
39:10You're in. You can leave the runway. Thank you.
39:18Marlene. I know. I'm sorry. That means you're out.
39:21It's all right. This was awesome. I'm going to miss you guys.
39:23We're going to miss you too. Bye.
39:25Can I do my happy dance? Yeah, you do your happy dance.
39:31Bye. This challenge reminded me the kind of designer that I want to be and so do I regret that?
39:38Heck no. This is my time to go. You know what I mean? And like, dude, hashtag five. So I'm
39:53not complaining.
39:53Other people are at home right now with hashtag 10, hashtag 16. I got hashtag five.
39:59Nobody's ever been able to crack that shell of mine and you most definitely did.
40:04Ugh. You're so sweet. This is crazy.
40:07Hasn't Marlene cracked everyone's shell?
40:10She has.
40:11Bye, 10.
40:13Marlene, you are incredibly talented.
40:16And I want you to work on your sewing.
40:19Bye, bye, bye, bye.
40:20Love you, Marlene. Bye.
40:21Bye, Marlene.
40:23I took so many crazy risks on this show and it's ridiculous.
40:27If I can do Project Runway under the pressure of not losing my mind, I can go to the moon
40:31and come back.
40:32I went home on something that I believe in and something that I made and something that I like.
40:37So I win.
