00:23and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional.
00:35Hello.
00:36Hi.
00:37Congratulations, everybody.
00:39The final four.
00:41Each of you will be designing a collection,
00:44but only three of you will be showing at New York Fashion Week.
00:49We want to see more from you before we make our final decision.
00:52I'm going to give each of you $9,000 in the next six weeks
00:57to create a 10-piece collection to show at Lincoln Center.
01:02And now let's bring someone out that is very near and dear to you all.
01:07You knew it would be me.
01:10Designers, I really don't have the adequate words to express how proud I am of you.
01:14And before you know it, you're going to hear a knock, knock, knock on your door.
01:19It will be me coming to check up on the development of your collection.
01:22Work hard.
01:24Wow us.
01:25Mm-hmm.
01:26And I see you, Becky, in New York.
01:28Bye, everybody.
01:29Bye.
01:30It's not over.
01:31Knowing I have to go home and bust ass for six weeks to come back to see if I can
01:36show
01:36at Fashion Week is tough.
01:42At the beginning of this whole journey, I was kind of feeling like the odd man out.
01:46But I know that there's a bigger plan for me.
01:49This is my dream and it's going to come true one way or another.
01:54Every second that goes by, it's still in my head.
01:57I'm making a Fashion Week collection.
01:59I don't want to say that I'm going to have the last laugh, but...
02:06I know that I can go home and turn out a collection that still is very me, but will surprise
02:12these
02:12judges.
02:12And that's what's going to get me to Fashion Week.
02:20I'm off to check in with our four finalists and see the progress of their collections.
02:24First up is Andy South on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
02:28The fact that Tim has come to Hawaii is exciting.
02:31I'm in touch with my roots here.
02:32I can understand that.
02:33I mean, literally and metaphorically.
02:35The world that I come from is different from everyone else and I'm happy that I can say that.
02:40Hi, Mom.
02:41Nora, I'm so thrilled to see you again.
02:43Welcome to Hawaii.
02:45Nora, this food smells wonderful.
02:47My largest supporter is definitely my mother.
02:50Be careful.
02:51And sometimes she leaves me breathless with the amount of sacrifices that she's willing to do for me.
02:57All right, let's eat.
02:59Yes.
02:59Definitely.
03:00The critique today with Tim.
03:03I'm worried because I'm still in the beginning stages of my collection.
03:07But then again, I only have two weeks left.
03:10Here we are.
03:13This is huge.
03:15Yeah.
03:15This is wonderful, Andy.
03:16This is my inspiration wall.
03:18The first image that I pulled was a picture of the Buddha Park.
03:21I've always wanted to do a collection that was inspired by home.
03:24Are you using any Laotian textiles?
03:26I am.
03:26I'm using fabric that was hand-woven in Laos.
03:29I literally got my last package yesterday.
03:32So it's all here?
03:32It's all finally here.
03:34I've been thinking about this concept and adding ideas and adding so many things, but I don't know what the
03:39clothing looks like.
03:40And I understand what's been holding you back.
03:42It's been the arrival of these, but now that they're here, you've got to go, go, go.
03:46Go figure.
03:47Andy is down to the wire.
03:48I'll see you in a mere two weeks.
03:50Hopefully I figure this out, babe.
03:52Two weeks for ten looks.
03:54Bye, Andy.
03:55Bye.
03:55That really scares me.
04:05Next, I'm off to see Michael Costello in Palm Springs, California.
04:09How are we packing the shoes?
04:11Um, good question.
04:13I'm really excited.
04:14Just to have Tim coming over to your house is pretty damn cool.
04:21Michael!
04:22Hi.
04:23I'm thrilled to see you.
04:24This is Richard.
04:25Hi, Richard.
04:26How are you?
04:27Nice to meet you.
04:27Nice to meet you, too.
04:28Richard's helping me pack for the big day.
04:31I took inspiration from the sky and I just fell in love with the colors.
04:35This is a fringe top that's just, you know, being held together.
04:40I'll say.
04:41By what?
04:42By, like, just glue until it gets stitched.
04:44It's a lot of pressure.
04:45You have to present ten amazing pieces.
04:48I'm gonna push myself.
04:50I'm gonna make 150 pieces if I can.
04:52Here alone, you have 12 looks.
04:54True.
04:55And then we have the reject rack.
04:56The reject rack.
04:57Which has, what, six looks on it?
04:59So we have 18 looks.
05:01It's like design diarrhea.
05:03And it's just...
05:05That's so nice.
05:06You've gotta bring some editing to this.
05:08All right?
05:08So, let's go get some air.
05:10Guess who's here?
05:11Giovanni's here.
05:12You can't wait to see you.
05:12Oh, I can't wait to see Giovanni.
05:14So who's coming to New York for Fashion Week?
05:17Richard.
05:18I am.
05:19Giovanni?
05:20Giovanni's gonna be in school with my mom.
05:24Well, Richard will be there for you.
05:26I don't think his parents should be there.
05:29Because...
05:29His parents haven't been the supporter.
05:32They just started being the supporter since he got on the show.
05:34For the past four years, it's been them telling him he needs to give it up.
05:40You're not talented.
05:41It's hard.
05:42It really is.
05:43On February 28, 2007, Richard outed me to my mom and dad.
05:49I was terrified.
05:51My mom and dad, they did give up on me for a little bit.
05:54You know, this is a big thing for Michael.
05:56To make it this far for him, it's amazing.
05:58Yes.
05:59Winning would be so amazing.
06:01Proving to my family that I can do it and be the best.
06:04I'm still nervous, though.
06:10Coming up on Project Runway.
06:12You were trying too hard.
06:13I don't feel like I'm trying too hard.
06:14I want to show them exactly who I am.
06:28Next, I'm off to see Mondo Guerra in Denver, Colorado.
06:33Oh, Lord.
06:35Mondo!
06:36Hi.
06:37This is it.
06:38Glad to see you.
06:40One day you're in and probably for the next few years you're going to be out.
06:44So I don't want to, I don't want to F it up.
06:47What a great space.
06:50I kind of wanted to stay true to my upbringing and being in the neighborhood.
06:54So I started like looking at vintage circuses in Mexico City.
07:01I wanted something a little gritty.
07:03Okay.
07:03So kind of creepy.
07:04So then I started getting into the Day of the Dead.
07:07As you can see, all my fabrics are all these neutrals.
07:10And what are the screens for?
07:11I'm going to silk screen a t-shirt dress.
07:13Well, this is the marriage of Day of the Dead with the Clowns.
07:16Yeah.
07:16I'm intrigued.
07:17For my final collection, it's still Mondo, but it's like polished.
07:22You know, when I was looking at the circus, a lot of the trapeze artists wear those harnesses,
07:26you know?
07:27I don't want anything to have a feeling that you were trying too hard.
07:31I don't feel like I'm trying too hard.
07:32I want to show them exactly who I am.
07:36Oh man, I am so, so, so, so close.
07:39Like I can taste it.
07:40I'm so proud of you.
07:42This is my train.
07:43And welcome.
07:44Aw, thank you, Jerry.
07:46Welcome.
07:46Welcome.
07:48So how are you all feeling about what's happening to Mondo?
07:52Pretty amazing.
07:53Excited.
07:55Aw.
07:57Growing up in a Mexican Catholic family, they have different expectations of what you should
08:02be doing.
08:03But I am happy.
08:05You might doubt that you're cool because you draw or you paint and you're not outside playing
08:12baseball, you know?
08:13You are cool.
08:14Beautiful.
08:15It just might take a little while.
08:24Finally, I'm off to see Gretchen Jones in Portland, Oregon.
08:28Aw, how sweet that is.
08:31I really missed Tim.
08:34But I also feel really proud of what I've created and I'm really excited to show him.
08:41The collection is really based on taking my rural western roots and then dabbling with
08:46cultures from around the world that are also rural.
08:50What I wanted to do is play with safari or tribal things in a way that's very sophisticated.
08:55It's looking costumey.
08:57All she needs is a lot of turquoise jewelry and a headband, you know?
09:02Right.
09:02You're not going to be neutral.
09:03You're going to love it or you're going to hate it.
09:04But that's what you want.
09:06You want it to be a bit of, what is that?
09:09Okay.
09:10Freak.
09:11I have no idea what anybody else is making, but I think what I'm making is worthy of a
09:17win.
09:17How beautiful this is.
09:19So, Kate, where did all this come from?
09:22You know, I don't know, but from a very young age, if her tights weren't perfect, we did
09:28not go to preschool.
09:29You are a control freak.
09:31Mm-hmm.
09:31This has been an invaluable experience.
09:35To your continued success.
09:37As well as one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life.
09:41Coming up on Project Runway.
09:43What do you think?
09:44It's always going to be evil, no matter what's in it.
09:46You know what this is?
09:47What?
09:51This jersey dress will look like crap.
09:52I feel like this is the end.
10:08Man, I'm back in New York and we're staying at the Hilton.
10:12I don't think I've ever slept in a bag that big.
10:16I'm more scared than excited about being back in New York.
10:21It's still not down to the final three yet.
10:23Boo!
10:27Michael!
10:28Did I scare you?
10:29God!
10:30That was awful.
10:31How are you doing?
10:32We'll just scare you.
10:34Your pants scare me.
10:37Andy.
10:38Last of the Mohicans.
10:39I'm in love with Andy's hair.
10:41Unbelievable.
10:42He looks like Pocahontas meets Naomi Campbell.
10:49Congratulations!
10:51Hi!
10:53Walking into the Hilton suite is kind of overwhelming.
10:57I just missed everybody.
10:59They're my boys.
11:01Hi!
11:02This is what happens when you leave your door unlocked.
11:07Well, first of all, welcome to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
11:10and to the Hilton New York.
11:12Isn't this fabulous?
11:13Yes.
11:14And...
11:15Oh, Lord.
11:17It's in his hand.
11:19Oh, God.
11:20It's always going to be evil, no matter what's in it.
11:23You know what this is?
11:24The Hilton is giving each of you your choice of a resort vacation,
11:31either in the Hilton Barbados...
11:32Oh, my God.
11:33The Hilton Papagaya Costa Rica Resort & Spa,
11:36or, Andy, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort.
11:40Oh, my God!
11:41It's a trip for two, so you can take me.
11:44Whoa!
11:45Finally, something good came out of the button bag.
11:48Have a good night's sleep tonight,
11:50because beginning tomorrow, it's going to be a long haul.
11:54to our finale show.
11:56Extremely proud of all of you.
11:57And we'll see you in the morning.
11:58All right.
11:59Thank you so much, Tim.
12:00Bye, everyone.
12:01See you tomorrow.
12:19There's a lot on my mind right now.
12:21The pressure of having this chance to really fight for this last spot.
12:27Good morning, designers.
12:29As you all know, four of you will be competing for three spaces at Mercedes Men's Fashion Week.
12:35And in order to determine which three of the four of you will move forward,
12:39you will be presenting three looks to the judges.
12:43Two of those looks will come from your collection.
12:48One look you will design and create over the next two days.
12:53Use this additional look to enhance the current collection.
12:57I'm giving you 30 minutes to sketch, then we're going to move where you'll have a budget of $300.
13:02All right, I'll be back in 30 minutes, everyone.
13:07What I'm looking for in this third piece is to create maybe a little bit more casual dress.
13:12I want my collection to be cohesive, and I can't think of what else I want to show.
13:24I came up with this design of a one-sided shoulder dress.
13:30That's pretty.
13:32I'm going to look for fabrics that's going to be able to blend into this collection.
13:35The thing is, I don't know if I can even match this green,
13:38because it's a really hard green to match.
13:39All right, everyone, time is up.
13:42Thank you, Mood.
13:49I've decided I'm just going to go with my original fabric, an all-green look.
13:52The pleats that I'm doing are really detailed, and it gives you a lot of depth to a fabric that
13:57already has a lot of depth.
13:59I'm working on this jersey dress.
14:01I just want it to look fluid and have a nice flow, but I thought it looked like crap.
14:05I've wasted yet another day on a two-day challenge.
14:09I feel like this is the end.
14:14Coming up on Project Runway.
14:15I'm worried about you.
14:16I'm worried about me, too.
14:17Mondo, Gretchen, and Andy.
14:19Don't choke.
14:21Designers and models, we're going to the runway.
14:23I have to be there.
14:25This is my dream.
14:42Designers, how is everybody?
14:43Hi, Tim.
14:44Good.
14:45I think we're good.
14:45All right.
14:46I'm here to check in with you, see how you're doing.
14:49What are you showing this with?
14:50Which two looks from the collection are going to be presented to the judges?
14:53That's what I'm having a hard time with.
14:55You don't know?
14:56I'm worried about you.
14:57Having Tim worry about me scares me.
15:00His opinion means a lot to me.
15:02I needed a youthful, playful dress.
15:05You have it.
15:06Yeah.
15:07To be blunt, I think you could pick pieces at random from the rack and have continuity.
15:13Well, that makes me feel better.
15:14Okay, I feel good leaving you.
15:15Great, thank you very much.
15:16Thank you, Gretchen.
15:17Have a good day.
15:18Well, Mondo wouldn't be Mondo without being surrounded by Flotsam and Jetsam.
15:22Hi.
15:23This is the pit.
15:24This is my area.
15:25That's what I'm doing.
15:26I wanted to bring in more color into the collection, so I did this turquoise top with the pink,
15:30and then I did the square pyramid studs just to contrast against the polka dot.
15:36Love the look.
15:37Thanks, Mondo.
15:39So how's Andy?
15:41Good.
15:41Pretty good.
15:41So which is the new look?
15:43The new look is this green piece.
15:45Wow.
15:46Who did the pleating?
15:47I did.
15:48How?
15:49I did.
15:49In this little teeny bit of time.
15:51I'm a fast worker.
15:52I have a pleating board actually that helped me.
15:54Well, you are a fast worker because I'm looking at what's on the rack.
15:56Yeah, there's a lot of pieces.
15:57And considering where you were when I left you, I've been worried about you nonstop.
16:03I would be worried too.
16:03I think you're in superb shape.
16:04It makes me feel a lot better.
16:05Yeah, you should.
16:06Okay.
16:07All right.
16:07Thank you, Andy.
16:08Thank you, Tim.
16:09All right, designers.
16:11I have the following to say to Mondo and Bridgen and Andy.
16:15Carry on.
16:16Continue this fabulous trajectory, okay?
16:20Michael, Costello, don't choke.
16:24Okay?
16:25You're welcome.
16:26All right.
16:26Bye, everybody.
16:27I'll see you later.
16:28Take care.
16:29Bye, Kim.
16:31I'll be okay.
16:35Okay, let's go, ladies.
16:49Good morning, designers.
16:52You have two hours to send your models to the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room in the Garnier
16:56Hair Salon.
16:57If you choose to use the Piper Lime accessory wall, you certainly may.
17:00And I'm sending in your models.
17:02Thank you, Tim.
17:12All in all, I'm really happy and looking forward to seeing this stuff on models.
17:17Now that I'm seeing everything come together the way that I intended it to, it's looking
17:22really good.
17:25Basically, I want a little bit of, like, shine just to create that really beautiful look.
17:29The center part, kind of barrel rolled out a little.
17:32These just go right into the front.
17:39Severe smoky eye.
17:40Like a panda eye.
17:41A really, um, pretty peachy coral lit.
17:44A little gold shimmer through the lid.
17:47I'm nervous.
17:48Can you tell?
17:48A little bit.
17:49All right.
17:50All right.
17:52All right.
17:53Bye, guys.
17:58Designers and models, in ten minutes we're going to the runway, all right?
18:02Ten minutes, everyone.
18:04Thanks, Tim.
18:06I want to go to Lincoln Center.
18:08I want a show at Fashion Week.
18:10I have to be there.
18:12I want you guys to line up there.
18:14There are people who have believed in me from the beginning.
18:17And this is kind of my way of showing them that they were right.
18:23It's all or nothing.
18:25This is my dream.
18:26It's really my dream.
18:27This is what I've always wanted.
18:31I'm so close.
18:35Coming up on Project One Way.
18:37My interest was not piqued.
18:39I just hope that the circus doesn't come to town.
18:42You have to pump up the volume.
18:44You might be out today.
18:46That's a real big gamble.
19:02Hello, everybody.
19:03Hi.
19:04Welcome back to New York and welcome back to the runway.
19:08Tonight, we'll decide which three of you will compete at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
19:13and which one of you will be out.
19:18Tonight, you will show us two looks that you feel best represent your collection
19:22and a brand new look that we had you create when you arrived here in New York.
19:28Let's say hello to the judges.
19:30First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
19:34Hey, guys.
19:35Hi.
19:37And Fashion Director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
19:41Welcome back.
19:42Thanks.
19:43All right.
19:44Let's start the show.
19:55I set out to show the judges a certain side of me, and I feel I've accomplished that.
20:04I want to do something that's very me, but a lighter version to really show that there's
20:09a maturity of editing that I've learned.
20:14That has such pretty movement.
20:21I'm really in love with my 11th look.
20:24I just absolutely think it's a great piece, and I think it's perfect to fit into my collection.
20:41I'm not going to say I don't love my collection because I'd be lying.
20:44I love every single piece.
20:51It looks like chocolate.
20:56Everything just needs to look flawless because it's Lincoln Center, and the judges want to
21:01send people who are worthy.
21:03Everyone's expecting for me to just send 20 dresses down a runway, but there's pants,
21:08there's some separates, there's some tops, and I do think that I have the potential to win this.
21:30I like my looks.
21:31I think they're pretty.
21:33I feel like it represented my favorite look and a little bit of drama while trying to incorporate
21:39hats and jewelry and accessories and street and a little bit of magical drama.
21:53I just want to get through.
21:55I just want to make it to Fashion Week.
22:05I'm feeling really good watching my girls walk down the runway.
22:16My mini collection looks very cohesive, and it looks just like that.
22:21It looks exactly like Mondo, and I wouldn't change a thing from head to toe.
22:28I think that it is 100% who I am, and you know, they might like it, they might not,
22:35but I'm ecstatic.
22:46I think that it is 100%.
22:47Three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
22:51And one of you will be out.
23:04Three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and one of you will be out.
23:11Mondo, we're going to speak to you first, let's bring out your models.
23:20How do these three looks represent your collection?
23:22It's a little of everything.
23:24You know, I love to mix prints, and for this collection, I did a lot of screen printing,
23:29which I introduced with the bag that Ian's holding.
23:32For this one, I wanted to keep it a little plain with more neutral kind of palette, and
23:38so with all my accessories, I've done a lot of color.
23:43If he's wearing my creation I did this week.
23:47I love the skirt on the new outfit, and I like the blouse on that outfit.
23:52I like the individual pieces.
23:53People can do their own thing with it, I think that's a plus.
23:56I do like the skirt a lot with the little yellow belt, but I do not like this turquoise top.
24:03I love this dress.
24:05I think it's spectacular.
24:06Will you give us a once around?
24:09I think it's so nice.
24:11I think it's actually very elegant.
24:14I love the boldness.
24:16I love the theatricality that you bring to a show.
24:20Having said that, I disagree with Heidi on this polka dot dress.
24:25When it gets too wacky, that's when I'm worried about.
24:28I don't want people to not take you seriously and think that you're putting on a circus collection.
24:34I think the reality is you want to be true to yourself as a designer, but I hope there's some
24:40balance.
24:41Okay.
24:41There are some pieces that I think you might be surprised to see.
24:45Thank you Mondo.
24:46Models.
24:46You can use the runway.
24:54Andy.
24:54I was really inspired by the Buddha park in Vientiane Laos.
24:59My new look is this green.
25:01I think the green is sophisticated.
25:03I love the color and I think it looks really well made.
25:06This green dress sinks.
25:08It's sharp, but romantic.
25:10The color's great.
25:12It looks very bare.
25:14Is there a range?
25:16There is.
25:16There's definitely a range in the collection.
25:19I didn't show you, obviously.
25:21Right, but you might be out today.
25:23That's a real big gamble.
25:24My dilemma with making the choice was like, do I give you all the goodies now, or do I...
25:30Well, yeah.
25:30Yeah.
25:31Today is the day.
25:31You got to sell us today.
25:32This is it.
25:35Okay.
25:36Thank you to the models.
25:38You can use the runway.
25:48Michael.
25:48I wanted to show you that I am able to create pieces that can help you to make a lot
25:52of
25:52and have some structure.
25:53My 11th look was this dress right here.
25:57And there's some great pieces in my collection.
26:01I like the gown because it looks effortless.
26:03It doesn't look worked.
26:04It looks like the fabric just went on and it moves.
26:08I like the back.
26:09The dress is good at every angle.
26:11I am amazed that you decided to do everything in the same color.
26:16It looks like they're all going to the same party where there is not a dress code, but
26:21a color code.
26:22I just wanted to create something that would look like a collection.
26:26It can't be that what turns it into a collection is a color palette only.
26:32It really has to tell a story.
26:35Absolutely right.
26:36Michael, we've heard what you had to say.
26:38Models, thank you.
26:39You can use the runway.
26:51Gretchen.
26:52With my three looks, what I really wanted to represent was what I think are key elements
26:57to my collection.
26:58My 11th look, where I was missing an element, was referencing this type of silhouette and doing
27:06so in a manner that was a little bit more casual, but I also didn't want to reveal too much.
27:11I just wanted to peak your interest enough that you'd want to see more.
27:15It feels a little crunchy granola.
27:18They're still walking on a runway at Lincoln Center.
27:21I mean, the only glimmer of hope that I have of somewhat polish is this look that you did
27:28in leather.
27:29With this linen sack dress, I'm really seriously wondering, where are the Birkenstocks?
27:35You have to give these girls a little more oomph from the hair, from the makeup, from
27:39the shoes.
27:40I don't know where you're going to get it from.
27:41I think the pieces are great, but something has to be different.
27:45I think you should put them all in high heels.
27:47It gives them different posture.
27:49They walk different.
27:50They're a little sassier because they're all like schlomping along.
27:53They're a bit like, hey dude, what's going on?
27:55I think you've got to like sit here and think about how would I reconfigure this to make
28:01it look more expensive.
28:02And let me ask you a question, the opposite of Michael's situation.
28:07His girl, you know, doesn't get out of bed until midnight.
28:10And your girl, I think like when the sun goes down, she has to lock herself in the house.
28:15No, that's not true.
28:16I have multiple options.
28:17I have a cocktail dress.
28:19I have what I consider my version of a red carpet dress.
28:24Yes.
28:24I have.
28:25So once again, I don't get how you guys edited today.
28:29Yeah, me neither.
28:29I don't get it.
28:30It's weird.
28:30It's...
28:32It's about enticing us with the variety of what you have to show so that we're curious
28:39about what's next.
28:40Models, thank you.
28:41You can leave the runway.
28:43We're going to have a little chat and then I'll call you back out.
28:46You can leave the runway.
28:58That was intense.
29:00We just all right now at this moment need to take a deep breath and just know what's coming
29:06and try and try really hard to deal with it.
29:10We're right there.
29:11We're right here.
29:12We're like minutes.
29:14Girl.
29:19We're one week away from fashion week and we hammered into them today.
29:24I feel a little bit bad.
29:26But this is the...
29:26This is the do or die moment.
29:28Yes.
29:28And this is the opportunity for them to correct anything that is missing and for us to voice
29:33our concerns.
29:34I'm concerned.
29:35I'm very concerned with what they actually decided to show us.
29:38Yeah.
29:39All right.
29:39Let's talk about Gretchen.
29:41I happen to like her outfits.
29:43I like that she knows who she is and she stood by that.
29:46Which is granola.
29:47No, I mean it wasn't granola deluxe.
29:50That's what happened.
29:51It's too reality based.
29:52We need a good show.
29:54Right.
29:54And do you think she will be able to do that or do you think it will be a granola
29:58festival?
29:59The hat with the leather jacket gave me a glimmer of hope.
30:04But I certainly think that there is an attitude to the clothes which I think is interesting.
30:09And I think there's nothing wrong with granola.
30:11But it has to be fashion show granola.
30:16Let's talk about Mundo.
30:19I love that he has the showmanship.
30:21He has it in spades.
30:23Right.
30:23He needs a little bit of gratitude.
30:25Yeah.
30:25They need to balance it.
30:27Yes.
30:27They need to balance each other.
30:28He runs the risk of being taken as a joke.
30:32And that's what I am concerned about.
30:35That's true.
30:35Once you lose that credibility, you can't regain it.
30:37You lose all the people.
30:38Right.
30:39I know what you mean, but I feel like he has a fine line in a way.
30:43The skirt was great.
30:44The blouse was great.
30:45He uses color really well.
30:47He mixes sprints really well.
30:50He takes a lot of risks.
30:52They're all well made too.
30:54I mean, they look really good.
30:55I just hope, honestly, that the circus doesn't come to town.
31:00Yeah.
31:01I mean, that's what you really have to worry about.
31:05All right.
31:06Let's talk about Michael.
31:07Michael's are like, I don't know, they're like stage costume cocktail wear.
31:12What was he thinking?
31:13What was Michael thinking?
31:14I mean, really?
31:15Why are they all in the same color?
31:17I understand.
31:17I think that in his mind, he thought, well, if they're all the same color, that equals
31:23a collection.
31:24Yeah.
31:24Right.
31:24I mean...
31:25And that's not a collection.
31:26He is a great draper, though.
31:27He does have good angles of the woman's body.
31:31Those are his best things.
31:32I mean, the way, you know, her back in the slit and the way, I mean, it did move.
31:37Beautifully.
31:37I mean, he is very, very good at that.
31:40He's a fine designer.
31:41So, did he bring these today because he thought these were the razzle-dazzle?
31:46And are there some beautiful, elegant, simple pieces that he didn't show us?
31:50I don't know.
31:54Let's move on to Andy.
31:57Andy?
31:58Oh.
31:59He actually said, oh, you know, I didn't bring today my best pieces.
32:04He wanted to surprise us with a fairy bikini with a cape.
32:07The cape going under the boots.
32:11Under the boots.
32:11And, excuse me, from what I've seen here, it's evening wear and a bikini.
32:17I haven't seen any day clothes yet.
32:20I do think he has listened to us.
32:23I think he's managed to, you know, kind of tame that toughness and he's trying to push
32:31it.
32:31He's trying to bring in a sense of drama.
32:34He has ideas.
32:35He thinks out of the box.
32:37Unfortunately, today, I think what he brought to show us, they're disastrous.
32:41Yeah.
32:41The green dress was the best thing.
32:42Yeah.
32:43And I do like the colors.
32:45I like the colors.
32:46I don't know.
32:46To me, he's iffy.
32:48He is iffy.
32:52So we've made our decision.
32:54Yes, we have.
32:55Of who's going to Fashion Week.
32:56Absolutely.
32:57Yes.
32:57Okay, let's bring them back out.
33:15Three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and one of you will be out.
33:28Three of you will be competing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and one of you will be out.
33:35First of all, I want to congratulate all of you for making it this far.
33:40All of you, without exception, have grown and evolved as designers during your time on
33:47Project Runway and you should be proud of that.
33:51Mondo, we loved your showmanship, but don't go too far.
33:55There's a fine line between fashion and costume.
34:02Congratulations, Mondo.
34:03You're going to Lincoln Center.
34:06You can leave the runway.
34:08Yay!
34:19Gretchen, the attitude of your looks will vary you, but you have to keep in mind that these
34:26clothes are going down the runway.
34:27You need to polish your looks and elevate your styling.
34:33Congratulations, Gretchen.
34:35You're going to Fashion Week.
34:36Thank you so much.
34:38You can leave the runway.
34:43cream.
34:47The pattern.
34:47Tell me.
34:52Good.
34:55I'm wrong.
34:56Girl!
34:56No.
35:05Andy, Michael, one of you will go to Fashion Week,
35:08and one of you will be out.
35:13Andy, we think that you did yourself a disservice
35:16with the looks that you showed us today.
35:18Your swimsuit and cover-up were underwhelming.
35:22And ironically, your last-minute look was our favorite.
35:29Michael, the monotone color scheme of what you showed today
35:33really worried us.
35:35Your craftsmanship was clear, but we
35:39wonder if you have something new to say as a designer.
35:51Andy.
36:00Congratulations.
36:02You're in.
36:03And you're showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
36:07Thank you very much.
36:27Are you in?
36:35I made it, and I'm so thankful that I'm getting this chance.
36:41At the same time, it feels really crappy that Michael isn't going to.
36:52Michael.
36:53Michael, you should be very proud of what you've done.
36:56You're a great designer, and we all think
36:58that you have a great future ahead of you.
37:01Michael, I'm sorry, you're out.
37:12Thank you so much.
37:14Thank you, Michael.
37:42I can't take it, guys. I can't.
37:48I can't.
37:59It's okay. It's okay.
38:01I just didn't have the strength like I thought I would have to get through.
38:08I just couldn't take it.
38:12The first thing that came to my head was my family.
38:14It's just I feel like once they see it, they're going to say,
38:18well, you see? Just give that up now.
38:21Move back home. Come live with us.
38:28Come here.
38:32You're incredibly, incredibly talented.
38:35You did fabulous, fabulous work.
38:38And it's at the whim of the judges now.
38:41You know?
38:42You're one of the final four.
38:44This is an extraordinary moment for you.
38:47Extraordinary.
38:48It's not that I'm happy about making it there, but I just don't know what to tell my family about
38:54Fashion Week.
38:55It was them. They had so much high expectations of me going and everything.
39:03Michael, the fact that you're this far is extraordinary.
39:07Yeah, I know.
39:09Extraordinary.
39:10You know?
39:12The stuff I did to get this far.
39:15The stuff you did to get this far.
39:17Michael.
39:17Don't cry for me.
39:18Don't cry for me. Just be happy.
39:19No.
39:20Be strong and give him hell.
39:22Yeah.
39:22Give him hell.
39:23Yes!
39:26Listen, you should be so proud of where you are right now.
39:30It's an extraordinary, extraordinary moment for you.
39:34Okay?
39:35Okay.
39:35Okay.
39:36Now send me to the work room at the back of my space.
39:41Alright.
39:44Take your knees with me.
39:45Okay, Michael.
39:47We love you.
39:48I love you too.
39:49And you're incredibly talented.
39:51We're going to see much more of you.
39:52Yes.
39:53Alright?
39:53I will.
39:54Okay.
39:55This isn't the end for Michael Costello.
39:58This is just the beginning.
40:00I love you.
40:00He really beat the odds.
40:02So many people didn't think that he'd make it this far.
40:06And I'm so proud of him.
40:07Take it home.
40:08I love you, Michael.
40:09I learned so much being on Project OneWay.
40:13I learned that friends are hard to find and hard to make.
40:18And it hurts when you have to say goodbye to them.
40:24I learned who I am as a designer.
40:26And I love my designs.
40:28And I love everything about my collection.
40:32Effortless chic.
40:33That's me.
