00:01Previously on Project Runway
00:03For this challenge, you are creating your own version of an alternative wedding dress.
00:08For this challenge, you'll be working in teams of two.
00:11I hate team challenges.
00:13Sandhya, your teammate will be...
00:15Sharquita!
00:16I'm kind of worried for this challenge.
00:18Sandhya is headstrong.
00:20I'm worried.
00:21It's a tough color, ladies.
00:22I'm struggling to try to just finish my garment.
00:25This was the best of the best for me on the runway.
00:31This is the dream team.
00:32Sean, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:35Thank you very much.
00:37Oh, it's overwhelming.
00:39Yours is like a bunch of scraps sewn together.
00:42Sharquita, I'm sorry you're out.
00:44Okay.
00:45I'm sure.
00:46You pray for this moment, you get it.
00:48You try to do your best.
00:49That's all you can do.
00:50Just gonna miss you.
00:55I feel bad for Shar.
01:12And as a team mate, you feel responsible for your team member.
01:17Shar is gone and she's taken the sunshine.
01:20Like, it's going to be a little quiet and a lot more sad in the workroom that she's gone.
01:27I miss her.
01:28She's really funny.
01:29Sean winning another challenge.
01:31Damn it.
01:32I think that these two wins really solidify myself as a designer to the judges and hopefully
01:39that they will continue to get me high marks to get through.
01:43I would actually love to win it one more time and have immunity for one more week.
02:04Good morning, designers.
02:05Good morning, Tim.
02:06Your runway looks a little different than usual, does it not?
02:10We decided to add some panache and it's all quite stunning.
02:14I want you to join me in welcoming our special guest, the co-president and artistic director
02:19of Chopard, Caroline Choyfilet.
02:22Hello.
02:23Pleasure to meet you.
02:24Designers, I'm sure you know, Chopard is world famous and renowned for our high jewelry
02:29and watches.
02:30I have selected some special pieces from our latest collection and I hope you will be very
02:35inspired.
02:36For this challenge, you are creating an extravagant evening wear look.
02:41You will each be choosing a jewel that catches your eye.
02:46And your model will wear the jewel or jewels on the runway.
02:49Oh my God.
02:50This is your moment to really wow the judges and pull out all the stops.
02:56You will have one day for this challenge and Caroline is our guest judge for this challenge
03:01and no one knows better than she what looks best with Chopard.
03:05Caroline, thank you so much and we'll see you back here tomorrow on the runway.
03:10Bye.
03:13So designers, in order to choose your jewel, you need to see what's in the display cases
03:18and it's going to be in the order in which I choose you from our button bag.
03:21Though Sean, as the winner of the last challenge, you get to go first.
03:25Oh.
03:26I choose the diamond necklace which kind of fans out with sapphires, earrings and a ring.
03:31And next is...
03:32Keene.
03:33Oh.
03:34I'm choosing a diamond hoop earring with a huge diamond rock.
03:40All right.
03:41Samantha.
03:42To match your glasses.
03:43Karina.
03:44Oh.
03:45My strengths aren't gowns.
03:46It's not red carpet.
03:47So I'm kind of trying to take this challenge as a challenge, obviously, and then make it my own.
04:01My choice is definitely a huge statement piece.
04:04It had a little bit of edge to it.
04:06So I'm excited to see what I can come up with.
04:08I gotta do it.
04:10They have hearts on them.
04:11My last name is Valentine.
04:13Alexander.
04:14Yay.
04:15These jewels are worth more than everything that I own.
04:19And it's a little intimidating just designing around something like that.
04:24Such a modest piece.
04:25You know.
04:26All right, designers.
04:27Now I'm sending you to the work room where you will have 30 minutes to sketch.
04:31And then we're going shopping at Mood.
04:33So head off.
04:41Something is weighing heavily on me and, quite frankly, has kept me up all night.
04:46Tim.
04:47If this were several challenges from now, I'd save you in a heartbeat.
04:51Oh, thank you, Tim.
04:52Just the thought of that makes me smile.
04:57Designers, I apologize for interrupting, but I need you to gather around for a minute.
05:06Okay?
05:11Something's been weighing very heavily on me.
05:14Someone's behind the pillar.
05:15I can't see and I hear just everyone.
05:22You don't know why you're here, do you?
05:23No.
05:25Char walks in and she looks about as confused as we do.
05:33Well, when I presented the challenge to the designers, I realized that there was a big void among them.
05:41And that void is you.
05:42Are you serious?
05:43I'm using my Tim Gun save.
05:45Oh, my God.
05:51Are you serious?
05:53Couldn't be more serious.
05:54You get over here, girl.
05:55You get over here.
05:57I'm glad that Char's back.
05:58She is a wonderful person.
06:00It's a nice feeling, you know, you get a second chance and I really hope that she can prove to the judges that she can stay here.
06:06I'm so floored, like, oh yay, somebody's back.
06:11And then you realize, wait, you just used your Tim Gun save.
06:15Save is gone.
06:17Now there's no second chances.
06:19It makes everyone have to put on their A-game that much more.
06:23I think everybody is sweating it now.
06:26So let me tell you about this challenge.
06:27Okay, let me get my head back in the game.
06:28Okay.
06:29Get your head back on.
06:30Okay.
06:31You can either choose these earrings or these earrings and bracelet.
06:37Okay, so it's like an elegant evening wear kind of.
06:40Right.
06:41Okay.
06:42I think I'm gonna go with this.
06:43You got it.
06:44Yeah.
06:45I decided to go with the turquoise earrings and the tan and crystal bracelet.
06:50I definitely have my A-game on and I'm so grateful for my second chance and I'm ready to just, you know, show Tim that I am the designer that he believed in.
06:59Designers, we are taking a field trip.
07:02There is an incredible exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
07:05It's called Charles James Beyond Fashion.
07:08Wow.
07:09He was especially famous for extravagant evening wear.
07:12So I want you to be exposed to this and not have your designs be fully baked until we see that exhibition.
07:19Okay?
07:20Yay!
07:22To be able to go to the Met today and to see a Charles James exhibit, I mean, it's amazing.
07:29Have at us.
07:30Oh, wow.
07:32It's wonderful to be able to see everything deconstructed.
07:37Yeah, it's crazy.
07:38And so, and there's the pattern.
07:41Charles James gowns are so intricately made.
07:44I tend to keep things really clean and straight, so it's going to be interesting to see how this influence takes me to the next level.
07:51Designers, I would love to have you spend the whole day here, but we have to get to mood and then get back to the workroom, alright?
07:57Bye, Charles James.
07:58Go, go, go.
07:59I don't want to make the same mistake I did last week, so I'm running so far away from yellow at this point.
08:15No yellow for me for this challenge.
08:19I want to do a nice blue fitted bodice top dress with a flowy bottom.
08:25So, you know, just really beautiful gown.
08:27My first gown.
08:28Scary.
08:30Designers, you have five minutes remaining.
08:33Five minutes, everyone.
08:36I know that I want to do a coat.
08:40I'm going to do a really simple dress.
08:43I'm going to spend all my time working on this coat.
08:46It is this gorgeous red Southwest print velvet.
08:51It is probably the most beautiful fabric I have ever seen.
08:54So, it's perfect for this challenge because it's really going to set me apart from everyone else.
09:01Sean and I's fabric are pretty much a clear match.
09:04So, I have a feeling they're going to say, who's blue is better?
09:07We'll see how that turns out.
09:11I'll just put it in my bag.
09:13In terms of Sean and Sam, I think it's a huge risk that they have the same color.
09:17So, you guys got the same fabric, huh?
09:21It's similar.
09:22Oh.
09:23Coming up on Project Runway.
09:25Oh, man.
09:26Oh, snap.
09:27It's looking very prim.
09:30I think they're going to go for blood.
09:40Our challenge is to design a gala look based on and around our piece of Chopard jewelry.
09:50Did you see I'm wearing my Chopard wand?
09:54Oh, my gosh.
09:55You're going to get mugged.
09:56Be careful.
09:57I am going to make a 50s style sheer overdress with possibly a jumpsuit underneath.
10:04It might be too much, but the judges, they love seeing something they haven't seen before.
10:09I'm hoping they appreciate the risk.
10:11I always make such a mess.
10:14I love the way that I'm manipulating the crinkled taffeta around the form because I was really
10:20inspired at the Charles James exhibit at how the fabric looked like it had just formed naturally
10:26around the body.
10:27I hope that the judges see my technique in this dress.
10:35Oh, man.
10:36I've never done, like, an evening gown, so it's going to get the best of me, I swear.
10:41I'm pretty nervous.
10:42I've never designed evening wear ever in my life.
10:45It's never been something that I've wanted to do.
10:47I do street wear separates.
10:48It's very urban, cool, edgy.
10:52I've never been to a gala.
10:53I've never even been to a wedding.
10:57I'm trying to play around with, like, stiffness and drapey.
11:06That's going to be hot.
11:07I'm trying to show my hard technical skill with my attention to soft, delicate flowiness.
11:16It's not even shaped right.
11:18If that fit doesn't look right, the judges will crucify me for it.
11:22Hi.
11:23So I'm here to check in with you.
11:28Amanda.
11:29Hi.
11:30What is your jewelry piece?
11:31The heart bracelet.
11:33Okay.
11:34I'm not a big flowy gown.
11:35No.
11:36Kind of girl.
11:37But I want to push myself into different silhouettes.
11:39So it's a sheer dress, totally piecework, kind of having fun with some heart shapes.
11:44And under it, a black jumpsuit.
11:50Can I talk to you about your style lines for a minute?
11:52Yeah?
11:53What?
11:54In the back.
11:55What you're calling hearts, I read as harlequin.
11:57Oh, really?
11:58Yeah.
11:59Okay.
12:00You have a ton of work to do, though.
12:01I have just an absolute ton.
12:03Sharquita, welcome back.
12:04Hi, Tim.
12:06I was inspired by the Charles James exhibit, and I like how he did abstract lines.
12:12So...
12:13Why are you using that neckline?
12:16You don't want this to look bridal.
12:19It's looking very prim.
12:23Sharquita, you have to promise me you're going to get through this challenge.
12:26Oh.
12:27Okay.
12:28This is not a shrinking viola's.
12:32Nope.
12:33Wow.
12:34Tell me what you're doing.
12:35I'm going to do a really dramatic coat, and then just a really simple black dress underneath.
12:40I'm inspired by blankets from the Northwest, so this kind of reminds me of what I originally
12:45came here to do.
12:46Well, it definitely has that vibe.
12:49What happens to this very large-scale pattern, where you have to create seams in order to construct
12:56the coat?
12:57It's all off by about an inch.
13:00What the heck am I going to do to fix this?
13:03I think they're going to go for blood, which isn't good.
13:13How are you, Sean?
13:14I'm very good, thank you.
13:16I thought the jewelry was very, like, almost regal.
13:19Yes, royal.
13:20It was like the royal family jewels or something.
13:22And it's royal blue.
13:24This is a simple silhouette, but I can see all the complexities in making it simple.
13:28This has more flair coming out the back.
13:30Like, the front has small flair, so it goes like...
13:33I have to tell you, it's stunning.
13:35For me, it's a wow moment.
13:36It's beautiful.
13:39How's Samantha?
13:41I'm doing good.
13:42What is your jewel?
13:43Oh, you have the ring and the watch.
13:45So, I envision more of a structured top, which I'm doing here with the lines.
13:52Okay.
13:53I was thinking of possibly draping a little bit on the side to make it more voluminous here.
13:58What are your thoughts?
14:00Is it just a pretty dress?
14:07Is there something that the judges will think is new, innovative, wow?
14:13Mm-hmm.
14:14Step it up.
14:15Okay.
14:16I'm really liking it.
14:17I mean, it's gonna be more form-fitting, and I'm liking, like, some of these angles.
14:21What neckline is this going to have?
14:23I'm playing with it because originally I wanted it to be bare, show some more skin.
14:27Why did that top with the crew neck happen at all?
14:31I'll just be very blunt.
14:33That's not going to work with this necklace.
14:36What's the possibility of the judges asking whether this came out of a lava flow?
14:40All right, everyone.
14:42I thought that a good truth-telling session was important today.
14:46So, work hard.
14:48I know you will.
14:49And I will see you in the morning.
14:50Thank you, Sam.
14:51See you later.
14:52I'm gonna go ahead and take out the front seams.
15:00I'm really gonna match up the front of the coat and make sure that the front is flawless.
15:09So, this is the bodice top.
15:12This is the first time I've done it.
15:14I have the bodice completely done, and it fits great.
15:18But I definitely need to construct the entire bottom half of the gown and try to figure out a wow factor.
15:26Yeah, that should be the height.
15:28I'm still hand tacking the pieces while it's still on the form because hand sewing is more of a precise way to get things to lay together.
15:39But it's a hell of a lot of work.
15:41The only thing is here.
15:42The only thing is here.
15:43It's loose.
15:44Like very...
15:45Okay.
15:46Yeah.
15:47I put it on her and the bust cups aren't fitting correctly.
15:52So, I know I have to retake it apart again, reconstruct it.
15:56I'm just praying that I can get that fit correct.
16:01I'm pretty much done with my coat, and I only have my dress pinned on the dress form.
16:07So, I hope I have enough time tomorrow to really get it done.
16:11And I really hope that it fits my model because she hasn't even tried it on yet.
16:15I'm digging your cat suit, my love.
16:17Thanks.
16:18It literally is so, like, it's good.
16:22Jumpsuit's great.
16:24Really fun style lines.
16:27But when I come back to the dress, it looks like crap.
16:32I think I might just have to scrap the whole idea.
16:35Everybody, good night.
16:37All right.
16:38Okay, people, time to go.
16:40I'm terrified.
16:48All right, designers, your models will come in soon.
17:00You will have two hours to send them to the Philip B Hair Studio and the Mary Kay Color Design Studio.
17:05It's an extravagant evening wear look.
17:07Use the Aldo wall very thoughtfully.
17:10When do we get the jewels?
17:12You know, they'll be handled by security people.
17:14You wall will not even touch them, I have to tell you.
17:16Aww.
17:17All right, work hard, everyone.
17:24Are things coming along good for you?
17:26I don't know yet.
17:27It's either going to be amazing or it's going to be a show.
17:29Sure.
17:30It's the seventh challenge.
17:32I've been safe every challenge, and then the only time I got to talk to the judges was because I was on the bottom.
17:37So I want to be on the top.
17:39Hopefully I can get their attention this time.
17:41I'm just real sick of red carpet, man.
17:45Hello.
17:46Daddy.
17:47Good morning.
17:48Cool.
17:49Okay.
17:50When my model comes in for the fitting, I'm still sitting there tacking it, and I'm realizing that I have a lot of hand sewing left to do, and there's only so much time left in the day.
18:01Let's see what we can figure out.
18:04I'm freaking out a little bit because I can't figure out how to make the jacket work.
18:09What am I going to do?
18:10And I realize that I'm committed to this.
18:14Oh, wow.
18:15It's actually perfect.
18:16It looks great on my model, just an adjustment on her back, and I'm really happy with how it's coming along.
18:24I could be on top for it for sure.
18:26It would just be the greatest thing ever.
18:29It's so different.
18:30It's you.
18:31I know.
18:32Everything looks amazing.
18:34The coat looks so dramatic on her.
18:37The only thing that I'm concerned about right now is that I have to finish my dress.
18:42Welcome to the Phillip B Salon.
18:47Straight back.
18:48Super modern.
18:49Tiny bit of volume.
18:50Like a nice waterfall hair.
18:53Just a really blunt part down the middle with a really just classic low bun.
18:58Do you want it super sleek?
18:59Super sleek.
19:00Shiny?
19:01Yeah.
19:02Okay.
19:03Sounds great.
19:04Everyone's doing this bun, and I don't want to do the same.
19:06I think you should just go down in soft flutters.
19:09Okay.
19:12I love this color.
19:13Looks good on you.
19:14I do not understand Samantha choosing to go on a simplicity route on an extravagant evening
19:22wear challenge.
19:23I definitely think that I've won the navy blue dress battle.
19:35Maybe like a dark red lip and a bright eye.
19:39Beautiful.
19:40I want it to look bridal, a little more edge to it too.
19:43Today we're going for a clean, sleek, and a new glossy shine on the lip.
19:49Just natural and rich and glowy.
19:51Yes.
19:52So I don't want anything too bold on the face.
19:54Very natural, fresh, gorgeous.
19:57Yes.
19:59That's kind of cool, surprisingly.
20:02I think at this point I'm just proceeding as if I love it and I'm super confident about
20:07it.
20:08I add a belt.
20:09I'm just doing all these extra things to make it passable.
20:13But I'm expecting Nina to say, what planet do you live on that you think a woman is going
20:19to want to look like a superhero at a gala?
20:22I love it.
20:23I love it.
20:24Designers, in 10 minutes you and your models and I are going down to the runway.
20:31I don't have time to put the zipper into the dress so I'm hand sewing my puddle into my dress.
20:41And the back is not as beautiful as I intended it to be.
20:45Oh my God.
20:46I think there is a lot of creativity in the work room.
20:50I think a lot of people just want to be safe though.
20:53They're only going to their comfort zone.
20:55Charquita is one.
20:56It's another peplum dress with cut outs.
20:59I've seen it a million and one times.
21:01Alexander's look, it worries me.
21:03You can still see the little pins in the hem.
21:06Somebody ran out of time.
21:08Fade's dress is a little matronly.
21:12It's like, oh, okay.
21:14Okay.
21:15And Sandhya did like a cocktail dress that she wear to dinner at a regular restaurant.
21:21Designers and models, we're going down to the runway right now.
21:25All right, everyone.
21:26That's it.
21:40It's beautiful.
21:41Isn't it gorgeous?
21:44Over a thousand parrots of black spinel.
21:47Thank you so much.
21:48You're welcome.
21:4931 cultured pearls.
21:51Perfect.
21:53Beautiful.
21:54How does that feel?
21:55It feels good.
21:56Perfect.
21:57Yeah.
21:58It's gorgeous.
21:59Hello, designers.
22:00Welcome to the runway.
22:01As you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out.
22:14There are ten of you here and after tonight there will be nine.
22:17Sharqita, welcome back.
22:19Tim Gunn used his save and brought you back to the competition.
22:24Yes.
22:25Sharqita, now the pressure is really on.
22:26Yes.
22:27You must prove that Tim really used his Tim Gunn save wisely.
22:30Yes.
22:31For this challenge you were allowed to choose a fabulous Chopard jewel to be paired with
22:36your look.
22:37You were to create a standout evening wear look.
22:40Something suitable for a gala or an extraordinary evening event.
22:44Sean, you have immunity for this challenge and you cannot be eliminated.
22:48The winner of tonight's challenge will also have immunity and this will be the last time.
22:54After that, there will be no more immunity.
22:56That's it.
22:57Let's say hello to our judges.
22:59First we have acclaimed fashion designer, Zach Posen.
23:02Hello, designers.
23:04Creative director for Marie Claire magazine, Nina Garcia.
23:08Hi, everyone.
23:09And I did see, Nina, you're wearing very interesting shoes today.
23:14I know.
23:16Accidents happen.
23:17But she still manages to look very chic, even with a cast on.
23:21Thank you, Heidi.
23:22And co-president and artistic director of Chopard, Caroline Scheufele.
23:27Hello, everybody.
23:28Hi.
23:29Welcome.
23:31We also have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
23:33And as you know, he is your mentor and he will not be judging your looks.
23:37We have an anonymous runway show, which means we the judges do not know which designer created
23:42which look.
23:43All right, let's start the show.
23:45Her look is so dramatic.
23:54She just completely commands the room.
23:57The necklace looks amazing against the black backdrop.
24:01The necklace.
24:02Wow.
24:03The challenge was to be extravagant.
24:08And honestly, I think mine's the most extravagant on the runway.
24:14I was going for a more subtle gala look.
24:21I really tried to not overpowering the jewel.
24:24I think I achieved what I was trying to do.
24:37It looks elegant walking down the runway.
24:47It's clean.
24:48It looks young.
24:49It looks fresh.
24:50The jewels are sparkling.
24:52I definitely feel like I gave the jewelry a chance to shine.
25:02I'm a happy designer.
25:03The necklace, that totally just completes the outfit so much.
25:15It's gorgeous.
25:16It looks so much better with the front necklace.
25:25She looks great.
25:26The dress looks great.
25:27I'm happy.
25:28It's clean.
25:29It's polished.
25:31I do notice that those side flaps came down because, you know, the model had her hand rested on it.
25:46But, you know, I'm not worried at this point.
25:53It's very me.
25:54It's different.
25:55I pushed myself and I'm happy with it.
26:01She's gliding the flow of the chiffon in the back.
26:06You can tell the jewelry is there.
26:08Everything to me looks perfect.
26:14It really does show that I can do flowy, that I can do structure at the same time.
26:25It's definitely got an expensive gala wow factor.
26:29The print works beautifully.
26:31The color looks so amazing.
26:41I'm feeling super confident about the dress that I have made today.
26:44I think she looks so beautiful and stunning and the diamonds are sparkling.
26:59It looks expensive.
27:00It looks like a gala dress.
27:01Herons are amazing.
27:02She looks like the character that I was trying to create.
27:03She looks like she owns these diamonds.
27:08You see the floatiness, but then you see the jumpsuit.
27:09She just looks like a badass.
27:11It's clear that she's mine.
27:15And I like that.
27:16It's clear that she's mine.
27:17And I like that.
27:22The chapar jewel, my dress, just the way that it's moving.
27:23And then the way that the crinkled silk taffeta is shimmering in the light.
27:24It looks like a badass.
27:25It looks like a badass.
27:26It's clear that she's mine.
27:30It's clear that she's mine.
27:31It's clear that she's mine.
27:32It's clear that she's mine.
27:33And I like that.
27:37The chapar jewel, my dress, just the way that it's moving and then the way that the crinkled
27:50silk taffeta is like shimmering in the light.
27:53Everything is on point.
27:54I love it.
27:55It's totally like a sculpture.
27:59My design is definitely one of the strongest out there today.
28:06If I call your name, please step forward.
28:10Fade, please step forward.
28:13Emily.
28:16Sharkita.
28:19Sandia, please step forward.
28:22If I've called your name, congratulations.
28:25Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
28:29You can leave the runway.
28:40Hopefully we're fine with Chris being safe.
28:42Yeah.
28:43I agree.
28:44Yes.
28:45I'm safe.
28:46The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
28:51One of you will be named the winner.
28:54And one of you will be out.
28:55All right, let's bring out your models.
29:09Kini, tell us about your look.
29:10I got the pair of diamond hoop earrings and the diamond ring.
29:19So I created this look that showed structure yet flowiness.
29:23I do love the sheer over the structure dress underneath.
29:26The skirt could have been a little bit shorter.
29:29I agree with Heidi on the length.
29:31The boob darts are quite unfortunate.
29:34I think her hair and makeup look fabulous.
29:37But from the waist down, the fabric is too thick and coarse.
29:41Perfiting.
29:42Yes.
29:43The choice of color is perfect for the diamonds.
29:46Definitely I would have picked another fabric underneath.
29:49Thank you, Kini.
29:51Amanda, tell us about your look and your jewels.
29:54My jewels, this gorgeous diamond ruby.
29:57So I settled on what I call Grace Kelly meets Grace Jones.
30:02I kind of took a risk and made a jumpsuit with this overdress.
30:07I made kind of a fabric buying mistake.
30:09I think she looks great.
30:11I like that you stepped outside of the box a little bit.
30:13You didn't just give us a gown.
30:15You gave us a jumpsuit and this coat over it.
30:18And it's very unusual.
30:20I am happy to see that you challenge us.
30:23I see this and I could see becoming an Instagram sensation.
30:28And an editorial sensation, really.
30:31So I really liked it.
30:33Seeing it on a red carpet, I would see it going the premiere of a futuristic science fiction movie.
30:39I think it's a great look.
30:41You did a good job.
30:43I appreciate risk.
30:45Unfortunately, the ladies thought it was amazing.
30:48I thought it would get you on the worst dress list.
30:51Thank you, Amanda.
30:53Karina, tell us about your look and your jewels.
30:55This one immediately stood out to me.
30:57It's a really bold statement piece.
30:59So I wanted to do something equally as bold.
31:02So I wanted to do just a really exaggerated coat with an exaggerated shoulder.
31:06I found this fabric in the upholstery section.
31:10I really love this look.
31:13It made me dream of being somewhere else.
31:17There is something very ethnic about this.
31:20It played very well with the exoticism of the necklace.
31:25It was like Dita Blair meets Dracula a little bit.
31:31I love the jewelry.
31:32Just spectacular.
31:33How much is that necklace?
31:35For you?
31:37I think this is delicious.
31:39I mean, I'm dying to see what it looks like without the coat.
31:42Oh, hello.
31:44Oh.
31:45Bravo.
31:46Wow.
31:47Love it.
31:48Your best work so far.
31:51I think you did a fantastic job as well.
31:53You picked a fabric that we could have loved or we could have hated.
31:56I would wear that coat also with jeans.
31:58Absolutely.
31:59She really understood the necklace because the best color is the black.
32:03Congratulations.
32:05Alexander, tell us about the jewelry that you chose and your look.
32:08The piece that caught my eye immediately when we walked into the room has this giant,
32:12it looks like a ruby.
32:13Oh, there's a stone there?
32:14Yeah, there's...
32:15I didn't see it when she walked out.
32:18But for my look, I took inspiration from the Charles James exhibit
32:22because I loved the way that it looked as though the fabric had been manipulated in tons of ways.
32:27I think the front looks better than the back.
32:29I feel like you were rushing the back.
32:31You had no time left.
32:32It's tortured.
32:33Yeah.
32:34There's pins in it that I can see from here.
32:38And I also think you chose pretty scary fabric.
32:41It's a terrible dress.
32:42If I were the jewelry company, I'd be very upset because it hid this amazing ruby light.
32:47And that's upsetting to me because it looks yummy.
32:50It's been pulled up way more than it was supposed to be.
32:53Yeah.
32:54But you cannot always sort of push it down.
32:56Right.
32:57The necklace needs completely another dress.
32:59Samantha, tell us about your jewels and your look.
33:02So I picked the vitrine that was the only one that had the watch in it.
33:06I could see myself wearing it if I were to be able to wear the diamonds.
33:09I kind of wanted to push myself in the evening because I've never done anything with a fitted bodice.
33:14So I went on that route with a little bit of draping on the sides.
33:16This is drab.
33:17There's not much to this to talk about.
33:20So I won't say very much.
33:22Okay.
33:23This is a design competition and there's just not a lot of design here.
33:28It's a little boring.
33:29It's almost like the dress the PR intern would wear on the red carpet instead of the important person.
33:37She's the one who fluffs the train of the other person.
33:39She's the major.
33:40It's too basic for the very classical watch.
33:44Sean, tell us about your jewels and your look.
33:46I chose the very classical looking three-piece set.
33:50I designed for a young royal who has to attend something which is very formal,
33:56but she still wants to have a simple elegance to her.
33:59I think she looks stunning.
34:00I agree.
34:01She does look stunning.
34:02Not only is she beautiful in the front with these stunning jewels,
34:05but when she turns back, it is also very beautiful.
34:09The dress is chic, elegant, 100% red carpet.
34:13I love the design of this dress.
34:15I think you did a perfect job giving her a perfect dress to go with a lot of jewelry.
34:21Congratulations.
34:23She's very regal.
34:24You did pick a tricky fabric.
34:26You know what?
34:27It worked.
34:28This is so impressive.
34:30We've heard what you had to say.
34:32Now we're going to take a closer look at the designs,
34:34and then I'm going to bring you back in a little bit.
34:36We can use the runway.
34:42The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 from Red Robin to launch their business,
34:47and the opportunity to design a fashion accessory for all Red Robin servers.
34:51A shoe and accessory collection from Aldo to help enhance their upcoming runway shows.
34:56A premier home entertainment system courtesy of Samsung.
35:00From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows,
35:05and professional makeup artist services for their debut show.
35:08A complete sewing and crafting studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery.
35:13Travel and hotel accommodations to fashion capitals and inspiring locations around the world from Best Western International.
35:19A 2015 Lexus NXF Sport.
35:22And the winning designer and the winning model will receive a fashion spread in Mary Claire magazine.
35:27It is a price package worth over $300,000.
35:31Hi, Tim.
35:32Hi, Heidi.
35:33Hello, judges.
35:34Hi, Tim.
35:35May we start with the bottom?
35:36Yes.
35:37Brianna.
35:38It's not a bad dress.
35:40No.
35:41I just feel like she didn't push hard enough to make something spectacular.
35:44She chose a fabric that actually was a sateen on one side, and she used the matte side.
35:50Oh.
35:51As I always say to them, our challenges begin and end at mood.
35:54I think it's a bit, um, shy.
35:56It's like you said, it's not for the star, it's for the star's assistant.
35:59Yeah.
36:00For the background.
36:01Good.
36:02Now this, up close, is looking even messier.
36:07One tack there, and we would have been a little bit more okay with it.
36:11Yeah.
36:12You should be a designer.
36:13Yeah.
36:14Made it, like, immediately so much better.
36:15I would have picked completely another color, so you would really compliment the necklace.
36:25I love that he did something different than what he normally does.
36:28This is the first time that I haven't seen him finish something professionally.
36:32He had a great design idea, though.
36:34This is my favorite part.
36:35So nice.
36:36This took longer than 24 hours.
36:39And the diamonds themselves.
36:41Millions of years.
36:43Let's talk about the top three.
36:46Oh, no, it's an even harder fabric than I thought it was.
36:49This is such a pain in the butt.
36:51The coat is so romantic, it almost looks like a dress.
36:54It needs a confident woman.
36:56Cool.
36:59Cool.
37:00She looks rich.
37:01But you know what?
37:02I'm feeling the fabric now.
37:04It's heavy.
37:05It's heavy-duty stuff.
37:06She obviously took inspiration from the exhibition.
37:09I mean, this is a very elegant and sexy kind of dress.
37:13It's stunning.
37:19Great job.
37:20This is a big piece of jewelry.
37:22Yeah.
37:23How do you make something interesting that doesn't compete with this?
37:27It's very hard.
37:31Okay, guys.
37:32We have to decide who will win this challenge.
37:34It's tough.
37:35I love Karina.
37:36I thought her use of the jewelry as an inspiration was the most creative.
37:42And then she took off the jacket, and it was a really chic, modern dress.
37:45Shawn did a fantastic job yet again.
37:47It highlights the jewelry the most out of all the outfits.
37:52We also have to decide who goes home tonight.
37:55Both these dresses really felt thrown together fast.
37:59So we've made our decision.
38:04Let's bring them back out.
38:09One of you will be named the winner.
38:12And one of you will be out.
38:14Designers, I have to say it was a very hard decision because we were impressed with all of your work today.
38:27Amanda, you're in. You can leave the runway.
38:31Thank you. Thank you for the jewels.
38:33Karina.
38:34Congratulations.
38:35You are the winner of this challenge.
38:36Oh my gosh.
38:37Oh my gosh.
38:38Thank you so much.
38:39Sean, another great job.
38:41Karina, Sean, you're both in.
38:42You can leave the runway.
38:46Who won?
38:47Karina.
38:48I won.
38:49Oh my goodness.
38:50Good job.
38:51That is so good.
38:52Congratulations.
38:53Sit down before you faint.
38:54You're so well deserved.
38:57Thank you so much.
38:59Kini, you're in.
39:01You can leave the runway.
39:05You are in.
39:10You can leave the runway.
39:16So excited.
39:17Who are you?
39:18You are down.
39:28Alexander, Samantha, one of you will be out.
39:35Samantha, your design was too safe.
39:39Alexander, your look was a bit of a mess.
39:44Alexander.
39:51You're in.
39:57You can leave the runway.
39:59Thank you, guys.
40:08I'm in.
40:16Samantha is just that point in the competition
40:18where safe is just not good enough.
40:21You're okay.
40:21I'm sorry.
40:22You're out.
40:23Okay.
40:24It was stressful, but I had a lot of fun.
40:25Good.
40:29Afira, here.
40:37I'm out.
40:37Oh, I'm safe.
40:46You know, I have to tell you, Samantha,
40:48that dress was beautiful.
40:49Nothing makes me happier in a way
40:51than when everything's really well done
40:54because then it's truly a competition.
40:57So I have to send you to the workroom
40:58to clean up your space.
40:59We're going to miss you.
41:05We're going to miss you.
41:06Bye.
41:06Bye, Samantha.
41:10Project Runway is definitely a competition
41:13that pushes you to the max.
41:15Of course, I wanted to go farther,
41:17but me designing full-time is kind of exciting.
41:19I'm really happy to see where it takes me.
41:21I know this is what I'm supposed to do.
41:23Next time on Project Runway,
41:28this is an avant-garde challenge.
41:30And there is a twist.
41:32Your models will be walking a brand new...
41:35Rainway.
41:37What?
41:39I'm dubious.
41:41It looks really stupid.
41:42This is nothing if not the season of the vagina.
41:44When she gets wet,
41:45the dye's going to start running out of it.
41:47How do you know it's going to work?
41:49Faith.
41:49Sean has a small window for an error.
41:51It's a huge risk.
41:53Welcome to the rainway.
41:55Whoa!
41:59I'm very nervous.
