00:00hey guys welcome back to in the prices once again this is your host any gamer

00:05and today's video I'm going to be doing another game review

00:12alright now today I'm going to be reviewing another oldie but surely a goodie title

00:19this one is in I guess you'd call it a RPG element but but it's not like those RPGs

00:29that you usually be that associated with like Elder Scrolls Dark Souls it's more

00:36of like sci-fi in RPG that's a way to describe it today I'm going to be talking

00:42about prototype okay now there's a good chance that you may or may not have heard

00:47about this game it's a open world action stuff what happened is that it's mainly

00:56taking place in New York the setting particularly Manhattan where you have

01:02this powerful thing ship shifting thing in where you have this big virus that's

01:09taken over so what parallel to what's going on now but you have this virus that

01:14taken over and it's like advancing and it's wiping out humanity in a way but

01:20then you have this guy right his name is Alex mercy he ends up getting really weird

01:27from being infected with the virus instead of ending up turning into one of those

01:33crazy zombified monsters from catching under the virus he ends up turning into this

01:40sort of like superhuman weird person of himself where he can morph his body into like

01:46objects or like strengthen himself and it's basically like mutated superhero he

01:54becomes that's sort of like groundwork like a superhero story but not so much in the

02:03literal sense of like you know hero and villain and such but it's like he is sort of like that

02:08from what happens and you notice an outbreak from this organization in blacklight right and what

02:19happens is that during the game you have to basically uncover like his like secrets and

02:26you know about what his past and what happened with him but also go into conflict with the actual

02:33military and blackwatch and all these other stuff and it's like this huge thing with you know government

02:42and corporations and espionage and conflict and then there's also this thing with this impeding

02:49plague and battles that's running rampant through the streets and infecting everyone killing off a lot of

02:54people and turning other people to crazy fucked up monsters there's also a lot of like deep and dark

03:03secrets that ends up coming to light based on you know the origins of these things as you go deeper

03:12down the rabbit hole of the story and the plot and i don't really want to go down into that because of

03:19like spoilers so i'm gonna like not really go into the details of that because there's quite a bit here

03:25for you to go into also just explain the plot in this could be like equivalent of uh half an hour

03:36hour long video in itself because there's that much in it and i don't really want to make this that long

03:42of a video because i'm reviewing it as a game itself you know like the gameplay soundtrack all

03:49the other stuff and tell the truth it's very well done actually um from the gameplay's perspective

03:57as you're playing through the game you have like these different powers that you get as

04:03he becomes infected and it takes you to the usual tutorial crash course where you slowly but surely

04:12learn to understand how to use the different powers how to switch them which ones to use

04:19and when to use them you know all that sort of like one-on-one stuff and when you don't get the

04:25hang of it it becomes a thing of beauty when you be able to like flight around the city and you're

04:34basically like gliding like a glider or if you're like basically fighting a bunch of crazy people

04:41or if you just basically want to like you know camouflage yourself by absorbing someone and that's

04:47basically the strongest aspect in this game by far is the whole gameplay mechanics of how they utilize

04:57the powers he gets from this sort of like modified version of the virus that he gets infected with

05:04he can do all these crazy things with his body and all these crazy things around him and it's like

05:13wow that's you know you just really can't help but like sit there and be like whoa and i think they did

05:20a really fantastic job with that also in terms of the side characters you have all these other characters

05:26the girl that alex meets with to help enjoy the game in terms of the plot right you have all these

05:34other characters you want into some of them that you have to fight that they to also get a shot of the virus

05:41where they have like some sort of that power you also have like others characters they become affected

05:50but instead of becoming like a usual zombie fight version that you encounter randomly it turns like

05:57these big giant buff creatures that you call brothers and these guys you really have to keep an eye out for

06:05because they can move and when they start whacking me they start whacking on you but they do a lot of damage

06:17they can take quite a bit although i will show you the coolest part about you know in terms of the

06:23the abilities that you get and you know the character you can develop this sort of technique ability

06:32where you can make them under your control you know but that's like really far down on the you know

06:40the whole skill through the upgrade section because there's actually a lot of stuff there to upgrade

06:46and it requires a short ton of experience points points that you get from like killing people

06:55fighting of the military and do a lot of other stuff or completing like side quests or even like

07:04completing challenges there's even these like small stuff like orbs that you want to collect throughout

07:11the city and they give you a lot of xp you get more speed more you collect so there's plenty of ways

07:19for you to actually get your xp it just had to take quite a while to actually go through all that but

07:25it pays off in the end and it's very satisfactory in the sense there's also going out to the the

07:33gameplay with the character the graphics it's okay um i have to keep in mind that this is remember this

07:43is a game from 2009 right so you're gonna have to look at it through the lens of games from back then

07:51you know like obviously by today's standards it's gonna look dated it's still out but still holds up

07:59actually in terms of the graphics and it's also very well optimized too you can play this

08:05fairly good on a random laptop from like today's standards of technology so yeah this game is

08:15is done well on the graphics it's done very well on the story and the gameplay there's sounds

08:21there's some elements of like suspense and then there's elements of like tension and you know like

08:31a lot of intensity it just gets all those different elements in my sunshine

08:35like all the different moments and throughout the game while still maintaining an overall theme for

08:46the um you know story and such with the whole plot of of the game itself

08:54and it's it's over don't leave well it's it's not nothing like really up there until the like video

09:03game soundtracks like nothing that like super memorable like like if i would say like the halo

09:12soundtrack or i call a db soundtrack for example it's not like on that level but it's it's just

09:22very good so thinking about it you know playing the game because i played a game from way back in the

09:31day when i was in school and then i replayed it again as you've seen in some of my videos

09:37i use some of the gameplay over up there and i would say that this game is definitely worth getting

09:46like if you've played like a lot of these um type of open world exploration games for like the combat or

09:59to like explore and such you're definitely going to have a good time with this one because it has the

10:06open exploration elements it also has a lot of like fight and combat elements like an rpg but it is like

10:15also the sort of like superhero sort of side because you have these crazy powers that you can do

10:21another stuff with like you have the claws you have the hammer fist and you're also having these like

10:29big bald muscles and such or like the whiplash you know all these different types of ways that you can

10:37lose the advantage and then there's a factor you can like sort of like fly but he's actually gliding

10:45and you can like glide through the city it's like the perfect open world exploration game in terms of

10:51it's exciting you know um thinking about it i can't really say much in terms of like negative sort of

11:00scheme um to tell you the truth there's not really much negative negative stuff i can think about terms of

11:07the game um other than the fact that certain elements of the story could have been um tweaked up a bit

11:18because to tell you the truth you think about the story as good as it is you know being focused on

11:26the main protagonist alex mercer and then you get this whole backstory of you know his past and it's

11:33like it's sort of like very very cryptic sense because you're going through and they take all these

11:39key personnel people to get like more and more um information and what happens is that they get

11:49absorbed into him because you know you can absorb people to replenish your HP when he absorbs them

11:55he gets some of their memories and he ends up getting snippets of information in the past that

12:01relates to the whole black light black watch and the virus and even stuff that people might

12:09know about alex mercer's past his mom his his sister all these other stuff and

12:17some of it you know because there's a lot there in terms of the whole um story like there's this

12:26whole section called the web of intrigue you can actually go and explore for like all these different

12:32sections in terms of this the whole like meat of it it's very easy to get confused in terms of like

12:41you know the whole grand scheme of things which i like digging into like certain sections it's very

12:47easy to get lost in the story so i think i've done a little bit better job in terms of like fleshing it

12:55not to say fleshing it out but in terms of like straightening out the story and to make it more

13:01i would say more straightforward you know and i'm not trying to say i'd make it more simple but make

13:07it more streamlined straightforward so that you don't get caught up with all like side stuff

13:13because remember you have the only side quests and all these challenges to get like

13:19all these things and it's very easy for you to get lost you know when you go through the world

13:25which you can see all these different things and so i think i've done a little bit better job

13:32streamlining that and straighten out but other than that thinking about about it that's pretty much

13:41the only complaint i think i have for this game actually i think in every other aspect of the game it

13:47basically succeeds and then some you know so yeah um overall guys i guess to sum it up i have to

13:58say prototype is a four and a half out of five stars yeah really damn good an excellent game i would say in my book

14:12um i noticed some other critics it's not so excellent for other critics but for me it is yeah so that's

14:23pretty much it there for my arm review here guys prototype a very excellent game i'd say it's a bit

14:31underrated with mine overall that's just my opinion on this guys let me know what you think in the
