00:00hey guys welcome back TeenyPrizes once again this is your host GenyGamer and today's video
00:09gonna be doing yet another movie review alright today I'm gonna be checking out
00:18another one of Nolan's finest this time I'm gonna be checking out the
00:23prestige okay I think this is where the film really shines with Nolan's
00:31filmography earlier I talked about in some which I still agree on to this day is
00:37his most underrated overlooked piece of work but this is probably the one that he did
00:43as stand out the most outside of the Batman trilogy the prestige okay this
00:50film first I'll start off this is actually the amazing cast by the way so
00:57you have Christian Bale you know the Batman then you also have Wolverine's Hugh
01:02Jackman these are the main guys and then you have all the other characters go
01:06along with the players Scarlett Johansson Rebecca Hall Michael Caine who's like a
01:12current guy in Nolan's films I admit and you even have Andy Serkis David Bowie you
01:19know I have to say the casting was a stop-notch it probably didn't look that
01:25way back then because some of the actors weren't that big they were just trying to
01:29come up and again in the casting let's get into this story right the plot this
01:33movie is about this movie is basically these two magicians right who are trying
01:39to like they're basically rivals like Goku which you guys remember I believe we're
01:43trying to like one-up each other with their performances and their
01:47appearances at first they give you the backstory a little bit where they were
01:51actually a team who like work with each other but then they had like a follow
01:55because an accident happened one day and their performance had someone died who
02:01was you know close to and they saw like fall out from that on the side like you
02:06know distancing themselves trying to do their own magic routines and such and what
02:12really did it for me in this film is the way the movie approaches magic right the
02:23whole concept is that it's not like actual magic is you know visual cues and
02:29tricks and you know like deception and it doesn't sound that interesting when you put
02:34that way but when you see it happen in the film it's actually pretty impressive like the
02:37way it's it plays out and when you see all the characters that they do stuff when
02:43they set up their their act and there's this really interesting quote that you hear
02:47Michael Caine's character says in the movie says on it's not enough to make
02:52something disappear you have to bring it back I really like the quote that she had
02:58because what he said shortly the movie it rings really true you know it's divided into
03:04three acts and the first act and the setup and all that stuff and you don't cheer for it
03:10when it comes to the magicians and their routines and their acts that they are performing they have
03:17the secrets right and the secrets when it comes to Christian Beale's character is that you know
03:26they review it later on in the film but it's in plain sight when you're looking at it you don't
03:32notice it until they reveal it at the end and I find that very incredible how they were able to
03:38like set that up to the way it's structured like I think his arc is actually structured like the
03:44highlight of the movie I don't really want to spoil it per se because you know you can't
03:50really experience this movie you know like the second time when you actually know what's going to happen
03:56right so I want to say that he has probably best um arc you know it comes to how to reveal his secret
04:04and this is really interesting because I couldn't say with Hugh Jackman's character you know he spent
04:09this whole time trying to figure out how does he does the act you know the the transporter man right
04:14tries to mimic that because he says oh you can do this but this is the one that stands out this is where the
04:21military story comes in basically where he can do the teleporting man where he opens the door he goes
04:27then he comes out so on the other side and everyone's looking at like how the hell is he does that you
04:33know he trying to figure this out so much so and the funny part is he actually had it correct
04:41so the first time he didn't believe it because he was like oh that this doesn't make sense too obvious
04:46he basically rejected the theory at first because he found it it just didn't seem like it was an actual
04:55thing you know he was thinking of something more grander even though the premise he rejected at first
05:02was actually correct he went on to try and figure out how to do it himself and resort into other means
05:12technology and such science but when we thought that interesting aspect of all the film i portrayed
05:19magic in relation to science and technology and stuff i really like the way it portrayed that
05:28but when it comes to the female characters carl johansson's character and rebecca hall's character
05:33i'd say they have the the probably better characters in the show because they go through the most
05:39particularly becker horse character you know she has to put up with you know christian bale's character
05:46getting into all the stuff and you know she's like having affecting the relationship and yeah
05:52you really see her acting chops on display it really shows you that she is definitely worth some awards
05:59per se and scarlett johansson's and she just does what she does best you know being scarlett johansson
06:05i just had to put it like that yeah she's good the main one says christian bale's still um i will
06:14admit to Hugh Jackman he he was dealt a bad in this film because his character has to go through a
06:21charge of losing someone which sort of leads him down this path of um you know jealousy and revenge
06:28but not so much event but you know him wanting to like bury um the other guy's career and take over
06:36and whatnot and you know seeing him achieve this new trick called the teleporting man he tries to one
06:45of that by any means necessary and called the transporter man or something where he has this sort of
06:51machine that allows him to transport things what happens is that he's not transporting things but
06:59he's also cloning things as well as evident in the film we see the hat so it presents an interesting
07:07convention we'll say coming into the third act that is where things really get spicy you know
07:15okay i think that's like it just goes to show you how it turned like should be done in the film
07:21you know you have things set up and how it plays out when it comes to the technical stuff for this film
07:27i have to say like i said the acting it's all on point i think it's probably one of those rare films where
07:34every actor was actually great you don't see a film that has a casting on this level where all the
07:42acting's actually done well so i have to give it chops to that the directing is i'm gonna write this
07:49christopher nolan like you can't go wrong with directing and you have christopher nolan as a director
07:56of course it's gonna be directed about the cinematography is done well visuals done well all that stuff
08:03the soundtrack is fire you know it's done my hands you know you know even though i will admit
08:10it hands him as his fair share of misses in the past but this is one of those times where he hits
08:18he hits and he hits with the subject for this film yeah pretty much sums it up i have to say when it
08:25comes to this film great story great acting great directing great soundtrack everything great everything
08:35phenomenal if i'm being honest i don't really have much gregs who saved this film if any at all if
08:43i'm being honest and i know some people sort of like had issues with the ending you know for my
08:48thread because like they find the ending was a couple and anybody felt like um you know it was worth
08:55you know the whole story i find that to be really um more like i think the ending was probably just right
09:01but overall how to sum this up i have to say i would give you say nine out of ten right it's it's an
09:08excellent film it's well done well made well acted etc etc it's excellent right and it's pretty much
09:17what you expect to hear about a film like this you know being done by nolan that's because my take on
09:23whatever let me know what you think in the comment section down below the prestige guys do you like
09:30it do you hate it do you think it's over the only way that or not i've been hearing people saying that
09:37well let me know what you think in the comment section down below about the film and be sure to
09:41make one of this i guess i'll see you guys later
10:11so
