00:00Hey guys, welcome back in Paris. Once again, this is your host, Anikima. And today we're going to be doing a series review. Okay, not an anime, but it is an animation. It's comic books. So it's not like manga animation. You know, it's western animations here. You call it comic books. And it's a superhero series.
00:26Alright, you probably have heard about this by now. It's called. I'll be honest with you. This shit is crazy. Now I'll first start off by saying this. This is not your typical family face type superheroes you used to watch. Like say if you're watching Shazam or something like that.
00:53Well, you know, the whole family can tune and watch. This is definitely not like that. I'd say it's more in line with, I want to say the boys. But it's not exactly like the boys.
01:05If I'll be honest, it's like, like this. It's like Spider-Man. But if Spider-Man was R-rated. Like say R-rated as it's not like it was fully adult R-rated like, you know, the X-Men movies. You know, like Logan and Deadpool.
01:22But I wrote it in the sense that it has the same feel. But when it comes to action, it's all the way there. And that is something I've been dying to see in superhero movies, my neck.
01:37Since the genre blew up in early 2000s to no. We've gotten really good at takes on superheroes in movies and TV shows. But for the most part, they were PG, PG-13-ish.
01:52You know, they weren't really R-rated. And the one that was R-rated, they were like your own conventional ones.
01:59You know, they didn't really go with the flow to say this one. But however, this is a series. It's not a movie. So that's one thing I had to acknowledge.
02:09First of all, let's just go into the plot here. Quick bit on what this show is about.
02:15Being a superhero series, it takes place in this little town about this teenager called Mark Grayson, right?
02:24He's believed to be a normal teenager, except for the fact that his dad, named Nolan, Grayson is the most powerful superhero on the planet, if not probably the galaxy.
02:37There's a lot to go into there with him and his past.
02:40But here's the thing. Shortly after his recent birthday, Grayson begins to develop his powers, similar to his dad.
02:51And then you end up seeing this sort of like origin story. Like, you also have Debbie Grayson, which is Mark's mother.
03:00She is his mother, but she is not a superpower. She's just a human, right?
03:05And then you also have several other characters, like Cecil Steadman, Amber Burnett, and Samantha Eve, and several other characters.
03:20You know, they all make appearances here, and they are side characters, so the story is mostly based around Invincible, Gemma Grayson, Omni-Man,
03:30you know, his dad, and these other characters here I just mentioned.
03:36Now, the whole storyline of this, it's crazy. You see him develop his power, but you also see him learn to become a superhero.
03:45You know, he does make mistakes, obviously, and he tries to learn from them, in a way.
03:53But, compared to a typical superhero fanfare, this series, it acknowledges the harsh reality of being a superhero, that you're going to lose a lot.
04:07You're going to have a lot of misses, and when you lose, it's going to be terrible.
04:14So, like, it gets very gory, very bloody.
04:19It actually is, in a way, it's realistic when it comes to, like, if a character gets, like, beat up or blown up or something like that, sort.
04:30You know, in most superhero movies, they tend to, like, downplay the god to make it look less excessive, so it can stay PG.
04:39But, yeah, they don't give a shit, like, someone gets milked up and blood is flying.
04:47They made that clear in the first episode.
04:51If you watch in the first episode, towards the ending of the episode, you see, bam, the whole pool that hangs out with Army Man,
05:01which is, by the way, a obvious parody of the Justice League, they even have their own fish man, literally.
05:13He wipes out all of them, but he also comes very close to dying.
05:17But, he wipes the shit out of them, bro.
05:22And you see, you feel every impact of that from the way how it was shown.
05:28And, like I said earlier, this is not a spoiler because it's literally the first episode.
05:33And what it does, it sets the stage for the rest of the show, the rest of the episodes, showing you, okay,
05:42this seems like your average superhero fanfare, but there's actually more to it than that.
05:49There's a lot more beneath the surface.
05:50And, if you see the first episode and you're not into watching the rest of the show, then something is wrong with you, in my opinion.
06:01Because, while it does drag, and admittedly, in other episodes, it does drag a bit with unnecessary stuff,
06:11most of it is actually on point.
06:14But, you know, it keeps you engaged, it has a premise, which it does borrow a little bit from other superhero stuff, admittedly.
06:25And this isn't anything like, say, reinventing the wheel, per se.
06:28It's just doing its own thing.
06:31But, it does its own thing in epic fashion.
06:34Now, when it comes towards the rest of the episode-oriented ending,
06:38you may or may not like how it turns out, because it doesn't give you the sort of, like,
06:44okay, the ending happens, and things, uh-huh, okay, the other hero comes out on top.
06:52That's, you don't get that.
06:54It gives you a more honesty, darker view of an ending when it comes to this story.
07:01And, much more respect to it from me, because we've been beaten to the bush with superhero moves with this sort of, like,
07:11happy, like, ending so much.
07:13We don't see any of them, like, actually do stuff like this, where, like,
07:18they go balls to the wall straight towards the ending, and, like,
07:22nope, that's not gonna happen, this is gonna happen instead, and it's gonna go with it.
07:26Like, the only times that have happened was at Infinity War, and I'd probably say Logan,
07:34depending on how you feel about the ending.
07:36But, you know, those are, like, two examples, so out of many things, however,
07:41I actually liked it, the way the, um, the ending was.
07:46Although, it's not the actual ending, per se, of the show, it's just the ending of the first season,
07:51because there's definitely gonna be more to come if you've read the comics,
07:55which was going on back in the mid-2000s.
08:00They have plenty of shit to get into with the show.
08:04Okay, now, on to the technical stuff when it comes to the show.
08:08Ah, the animation is stellar indeed.
08:13It is very well animated.
08:16The fight scenes, it has a similar feel to the Justice League animation series.
08:24If you guys remember how that looked, how smooth those were, particularly the more recent ones.
08:30It, it's like that.
08:32You know, kind of smoothness, sharp, and very colored anime style.
08:38Like this, the music is actually pretty good.
08:40The voice acting is very well done here.
08:46I would say this is the point where the voice acting is actually a stronger suit on the technical side than the animation and the music.
08:57And that's mostly to do with the guy who's voicing Omni-Man, you know, JK Simmons.
09:02Because they, they knew what they were doing when they had him voice Omni-Man.
09:08As I say, that's that, right?
09:09So, um, yeah, I'm thinking about it.
09:13I don't really have any much negatives that I would point out when it comes to the show.
09:20I mean, like, if I'm being honest, like, the only gripes I may have had is the fact that some of the episodes, the pacing were a little bit off.
09:32But that's more of a nitpick pursuit.
09:34Like anything else, I was actually digging it when it comes to the show.
09:38And I'm really looking forward to see what comes next in season two.
09:43Like, this is actually the first time in a long while I'm actually interested in seeing a season two for a superhero stuff.
09:55Like, it's usually anime as a review on my channel, anime views and such.
10:00So, this is not really a cup of tea.
10:05But this show actually did it for me.
10:10So, yeah, that pretty much sums up my review discussion on this show, series, at Invincible.
10:21It's a very good word to recommending.
10:26Although, I will say for a show based on a comic series from the early mid-2000s,
10:34this does play up a lot in politics.
10:37Like, it comes across as a show that's up-to-date, we'll say, when it comes to, like, its political stuff.
10:48So, guys, that pretty much sums it up.
10:51My view overall, Invincible season one, flames, pretty good.
10:57Well, that's just my take on the whole show.
11:00And let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below on the whole Invincible series.
11:07Do you like it?
11:08Do you hate it?
11:09Have you checked out the comic book?
11:11Do you think it's accurate to the comic book if you've read the comics?
11:14Be sure to let me know in the comment section down below.
11:16And be sure to check out my other videos.
11:18And I guess I'll see you guys later.
