00:00Should you hug on the first date? This is more of a question about personal preference rather than

00:04what you should or should not do. But there are some things to consider when you're deciding

00:07whether or not you want to hug on the first date or not. Firstly, do you like to hug? If you don't

00:12like to hug, then why even bother forcing this on her? Are you even good at hugging? Or do you give

00:17those awkward upper chest hugs where it seems like the other person really doesn't want to be

00:21touching you, but they're doing it of some sort of obligation? Nobody likes those. And in fact,

00:25how many people really like hugging strangers? Is there even a point to hugging on a first date?

00:30For example, going for a kiss makes sense on a date because you're actually establishing the

00:34nature of your date. It's a romantic thing. It's not a platonic thing. You could escalate it further

00:38after the kiss and kissing is just kind of fun. But a hug is something you can do with your grandma.

00:43And I guess you could kiss your grandma too, you sick fuck, but that's not what this video is about.

00:48The point is that a hug doesn't really do anything to advance your date. It's not going to make things

00:52more intimate. And yes, hugging is great within a relationship. It does feel good and it feels good

00:57between family, but it's not going to take your date anywhere. Let's be realistic. So my rule of

01:01thumb is this. If she reaches in for a hug, then I'll go for it. It's fine because she's the one

01:06who stepped in. I don't mind hugging, but I'm not going to jump on her and hug her and make this

01:11awkward situation otherwise. So you decide for you. It's not going to take your date anywhere. It won't

01:16necessarily hurt, but you can avoid an awkward moment for going for some awkward stranger hug just by

01:22skipping the whole thing anyways. Now here's some common questions about hugging on a first date.

01:25Is hugging okay on a first date? Hugging is okay on a first date, but you really want to gauge the

01:29comfort level of your date before you reach in there. One good way to go for a hug on a first

01:34date is not to step into her space, but simply open your arms up as if you want to hug and let her

01:40come in to hug you. What does a hug on a first date mean? A hug on a first date usually doesn't really

01:44mean much. It's just a common way for a lot of people to greet each other or even to say goodbye.

01:48Should I kiss or hug on a first date? Kissing or hugging on a first date is a personal choice.

01:53A kiss will take your date farther and establish a romantic vibe. A hug won't really do anything.
