00:00Here it is, revs her up.
00:03Skates out.
00:09Jorge Prado leads him into the first turn again.
00:11Deegan to the inside.
00:13And Deegan has the progressive hole shot.
00:20Exactly where the 38 wanted to be.
00:22Great start by Deegan.
00:23It makes a small mistake right there, but just that sense of,
00:26hey, when you get a taste, like you said earlier, Ricky,
00:28this boy smells it, and look at him out front, trying to get away,
00:32but it looks like Ken Roxton slides up into third or second place there.
00:36Race is on, Ricky.
00:37I expect Ken Roxton to put on a charge here early.
00:40We talked about his ability to sprint.
00:42This has been one of his strong suits his whole career.
00:46What he's able to do and his ability to put in fast laps early on in this race,
00:51so keep your eyes peeled for that.
00:53Oh, as Christian Craig goes down.
00:55And I believe that is Savace who had the great run going in mode of one
00:59until a late crash.
01:01Now an early crash has sent him back.
01:02The battle is on as Roxton challenges Deegan.
01:06Just as you say, Ken Roxton's going to try to put him in.
01:09And Hayden goes a little sideways.
01:11Hang on, young man.
01:12Hang on.
01:12Watch Ken's going to slide up the inside here.
01:14Got to be careful not to get too aggressive.
01:16Hayden slots it in.
01:17Now they're going to get to this split lane.
01:18I like this.
01:20I like the other line, actually, in this split lane.
01:23I think it pays dividends on this right-hander coming out
01:26before this sand roller section coming up that they are approaching right now.
01:30But, yes, as I said, Ken is going to push really, really hard here
01:34these first couple laps to try to make a move by Hayden
01:38to get some clean track so he's not getting roosted.
01:41Otherwise, it's going to be very, very tough.
01:43And Deegan taking some risks to hit the jumps in that rhythm lane.
01:46They pay off.
01:47He's pulled away from Roxton.
01:49He's got to hit this double.
01:50He does try to get Deegan back in sight.
01:53I thought it was the 17 of Savace off track.
01:55It was before 17 of Tondal.
01:58Savace has climbed up to sixth.
02:04And a crash here.
02:06Is that Jason Anderson?
02:10And Malcolm Stewart helping him up.
02:16Well, it's sportsmanship there.
02:18Yeah, that's sports.
02:18I'm going to ask him about that on the airplane.
02:20He must have sensed that Jason was in some pain or helping him off.
02:23But, yeah, tough break for both these guys here.
02:28It would be interesting to see.
02:30Here's the replay in slow-mo.
02:34Uh-oh.
02:34Oh, really, yeah.
02:36Malcolm is going to double the finish line.
02:40Really nothing that he could do.
02:41Anderson was, did not double.
02:45He was on the landing.
02:47There's nowhere for Malcolm to go.
02:49Just unfortunate.
02:50And that's easy to happen in a mud race and just part of racing, unfortunately.
02:56Ooh, tough return to racing for Anderson.
02:59Fifth of the first race.
03:00Now, out.
03:00Let's go to JT.
03:01Just watching that crash there.
03:03Remember the crash at Anaheim 1 between Malcolm Stewart and Justin Barsha.
03:07Shades of that.
03:08So Malcolm knows exactly what that feels like.
03:11And I think he was honestly just trying to get Jason Anderson out of harm's way if other people were
03:15going to jump that double there.
03:17Yeah, tough break for him.
03:18I mean, and Jason was on the inside, and Malcolm hit that double.
03:22And because everybody's going to inside the next corner, it's just easy for it to happen.
03:26So tough break.
03:28Glad to see Jason walking off the racetrack.
03:30But look at this guy, 38.
03:32Ken's a lot closer to this race than he was the first race.
03:36He was able to get into the second spot a lot earlier.
03:39Look, he's doubling that.
03:40And getting to the inside.
03:42Yeah, Hayden wasn't able to do that.
03:44This is going to be a tough challenge for Hayden right here.
03:47You see him taking opposite lines right here.
03:49This is like a gift in a mud race.
03:51You're able to kind of get a reprieve from the mud.
03:54Hayden makes a mistake.
03:56Roxen's on the charge.
03:57RC, he's getting closer.
03:58Yeah, he's trying.
04:00Hayden's so good at defending the position, though.
04:03He has a sense of where his competitor is and can kind of guard that position.
04:09Very intuitive rider, like most guys are in this 450 class, especially at the top level.
04:16And that rhythm lane before the finish line has paid off for Deegan again.
04:20He opens it back up.
04:23Webb has climbed to third.
04:24JT.
04:25Well, I'd like to officially welcome him to the sun to the party.
04:28Better late than never.
04:28But, you know, for Hayden, Deegan, watching the way he's attacking this race,
04:33guys, I would be worried if I was a wrestler.
04:35This is the last person you want to give confidence like this.
04:38And you could see him glowing on the podium when he was talking to Will Christian.
04:43He said, hey, we're just getting started here.
04:45We could be on to something, boys.
04:46This could be a brand-new Hayden Deegan on a 450.
04:48And I agree with you.
04:50I personally think it'll be even – I don't want to use the word easy,
04:54but his chance of going out and performing at this level on a drier, more realistic track
05:01will be even better, I believe.
05:04No, I agree with you.
05:05I mean, his biggest competition is obviously going to come from the guy behind him.
05:0994 Kent is not done with this thing.
05:11And considering what's happening with Hunter Lawrence today,
05:14he's only going to give a guy like Hayden Deegan more confidence moving forward
05:17as he's going to come up here soon and put the 96 down a lap.
05:22Yeah.
05:22We saw Lawrence go down earlier.
05:24He is in 17th place.
05:26Lappers are going to be brutal.
05:28We've been talking about it all afternoon long.
05:31Looking ahead, where can you get by these guys?
05:33And these runs are so difficult.
05:35And they're trying just to survive themselves.
05:38Here's what happened to Hunter.
05:40We had the crash, the aftermath.
05:42He's had multiple.
05:43Here's the latest.
05:44Not a crash.
05:45He stalls the bike.
05:46Yeah, just all that mud there, kind of lean too far forward.
05:50You've just got to think mentally.
05:51It's hard for him to stay focused.
05:54That's just a simple mistake that normally shouldn't happen if he's in the zone.
05:58But that's the crazy part with the mud here.
06:02Plessiger here on the 7, battling with Sivachi.
06:05Halfway through this one, a reminder to stock up on Monster Energy drinks
06:08at Dutchess Convenience Store.
06:11Plessiger around Sivachi to 5th.
06:13Got Prado up ahead.
06:14You saw Aaron Plessinger there doubling the finish line.
06:20And thinking about Aiden Deegan, he hasn't been doing that big double after the rhythm lane
06:25before the right-hander.
06:27And then he hasn't been doing the finish line either and still maintaining that gap in front of Kenny.
06:33Yeah, I think a lot of that comes with where Kenny's catching these lap riders.
06:37Like we saw that double, that rhythm section before the finish line, how much time Kenny's got.
06:41And you see what Aaron does.
06:43He's got to have a clear racetrack.
06:44And if he feels like he's got the traction, just throw them big old cowboy boots out and just give
06:49it some gas.
06:51Here's Sivachi in 6th.
06:53What a rebuild for him.
06:54A wrist injury.
06:55He's been out for months.
06:56He was guaranteed a spot in these playoffs, and he is making the most of it.
07:00Back to the leader.
07:02Deegan was up to almost 6 seconds of a gap over rocks, and now it's 3.6.
07:07That ebb and flow of this lap traffic is difficult.
07:09Heavy traffic coming up on Malcolm Stewart.
07:13Handful of riders.
07:15Let's see here.
07:18We've got Garrett Marchbanks as well.
07:20This is Prado who has caught Webb for third.
07:23Prado would already be third overall.
07:25It might not help him in the overall standings, but still a clutch move.
07:28And Prado would be the championship leader if the race ends like this.
07:33You know these guys are racing so hard.
07:35It's just like, all right, which one of these you've got to be able to double if you're Cooper Webb
07:38or Jorge Prado?
07:39Jorge gets that position, and at this point, it's just about survival.
07:44And you just see the distance that Jorge is able to stretch out by just hitting a simple double that
07:49he's able to gain over a guy like Cooper Webb.
07:53And Prado, very strong in his first full season, making it through the Supercross campaign this year.
07:59And then fourth in Pro Motocross.
08:01That led him to be the number two seed coming into the playoffs and maybe the point leader at the
08:05end of the race day today.
08:07JT.
08:08I just wanted to ask a question to James and Ricky.
08:11You know, what are we seeing here with Hunter Lawrence?
08:13Because this is very atypical.
08:16I know he's dealing with some sort of wrist issue.
08:19This feels like it's a lot more serious than maybe he was letting on.
08:22I mean, basically a DNF in the first one and now a 16th in the second one.
08:27Seems like there's a little bit more going on.
08:29Yeah, it's hard to say.
08:32Your guess is as good as mine, JT.
08:33I mean, we could sit here and speculate all day.
08:36Maybe it's his wrist.
08:37I don't know.
08:37Keep in mind, I mean, how close he came to winning that championship at Monster Energy Supercross.
08:43And then his hard-fought battle to win the Pro Motocross.
08:46I mean, the mental side of that is so exhausting.
08:50Having to be on that many races.
08:52And he's one of only two riders to make every single race.
08:57And these aren't ideal situations.
09:00I want to give him the benefit of that out.
09:02Just chalk it up as it's a bad weekend.
09:04But certainly unorthodox.
09:06Yeah, I think the main thing is, like you just said, that mental, you know, what he just went through
09:10all year.
09:11Because he looked pretty good in practice yesterday.
09:13So I don't know if the injury was a cause.
09:15But it's easily, when things like this go wrong, it's just easy to snowball effect.
09:19And a lot of this, I think a lot of what's happening is just the racing conditions.
09:23We've seen it in both classes.
09:25Once you get that ball rolling the wrong way in the mud, it's a triple effect.
09:29We don't know his vision that's going on.
09:30Probably doesn't have a rhythm.
09:32But that's a good thing he had the point.
09:34Uh-oh.
09:35Ken Robson went down here.
09:36That's a blessing for Hayden Deegan.
09:38And time has winded down.
09:40Top left of your screen there.
09:41Two minutes and 20 seconds.
09:43Two laps left.
09:46Man.
09:48He is still second.
09:49Robson there in the blue and yellow gear.
09:51He is lapped.
09:52Hunter Lawrence, the number one seed coming into the playoffs, is looking at 21-15 finishes.
09:58The two races today.
09:59Will.
10:01I just went down and talked to Johnny Ameritrainer there for Hunter Lawrence just to see if we were missing
10:06anything.
10:07And he said, honestly, this just comes down to the fact that he's just, you know, the bike set up
10:12just isn't quite there.
10:13He's not gelling with the track.
10:14Things aren't flowing.
10:15And that just kind of snowballs, right?
10:17It leads from one thing to another.
10:18So Johnny said, there's nothing specifically to point out here.
10:21This is just not his day.
10:24Not his day.
10:25And not his track in the right conditions.
10:26Yeah, fair enough.
10:27Totally understandable.
10:29I'm going to give the guy some grace.
10:31He's been fantastic all year.
10:33I wouldn't count him out next weekend.
10:35And, again, talked about this during the show.
10:38If there's going to be a weekend in this playoff system, a championship, where you want to have, you never
10:45want to have a bad weekend, but where you're going to give one away, it's definitely going to be the
10:49first round because it's only regular points.
10:52Next week with the double points, that's where it really stings to have a bad weekend.
10:59Hey, fans, here's your chance to become an SMX VIP.
11:02You can scan the QR code or go to smxexperiences.com.
11:07There's the QR code.
11:07And register for your chance to win four VIP gold packages to a 2027 Monster Energy Supercross regular season race,
11:16including VIP club seats, behind the scene tours, and early access to FanFest VIP swag and more.
11:23But you've got to enter by the end of the year.
11:24That's December 31st, 2026, for your chance to be an SMX VIP in 2027.
11:32Shout out to Cooper Webb as we're watching Jorge Brado right here in fourth place because Cooper was able to
11:38get back around them.
11:39So Captain America, only a couple of rides left on the Star Racing Yamaha, the blue bike, running a solid
11:45third place.
11:46And last round we was at that of Pro Motocross, Cooper Webb was on the podium as well.
11:52Yeah, great job by Koo, but this definitely isn't his ideal situation for sure.
11:58So to stay in it, stay focused, he said he's put a lot of emphasis on this SMX World Championship.
12:04This is the championship that he hasn't won, and it's important to him.
12:08But they're all going to have to deal with this guy, Hayden Deegan.
12:13The clock has expired, so two laps to go for him to bring home the overall win.
12:17And that'd be his first in the premier class on the 450, a dominant star in the 250 class.
12:24And today is his day.
12:26It's a special ride.
12:28I mean, very, very impressive.
12:29And I just think about it.
12:31I mean, now listen, everybody that he's racing against except Ken Rockson, he's beaten.
12:37Well, except Hunter, well, he beat Hunter a couple times, but really on a routine basis.
12:44Yes.
12:44He's beat all these guys except Ken, and Ken is extremely difficult to beat, especially when he's on your tail.
12:51Those first couple opening laps because he's so explosive, like I explained it.
12:55So for him to be able to defend that, it was impressive in extreme conditions as well.
13:01Cool to see.
13:02Got to respect it.
13:03Oh, got to hold on to it as well.
13:07And we said it in the first moment we can repeat it again.
13:09The confidence, I don't even want to say borders on cockiness sometimes.
13:13Sometimes it goes all the way across that line.
13:15But if you give this guy anything, you might hear it on the podium, and it's going to roll into
13:20the next two weeks of this world championship as well.
13:22Yeah, it is.
13:23I mean, the fact that he's jumping these doubles still just shows you.
13:26It's almost like a little bit of arrogance.
13:28If he has 20 seconds out there, he wants to just demoralize all these guys.
13:34Great race or not, he believes, which would be true if he hangs on, like he came out here and
13:40won this race.
13:41He is the best.
13:41And, again, I go back to what happened in his rookie year.
13:44Once he won, we saw it in motocross, we go back to WashU.
13:47But once he won once, the second one came pretty quickly, and then he went on a string of just
13:52dominance.
13:53Could this be that start here in a familiar place, in a familiar championship?
13:58I think it can be, Ricky.
14:00Yeah, that's what I was talking about, too, like around the berm.
14:05Like he did the exact same thing in the 250 class.
14:10Once he learned how to win, it was game on.
14:15And in your expertise, mud race, it doesn't matter.
14:17It's still...
14:19Not to him.
14:20Not to him.
14:21Yep.
14:21And he will carry all the confidence into the second playoff run.
14:25Final lap for Hayden Deegan.
14:27The forecast today, everyone knew the storm was coming.
14:31And clearly the forecast also said, we were headed to the danger zone because Hayden Deegan has won his first
14:39450 race.
14:50He does it in the mud, but it's going to carry over when we go to the dry, presumably next
14:55weekend in California.
14:57Symbolically, Roxton comes across in second pudding.
15:01The championship leader coming into this, Hunter Lawrence a lap down.
15:05And Cooper Webb's going to be in this championship fight, toughing it out.
15:11That'll be third in this individual moto and fourth overall for the three-time Monster Energy Supercross champion.
15:18He wants this SuperMotocross title.
15:21And the points are going to be ultra close between a group of riders.
15:31But this is a big moment for Hayden Deegan and his crew.
15:34Yes, go ahead.
15:36Yes.
