03:06Doing enough to keep Calvin Wallanderen at bay,
03:08but he's been caught napping here
03:09in the early stages of this first MXGP race.
03:12Just doesn't have that intensity
03:13that the more experienced,
03:15more seasoned MXGP riders have
03:17on this opening lap or two.
03:19No one more so than Hurlings,
03:20who's three seconds clear of his teammate Tom Vial
03:22at the moment,
03:23and we've not even had the first official full lap.
03:27Vial responded with a quicker time
03:29in the third sector, however,
03:30but only by a fraction of a second.
03:34Fevre here in red.
03:37Of course, just one with the helmet.
03:42This weekend, big backers of this Grand Prix.
03:45Yeah, massive complex there,
03:47a huge retail act that they've got going on.
03:50It's pretty good deals as well to be had.
03:53But it is worth pointing out,
03:54it's the Oriental Beauty Valley MXGP of China.
03:57But, yeah, H&H Sports,
03:59who are behind the helmet brand
04:01and clothing brand, of course.
04:03Fevre with a different brand this year.
04:06Yeah, short race gear for Fevre
04:07in red just as he started the season
04:09back in Argentina.
04:10Just one also massive backers
04:12of the JK Yamaha squad,
04:13which is why they were key to drafting
04:16a replacement rider for gifting.
04:17So, Ivo Monticelli got the call Thursday morning,
04:20bugged off work,
04:21and now he's in China racing.
04:22Wendt got his passport updated.
04:24He had about two months left on it.
04:25Of course, had to get all that taken care of as well
04:27before he jumped on the plane.
04:29Anyway, Roma Fevre here in third place,
04:31trying to go after Vial,
04:32but that cap already about two seconds.
04:34is Jonas.

04:36because Adamo tips over from fifth place.

06:04Good scrap here between two of the tallest riders
06:06on the circuit,
06:07Panza and Vallandren,
06:08who's been throwing the bike around
06:10for fun this weekend.
06:11Not able to find his way up there.
06:13Looked like there was a couple of bike lengths
06:15more than it looked,
06:16as they jumped towards us
06:18from that camera angle.
06:19That lens was teasing us a little bit there.
06:21Good aggressive corner entry from Panza,
06:22they've surely got on the throttle
06:24coming through that corner.
06:25Beautiful lane.
06:26It's a difficult corner this Turn 7 here
06:28where Adamo fell,
06:29because it's not banked enough
06:30to sort of hold you in,
06:32and the riders go in at speed,
06:34and they push the berm
06:35a little wider and wider,
06:36and then the top of the berm
06:37becomes very frail,
06:37and when it dries out,
06:39it becomes almost like powder.
06:40And I think as Adamo went in there,
06:43maybe just one or two
06:43little dry marbles of dirt
06:45just starting to appear
06:46and just seemed to fold the front
06:48before he even got to that sort of berm,
06:50that tipping point, if you like,
06:51just tipped over all by himself
06:53before he even got there.
06:54That corner caught out Vlander
06:55in the free practice, of course.
06:56He just tipped over
06:57and threw the Geyer and Banners there.
06:58So, yeah, it is a tricky one, I can say.
07:01Hurling's lapping quick at the moment.

07:04His time in the qualifying race
07:06was marginally quicker than that.

07:08That was on lap 9
07:09and already is into the 43.7s
07:11here on lap 3.
07:12So, we'll be keeping an eye on that
07:14in terms of a Cherby's fastest lap competition,
07:16whether it comes in race 1 or race 2 today
07:18in MXGP and, of course, in MX2.
07:21But it's Hurling's who's setting the pace
07:23at the moment here in race 1.
07:25That's issues for Adamo as well.
07:27He's trying to get a hold
07:28into fourth of the championship,
07:29both himself and Vial
07:31going past the absent Nukas Kunin
07:33into fourth and fifth in the series.
07:34But right now, as it stands,
07:35Vial would just be one point behind the Italian.
07:38And that's not just the battle for fourth overall.
07:40It's also the battle for being the best
07:42MXGP-class rookie of the season.
07:44Yeah, and it was an expensive mistake as well
07:45because Vial was 12 points behind Adamo
07:47going into this first race.
07:49They say that he's gained 11 as it stands right now.
07:52That's more on Adamo for making that mistake
07:54with Vial making a great start,
07:56coming out in second at the moment.
07:58Yeah, he's Adamo now 4.3 seconds shy
08:01of Dylan Walsh in ninth place.
08:02So work to do for the factory rider.
08:05Yeah, 10 foxhole shots now for Vial
08:07for the season.
08:11But Dylan Walsh here, circulate.
08:13He said at the start of the race,
08:15didn't he, in his pre-run interview,
08:16that the intensity on those first couple of laps
08:18from those guys out there,
08:19and even though we, you know,
08:21we are missing a few riders,
08:22it's still intense.
08:23These guys are sort of pretty much,
08:25you know, in at the sharp end now.
08:27They're right at the end of the season.
08:28And obviously, they're just
08:30pretty much doing what they do.
08:31They get the gate drop.
08:33They do what they do,
08:34sort of bang elbows and bars
08:36and hustle for positions.
08:38And, you know, they're used to being there.
08:40Dylan Walsh here, as he said,
08:41he's a little bit sort of ring rusty
08:43because their outdoor season
08:44finished already a few weeks ago.
08:46And they're, you know,
08:47so he's probably not had that same
08:49intense grounding coming into this weekend.
08:51But, you know,
08:52he'll be in Australia next week as well.
08:54Maybe there'll be a little bit
08:55to gain from this weekend.
08:56Yeah, for sure.
08:57And, of course, last time we saw him
08:58at the world stage
08:58was representing Team GB
08:59at the MXN Nations
09:01in Ironman last year there.
09:03Not a great weekend for him,
09:04but, yeah, a true journeyman
09:06all over the world.
09:07America, Australia,
09:08he'll race pretty much anywhere.
09:09The former British MX2 champion.
09:13Fevera closing in ever so slightly
09:15on Tom Vial.

09:52those early lap misfires
09:53for Fevera,

09:57in the sighting lap
09:58so he messed up
09:59that Hurling's through easily

10:03and trying to hunt

10:07But for Fevera,
10:08he's been going to think
10:09and if he can get past Fevera,
10:10set himself up for second,

10:12he wins the GP,
10:13that's what will be on his mind.

11:27a week ago
11:28can't take his eye
11:29for the ball,
11:29can't afford to sit back
11:30and relax
11:31because if anyone's
11:32going to sort of
11:33go for that win
11:34now that that championship's
11:34in the bag,
11:35it's going to be his
11:35team-mate Tom Vial.
11:36We saw that
11:37in the latter stages,
11:38the gap between them
11:38as they cross the line
11:39at the end of race two
11:40in Turquia
11:41was just 0.499 of a second,
11:43wasn't it?

11:44between them.
11:45So no wonder he sort of
11:47put the burners on early
11:48just to try and establish
11:49himself at the end of the field

11:52but he seems to be doing
11:54a good job of managing
