02:19the bottom box making moves yeah hunter's got some work to do but we talked about it before the gate
02:23dropped it's days like today qualifying practice where kenny was a little bit off these are when he sneaks up

02:51championship he's closing on prado for the lead and beginning to get away from deacon
02:57yeah he is and what ricky mentioned earlier about hayden and anybody out there he just kind of felt
03:02like nobody would be able to get away i think jorge's kind of in that same situation not really trying
03:07too hard but he looks good will just thinking about kenny he went through so much of the supercross
03:13season this year really not changing too much on his bike he was kind of known for just like
03:18keeping with his setup and sort of working around it well talking to him earlier on today before racing
03:24started he said the track kind of caught him out a little bit so they started to make some changes
03:28that's unusual to hear from ken and you can hear in his voice he's like well we're going to have

03:32see now how that works out i just don't know if there's anything you can throw guys at ken roxon
03:37he apparently can't just fix when it comes to game drop time well i have first-hand experience working
03:42with ken when we terry hart and i had hrc or rch pardon me and he kenny has come a

03:49uh and and with that you know in due time he just knows so much about it about the bike

03:56going to do and all you know making those changes not always is a better thing so i think he's

04:02huge strides and having larry brooks on board has helped him as well he's got a great race team
04:06underneath him and uh and some monster energy supercross championship yeah no i agree i mean it was kind of
04:12me my i used to have a weird bike set up and the thing for me is like i knew

04:17didn't work but the point is i knew exactly what was going on jt yeah and just you know to

04:23on that guys watching roxon and honestly this goes for jorge prado too when you look at this racetrack
04:28and the way you have to attack it it's kind of picture perfect for them because they are masters
04:33at finding traction where others can't really override this track because some of the sections yes
04:39you can be aggressive but you see how kind of careful you have to be you have to put your
04:43tires
04:43right in the perfect position and search out traction in some of these sections and you're
04:48simply not going to find riders more adept at that than the two up front right now
04:52yeah prado got to give him his props as well with a 1.6 second lead hunter lawrence has caught

04:59for fifth oh and he almost goes down yeah and i think what jt is talking about just you know

05:04way this this racetrack is i can kind of assume being out front it's a huge advantage because
05:09it's not a lot of opportunities to pass so you have to really charge into these sections and we
05:14saw it happen with cole davies he was clearly the fastest person but just making that time up there's
05:19a chance that you can make a mistake as hunter lawrence's did jorge prado is in a great position

05:57on jorge prado that's going to slow ken down a little bit which will allow hayden to close in the

06:04this could be interesting still a lot of time left here in this race 13 minutes or 14 minutes plus

06:17those guys to your advantage yeah i think at this point you know you can see jorge be able to

06:21away in certain parts parts of the racetrack one of the sections i think he's getting away is right

06:32where cole davies fell watch all that sand that jorge throws up ken has to be a little bit farther

06:42game cat mouse with these two we asked jorge about the consistency and trying to win this title yesterday
06:49well i'm very happy to be leading the smx championship i would say it's consistency doing a
06:56good supercross season and then good outdoors and that put me in a good position coming into the smx
07:02and obviously a good first round that's why we are leading this championship right now and
07:06yeah i'm just super happy to be in this position and with options to get this title so i'm really
07:12looking forward for the last two rounds as you heard him talk about the end of pro motocross and how
07:17well that went for him and it was well documented that the team had found something with the bike that
07:23kind of gave him a bit of a feel that he got back in europe for mxgps they've been fairly
07:27closeted
07:27about what that is but i got to talk to to um to the team today to ask a little
07:32bit more about if it's
07:33going to translate over here to these more hybrid tracks and they said well when it came to columbus
07:38they thought no and then jorge rode here on friday and said hey i think that those parts and they
07:45are
07:45parts that if we put them on the bike they're kind of going to give me the same feel so
07:49they put them on
07:50he rode it here today and this may be the result of what we're seeing i was told this would
07:55not work
07:56on a full supercross track with works but they are making it work and it is clearly giving jorge
08:02brado something that he needs and something that he felt in pro motocross that helped him out there
08:07oh very interesting and here's hunter lawrence getting inside got a different rhythm than cooper
08:12webb one triple again one knot and that allowed webb to hold him off but this is a big battle

08:17yeah a big battle like hunter has been very close to cooper for the last time we showed him as

08:22they're starting to close in on eli tomac so i think hunter kind of understands unless the three up
08:26front make a huge mistake third might be the best he can do but the way this championship been third
08:32could get you an overall if you come back that second moto that's true but he's got to deal with

08:38certainly there's no slouch you're holding you back these 90 degree corners are so frustrating in a
08:43situation like this there's nowhere you can go if you go to the outside you lose so much track position
08:49there's so much time i should say giving up a lot of real estate and man it's so so difficult

08:55a move and talking about it all day long yeah this is that position oh i was about to say
09:01hunter's
09:02gonna have to go in and move some furniture in a minute but that's not the guy that you want

09:05do i think he's got his own service as well but he goes up around webb and closing on tomac

09:13a couple of moments early in this race tomac was closing on deegan for third he has lost that toe
09:18you see no one up ahead of him and now into the clutches of hunter lawrence the legend two races

09:24in his career now we have the wheels on the ground flag out someone barsha you see up and off

09:29but at least back on the bike so tomac had some speed early now fighting lawrence yeah i think
09:37this is kind of the scenario where we talk about like a racetrack you know the dogs that's running
09:40at the racetrack you got to have that rabbit that they chase while eli lost toes um you know close
09:46excuse me he lost the wheel of hey deegan and those guys and now he starts riding behind him which
09:51allows hunter lawrence to catch back now you can see hunter go up the inside oh and rocks into the
09:56inside on prado to take the lead at the exact moment that lawrence made the move on tomac so ken

10:03to the number one spot yeah i like to see how that pass got initiated wondering if they took alternate
10:11lines coming out of that sand section before they cross back over the start nevertheless ken stayed with
10:16it he pressured prado prado couldn't pull away and boom makes a move into the lead no surprise great job
10:26by kidding well this is massive because i know it's only moto one and there's a whole second motor to
10:31go
10:31but prado could have been looking at a huge point lead if he had won the overall today big step

10:36the right direction here's the path he's a ways back right here james yeah it looks like jorge i noticed
10:41the other lap he started going outside so there's a rotter down that kind of slows him down but when
10:46you look at this race ken was actually faster than jorge and 90 percent of the racetrack it was just

10:52sand section as i was talking about early he had to kind of let him go to for vision so
10:57he was able
10:57to keep that gap closed and make that pass hunter lawrence makes the pass for third place or fourth
11:02place excuse me on eli tomac eli's having a solid rod he didn't make it too tough for hunter a
11:08lot of
11:08action that lap what can you say that has not been said about ken roxson a whole summer off and
11:16he is
11:17right back where he was in monster energy supercross out front what no gate drops time off no problem
11:24guys picking up where he left him jt yeah just had been watching that and i know you guys are
11:29limited
11:30you know by what you can see on the screen but ken roxson have been closing every single time going
11:34inside the sand you see him right there and prado had been going outside and he's now shifted to the
11:40inside he'd been closing there every single time once that rider went down on that one lap that was the
11:45double whammy that roxson needed and he made the pass straight away so he had been setting that up for
11:50laps and finally made it happen now it could be down to prado versus deegan for a second hey folks

12:29on the lappers but if there is a hint of hard pack where you need to be really precise and

12:42noticed when ken looked like early in that race like he was charging and then he just went to work
12:47as you said sitting back behind jorge and if you noticed when he was behind him he was just on
12:52the
12:52little bit farther on the inside or on the outside and what he was doing was missing those slippery spots
12:57and sometimes when you're in second you can do that so you start setting the guy up in front of
13:02where jorge doesn't know that um and he capitalizes we're looking at justin looks like he's okay he's
13:08back in the paddock hopefully he's back for that second moto but that's just the race crash we talk
13:13about with the 94 ken roxson marsha announcing yesterday he's not going to return to that red bull
13:20troy lee designs ducati team actually had scored enough points with some of the contract stipulations
13:26he had where it was his option to return if he wanted to he's got different plans next year not
13:30exactly sure what those are but roxson meanwhile on the suzuki opening it up to 1.7 but prado has
13:37to
13:37hustle certainly doesn't want to allow deegan to get a wheel on him well here's the thing about this
13:42newer generation compared to dating james and i but nowadays these riders are so good at just
13:49building a small gap whether it's a second or two seconds and they just maintain that whereas you know
13:5610 years ago if you weren't winning by 10 15 seconds it was a failure you know and you just
14:01wanted to
14:02keep building on that lead where these kenny is one of the best at that is maintaining a small gap
14:08yeah
14:08i mean i think personally do you think even by being that way my point was when i was trying
14:13to win that
14:13way i didn't want to give you any kind of confidence at all i was trying to demoralize you so

14:19staying with me you might be like oh a couple different lines i might be able to pick it but

14:23getting beat by 10 15 seconds you're like i have no i'm not going to be able to make that

14:28if you were trying your hardest right and i knew that i wanted to make sure that you knew that

14:33pulling away from you that last lap yep there is deegan and prado having a tough time with lap traffic
14:41that has been one of his achilles heels this year he finally gets around i think that's benny bloss
14:46on the liquid molly beta but deegan made his own mistakes and wasn't able to take advantage that was nice
14:52by benny giving way to the leaders pulling over not interfering with the race leaders straight
15:00etiquette can deegan make a run at prado they have been back and forth all summer long in pro motocross

15:21malcolm really cool moment last week it was bad obviously the way it started landing on jason
15:26anderson uh just a mistake they made that muddy jump but then helped anderson get up
15:31i asked malcolm yesterday and he said i've never felt like that before something came over me i didn't
15:36even care about my race or where i finished i just wanted to help me so it's like an angel
15:41got on my
15:41shoulder and said help this guy anderson did give it a shot to ride today in practice has an injured
15:47hand
15:47from that but wasn't able to go so no anderson this weekend love the sportsmanship yeah i mean i
15:54already told you james he's he's my favorite stewart hey that's okay my own kids say the same thing
16:03uncle malcolm we want to go to his house so i'm not even the favorite stewart or seven in my
16:07own house
16:08it's a disrespect yeah you're telling me they're jealous when you go to the races because they know you're
16:14going to be hanging out with uncle malcolm and they're not going to be able to see him yeah they

16:17hang out with him not you they're like are you going can we go to uncle malcolm's house i'm like
16:20well i think he's racing this weekend where your daddy's going a little busy and he's busy right
16:26now keeping tomac in sight jt james you're not even the favorite number seven in your household
16:32they're huge aaron plessinger fans let's not leave that one out of there too oh i mean
16:36man anyway malcolm's looking really good out there ken rox is looking good but jt is not lying
16:45lap traffic it's verandas who is down early that roxon's going to deal with gap is only 1.2 seconds
16:50over prado yeah i was looking at that um i think jorge's got away from hayden so he's able to
16:55ride his
16:56own lines maybe ken's got caught up in these lap riders but i got what about five more laps yeah

17:01here three minutes plus two about 50 seconds what 51 seconds they're running 51 and a half
17:09and you got to believe that helps a guy like jorge and the one thing he's probably thinking hey i

17:14ken's been off the bike so the one thing he might be lacking is that fitness i did this pro

17:19the race is at 30 minutes plus two laps two of them so now you're starting to see that gap
17:23close so
17:23if there is any weakness which is not much in the 94 it would be towards the end of the
17:28races
17:28see if jorge can try to explore that right now look at the graphic at the lower left that is
17:33the points
17:34in this smx world championship as they run roxson if he were to win the overall today would close
17:39within two of prado double points prado could really extend it if he could win the overall this is a

17:44step well 100 and i'm just thinking about the conditions it's starting to get a little choppy out
17:49there small little accelerating bumps start to get hard packed down to the base here really slick and i
17:56believe this is where the steel chassis really shines it gets a little bit more flexed a little
18:01more compliant more lateral grip as well so maybe that's starting to play a part for prado as well
18:06yeah the steel frame and the k10 the aluminum on the suzuki and the yamaha of deegan wait a minute
18:12deegan's back he is i was wondering that and what hayden wants is for jorge to catch ken roxson
18:18they slow each other down and then you're going to have about three laps left and there's going to be

18:22battle so hayden's doing everything he's doing a good job of staying there you you call it the bogo
18:27right we got a future bogo sale this might be a lightning sale from right here that's right
18:34oh this is going to be a good stretch run roxson prado deegan hunter lawrence was not able to make
18:41up ground when he got the fourth in fact he's actually lost time and they're frustrated with the

18:52and like we talked about this track it is very very one line for the most cards this is when

19:16well roxson so far so good in his return to racing didn't run any pro motocross we asked about that

19:27obviously it's a big deal double points and then triple points but at the same time i just
19:32like to keep things the same i'm gonna race the same way as i did last weekend i feel like
19:35every time i tune in too much on what's going on the point system and try to come up with
19:40some kind of
19:41uh um game plan you know i just prefer to just go and race you know what i mean do
19:47the best that i
19:47can and then whatever the result is uh it is what it is so um not really too worried about
19:52it just out
19:52here having a good time and and yeah put out the best version of myself really that's yeah that's
19:58kind of how his approach was at monster energy supercross this year remember he's like not really
20:02focused on the point just one weekend at a time and listen everybody has a different strategy clearly
20:07that's what works for him well yeah because the seating he certainly took a beating as far as the
20:11seating without getting pro motocross points compared to prado who's seated second but he's
20:16making up ground right now but he's got to hang in there two to go oh yeah i was right
20:21there yeah he
20:22is and you see that little bit gap that jorge has over payton which is going to allow him to
20:26maybe take
20:27a shot at kenny and with these big 180s like particularly here after this finish line ken has to watch
20:33out because he's trying to stay close is he going to sneak up the inside he looks back white flag

20:39out one to go prado shows him a wheel gonna be different rhythms here nope they both quad over
20:45the table yeah but this is dangerous because of some of these corners kenny's going to have to leave
20:49that inside open and so jorge what he's got to do is just stay close if it's not at this

20:53the one before the mechanics area i believe he will take a shot if he doesn't try before uh if
20:58he's going to
20:59to attempt to pass he has got to make it otherwise he loses too much time got the inside but

21:05have the angle yeah you can't do that and that costume could barely get the triple in that was a
21:11big mistake by horny as ricky was talking about like if you're going to take that shot you got to
21:15make it count what you can't do is just lose the time yeah he might have had an opportunity to
21:19pass but
21:21100 percent sand is the only thing that remains prado gets back to the rear wheel checkered flag is out
21:26in sight ken roxson wins moto wood in los angeles oh man you see that fist pump from kenny and
21:37deegan will
21:37take third they're going to be practically all tied up in points if it keeps going like this
21:42heading into the finale but an incredible performance by ken roxson the summer off right back where he left off
