03:48Not only is the leaders trying to get up, but all these guys that's here because every position
03:52you make, that's a lot of money on the line, a lot of pride, and you've got to set yourself
03:56up for those triple points of next weekend.
03:59I'm just thinking about Levi Kitchen right here, and you go to the first moto.
04:04He was ninth, or pardon me, seventh, and he's running second right now.
04:09And just think about all the championships that have come down to the wire for him,
04:13whether the Pro Motocross Championship this year or Divisional Supercross Championships,
04:19Salt Lake, and coming in on the short end of the stick, and you're just like, oh, man,
04:24just bridespades so many times.
04:26Could this finally be the redemption?

04:29Davies has headed to the mechanics area, and now to the paddock.
04:35And it's Kurtz on his day, and really any realistic chance at the SMX World Championship.

05:36Back in pro motocross, think about that high point race and trying to pass Gabe Muneer.
05:40So, if anything, that is showing signs of life in the passing game for him.
05:44Sure, Nick Romano not loving being on the losing end of that, but for Shimoda, those are
05:49the types of passes he has to make and make them fast if he wants to be in the
05:53and contention to win these things.
05:54Yeah, I remember when we were talking about that a couple years ago.
05:57Like, Joe, it was a problem.
05:59He needed to make those aggressive passes.
06:01And then he went on and started making passes like that.
06:04I remember a couple times with Hayden.
06:05He can really like, whoa, whoa, Joe.
06:06So, the routers are like, hey, maybe you guys need to just calm down on telling Joe
06:10him to make these passes because he goes opposite ends.

07:55As for Levi Kitchen, he actually won.
07:57Oh, and he almost goes over the bars.
07:59He has one moto win in the playoffs.
08:01And that was the inaugural race at the LA Coliseum, the finale of 2023.
08:05I actually feel really bad for Ryder D right here in this situation.
08:10He's had a great SMX playoffs going.
08:13And just wrong place, wrong time, not by his own doing.
08:16But he is mounting on a really good charge right here.
08:20Every point is going to count, obviously.
08:22So a lot at stake for this Ryder.
08:24Yeah, and ever since he went down, he's been pretty aggressive, like, coming up.
08:28He gave a couple bumps, some elbow grease to a lot of guys.
08:31So I think this will help him if he's able to get back up
08:34for when that championship comes next week.
08:37Because I do believe to go from not winning a race to winning a championship,
08:41that is hard to do when it comes to that pressure as he makes a nice pass there.
08:44And you're trying to come back.
08:45Yeah, and another thing, too, James, as you know, how he rides in this moto,
08:49you can bring that momentum to the final round next week.
08:54And if you come out of here and you know that you were the better guy,
08:58you come in with a lot of confidence the championship weekend.

09:06If it ends like this for them in seventh, he'll be third overall.
09:10If he can make two positions, I think he would push Kinchin to third.

10:24Talking to Pierce earlier, I said, hey, you know, this is your kind of setup here today.

10:36But I've got to wonder if that takes that pressure, that expectation off.
10:39And he did also tag that as well with his more track time.

11:00We almost thought he was a mud guy because he rode really well in Cleveland in the mud.
11:04Not so good last week in the mud in Columbus.
11:07But he's back third in this moto.
11:09Yeah, I just think it shows you how close everyone is.
11:12I mean, even what we were talking about with Levi.
11:14I actually thought Levi real good at that first moto.
11:16But him crashing and then not being able to on the track that's difficult to pass.
11:20The results show, man, it looked like he had a bad moto.
11:23He's out front.
11:25Things happen.
11:25And you can see the difference.
11:27So good to see Roder, I mean, Landon Gordon out here on the podium.
11:32And not only the inconsistency and how close these riders are in speed and you just never know what's going
11:39to happen, Jason, at the same time, you know, this track really caters to that style of riding as well.
11:45Because there's not a lot of difference and riders aren't doing many things different.
11:50DeFrancisco trying to make the difference here.
11:52He is all over McAdoo.
11:53He needs to pass McAdoo and get to Brown and pass him to push Kitchin one position further back overall
12:02and make up four more points.
12:04Shimoda is all over Gordon.
12:06Oh, and a mistake by McAdoo.

12:09But the pass is made by DeFrancisco.
12:11That was a blessing for Ryder DeFrancisco.
12:14Talked about him being wrong place, wrong time, almost an identical situation there.
12:19Maybe the tide has changed.
12:22And as a Ryder, you know you would look at those situations.

12:25You're like, oh, it must have been meant to be.
12:27But, yeah, I think Ryder's doing a good thing.
12:30I felt like at one point he was going to move McAdoo out of the way, but that didn't happen
12:34anyway because he's trying to go to the front.
12:37Look at Joe Shimoda doing what Joe does.
12:41Trying to get this Modo podium away from Gordon Shimoda.
12:45His fourth overall, even if he makes his pass, it will not push him to third.
12:49But he wants to make the pass anyway, and there he goes.

12:54That same corner that he got Nick Romano in as well earlier on in the race.
13:00He's able to carry a little bit more speed.
13:02Those guys in front of him were going to the right, trying to open the corner up.

13:14No, this is going to be hard for Joe because, I mean, the good thing is he can take this
13:17momentum and build towards next year.
13:19But because this playoff and having three races, if it takes him too long to get going, and he might

13:27But it's going to be costly because of those injuries and coming in and not having intensity to open a
13:32few races.
13:33Yeah, and a lot of crashes in the mud, put him way back in points.

15:03It was a mistake made by him, and as you guys are saying, his best finish, it's not going to
15:07be there today.

15:08And that is pretty much going to make the title out of reach, so you've got to wonder, is he
15:12going to come back and race next weekend?

15:16And then where will the focus be if he does show up and race?
15:19Oh, that's the championship point since they run RC.

15:45Of course, it's a big weekend.
15:46But don't forget that a lot of these guys ride during the week, right?
15:51And anything can happen during the week as well.
15:53You hope that isn't the case.
15:54You hope that they play it a bit safe, not take too many unnecessary risks, and just really sharpen the
16:01pencil.
16:01And make sure you come into the final round ready to go and do perfect execution.

16:24And he almost feels that the brake in some ways helped him.

16:28Now he's sharpening that pencil, as you would say, at the right time.

16:36It's a little under the weather this weekend.
16:38I talked to Dudney earlier.
16:39Didn't ride all the practice sessions yesterday.
16:41But he is caught in here.
16:43This is for eight.
16:44Sweet redemption it would be for Kitchen.
16:46Oh my gosh.
16:46Think about his time in the 250 class.
16:50Yeah, he has been on the receiving end of a lot of heartbreak.
16:53But he'd be in control for next week.

17:02I mean, I expected Hymas to be where Bo Mare was.
17:05I mean, he's that caliber of rider.

17:12And it's kind of the same.
17:14You know, he ends up in 15th.
17:16You know, but the opening lap, he was in 13th.
17:19The first lap.
17:19So probably some crashes.
17:21But as you just said, a guy that came with a lot of momentum in the last two outdoors.
17:25You would kind of expect things to be a little bit better than him.
17:29This is Brown.
17:30He's catching Gordon for fourth.
17:36For some of these riders, too, that maybe the season hasn't gone as well as they've wanted it to go
17:41and gotten the finishes they had hoped.
17:45This is an opportunity for some of these riders to have good finishes and bring that momentum into the offseason
17:52where you start prepping for the 2027 season.
17:55And you have some hope.
17:57You go in with some positive thoughts and vibes and knowing and most importantly, believing that you have what it
18:03takes to run up front.
18:05So Brown makes that pass on Gordon.
18:08We're showing you the SMX points again on the lower left.
18:10As you mentioned, James, the 11-point gap that Kitchin would have if it ends this way.
18:15Second would be enough to clinch next week, even if DiFrancisco wins the race, even with the triple points.
18:21Rare is it that someone has that big a gap with triple points that they don't have to go out
18:26and win the finale.
18:27But look at this.
18:29Shimoda has caught Bomair.
18:32Yeah, and I think, you know, I'm not really sure if that changes that much between the podium and Joe
18:37Gitz.
18:37It won't change anything for Julian.
18:38But what we saw earlier when Julian kind of let Levi by, you know, because...
18:43Shimoda makes the pass.

18:45I don't think it affects Bomair.
18:46He's still going to win.
18:47But it puts Shimoda on the podium and bumps DiFrancisco to fourth.

18:55But because, you know, when you're looking at, as we're looking at Hunter Lawrence, Joe's teammate,
18:59getting ready to come out for that 450 race, when you look at Julian, because they only pay
19:04for overall, unlike motocross, where they pay per moto, that him letting these guys go by
19:09doesn't really change anything.
19:10So I think he understands.
19:11I got the win.
19:12That's all that matters here.
19:13Yeah, and you can tell to what James was saying.
19:16If you watch, Bomair just kind of leaps up a little bit, anticipating that pass, JT.
19:21Guys, this has to feel good for Joe Shimoda.
19:25You know, remember, he had to exit the Monterey Supercross series with injury.
19:29As soon as he gets the red plate in pro motocross, he exits Southwick due to injury.
19:34And his return to racing last weekend was not a welcome one at all.
19:38So here, at American Honda's home race, getting back into relevancy has to be a positive step
19:44in the right direction.
19:45Maybe give Joe a reason to smile.
