00:00Davies needs to avoid trouble, but with the likes of Hymas, last week's winner in the mix, anything can happen.
00:07Here we go.
00:11Oh, and a pileup right out of the gate, and Davies, another good start.
00:19Just grabbing the lead is the 13 of Beaumare, and Hymas is there as well.
00:24If you're Levi Kitchen, those are guys you want near Cole Davies, but you didn't get the best to start.
00:30Cole Davies executed it pretty good. It looked like he had about three or four of his teammates in there,
00:34but look at the battle already for the lead. Julian Beaumare, Chance Hymas goes around Cole Davies.
00:40Yeah, these are riders that have won races this year, Beaumare and Hymas, so they're capable.
00:46Where is Kitchen? 11. Into the woods, and look at that move by Hymas for the lead.
00:51Just been named to Team USA going off of laps. We can see the difference in his riding as he
00:57gets passed back by Julian,
00:58but going after one win last week, it looks like a different. Chance Hymas both knows his real estate is
01:05very important when he's opening laps.
01:07Gotta love how raceable this track is on lap one. Beaumare and Hymas all over it, insides, outsides, doubles, singles,
01:14roll, whatever it takes. Beaumare wants to lead back.
01:17Yeah, Julian got his first ever win a few races ago. Chance got his one yesterday, last weekend.
01:23So these guys are going, and they're racing for third in the point.
01:26So there's a battle between these two outside of just Levi Kitchen and Cole Davies, and you can see it
01:31here on display.
01:32Well, yeah, you said that on Race Day Live, our qualifying show.
01:35If you're Kitchen, this is exactly what you need.
01:37You need these guys to be on their game, and they are so far.
01:41The problem with you, you're running down in ninth place at the moment.
01:44So if I'm Cole Davies, I'm just looking at this, paying attention, what are 47?
01:48As long as the 47 isn't winning, I'm in a great spot if I'm Cole.
01:53Might he even play it a little more conservative on this first lap?
01:56Even maybe less aggressive than usual? Is that possible?
01:59Yeah, you can tell, like, there's a couple corners he wanted to get out front,
02:01but now he's kind of settling back.
02:03I think the realization of where he's at, he's in a great spot.
02:06And Cole's been run great all day long.
02:08He feels pretty comfortable on the racetrack.
02:10Levi Kitchen's going to dictate what Cole Davies do, I believe.
02:13A big jump there from Bomer, trying to keep Heimitz in sight.
02:19Davies bearing down on him from third.
02:23And Bomer has been a revelation in promocross this year.
02:27I'm looking out the window, and Jason, sorry to cut you off,
02:30but Levi Kitchen's next to last. He went down.
02:32It is even worse.
02:33Yes, he just came through in 35th place.
02:39And we had not really looked at the possibility of Davies building up to a big point lead or even
02:46clinching in this moto.
02:48But now Kitchen has some serious work to do just to get it back in range.
02:55Number has to be 24, I actually believe, for Davies to wrap this up.
03:01Kitchen would be 34 points down right now, obviously.
03:03It's only a lot but a half into this moto, and you expect Kitchen to move up.
03:06But it's getting a little bit desperate right now.
03:10Yeah, and it's a weird position to be in when you start racing.
03:13Like, do you tell Cole this?
03:14I think if you do, obviously he's won a championship before.
03:18It might change the way he's riding, and then things might transpire.
03:21So you want to know, but at the same time, you want him to continue racing for JT.
03:26Now, just watching this race unfold, basically this first lap is a microcosm of what this championship has been.
03:33Cole Davies gets a good start, puts himself in a positive situation.
03:36And Levi Kitchen, once again, is forced to pass virtually everybody on the racetrack to keep himself relevant.
03:43If this continues to go this way, and Cole Davies does indeed looking at, does win this championship,
03:48you're going to have to look back at this very situation as probably the biggest reason why.
03:54Oh, the amount of motos we've seen that's happened to Kitchen, including last week at Bud's Creek,
04:00and the race before at Unadilla, and the race before at Washougal,
04:06and the race before that at Spring Creek.
04:08He has had trouble, a lot of it not even his own doing.
04:11But these first lap, first turn incidents have been brutal.
04:14Yeah, and that's when we, I know a lot of people, when we say starts are important.
04:17Well, this is the reason why.
04:19He's out front.
04:19Well, I can almost say that.
04:20He went down last weekend with the lead, but you kind of avoid the troubles.
04:24And although we don't know exactly what happened, I'm assuming it's probably because he didn't get a good start,
04:29probably having to pass people, and, yeah, it just gets caught up in these situations.
04:35Battle for the lead is on.
04:36Bomer not letting Hymas go.
04:38There's Davies.
04:40Landon Gordon, after a podium last week, is running fourth.
04:44Minear, Yoder, Benick, Long, Dudney, and Pierce Brown.
04:47Brown down the top ten.
04:49Bottom box is Kitchen trying to make moves.
04:51Yeah, which is kind of answering your question a little bit, like with Cole Davis.
04:54You can see he's dropped back.
04:56He's got a good gap on fourth place, which is his teammate.
04:58So if you're Cole Davis, this is the perfect spot.
05:00I'm sure he's probably now aware that Levi even went down.
05:04He doesn't see him and just got to continue moving forward.
05:07But these two out front, they're going at it and be able to possibly win your second overall of this
05:14season.
05:15He's huge for these guys.
05:16Also, they are battling for third in points.
05:19Bomer has had a couple of rough results lately, and Hymas has closed to within five points of him for
05:24third in the championship.
05:25So they want to beat each other today.
05:27They both told me they got a little bonuses on the line.
05:30Not huge money, but both would definitely want it.
05:32Not just for the bonus money, but really for momentum and confidence because the playoffs are coming up.
05:38And with a clean slate, you know Hymas and Bomer are thinking they can win it.
05:42They want to prove it today.
05:44Yeah, I think this has been a great year for Chance.
05:46You know, to be able to stick to the formula.
05:48Like, hey, you get here when you get here.
05:51And what I mean by he came in the season hurt.
05:53He didn't override because years past, he'll win these races and have injuries.
05:57He's been taking his time, and now you're starting to see it.
06:00But I just look at how more aggressive he is in the opening part of the race, this today, than
06:05he has all season.
06:06And you've got to just think that's because of what he was able to accomplish.
06:09Looking good for Chance Hymas.
06:11Kitchin now 23rd.
06:13It's 35th two laps ago.
06:15Ryder out of Washougal, Washington.
06:18Now it's Hail Mary time.
06:19He's got to hope for some luck.
06:21How far forward can he even get himself?
06:24Yeah, but as JT said, like, this has kind of been the story of the year.
06:28But also, you never know in this class, you know.
06:31Oh, you never know exactly.
06:33Hymas has crashed.
06:35Bingo looks like where Chance is.
06:37He gets up.
06:38He's in fourth now.
06:40It wasn't Cole that just passed.
06:41Cole's ahead of him.
06:42But I believe that's Landon Gordon ahead of him as well.
06:45What a difference the podium makes.
06:47Gordon right back where he was a week ago on that 180.
06:51Now third.
06:52There's Hymas back to fourth.
06:54And another Yamaha with Veneer coming through next.
06:59Let's see what happened to Hymas on the replay.
07:02Yeah, all is good.
07:03He's starting to get away from Julian.
07:05This is that section they changed last year before the destination or the last race here.
07:09Starts getting the swap going.
07:11And you can tell there he wasn't able to hit the brakes.
07:13Got into that corner too hot.
07:15Gets crossed, but it goes down.
07:16But likely for him, he didn't stall the motorcycle, but takes him out of the lead.
07:21Yeah, eight and a half seconds would be the deficit to the leader of Bomer now.
07:26Let's see if Hymas can wrap it back up.
07:29And you just got to believe that the way Chance is rotting and being named to the motocross nation,
07:34that honor to go to have the belief of those guys picking you not only to represent USA,
07:40but put you on the 450.
07:41He's got to give Chance a lot of, you know, belief in himself.
07:45I think he'll actually come back up in this race.
07:50And he is challenging Gordon now.
07:53And there's Davies running a smart race, all alone in second.
07:59Man, what a boost this would be for Bomer.
08:03Who has now definitely opened it up.
08:05He's got a four and a half second gap.
08:08Yeah, and if you're Julian, and even Chance, I mean, Chance is the biggest threat at the moment.
08:13It would probably be Landon Gordon, the guy that's probably going to fight him.
08:16Cole Davies, probably not going to put up too much fight.
08:19So you get around Landon Gordon and close that gap.
08:21You might have a shot to get close to Julian, who you're ultimately battling in this third place.
08:29So Gordon with that third last week and running third again here, JT.
08:33Yeah, he looks great.
08:34And he's following closely just behind Hymas there, Cade Minear, another teammate.
08:38And that's really where I want to go with this.
08:40You know, not only does Levi Kitchen have to go out and try to beat Cole Davies on a week
08:44-to-week basis,
08:44he was, you know, only a one-point lead.
08:46But look at the situation inside the top ten.
08:50Cole Davies has four teammates inside the top ten making the job that much harder.
08:56Even if they came in virtually tied, he would have to contend with four other riders inside the top ten,
09:01let alone Cole Davies.
09:02It is a really, really difficult enterprise to deal with Monster Star or Yamaha Racing.
09:06Yeah, and I think a lot of people would be thinking,
09:09oh, those are teammates who would maybe make it difficult on Kitchen or rough them up.
09:13They don't even need to go that far.
09:14Just look at what's happening on the track right now.
09:16It's also teammates that are most likely not going to challenge Davies, not going to go by him.
09:21And when you've got to finish out of the top five, as Davies does,
09:24and you've got six teammates who are probably not going to beat you,
09:27the math becomes a lot easier.
09:29Yeah, it does.
09:30And Cole Davies, this is like your O-line, you know, or your quarterback, your blinds,
09:35how you're running back.
09:37You've got protection back there.
09:38So, like you said, if Levi even gets to these guys,
09:41they're not going to do anything because Cole's ahead,
09:43but they're just not going to make their bikes awfully wide.
09:46But goes back to Cole, executes the stars, and he's ahead, and Levi didn't.
09:51So, yeah, long way through it, 47.
09:55Look at the graphic left side of the screen.
09:56That is the SMX points bubble to earn instant direct qualification into the Motos.
10:02Gordon rallying late in the year,
10:04although now under pressure from Hymas is trying to catch Drew Adams for that last playoff spot.
10:10He's doing the best he can to score points,
10:12but Hymas is going to be a tough customer.
10:14Around the outside goes to 29, and he's got him.
10:17Yeah, chances come in.
10:18Landon, you could tell he didn't really put up too much of a fight with him.
10:22He understands that, hey, maybe I should just follow the 29.
10:24He's going towards the front, and that goes back to kind of what I said.
10:27If he gets up to Cole Davies' chance, that is, you'll probably see the same kind of feeling around him.
10:34Cole's not going to get involved with anyone today.
10:38Drew Adams back there clinging to that final playoff spot.
10:41He is 13th after being very fast in qualifying this morning.
10:45And Kitchin is 16th, and now Kitchin is down.
10:50Well, this could be everything.
10:52He's got to get back to the motorcycle in a very difficult part of the track.
10:57That's the landing of that big downhill.
10:59Yeah, and that's blind.
11:00I was actually talking about that yesterday, about coming off that hill,
11:04that he's got to watch out for guys losing the rear end.
11:06You go back to, what, Hunter Lawrence at Unidill, and these guys are going to go off.
11:10What?
11:11What?
11:12Was he trying to bump start the bike?
11:14What was happening there?
11:15Yeah, I don't know if he actually went down, and he was trying to jump back on the bike,
11:19or he's got his foot ripped off.
11:21But nonetheless, that's a very steep hill, as you can see.
11:25Yeah.
11:26Yeah, this mistake might wrap this championship possibly for Cole Davies.
11:30Bummer.
11:31And it looks like it could be over.
11:34He has problems with the bike after tumbling down that hill,
11:37and if it ends this way, Davies is going to have a 25-point lead and an insurmountable margin.
11:44Unbelievable how these last couple of weeks have unfolded for Levi Kitchin.
11:50Oh, man, bummer for Levi.
11:52Obviously, he has something going on with the motorcycle at this point,
11:55so you wonder, did something cut off?
11:57Did he stall it, or is the bike this way because of that crash?
12:00But that's pretty much all she wrote, if Cole can finish this moto.
12:06Yeah, I believe the mechanics are not supposed to assist outside the mechanics area,
12:09so they can get info.
12:13Yeah, you can tell the guy, the team member, got that signal right before he went in and touched that
12:18bike,
12:19like, do not touch it.
12:21Yeah, he's telling Levi, man, I can't do anything.
12:24And at this point, James, it's academic.
12:26The amount of time he would have lost, even if that bike fired up,
12:30he's not going to get in the points.
12:31He doesn't want to give up.
12:33He's going to try.
12:34Yeah, I mean, Levi, he ain't going to give up,
12:36but at the same time, you're not going to be able to probably get back in the points,
12:40and then you become safety.
12:42You know, I think the team will let him know that.
12:44If there is an issue going on in the bike, they wouldn't let him continue riding anyway,
12:47but bomber for Levi Kitchen.
12:53And this has been the story far too many times.
12:56Got the bike going now.
12:58For Levi in these last couple of races, something seems to go wrong each time.
13:03It hasn't been a measure of the riding.
13:07And just like that, Cole Davies is going to be looking at a point lead,
13:10which would be big enough to wrap the title early.
13:14Incredible how this has unfolded.
13:18Bomair is taking advantage.
13:19He's gone, folks.
13:20He's looking for a moto win.
13:23But Cole Davies, does he even know this right now?
13:27I'm sure he does.
13:29And if not, he's probably going to find out.
13:31And who knows?
13:32He probably saw Levi on the side of the race.
13:34Okay.
13:34They did his lap.
13:35So it won't be long before the 37 realizes.
13:38But again, just how quickly we saw Chance Hymas goes down.
13:42Cole still has to finish this race.
13:43Otherwise, it's obsolete.
13:45So he can't really let off.
13:47I'm sure he's aware to like, hey, just rot this thing on out.
13:52Yeah, that is a fair point.
13:53We're giving Davies the benefit of the doubt.
13:56He's running in second.
13:57He still needs to bring it home.
13:58Throw those points to be official.
14:01J.T., what are you seeing down there?
14:03Well, as soon as you guys mentioned that, I ran over and looked at Cole Davies' pit board there.
14:08It said, breathe.
14:09And below it, those words that probably brought a smile to his face mid-moto at number 47 down.
14:16There you go.
14:17There you go.
14:18So understanding the moment, Cole's a smart rider.
14:22I'm sure he don't know how many people thought this could happen, the way how Levi's been all year.
14:27But, you know, Cole understands that.
14:29Look, I've got to stay focused.
14:34Don't worry about the breathe.
14:36Oh, yeah.
14:36The other one that matters.
14:37Breathe?
14:38What are you talking about?
14:38You probably didn't even see that.
14:39Those numbers that he saw.
14:4147 down.
14:44Close enough.
14:45And Kitchen now credited 40th place.
14:47You have to score 21st to even score any points.
14:50And he is done.
14:52It is over.
14:53And Kitchen's effort to dig this title out is complete.
15:00He tried the amount of things thrown his way the last month or two.
15:04He never gave up on it.
15:06But it's going to end in heartbreak again.
15:09Halfway to the moto.
15:11Reminder to stock up all Monster Energy.
15:15I just can't believe how many times we've seen something like this happen to Kitchen this year.
15:21And he didn't have a chance to fight for it.
15:23No, he didn't.
15:24But like he said, he didn't give up.
15:26I mean, at the end of the day, no matter how, if he finished this championship, it wrapped up.
15:30Levi would probably go look back and think about the mistakes, you know.
15:34For him, he probably was like, man, I probably wasn't one of the best guys.
15:37I could have won this championship.
15:38But he kind of owned you.
15:40But it's been a positive year for Levi.
15:42It's been a positive year for Pro Circuit.
15:44So, although they're not going to get the ultimate prize, still have been a good year.
15:48Another good year is this guy out here.
15:50Julian Beaumere.
15:51Coming into the season, injured.
15:53Coming back out to that gnarly one.
15:55Really kind of did what he needed to do.
15:58Said he was going to take his time.
15:59Make sure he was there and healthy when he came back.
16:01He wanted to prove to all the doubters that this is where he belonged.
16:04And so far this year, he's delivered.
16:07Might do another one, Haley.
16:09Yeah, this really does appear to be the most confident, capable, and positive, really.
16:15Julian Beaumere, we've seen.
16:16Remember one year ago, he had that bad injury, that back injury that had him sidelined for all of Supercross.
16:22And Jason Wygant, when you spoke to him, did you get the sense that he's ahead of schedule with where
16:26he expects to be?
16:27Yeah, absolutely.
16:28Really, the goal was to just use Pro Motocross, Haley, to get ready for the SMX playoffs.
16:34That's where he wants to win.
16:35That's his true focus.
16:36But then the wins, the podiums, the points started coming a lot earlier than they thought.
16:41He was in title contention about halfway through the year.
16:44Got that first overall win at Millville.
16:46So even though the last couple of weeks have come undone for him, he's had his own kitchen-like early
16:52race incidents.
16:53He still knows this is ahead of schedule as far as performance-wise.
16:57Yeah, and what I like about Julian is that I didn't see anything since he was in title shot.
17:02When he got close, he said he changed, really, to Roddy.
17:05He just had mistakes.
17:06You know, first corner, he was up there with Levi at Unadilla.
17:09So there's been things around there, as you just mentioned, maybe outside of his own doing, that's caused him.
17:15But he's been riding this same guy.
17:17And so we're putting him up front, clean start.
17:20The way he's been riding this year, this isn't surprising to see the 13 out.
17:23And you've got to give him and his team credit for allowing this kid to get back up here fully
17:28healthy
17:28because they knew what they had at Julian Beaumere.
17:31Yeah, now just announcing a contract extension.
17:33His deal was up.
17:34He will be back with Red Bull KTM.
17:36And what potential he has.
17:39Look, he has changed a lot of people's minds, showing he's just as good at motocross as Supercross.
17:45But you still have to think, well, no, maybe he's just really good at motocross
17:49and still might be even better at Supercross.
17:51Next year, he can be a real force.
17:53And that is why those SMX hybrid tracks have been a focus for him.
17:57He's going to be a player in a couple of weeks.
17:59He is.
17:59I mean, he's a player right now.
18:01And then I think this season allowed him to, one, kind of solidify, shed any doubts of that anybody has,
18:08even if he has some himself.
18:10But next year, he's going to be in that pressure where Cole Davies and Levi Kitchen is,
18:14where, hey, we're going to be looking at him, his championship.
18:17But been good so far.
18:20Great for this dude, Cole Davies.
18:22He's running great lap time.
18:24So, obviously, I've seen him all day.
18:26He looks very comfortable out there.
18:27Right now, he's in a comfortable spot and fastest guy on the racetrack at the moment,
18:32even though he doesn't need to be.
18:35Maybe he did take the breathe advice as well.
18:37Because he does look relaxed.
18:39And he might go for the moto win after all.
18:41Doesn't need it for the title.
18:42Now, if he does finish in second, and mathematically the championship is his,
18:47per the rules, the title celebration will come after the second moto.
18:51Not going to give him the number one plate after moto won.
18:54He will be at the end of the day.
18:5511 minutes and two laps separate, though.
18:58Davies, from mathematically, clinching a second title this year.
19:04And we mentioned how big a deal that is.
19:05He is 19 years old today.
19:07To be this young and this inexperienced and this solid says a lot.
19:14Yeah, it does say a lot.
19:15You notice a couple corners ago, he took two look backs, you know,
19:18trying to figure out where chance and where the whole field,
19:21because he obviously knows where Levi is.
19:22But that, to me, tells me that now he's starting to understand, hey, championship,
19:27where it is.
19:27He's starting to think about it.
19:29He knows Levi's out.
19:30He's worried about where everyone else is.
19:32Smart riding by the 37.
19:34The goal is the goal.
19:36That's winning the championship.
19:38This is Dax Benick on the 58.
19:42Has been up and down this year.
19:44Started the year quick at the opener.
19:45Got hurt.
19:47Struggled a bit.
19:47But finally around Millville, he's started to find his form.
19:50And we've seen a couple of performances like this in Benick.
19:52Right now, he's chasing Minear.
19:54This is for fifth and sixth.
19:56Best battle on the track.
19:57Yeah, another great year for Dax in a building year as he makes the pass home.
20:02Oh, yeah.
20:03Minear here.
20:04Yeah, I talked to him in between the break, and he was talking about, you know,
20:07just qualifying, you know, maybe having a little bit of struggle there.
20:10But during the races, this kid knows he is one of those guys that has a lot of speed.
20:14And just like Julian and a lot of these guys just need these solid finishes to next year.
20:20Eventually, we're going to be talking about Dax Benick winning some of these races.
20:23And then as for Minear, he was rallying up until that Millville time.
20:27He was battling for a moto win at a podium that day.
20:30And then the last couple of rounds haven't been as good.
20:32And he said he started to feel fatigued.
20:36He's a workhorse.
20:37He said they do all the work they're supposed to do there at that star facility
20:40and then go back out and ride more with old Meanie Genie, Ricky Carmichael's mom.
20:45Genie Carmichael, who will still get out there with the stopwatch.
20:47He was putting in extra time, extra laps.
20:50And he felt by the break, they were starting to catch up with him.
20:53So he's just trying to rebuild now.
20:54Yeah, and that's easy to happen, these young riders.
20:57It's a long season.
20:58And really trying to understand how to put it in.
21:00Maybe throwing some injuries and being off the motorcycle
21:02and obviously continue every weekend fighting, battling guys like this
21:07as Michael Moseman makes a pass on Avery Long here.
21:10It's just a lot.
21:11And you can see the younger guys start to struggle towards the end.
21:14A lot of good things for the future in this class.
21:17Star Racing.
21:18Minear's going to be up there battling in the future as well.
21:20Well, Moseman did, as you said, make the move on Avery Long.
21:25So, yeah, we've got a ton of these Yamahas up here.
21:27That was eighth.
21:31Got Pierce Brown just up ahead in seventh.
21:34Another one.
21:36And, you know, with Davies now being in control of this, look,
21:40Star has been the dominant figure in this championship since 2014.
21:42But with Hayden Deegan moving up and so many young
21:46but really not yet proven riders on the squad,
21:48I think there was a real worry.
21:49Oh, was this the summer?
21:50where they're going to get caught unprepared?
21:54Well, Davies has obviously erased any doubts
21:57that this team is always going to be a contender.
22:00No, they is.
22:01And, I mean, even in the next class,
22:02they got Carson Wood up here at once.
22:04So there's always another one coming up.
22:07And that's what makes this team so strong.
22:09Obviously, they ride during the week together.
22:11But they're always building.
22:12And in the back of their mind, they know if they don't perform,
22:15there's another rotter waiting to get that spot.
22:18So, yeah, Cole Davies has been the top of that mountain.
22:22But they get to ride with them during the week,
22:24and it's starting to pay off.
22:27Yeah, here's Moseman, who has had some moments this year
22:31where he looked like he could win.
22:33Oh, Hymas has caught Davies.
22:35You've got to figure Davies may be riding a little bit conservative for Hymas.
22:38He wants to get the second-ever shot still to win the overall today.
22:42It would certainly help that case.
22:44And he's not giving up on it.
22:46No, he's not.
22:46When I saw Cole take a couple looks back as he does another one,
22:49I knew he's probably going to start dropping back
22:52because Levy only needs 10 points at the moment to get it.
22:56And so he's not going to put up a fight.
22:58Chance is going to get up the inside.
22:59Cole probably take a look over.
23:01Just let Chance go.
23:03He can't help himself.
23:04No, he can't help it.
23:05But there you go.
23:07There it is.
23:07He stood up.
23:09It was like those times you were like,
23:10come on, man.
23:11Can you just make the pass?
23:13Go on.
23:14Get away from me.
23:15Almost battled it out again.
23:18So Hymas has recovered back up to second.
23:20And we could be looking at a Hymas-Bomer battle for today's overall win.
23:26And Davies is going to bring it home.
23:29It's almost going to rub salt in the wound if you leave by Kitchen
23:32because the guys that you need it to be ahead of Cole Davies,
23:35this is that first, fourth place.
23:37If you went out and won, this is where he's at.
23:39This is where you would need it.
23:41And, you know, but at the end of the day, again,
23:44go back and give all credit to Cole for executing when he needs to.
23:48I go back to what happened a few weeks ago at Millville.
23:51That second moto, I know he had the mic troubles,
23:53but ever since that second moto, this guy's been on the podium
23:56and going to even be in a rough day in practice.
24:00The way he recovered and ended up winning that overall,
24:03he is a well-deserving champion if he pulls this thing off.
24:06Well, he just repeated over and over after that bad day at Millville.
24:10I'm not giving up. I'm not giving up.
24:12I'll be back. I'll be back. I'll be back.
24:13And he has absolutely backed it up.
24:151-1 at Washougal.
24:172-1 at Unadilla.
24:19Got the first moto win last week.
24:22So he's won half the motos since that.
24:26And that has helped big time put him in position for this title.
24:30Not going to battle Hymas today, though, JT.
24:32Hymas, he's got business up front.
24:34Yeah, and I don't really think, you know,
24:36Cole Davies is super interested in battling Chance Hymas at the moment,
24:39but let's think about what's going to happen in two weeks' time.
24:42We're going to have the Super Motocross World Championship playoffs kickoff yet again.
24:46And, sure, Cole Davies feels like he's in the driver's seat.
24:48He's likely to come off two championships.
24:51But look out good, these other guys that want to get back in the fight.
24:54You know, we're going to have this reset where Chance Hymas finally back to winning form.
24:59Julian Bonaire, he's out front in this moto running away.
25:02And you know Levi Kitchen's going to have a bounce back.
25:05So, yes, we're going to put this Pro Motocross Championship to bed today.
25:08But the 250 Super Motocross World Championship playoff picture
25:11is looking pretty spicy come Columbus.
25:14I agree with you, JT.
25:16That's the hard part about this class because you've got guys like Chance Hymas
25:20who you know can come out here and win at any moment.
25:23Same thing with Julian Bonaire.
25:24And as Cole is trying to wrap this championship up,
25:27he's almost allowing these guys to become a problem in the future, as JT mentioned.
25:32I do believe Chance will be a problem in the playoff.
25:35Same thing with Julian.
25:36Maybe even his teammate, Landon Gore, who's running great right now.
25:41Oh, you never know in a three-race format for the world title.
25:44We mentioned the playoff bubble just to get in.
25:49And Gordon needs to make up more ground because Adams has moved up to 10th in this race.
25:56So the next rider that Gordon would try to catch for 20th was Nick Romano,
26:01who is out, will not be scoring any points today, not riding due to injury.
26:05So Gordon, I'm going to say it again, he's trying to be put in the points maxing
26:10to try to get himself in the top 20.
26:12If he's not top 20, you have to race the wildcard race,
26:16similar to a last chance qualifier at Supercross.
26:19And you've got to do it every week.
26:20No matter what you do at round one, you're back to the wildcard race at round two.
26:24So Gordon has to hustle here.
26:26Yeah, and that's the crazy part and why it makes it so important for these guys during the season
26:30to get inside that top 20 because let's just say Landon goes out, he qualifies to the LCQ
26:35and wins this opening playoff.
26:37Then he has to do it again.
26:38And let's say we get down to the last one.
26:41Oh, my gosh.
26:41And then he has to go through that and some issues happen.
26:45So it's important for a guy who might be able to be up there,
26:48at least be in the top five overall, try to get inside this top 20 in the final seeding
26:54before you go into playoffs.
26:56Yeah, by the way, I'm not sure if Romano is going to be back for the playoffs,
26:58but even if he isn't, if he's 20th, he's 20th.
27:02They don't move anyone into the motos automatically.
27:05If Gordon's 21st, he's going to be in the wildcard no matter how many of the top 20 show up.
27:12So the young man from California putting his best foot forward,
27:16rode great all day in all the different weather conditions at Bud's Creek,
27:19backing it up today with a fourth.
27:21If he could get 12 more points in the next moto,
27:24he could put himself into the top 20.
27:27Yeah, this ain't like NASCAR.
27:29You don't get to wave around, you know, lap down when the caution comes out.
27:33So you got to earn it.
27:37Speaking of Adams, there he is making the move on Avery Long.
27:42Long was in position.
27:43That would have been a career best.
27:45Adams just got him.
27:46So Adams quick today in qualifying, and now we see the speed in the race.
27:50That's what we've kind of seen throughout Drew.
27:53You know, the biggest thing for him, he's got the speed.
27:56He's got to work on the starts here.
27:58Maybe get out front, and then it'll take an adjustment period to be out there,
28:02and he's opening laps.
28:03But clearly, he has the conditioning, has the speed.
28:05He's got to work on those starts, and I think we'll have Drew inside the top five,
28:09possibly battling with the guys out front.
28:13Well, it's wild to think about.
28:14You go back to SMX Next program for the Amateurs about three years ago.
28:18Adams and Davies were battling all the time, and that didn't seem strange at all.
28:22Adams very heralded in the American Amateur ranks.
28:25Davies coming over from New Zealand.
28:27You know, Adams is saying to himself,
28:28I know I have the talent and the ability that he does.
28:30I just got to get up there.
28:31I mean, I feel like there's Levi's Kitchen Bike.
28:35They're working on it.
28:36But I feel like the top six within the last couple of years,
28:39they've all been in that next program,
28:41and they're all one through six here at the race.
28:43Here's Kitchen's trouble.
28:45This is the early crash.
28:47It's a bad start, and then it goes from 11th to 35th here.
28:51Yeah, this was the first lap because when he came around,
28:53so you notice that was in that shadow part of the racetrack,
28:57in those shadows and the trees.
28:58This was the second and third lap.
29:00But it was insult to injury, and unfortunately for him, he had some bike issues.
29:05He kind of figured at that point, once he went a lap down,
29:07he was going to pull off safety and then knowing you're not going to be able to get points.
29:11But look at this.
29:12What?
29:14Pymus just took two seconds out of Bomair the last lap around.
29:18He was gaining about a second before that, and he's about to jump into the lead.
29:23Yeah, Julian is going to close him off.
29:25Chance is going to have the inside, so let's see what he does.
29:27Get in there.
29:28Get out that rut.
29:29Get out that rut, son.
29:30You better cut him off.
29:31But Julian stays into that, and thanks, Chance, for making me look right.
29:35Because I said earlier, after he went down, I figured he'd come back.
29:38Oh, Bomair not having it.
29:39Gets the wheels back in front of him.
29:41Battle for the lead is on.
29:42Yeah, there's that split lane.
29:43Chance is going to have to get out of this corner.
29:44You're going to see him try to cut him off.
29:46There he goes.
29:47Chance, I miss.
29:49Falls while leading, back to fourth.
29:51Rallies all the way back to number one.
29:53What a difference just a week makes, you know, with this guy.
29:57You can see it in his riding.
29:58And hold on, Chance.
30:00We don't need a chance of falling right here.
30:01But, you know, nonetheless, I think a lot of the last weekend, his season, and really kind of taking his
30:08time to get to this point,
30:10you've got to think that's why he's able to do this.
30:12Because just like this season, when things go rough, you just stay for the fight and continue an adventure, you'll
30:18be back up front.
30:19Well, that's what he's showing here today.
30:21Shout out to him for believing himself and got this lead.
30:24Yeah, he mentioned it, though.
30:25All these years of injuries, and when he came back this year and it wasn't going well at all,
30:29he's struggling to even be top 20 in some of the motos.
30:32He said last week, he had some thoughts.
30:35Maybe I wasn't meant for this.
30:37Maybe it wasn't going to work out.
30:39And I can't imagine the pressure that he must have felt at that point to dig himself out.
30:43No, I mean, it is.
30:44I mean, and you start wondering, man, if I'm good enough, did these injuries finally catch up?
30:49And considering that he hurt his shoulder, which was a new injury, the way he was struggling this year,
30:54it takes a lot for Rodder to mentally get out of it, especially a guy like Chance Hymans who came
30:58into the season
30:59probably hoping to win this title, at least be for a fight.
31:02So for him to fight through that, to me, what you're starting to see is the best version of Chance
31:08because in the past, he's always been fast.
31:10It's almost like Chance, just believe how good you are.
31:13I think this season is kind of allowing him to know he has that grit to get back to the
31:17podium and up to the top.
31:19Not a top grit.
31:20He just put in a 2.13 to get to Bomair.
31:23Bomair at 2.17.
31:25But to be honest, Bomair's lap time is still about better than any other rider on the track.
31:29It's not just Bomair's losing steam.
31:33Heimans is just going that much faster than Bomair and everyone else.
31:36He is.
31:37I mean, they got 19 seconds chance over Cole Davies, and it just feels like only a few laps ago
31:42he was able to make that pass.
31:43So Julian, his run, great.
31:46But, you know, you can feel as a rider, when the guy behind you gets on that roll, it's hard
31:51to stop him.
31:51So good job by both of these two.
31:53Haley.
31:54Yeah, I'm back here at Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
31:57Levi Kitchen is not here under the awning.
31:59He is back speaking with other team personnel as he regroups for Moto2.
32:03But the good news is that Levi Kitchen is okay.
32:05He's up.
32:06He's walking around, communicating with his team.
32:08I don't see any signals that he might hurt or otherwise.
32:11Maybe he's feeling a little bit dejected right now.
32:13We'll circle back to find out more, hopefully, on this number 47 machine.
32:16What's going on with this motorcycle?
32:18Yeah, thanks, Haley.
32:19They've got to go to work.
32:20Obviously, the machine was banged up, tumbling down the hill there.
32:26And hopefully we get him back from Moto2.
32:28I don't know where he's going to be on the emotional focus aspect.
32:34But we certainly hope he is healthy.
32:37I feel like we were watching this last year with Levi at this track where he looked good
32:42and then just something catches him out always here.
32:45He went down.
32:46So, you know, Levi kind of knew it was a long shot.
32:49So, you know, when this champion, he needed some help.
32:51That start obviously didn't help him.
32:53But, you know, hopefully he gets back out.
32:55He's healthy.
32:55He comes out in this next Moto.
32:56And kind of do what he did all year long.
32:59It's always bouncing back.
33:00So, we'll see what's going on.
33:02JT.
33:03Yeah, Jay, just watching Chance Hymus here.
33:05And it's been a revelation.
33:07I don't know a better word for it the last few weeks.
33:09So, I just wonder your opinion.
33:12How much do you put on this him finally kind of believing in himself that he should be winning again
33:17versus the physical side?
33:18You know, is it more a mental unlock that he's gotten over the last few weeks?
33:22Or do you think the physical side has caught up to that?
33:23I think both, you know.
33:25But I've also seen Chance go back a few weeks ago at Millville.
33:29I mean, he was able to win a Moto.
33:30So, he's been physically okay so far.
33:33But I think what you're seeing right now is Chance believing in Chance.
33:38And what he fought through to get back to this point, you're looking at a different router.
33:45I mean, you can see it.
33:466.3 second lead.
33:48Hymus got that Moto win at Millville.
33:50He was very cautious to say, I'm not expecting the 1-1 after this.
33:54I'm still building.
33:55He has four straight podiums coming in.
33:57And now working on two overall wins in a row, potentially.
34:00Let's check in with this Monster Energy Yamaha star racing team.
34:03Davies riding smart in third.
34:06Trying to wrap the title.
34:07Gordon just got past.
34:09He's actually back to fifth now.
34:11I believe Bennett has moved around him.
34:14Brown riding well in sixth.
34:16Muneer seventh.
34:18Moseman tenth.
34:20Dougie having a rough one.
34:21He is in 15th at the moment.
34:23There you see Bennett just ahead of Gordon.
34:26So, Gordon's going to lose a few more points that he wants to try to get into that top 20
34:30for the playoffs.
34:32Yeah, he's doing good.
34:34Daxon's been just consistent this whole race.
34:37Just taking his time, getting up there.
34:39Good for him.
34:40Still a great ride by Landon.
34:42You don't want to lose too many points because you need to gain some more to get inside that top
34:4520.
34:46Shout out to Pierce Brown.
34:47He's right behind him in sixth place.
34:50He's saying he got Muneer and Drew Adams.
34:52And Bommere down from second.
34:55Now they had a big lead over Davies.
35:00So, will he maintain that spot?
35:02Yeah, I think he's still in second here.
35:07See what happens.
35:08That new part of the racetrack in the woods where they made some change.
35:11Tried to slow it down for safety.
35:13That was good there.
35:18It's a weird fall.
35:20It almost looked like he clipped the side of that tree.
35:22He got thrown off balance.
35:23But what you can't see is how deep those ruts are.
35:25So, when you start leaning to the right when the corner goes left, you have these incidents.
35:30And easy to happen.
35:31We saw the same thing happen with Chance Heimus early in the moto.
35:35And Heimus has come all the way back.
35:36Last lap.
35:38Looking for his seventh career moto win.
35:40We mentioned the podium streak after the moto win at Millville.
35:45Heimus going 3-3, 4-2, 2-1 in moto scores.
35:50Now going to add another W to the board.
35:55And we knew going into this series, we didn't know exactly how rough it would be at the beginning.
35:59But when this guy's on, he can beat anybody.
36:03And he's showing it right now.
36:05Checkered flag in sight.
36:06Chance Heimus.
36:08Another moto win.
36:11And here comes Cole Davies.
36:13This will be enough to wrap up the title, the celebration.
36:17That will come after Moto 2.
36:20But Kitchen is out.
36:22And with this finish, Cole Davies is going to lock up two titles in one year.
36:27Cole Davies looking at the future right here.
36:30Cole Davies, congrats him.
36:32Star Racing Yamaha.
36:34I'll go ahead and say it for you, kid.
36:36Happy birthday.
36:38The best birthday present ever at the moment.
36:39Cole Davies is going to wrap up the 2026 250 Pro Motocross Championship.
36:49The 19-year-old from New Zealand, practically unheard of in America about three years ago.
36:56Cole Davies is going to wrap up the 21-year-old from New Zealand.
36:57Cole Davies is going to wrap up the 21-year-old from New Zealand.
36:57Cole Davies is going to wrap up the 21-year-old from New Zealand.
