00:00Aqui tem dois gates para Herlings e Vial, mas esta vez, Romain Fevra
00:06sneaks at the inside, we've got riders down, gifting, out in the outside there,
00:10it looked like in the barriers, but it's Fevra who leads the way,
00:14and he may have grabbed that foxhole shot as well, Geiser there in second,
00:18Herlings, bullish, as he jumps back up into second position,
00:22does not want to give daylight to the five-time champ,
00:26just behind him there on the Yamaha, but as we drop downhill, Fevra, Herlings, Geiser,
00:30Jonas, another good start for him, Vial there, Fernandes alongside him,
00:33we've got Adamo, Renault, DeWolf, Elzinger, Bonacorsi, and Siwa does line up,
00:37he's down there in 13th place.
00:40Yeah, riders caught up in that first corner, yeah, gifting like we said,
00:43also Olsen, Martinssen, a lot of the locals have gone down in the first corner there.
00:47Swedefest in turn one then, but it's Fevra down,
00:53well, I was going to say, Fevra looking to try and lead here on the opening lap,
00:58but very quickly, get Kelt caught there by Jeffrey Herlings,
01:01makes light work of the defending champion,
01:03who's now in danger of being pushed back to third,
01:06as Geiser gets around the outside, he's going to get better drive uphill here,
01:10can't quite find his way through,
01:12and Fevra on the ropes early here at the start of race two,
01:15as Herlings looks to disappear early.
01:18Just turned inside of the Frenchman, what an amazing night,
01:20well, Geiser's not going to pull that pass on Fevra twice in the same day,
01:24so Fevra twice to that one,
01:26but he does not seem to have the pace of the two around him at the moment.
01:29And this is the kind of time of day that we had at the end of the qualifying race yesterday,
01:35sun touched to the right,
01:36so any time they head to the trees to their right,
01:38and there are plenty of corners that turn right, like now,
01:41and then slightly uphill,
01:43where that sun is going to get lower and lower as the race goes on,
01:45visibility is going to be not so much as a premium as it was in the first race,
01:51and certainly this is probably the best it's going to be
01:53before it starts to drop and get even lower late on in the race.
01:57Geiser looking to go down the inside,
01:59these two had a little bit of kept mouse in time practice on Saturday
02:02through this part of the racetrack, even in this corner here,
02:06as Fevra thought Geiser ruined his fast lap,
02:09so the two then started roosting each other,
02:11having a little bit of back and forth,
02:13ended in handbags at sort of 20 paces if you like,
02:17nothing really came of it,
02:18a couple of glancing blows here and there,
02:20but Fevra keen to keep the 243 behind him here,
02:24as Herling's already now 1.6, 1.7 seconds clear.
02:29Jonas under pressure from Fernandes,
02:31Fernandes about to go through here,
02:32yes he does, Fernandes,
02:34he finds his way briefly into fourth,
02:36can he stay there?
02:36Yes he can,
02:37great move there from the third HRC rider on the grid,
02:41but he's ahead of his team mate,
02:42Vielle, who's now in sixth place.
02:44Yeah, the three Hondas got first,
02:45fourth and fifth in the qualifying race yesterday,
02:47so using that pace out of the gate
02:49to maximum effect around this difficult track to pass on,
02:54but of course Ruben managing to find a way past this time,
02:56past Jonas,
02:56and Vielle is next in line.
02:58DeWolf around the outside of Adamo,
03:01maintaining that seventh place at the moment,
03:03tucking down the inside,
03:04he might lose out on the exit here though,
03:06depends if he gets good drive,
03:07he does get good drive,
03:09keeps Italian at bay,
03:10and Siwa after his fall in race one,
03:13deciding that, you know what,
03:14one lap around this brutal circuit is enough,
03:17definitely battered and bruised,
03:18is the Venroy KTM rider,
03:21and he'll just jump in the camper,
03:23head across to Denmark,
03:26and straight back down to Montt in Belgium,
03:28where he's from.
03:32Won't hang around either, I'm sure.
03:34Probably got to walk the dog on the way home as well.
03:38Gifting's been able to recover well,
03:39he's up to 16th place,
03:40past Brumman,
03:41Ostland,
03:41Ben Watson,
03:42and Adam Sterry,
03:43so already Isaac Gifting making progress,
03:45that's what the horns are all about.
03:47As we hit the line at the end of that first official lap,
03:49then here's Jonas,
03:50our Calvin Valandran out of the race,
03:52on the Red Bull KT,
03:54Red Bull Ducati,
03:55and he's been down as well,
03:56that's not a technical issue,
03:58so we've lost,
03:59and he didn't even complete a lap,
04:02did Calvin Valandran,
04:03but as we look here at Paul's Jonas,
04:05under pressure from Tom Vial,
04:07Vial fighting every step of the way here,
04:11these two in 5th and 6th place,
04:13Jonas there in 5th,
04:14takes a look across,
04:14sees Vial there on the number 16,
04:16he stays a little bit lower,
04:18Vial now up in the 5th place,
04:19down into turn 5.
04:22Fantastic launch from Vial,
04:23over that jump there,
04:23whipped it sideways,
04:25invisibly quicker than Jonas over there,
04:27and yeah,
04:27Calvin Valandran didn't even go through the first sector there,
04:30Paul,
04:30so that would explain,
04:31he was obviously down in that first corner pile up as well.
04:34so Vial,
04:35getting his wheels ahead of Jonas,
04:37moves up in the 5th place,
04:38Fernandes' teammate ahead of him now,
04:40as Jonas come under pressure here,
04:42right,
04:43this was the pass again,
04:44but he always had the commanding line at the bottom here,
04:47through this turn 4,
04:47that little kink,
04:48that steps down,
04:50an easy pass in the end for Tom Vial,
04:52I wonder how much,
04:54energy,
04:55how much effort,
04:55race 1,
04:562nd place,
04:57took out of Paul's Jonas,
04:59of course,
04:59still riding himself back to fitness,
05:01after crashing out of,
05:01for Foxhill race 2,
05:03missed Czech Republic,
05:04missed Belgium,
05:07Kai DeWolf here,
05:09trying to get up the inside of the Latvian,
05:10no way through there,
05:12but he does find his way through here,
05:13Jonas read it well,
05:14and in the end,
05:15DeWolf goes through,
05:16he now moves up in the 6th place,
05:17on the 74,
05:18and Jonas just lost traction,
05:19on the launch of that jump face,
05:21so yeah,
05:22that gave Kai,
05:23a nice easy ticket to ride,
05:24past him,
05:24no problem,
05:29Ruben Fernandez,
05:30on the number 17,
05:32Vial has already found his way,
05:33past his team mate,
05:34because Fernandez,
05:36was further up the track,
05:38so all of a sudden,
05:39Vial up to 4th,
05:40Fernandez down to 5th,
05:42the 74 of DeWolf,
05:44is up to 6th,
05:45and Jonas now,
05:46down to 7th place,
05:48Adamo 8,
05:481.29,
05:49Renault 10,
05:50well yeah,
05:50Fernandez,
05:512.5 seconds slower,
05:52in section 3,
05:53so possibly a mistake,
05:54not sure if our cameras,
05:54picked it up,
05:55maybe the drone,
05:55but yeah,
05:57either way,
05:57Fernandez losing ground,
05:58instantly to his team mate,
05:59it's still picked,
06:00Honda HRC Patronus,
06:014th and 5th,
06:02with DeWolf,
06:02hassling Fernandez,
06:04in front of us now,
06:05kind of Wolf,
06:06looking up for the fight here,
06:07he needs to be,
06:08because obviously,
06:09he's got his home Grand Prix,
06:10one weekend from now,
06:11tweaked them,
06:11or no tweaked them,
06:12he'll want to go there,
06:13holding himself,
06:14very accountable,
06:15goes in and out early,
06:17looks to get past,
06:18or certainly at the very least,
06:19alongside Ruben Fernandez,
06:21and he will dip out,
06:22of the turn early here,
06:23again,
06:23can't quite get alongside,
06:25the Spaniard,
06:26waits for him to commit,
06:27before he decides what he does,
06:29Kai DeWolf,
06:30up in a turn 8 here,
06:34drops down,
06:35into turn 9,
06:36he goes to the inside,
06:37goes for the juggler immediately,
06:38lights at the back end,
06:39has to pull in the clutch,
06:40back off the gas,
06:41just to get things stood up,
06:43and that allows Fernandez,
06:44to hang on to that 5th place,
06:46for now,
06:49that inside line that Fernandez uses,
06:51it drifts out to the outside,
06:53on the exit,
06:53very shiny,
06:54very loose,
06:54very rocky,
06:55not a lot of traction,
06:56through that part of the racetrack,
06:58this late in the day,
06:59some news out,
07:00for some Belgium fans there,
07:01Brent van Donenck,
07:02on Fantec Factory Racing,
07:03another victim of the first corner,
07:05looks like,
07:05he didn't go through,
07:06the first sector either,
07:07so Brent out,
07:08and Calvin out,
07:09we will see,
07:10we will see a replay of the start as well,
07:11when things settle down,
07:12we'll also get to see,
07:13what happened,
07:14to Calvin Ballandran,
07:15on that Red Bull Ducati,
07:17and why he,
07:17or his crew,
07:19were pushing his bike back,
07:19just a few moments ago,
07:21but DeWolf,
07:22looking,
07:23menacing here,
07:24as he goes in pursuit,
07:25of Ruben Fernandez,
07:26Fernandez,
07:26no easy rider to pass,
07:28whether he's on a factory bike,
07:29or not,
07:30and it's just making work,
07:31very difficult for the 74,
07:33of Kai DeWolf,
07:35he'll switch to the outside here,
07:37at the end of the straight,
07:38doesn't want to follow,
07:39the Spaniard through here,
07:41again it might open up,
07:42a different opportunity,
07:42here through turn one,
07:44but gets in and out of there early,
07:46lights at the back end,
07:47very,
07:50aggressive through that first turn,
07:51and he has to be here as well,
07:52but almost in danger,
07:54of losing a few spokes there,
07:55at the front wheel,
07:58see the,
07:58intensity here,
07:59with both these guys,
08:00Fernandez trying to keep,
08:01the Dutchman behind him,
08:03and the 74,
08:03trying to find his way,
08:04past the number 70,
08:05at the same time,
08:07again he was aggressive,
08:08through here,
08:09wasn't he a lap ago,
08:09but he'll go to the outside,
08:12gifting has gone down,
08:13as well,
08:15runs into the back of Panza,
08:17chucks it away,
08:18that is in turn 15,
08:19and then gets an elbow,
08:21from Kevin Brumman,
08:23as he just very,
08:25sort of nonchalantly,
08:27sort of walk back,
08:28as if to say,
08:29oh,
08:29Panza,
08:30and then gifting,
08:31going down,
08:32as he gets nudged,
08:34by Brumman,
08:35on the way through,
08:36that was a little bit,
08:37like somebody being run over,
08:38and then blaming the car,
08:39the way he walked back,
08:39in front of Kevin there,
08:40but yeah,
08:41you can't blame him,
08:41it was Brumman's fault,
08:42it was Brumman's fault,
08:45Hans Meyer,
08:46looking on,
08:50there's a DeWolf here,
08:53still trying desperately,
08:54to find his way past,
08:56Fernandez,
08:57thought he got close,
08:58a few corners ago,
08:59but Fernandez being very stubborn,
09:03desperate to hang on,
09:04to that fifth position,
09:07yeah,
09:07strange one,
09:08Ruben Fernandez ran here,
09:09the sort of hard pack track,
09:09where you'd expect him to excel,
09:11yet his best GP,
09:12out of five races here,
09:13only sixth place,
09:14so yeah,
09:15Fernandez,
09:16a bit of a strange one,
09:17that was last year,
09:17when he was fourth,
09:18and eighth in the races,
09:19it's taken you four laps,
09:20to come up with your first stat,
09:21I'm impressed Ben,
09:22I don't want to battle you,
09:23okay,
09:26four laps complete,
09:27Hurlings,
09:28nearly three seconds clear,
09:29of Febvre,
09:29Geiser,
09:30a couple of seconds,
09:31further back,
09:32Vial,
09:32another four and a half,
09:33behind,
09:34in that fourth place,
09:35but this battle here,
09:36with Ruben Fernandez,
09:38and Kai DeWolf,
09:39kind of got us,
09:40on the edge of our seats,
09:41at the moment,
09:41because you've got,
09:41a frustrated Dutchman,
09:43the tall,
09:44lanky Dutchman there,
09:45number 74,
09:46just taking a bit of a breather,
09:47just to go and go,
09:48you know what,
09:49I've tried,
09:50on several attempts,
09:51several occasions,
09:52hasn't quite worked,
09:53take a breather,
09:54sometimes just to reset,
09:56fresh pair of eyes,
09:57you go back,
09:57you come back,
09:58you attack,
09:59and it becomes a little bit more fluid,
10:01maybe that is the solution here,
10:03with Kai DeWolf,
10:04and you can see very quickly,
10:06that gap that he has,
10:07sort of pulled back,
10:09maybe as a result of that,
10:11just sort of sitting back,
10:11rather than being right on top,
10:12of the action,
10:13and not really seeing those gaps,
10:14where you can make those,
10:16make those passes,
10:17make those moves stick,
10:18yeah it's also got to get out,
10:19of the roost of course as well,
10:20lots of flints,
10:21lots of rocks,
10:22they fly up at you,
10:22and they are painful,
10:23coming off the back of a 450 for sure,
10:31and they are not going to be right on top of the road,
10:36DeWolf sent in an opportunity,
10:38to get good drive out of here,
10:40that's exactly what it does,
10:42gets the drive,
10:43as Fernandez spun up,
10:44but we know how ruthless Fernandez can be,
10:47hits the brakes late,
10:48runs that mid-turn corner speed,
10:51keeps DeWolf to the outside,
10:52still no way through,
10:54for the 74,
10:55on the Nastana Varno,
10:56plus Varno,
10:57really was on the outside as well,
10:59clipping the track marker post,
11:00as he landed,
11:00gets short on that jump as well,
11:02gets a right mess through there,
11:03but yeah luckily able to salvage it,
11:05good balancing from the Dutchman,
11:07that was tactical,
11:09I can't believe that,
11:11cuts back to the inside,
11:13yeah he didn't want to go in,
11:14through that turn with him,
11:15you know he said well if I just jump up short,
11:16he can offer a different kind of combination,
11:18didn't quite work though,
11:20still tactical,
11:22yeah right,
11:24keep pressing,
11:27that's the idea,
11:28but yeah Riven is a tough nut,
11:30crack around here,
11:31makes himself very wide,
11:32the Spaniard,
11:36take a look at the start,
11:37and maybe we get to see as well,
11:38what happened to Valandran,
11:41we know that Isaac Gifting,
11:42he ended up having a word,
11:44there he is in the blue and white,
11:45Gifting he gets pushed wide,
11:46oh and that was Valandran,
11:49oh he went down hard,
11:51Gifting ended up in the banners,
11:52but watch the 10 here,
11:54does he get clipped,
11:56oh yeah him and Gifting come together,
11:58right in front of Van Donen as well,
11:59so that's what happened to the Belgian,
12:01yeah that was Van Donen going down as well,
12:04and wow Valandran just taking a big hit there,
12:09and looks like that was a big one for the number 10,
12:13hopefully he's okay,
12:14and hopefully he's only sort of just rang the bell a little bit there,
12:18which is why he was slow to sort of pick himself up,
12:20but of course the team picking his bike back up,
12:23and taking it back to the pallet,
12:24so 3.38,
12:26Philip Olsen the other rider involved in that,
12:27and he has retired,
12:28and Jeremy Siwa also retired in a separate incident,
12:30yeah but I think Siwa was more beat up just from the separate incident,
12:34because of that crash in race one,
12:35and did a lap didn't he,
12:36got through that first lap in around about 13th, 14th place,
12:39but called time early,
12:40Tom Vial with the foxhole shot,
12:43of course that's two black plates for the Honda HRC Petronas team this week,
12:47because in fact it was Adamo in race one wasn't it,
12:51on the Rebel KTM,
12:52because it was very close between him,
12:53Hurlings and Vial,
12:57and Vial picking up his eighth black plate of the season,
13:01goes to the top I believe,
13:02breaks the tie with Lucas,
13:04and looking on the course for a podium at the moment,
13:07the Frenchman,
13:07because of the moment it's Hurlings on 50 points,
13:09Romain and Fevre on 40,
13:11Vial on 38 ahead of Jonas on 35,
13:1469 black plates now,
13:15since he's joined MX2 and MXGP Tom Vial,
13:19so can he make it 70 a week from now,
13:22well the number 84,
13:23Geoffrey Hurlings,
13:24bagging another fastest lap of the race,
13:26so far race one was at 1.49,
13:29so at the moment,
13:30the Cherby's fastest lap for MXGP,
13:32is going to come in at race one,
13:33it was Geoffrey Hurlings on the final lap,
13:34of the first race,
13:36even putting two purple sectors,
13:37sectors two and three,
13:38en route to doing so as well,
13:40so in terms of that little competition,
13:44in terms of the Cherby's black plates,
13:48Lucas,
13:48sorry,
13:49the Cherby's fastest laps for Geoffrey Hurlings,
13:51only five now of the season,
13:53Lucas Coonan seven,
13:54and he's been missing in action,
13:55the last few rounds,
13:57I mean that final lap from Hurlings,
13:59was like knocking the hammer into the coffin,
14:01while it's already underground,
14:02just punishing the opposition,
14:04while they're already down,
14:05so quite an incredible show of pace,
14:07from the bullet,
14:08Roman Fevre here,
14:091.9,
14:09let's call it two seconds,
14:11ahead of Tim Geiser,
14:13Fevre about 3.6 seconds,
14:15behind Geoffrey Hurlings,
14:18podium as it stands right now,
14:19is going to be Geoffrey Hurlings,
14:20going 1-1,
14:21for the 85th time in his career,
14:23as a double race winner,
14:25MX2 and MXGP,
14:27Roman Fevre is going to be second overall,
14:29with a 4-2,
14:29Tom Vial is going to be third,
14:31with a third and a fourth,
14:33and Tom Vial,
14:35back on the podium,
14:36again because second overall,
14:38in Czech Republic,
14:39he was fourth in Lomel at Flanders,
14:42so two podiums,
14:43and three rounds,
14:44for the Frenchman,
14:46and Roman Fevre,
14:47unfortunate not to finish on the podium,
14:49for a fifth consecutive time,
14:50a week ago,
14:51but it will be five from six rounds,
14:53for the number one defending champion,
14:56and would be going to a full year,
14:57since he won a Grand Prix,
14:58which was of course here,
14:59he went 1-1-1 last year Roman,
15:01so yeah it's getting quite,
15:03he's running out of time,
15:04to get that race win,
15:05with a number one player,
15:06of course never done it,
15:07didn't wear number one,
15:09as defending champion in 2016,
15:11so yeah something that,
15:12it's not quite going to happen,
15:13if you feel at the moment,
15:15unless Roman suddenly turns up the wick,
15:16in one of the last four GPs.
15:18Yeah Tim Geiser,
15:19of course kicking himself,
15:20after his mistake in race one,
15:21dumped him from fifth down to ninth,
15:22and there was no real comeback,
15:23from that ninth place finish,
15:25but he's not going to be finishing,
15:26on the podium here this weekend,
15:28because he's on 32 points,
15:30at the moment,
15:31three behind Pauls Jonas,
15:32on 35,
15:32Vial is on that third step,
15:34of the podium on 38,
15:35Andrea Adamo,
15:36he's going to look in at seventh overall,
15:38on the Red Bull KTM,
15:39here this weekend,
15:41never featured on the podium,
15:42in MX2,
15:42and oh in fact he did didn't he,
15:45but obviously here in MXGP,
15:49in his rookie season,
15:50his debut season,
15:51the number 80,
15:52going to have to be content,
15:53with quite a few steps away,
15:54from that podium,
15:56sort of party if you like.
15:58Yeah not a great score,
16:00this for Adamo at the moment,
16:01in seventh place,
16:02he'd be losing ground,
16:03in fact Ruben Fernandes,
16:04would equal him,
16:05in their battle for fifth,
16:06in the championship,
16:07they would finish,
16:08on a 483 points each,
16:10if it stays like this,
16:12so Adamo,
16:13yeah all the good work,
16:13he put together in race one,
16:15going awry,
16:16oh slide out there,
16:16for Jorgen Matthias Talvik,
16:18on the fancy factory,
16:19right MHGP machine,
16:20as he was battling,
16:21the 517 there of,
16:23of gifting,
16:24so gifting inherits,
16:25a position 16th,
16:26Talvik getting passed down,
16:27into 17th place,
16:28and Talvik getting passed,
16:31there as well by Brumont,
16:32is it or Watson,
16:33Watson,
16:34so Watson gaining,
16:35a position there as well,
16:39so gifting 16th,
16:40Watson up to 17th,
16:41Talvik down at 18th,
16:44not easy to come in,
16:45late in the championship,
16:47Jorgen Matthias Talvik,
16:48in a factory team as well,
16:50obviously a kid's dream,
16:52to line up as a factory rider,
16:54but you get the call,
16:55at round 14,
16:56at Lommel,
16:57not the easiest place,
16:58to make your factory debut,
17:00but he is a bit of a sand rider,
17:02he's only doing a few wild cards,
17:03in the last few years,
17:04and he's tended to choose,
17:05the sandy runs to ride,
17:06the ones like Lommel,
17:07Arnhem,
17:07he's ridden there a few times,
17:08but yeah,
17:09standing in,
17:09of course,
17:10for Alberto Forato,
17:11who's had a recurring shoulder injury,
17:13and we're not sure,
17:14if we're going to see Alberto,
17:15back for the rest of the season,
17:16so Jorgen Matthias,
17:18at the moment,
17:18standing in,
17:19and of course,
17:20the last remaining Fantic,
17:21as Brent Van Donenck,
17:22exited stage right,
17:23on that first corner there,
17:25I was talking to,
17:26Jantel Martins actually,
17:27from Fantic,
17:28and he said that,
17:30he may,
17:31make an appearance,
17:32later on in the season,
17:33might not be next week,
17:35but certainly,
17:35the plan is to try,
17:36and get him back for Turkey,
17:37if possible,
17:38and ride out,
17:39the last three rounds,
17:40so,
17:41whether that is,
17:42true to form or not,
17:43we'll have to,
17:45wait to see,
17:45but,
17:46anyway,
17:46that would be encouraging,
17:47if that was to be the case,
17:49what is encouraging,
17:50is Paul Jonas' performance,
17:52here this weekend,
17:53fourth overall,
17:54for the Latvian,
17:55if he stays where he is,
17:56of course,
17:57and PJ,
17:58who started the weekend,
17:59tenth overall,
18:00was fifth overall in Latvia,
18:01so this will be a season's best,
18:03for the number 41,
18:05which is pretty good going,
18:07yeah,
18:07absolutely impressive,
18:08lots of question marks,
18:10about the whole team,
18:11in particular,
18:11of course,
18:12knowing that Roman Febvre,
18:13is going to be riding,
18:13one of these bikes,
18:14of course,
18:15the Red Bull Ducati,
18:16next year,
18:17so who is going to replace him,
18:19if Paul Jonas is going to stay put,
18:21are they just going to run,
18:22one 4.50 with two 2.50s,
18:24we know,
18:25their MX2 lineup is sorted,
18:26but here's Maxim Renaud,
18:28and he is actually losing ground,
18:30at the moment,
18:30losing a position,
18:31in the championship,
18:32Tom Vial would overtake him,
18:33as it stands,
18:34he would jump up to seventh,
18:35in the series,
18:36ahead of Renaud in eighth,
18:37so,
18:38not going the right way,
18:39for Maxim this season,
18:40it's been a strange one,
18:41yeah,
18:42but obviously,
18:43it was well documented,
18:45from his side,
18:46about his health,
18:46issues,
18:47never really sort of said,
18:48what they are,
18:48but there was a post,
18:50on social media,
18:51live lately,
18:52where he was laying,
18:52on the floor,
18:53in the team gym,
18:54with a sort of,
18:55a bit of an oxygen mask,
18:56on and things like that,
18:57so obviously,
18:57doing his best to recover,
18:59and you know,
19:00complete the rest of the season,
19:01in whatever state he is,
19:03but you know,
19:04just grinning and bearing it,
19:05and you know,
19:06showing up,
19:07because that's how he is,
19:08even when he had a broken hand,
19:09last year in,
19:10you know,
19:12in Kosar,
19:13and he did everything he could,
19:15great to see Rick Elzinger here,
19:1611th place,
19:17for the Ben Roy KTM rider,
19:19and once again,
19:20the lone KTM Ben Roy rider,
19:22because obviously,
19:22C were disappearing,
19:24after the first lap,
19:25just decided to retire,
19:26from the race,
19:27but the number four of Elzinger,
19:2913th overall,
19:30in South Africa,
19:31and he's going to be,
19:3211th overall,
19:33here this weekend,
19:34as he gets to grips,
19:35with the second half,
19:36of the season,
19:36of course he missed,
19:37quite a few rounds,
19:38didn't he,
19:38early on,
19:40didn't really score,
19:41he missed the first two,
19:42didn't score,
19:42in the next three,
19:43and then no points,
19:44or didn't even show up in France,
19:45but since then,
19:46just hovering around,
19:47that sort of top 20 area,
19:49didn't even start,
19:50in Lommel,
19:51a couple of weekends ago,
19:52and a top three race finisher,
19:54around this place,
19:54in MX2,
19:55of course don't forget,
19:55this is still his first year,
19:57in MXGP,
19:58the four European champion,
19:59and DeWolf's been down,
20:01so DeWolf,
20:03despite the effort sent,
20:06he was just battling,
20:08with Fernandes,
20:09wasn't he,
20:09he wasn't ahead of him,
20:11don't think he found his way by,
20:12no he wasn't,
20:12he was three tenths behind,
20:14at the last split,
20:15and at the moment,
20:16the data hasn't corrected,
20:17Fernandes has gone through,
20:18sector three now,
20:19here we are,
20:20just folds the front,
20:21then the back comes around,
20:23on him,
20:23very similar to what happened yesterday,
20:25on a different part of the racetrack,
20:27picks himself up though,
20:28doesn't lose the position,
20:29maintains that sixth place,
20:33still not doing badly,
20:34for a man with zero thumbs,
20:35I think,
20:36one bad one,
20:36from early in the year,
20:37then wrenched another one,
20:38in the week in practice,
20:39since Lommel,
20:40so yeah,
20:41tricky season again,
20:42in his rookie,
20:44MSGP season,
20:44for Kyder Wolf,
20:46yeah,
20:46Kyder Wolf,
20:47of course,
20:48no stranger to the podium here,
20:50you've got a second in,
20:51uh,
20:5320,
20:5325,
20:55just as you look down,
20:56at your notes there,
20:57poor Kyder Wolf,
20:58putting a fantastic whip,
20:59over that finish line jump,
21:00so he's clearly out,
21:01out for a bit of fun at least,
21:02trying to get back onto the floor,
21:03as quickly as possible,
21:04get the power down,
21:05of course,
21:05there is function,
21:06in their fun,
21:07but yeah,
21:07it certainly looked,
21:08a fantastic shot,
21:09just hoping that one of the guys,
21:10got it on the cameras,
21:11greasy takeoff,
21:12that's all that was,
21:13could well be,
21:14yeah,
21:14it could be more,
21:15more by mistake,
21:16than by intent,
21:17yeah,
21:18now he can,
21:19he can throw a few whips down,
21:21he can serve pancakes for breakfast,
21:23for the fans,
21:23if he needs to as well,
21:25one of the most flamboyant riders,
21:28one of the most stylishly,
21:29gifted riders,
21:30on the paddock,
21:31as well,
21:31on the grid,
21:32as well,
21:33is the number 74,
21:34Kyder Wolf,
21:35but as I say,
21:36jumps for show,
21:37corners for dough,
21:37and all the rest of it,
21:42Kyder Wolf here,
21:43in sixth place,
21:44out on his own then,
21:45because Adamo,
21:46is another four seconds,
21:47further back,
21:48sun just starting to drop now,
21:49right into the eyes,
21:50as they head back this way,
21:51into those left hand turns,
21:54and as you get out,
21:55of these right handers,
21:56and head up these short,
21:57little inclines,
22:00kind of felt,
22:01when I raced,
22:02in these kind of conditions,
22:04a clear lens,
22:05for this late stage of the day,
22:06was probably best,
22:07it just gives you,
22:07that little bit of clarity,
22:08more so than a smoke lens,
22:10or a dark lens,
22:11which kind of puts everything,
22:12into a bit more silhouette,
22:14the only way,
22:15that you can sort of try that,
22:16take a pair of sunglasses,
22:17for instance,
22:18look towards the,
22:19the sort of sunny parts of the track,
22:20look through them,
22:21and then sort of take the glasses away,
22:22and you'll see the clarity,
22:24how it's supposed to be seen,
22:26yes,
22:27you've also got the visor,
22:28on your helmet as well,
22:29that can help with that,
22:30but when you're trying to see,
22:31through a darker lens,
22:32sometimes it just causes,
22:33a little bit of problems,
22:34in these kind of conditions,
22:35late on in the afternoon,
22:36it was the first thing,
22:37that Jeffrey complained about,
22:38when he went across the line yesterday,
22:39of course he looked to his paddock,
22:40and just sort of,
22:42waved his hand in front of his face,
22:43clearly indicating,
22:44that you couldn't see very well,
22:45so yeah,
22:46I'm not sure if,
22:46there's been adjustment,
22:48to the goggles,
22:48or even an extender peek,
22:49on that bell helmet of his,
22:51but yeah,
22:51either way,
22:52Herlings just about doing enough,
22:53for a moment,
22:54five seconds clear,
22:55of Fever,
22:56who's four seconds clear,
22:57of Geiser,
22:58front of the order,
22:59pretty spaced out,
23:00but it's the nature,
23:01of this circuit sometimes,
23:03yeah,
23:03Jeffrey Herlings,
23:04wins here this weekend,
23:05that'll be four Dutch victories,
23:06over the years,
23:08they will tie with Germany,
23:09who also have four,
23:11they're equal fourth,
23:13in the all-time wins list,
23:15Belgium with 13 wins,
23:16Italy with seven,
23:17France seven,
23:17Germany four,
23:19of course Netherlands,
23:19will join them as well,
23:20as four-time winners,
23:21in and around here,
23:23Jeffrey just two of those wins though,
23:24over the years,
23:26yeah,
23:26this would be his first,
23:27in this class,
23:28the record holders here,
23:29of course five a piece,
23:30four,
23:31no six a piece isn't it,
23:32for Antonio Calroli,
23:33and Stefan Eberts,
23:35Joel Smets also won three,
23:37and Joel was actually,
23:38in action this weekend,
23:39just while we're,
23:40looking at the bullet there,
23:41just mentioning the,
23:42whole shot contest,
23:43that happened on Friday night,
23:44organized by,
23:45Patrick Erlandsen,
23:47the JWR Honda team manager,
23:48although Patrick paid,
23:49the price for it,
23:50because he got caught,
23:50by a flying cable,
23:51that actually has broken,
23:53two bones in his leg,
23:54so get well soon Patrick,
23:56I hope you heal it well,
23:56you got a plaster cast on,
23:58operation on Monday,
23:59but apart from that,
24:00everybody else had a great night,
24:04Kevin Haugmo,
24:06there in 12th place,
24:08who he was,
24:09he's just gone around,
24:10the outside of Elzinger,
24:11to take over,
24:11that 11th position,
24:13so Elzinger,
24:14just getting pushed back,
24:15there by the number 24,
24:16the four there,
24:17on the Venroy KTM,
24:18all in white,
24:20it's been a quiet,
24:21it's been a quiet,
24:22sort of campaign this year,
24:23for the number 24,
24:24Kevin Haugmo,
24:24on that Honda Motor Blues,
24:25SR motor machine,
24:27has been spending,
24:29more time,
24:29up in the Northern Hemisphere,
24:30riding at home,
24:31in Norway,
24:32obviously with the,
24:33temperatures in Southern France,
24:34where he's normally,
24:35been riding and training,
24:36all throughout the season,
24:37of course with his,
24:39injured teammate,
24:40of course,
24:40Thibaut Beniston,
24:41but their coach,
24:42Yves Demaria,
24:43obviously made the decision,
24:44to move up here,
24:45just because they're,
24:46easier to ride on tracks,
24:47and things like that,
24:48throughout the summer,
24:48compared to,
24:49those hotter climates,
24:50down south.
24:52Scrapping going on here,
24:53we've got Iago Hirtz,
24:54and Kevin Brumman,
24:55duking it out,
24:56for 15th place,
24:57at the moment,
24:58looks like the Swiss riders,
24:58actually passed the Belgian,
25:00so good showing there,
25:01from the privateer,
25:02on the MX Handel Husqvarna.
25:04Yeah, Iago Hirtz,
25:05on that MRT Racing Team Beta,
25:08number 93,
25:09came so close,
25:10to become an MX2 World Champion,
25:13just the stars,
25:13didn't align for him,
25:15he's had a tough go of it,
25:16in MXGP,
25:17the last couple of years,
25:17since he moved up,
25:18to the Premier Class,
25:1924 over before it began,
25:2125 was kind of,
25:22a rebuilding year,
25:23he was on our MXGP studio show,
25:24on Saturday,
25:25here on site,
25:26just talking a little bit,
25:27about that,
25:28and his year,
25:29on the Beta,
25:30and how he's getting,
25:31a little bit more comfortable,
25:32he got his best overall finish,
25:33last time,
25:34or in Czech Republic,
25:35didn't he,
25:357th overall,
25:37a couple of weekends,
25:38a couple of rounds ago,
25:40tells you how tough it is,
25:41because this is actually,
25:42his first race,
25:43in this class,
25:43at Unavala,
25:44so yeah,
25:45he's missed it,
25:45the last two years,
25:46with massively injury,
25:47affected seasons,
25:48Pauls Jonas,
25:49Kawasaki Racing Team,
25:51under pressure,
25:52in that 8th place,
25:53from Andrea Bonacorsi,
25:54Bonacorsi,
25:55sneaks beautifully,
25:56up the inside,
25:57on that Red Bull Ducati,
25:58and they're telling,
25:59on the 132,
25:59now up into 8th place,
26:01good bit of riding,
26:02that from Bonacorsi,
26:03very nice,
26:04Jonas coming back,
26:05for more though,
26:06but has to kind of,
26:07park that red mist,
26:08for now,
26:09I think,
26:10does the number 41,
26:14back from the quality race,
26:15for Andrea Bonacorsi,
26:16very nice result,
26:17on Horcmo's not had enough,
26:19he's come to play,
26:19with Maxime now,
26:21yeah,
26:21good late charges,
26:22from the number 24,
26:23Kevin Horcmo,
26:24obviously,
26:24quite a few,
26:25Norwegian fans in the house,
26:26just making,
26:27the short trip across,
26:28I think it's only about,
26:29three hours from his home,
26:30here is Kevin Horcmo,
26:32so very much,
26:33a home Grand Prix,
26:34or as close to a home Grand Prix,
26:35that he will get,
26:36on that Honda Motor Blues SR machine,
26:38motor machine,
26:39the number 24,
26:40and here he is,
26:42looking for a top 10,
26:43Maxime now there,
26:44at the moment,
26:44on that Monster Energy Yamaha,
26:47Kevin Horcmo,
26:48in terms of his,
26:48top 10 race finishes,
26:49he got an 8th,
26:50in Switzerland race one,
26:51he got a couple of 9ths,
26:52another couple of 8ths,
26:53even got a 9th,
26:54and an 8th overall,
26:55in Great Britain,
26:56so,
26:58two consistent rides there,
27:00for him,
27:01on the number 24,
27:02giving him one of his best results,
27:03he's been four times 8th,
27:04one of those was in Great Britain,
27:05so,
27:07he's got the extender peak,
27:08on that one as well,
27:09Kevin Horcmo,
27:10and looks to make a move,
27:11on Renault,
27:11almost there,
27:12he's actually took,
27:13his only ever qualifying race win,
27:15here,
27:15that was in MX2,
27:17that was back in 2023,
27:20on the FNH,
27:21Kiyosaki was there,
27:22yep,
27:24just parks himself,
27:24momentarily,
27:25to the outside,
27:26as he lets Maxime Renault,
27:28off the hook,
27:29ever so slightly,
27:31Gifting in 14th,
27:32so,
27:32despite him going down,
27:33at the first turn,
27:34which also took out,
27:35a couple of other riders,
27:36one of those being,
27:37the number 10er,
27:37Calvin Valandran,
27:39as we were focusing,
27:40on the Fox hole shot line,
27:41our eyes were drawn,
27:42towards inside,
27:43saw,
27:44last minute,
27:45that move to the outside,
27:46of Isaac Gifting,
27:47but didn't really see,
27:47the Valandran crash,
27:48as we were looking elsewhere,
27:50but,
27:51Jan Pantzer,
27:52closing in,
27:53on Rick Helsinger,
27:54now,
27:56this for 12th place,
27:58so Jan Pantzer,
27:59probably expected more,
28:00as he's a bit more,
28:01of a hard pack specialist,
28:03but not an easy place,
28:04to come to,
28:04talking to Brian Jorgensen,
28:06in the MX2,
28:07second race,
28:08during the comms,
28:09he was saying,
28:10the same thing,
28:11not easy here,
28:12so much going on,
28:14Pantzer looking to,
28:15run it down the inside,
28:15of the Dutchman,
28:18unsuccessful,
28:19that time around,
28:23a 7th last year,
28:24Jan Pantzer,
28:25not been outside,
28:25the top 10,
28:26in his last four visits,
28:27so this is a rough day,
28:28for the Slovenian there,
28:30he was 13th,
28:31in race one,
28:32and yeah,
28:33I was looking at,
28:33that position at the moment,
28:34unless he can,
28:35get past the Dutchman here,
28:37yeah,
28:37a good bit of,
28:38sort of stubborn,
28:40riding this,
28:41from the number four,
28:41of Rick Helsinger,
28:42because,
28:42obviously doesn't want to,
28:44lose too many positions,
28:45he'll look up,
28:46he'll see,
28:461.22 on the clock,
28:48as he hits the finish line,
28:49there,
28:49plus he'll know,
28:50that there's another,
28:51couple of laps,
28:51and he'll know his lap times,
28:52in around about the one,
28:53sort of 52,
28:543's,
28:5454's,
28:55owns,
28:57maybe even 55's,
28:58actually for Helsinger,
28:59yep,
29:01but what about,
29:02Geoffrey Hurling,
29:02doing just enough,
29:03to stay ahead,
29:04of Roman Fevre,
29:055.4 seconds clear,
29:06on the Honda HRC,
29:07Petronus machine,
29:09and he's eyeing up,
29:10his 171st,
29:11career podium,
29:13Tony Cairoli,
29:14has the record,
29:15of 179,
29:17so Hurling's,
29:18breaking all the records,
29:19at the moment,
29:20a mistake there,
29:21for,
29:23Renault,
29:25and Haugmo,
29:26going through,
29:27just coming out,
29:27of that turn,
29:29Haugmo,
29:30now up into,
29:3110th place,
29:37Renault,
29:38coming back,
29:38for more though,
29:39obviously annoyed,
29:40himself,
29:40for making,
29:40that little mistake,
29:43but it looked like,
29:44Kevin Haugmo,
29:45just having the pace,
29:46in the second half,
29:46of this race,
29:47got his head down,
29:48he's not flustered,
29:49by what's going on,
29:50behind him here,
29:51tell you what,
29:51that landing there,
29:52so shiny,
29:53and there's a couple,
29:53of deep tram lines,
29:55it almost looks like,
29:56you've had tractor lines,
29:57going through there,
29:58like really big gouges,
29:59big ruts,
30:00you get the wrong side,
30:01of one of those,
30:01front end first,
30:02you know about it,
30:03and I tell you what,
30:04you get the back side,
30:05the back rail,
30:06the wrong side,
30:06of the landing zone there,
30:07you know about it,
30:07there was a little bit,
30:08of tweakage,
30:09there at the rear end,
30:10and I'm not just talking,
30:11about the rear wheel,
30:12for Kevin Haugmo,
30:14heart would have been,
30:15in his mouth,
30:21just manages,
30:22to hang on,
30:22to that 10th place though,
30:27good battle,
30:28between these two though,
30:29you know Renault,
30:30is going to come out,
30:30fighting,
30:31firing on all cylinders,
30:33and again,
30:33tries to run it,
30:34up the inside,
30:35almost catches the heel,
30:36of the left foot,
30:37of Haugmo,
30:37who goes defensive here,
30:39Renault's going to go,
30:40the long way around,
30:40he's going to go outside,
30:41try and come back,
30:42to the inside,
30:42and if it doesn't work here,
30:44he'll hold a tighter line,
30:45but look how cute,
30:46Haugmo is,
30:46he knows he's not going to fall,
30:48for the oldest trick in the book,
30:50sends Renault,
30:50around the outside,
30:52not just in turn one,
30:53but also turn two,
30:54but the Frenchman,
30:55if he can get out,
30:56of here early,
30:58chooses not to,
30:59steps up to the inside,
31:00will he take the line away,
31:01yes he does,
31:01beautifully done,
31:02but he runs out of,
31:03track on the exit,
31:06Haugmo responds,
31:07and for now,
31:07Haugmo still in that 10th place,
31:09best battle of the race,
31:10this one,
31:11fantastic scrap going on here,
31:12cuts back to the inside,
31:13a lap after he,
31:14lost a position,
31:15in that very corner,
31:16Renault regains that 10th place,
31:19tries to outsmart,
31:21the Norwegian,
31:23and he's got work to do,
31:24here at the bottom,
31:24of the hill as well,
31:25turn seven,
31:27oh he doesn't need this,
31:28pushing the heart rate,
31:29through the roof,
31:30Haugmo,
31:30nobody can tell us,
31:31he can't pass on this,
31:32we've just seen five,
31:33between two riders,
31:34in the last half a lap,
31:35fantastic rally,
31:36between these two,
31:36and that's a lap rider,
31:38Haugmo,
31:38tell you what,
31:39Renault,
31:39almost doing a Geisse,
31:40on the same part,
31:41of the racetrack,
31:42Geisse falling there,
31:43in race one,
31:44Renault,
31:45lighting up the back end,
31:47and suffering,
31:47a similar fate almost,
31:49oh he's fighting now,
31:50isn't he,
31:51doesn't get the drive,
31:51spins up the rear end,
31:53Haugmo will cut back,
31:54to the inside here,
31:55try and drift it,
31:55through the middle,
31:56of the corner,
31:57can't quite find,
31:58a way through,
31:59and we've got,
32:00medical flags here,
32:01just the other side,
32:01of Monster Energy Mountain,
32:02so wheels,
32:03on the ground,
32:04rider down,
32:05oh it's Kevin Brumman,
32:06I think,
32:06that's the MX Handler,
32:07Husvana,
32:08there's two bikes down,
32:12is it Geisse,
32:13Brumman and Geisse,
32:14they were battling,
32:15so Iago Geisse,
32:15is one of them,
32:16there he is look,
32:18feeling a little bit,
32:19second hand,
32:19it's just basically,
32:20grimacing saying,
32:21yeah I'm okay,
32:22but just need,
32:23a little bit of time,
32:26and this is why,
32:28two riders come together,
32:29oh I tell you what,
32:31Geisse landing,
32:31on his head,
32:33and the other rider there,
32:34was Brumman wasn't it,
32:36yeah,
32:36and Brumman goes down,
32:38that's an ugly crash,
32:39and we've got a red flag,
32:40situation here,
32:41so with two laps to go,
32:43that race has gone full distance,
32:45and we should,
32:46get a result there,
32:47of course our thoughts,
32:48first of all,
32:48with Iago Geisse,
32:49and Kevin Brumman,
32:50Brumman going down,
32:51getting the worst,
32:52end of the short end,
32:53of the stick there,
32:54in that 20th place,
32:56he looked like,
32:57he just landed square,
32:58on the shoulders,
32:59of Geisse,
32:59that line just coming together,
33:01as they came out,
33:02of that turn,
33:03and he's being seen to,
33:05by the medics,
33:06so an abrupt end,
33:08then with two to go,
33:09in MXGP race two,
33:11which means,
33:11that Jeffrey Herlings,
33:12is going to go,
33:121-1 here,
33:13for the 85th time,
33:14in his career,
33:15and it will be,
33:16podium number 171,
33:18for the bullet,
33:2135,
33:211-1s,
33:22in MXGP alone,
33:24coming into this weekend,
33:25that's now going to be,
33:2536,
33:2784,
33:28as we said,
33:29as a 1-1 finisher,
33:30in his career,
33:32and it will be,
33:3360 MXGP wins now,
33:34one shy,
33:35of his MX2 record,
33:37of 61,
33:39121 total,
33:40that is some total,
33:41but,
33:42yeah,
33:43we've seen that line,
33:43converge a few times today,
33:45a few near misses,
33:46over the weekend,
33:46in all classes,
33:48so,
33:48yeah,
33:48it's such a shame,
33:49to see the two riders,
33:50go down at the end there,
33:51having good scraps as well,
33:52Brumman and Gifting,
33:53but,
33:54sorry,
33:54Brumman here,
33:54it lifts Gifting.
