00:00Look, I think obviously we're all overreacting to all of what went down yesterday.
00:04I mean, I was showing, Ken, look at this, look at this throw from Mendoza.
00:09Look at it, he's throwing over the middle.
00:10They said all he could do is throw those back shoulders.
00:13No, he's throwing the ball over the middle.
00:15He's dissecting the zones.
00:16He's doing this, he's doing that.
00:17We're having some fun with it because it's finally we get some football
00:20and we get some quarterbacks that we've all argued with.
00:23Anthony Richardson, you know, I had gotten the text already like,
00:27your boy already threw an interception and I went and watched it
00:31and it was, you know, maybe not a great decision, but it got deflected
00:34and it was picked off and he also turned the ball over on a fumble.
00:37But I'm like, the funny thing is us talking about all these other quarterbacks,
00:42that doesn't mean that they're all my boy.
00:44Like, you know, it soars me, that's your boy.
00:46I'm like, I never said the guy was good.
00:48I was just like, if you're the Browns, you have to look into all of this.
00:52Well, that's just asinine then because you can't just sit there and say
00:55you should take the guy, which you wanted them to put a bid in on him
00:58and you don't even know he's good.
01:00That's ridiculous.
01:01Can you do a little bit of homework?
01:02No, no, hold on, hold on.
01:03If the people in the NFL are saying the guy could have a first round.
01:08I want to know what Anthony Lima has to say about him.
01:11A first round talent and he has a first round grade that if he came out
01:15and you have a chance to get him in the third round,
01:17I'm just saying that's a value proposition.
01:20That's a value proposition.
01:21Do we have a current?
01:22But still, a wasted pick is a wasted pick.
01:24If you thought he was good, then damn, say it with your chance.
01:27We wasted a pick on Joe Royer.
01:28What does that matter?
01:32Coming in hot's at 945.
01:34You know what?
01:34I'm actually not going to entertain even that at 945.
01:37Waste picks all the time.
01:38That is not.
01:39Did we waste two quarterback picks the year before with Dylan Gabriel and Shador?
01:43You're not doing your job, though.
01:45That's not it.
01:46Are the Browns doing their jobs?
01:48That was my whole point.
01:49Do you understand what I'm saying in there to him?
01:51Do you get what I'm saying?
01:52People on the phone have got to understand what I'm saying to him, right?
01:55You can't just sit there and keep giving me.
01:57See, this is why I get mad and you guys all call me the biggest sissy who ever lived.
02:00Because I look at these guys and I take copious notes on this the year before they even start.
02:06And then I got, well, it hasn't worked before, so we might as well go ahead and try.
02:09I mean, what are you saying?
02:11You take copious notes and then never want a quarterback.
02:14You never want any of them.
02:15You talk yourself off every single quarterback.
02:17Because I am afraid of taking a lot of quarterbacks.
02:19I've admitted it many times.
02:21And now we have Shador versus Deshaun Watson, and the NFL's laughing at our quarterback competition right now.
02:25That's what you get.
02:29I didn't want to take Deshaun Watson.
02:30I did.
02:31Duck Hunt 2026.
02:33Do you have the sound?
02:34We already have one.
02:36We already have one Nintendo game in there.
02:40I don't, but I will shortly.
02:42I believe we have lost Owen for the rest of the show.
02:45You are going to get, you better be careful.
02:47Because if they're threatening it, well, I'd like to see them threat the Air Force veteran.
02:51You go right on ahead.
02:51That ain't going to get you anywhere.
02:53Oh, boy.
02:57Okay.
02:58But I'm not going to overcorrect and just throw caution to the wind and just say, well, it hasn't worked
03:03out with anybody else, so we might as well just go after this guy.
03:06That's what I don't like about what you give me in your arguments.
03:10That's what I hate.
03:11Give me a reason why you like a guy, other than our quarterback situation sucks.
03:15I know our quarterback situation has sucked, but you're giving me answers that aren't making it any better.
03:20That's why I rolled my eyes as hard as I can yesterday when Jeff Phelps has given us, what, Will
03:25Levis and Anthony Richardson?
03:27And I'm looking at it going, what the hell is this?
03:29I never liked Will Levis.
03:30And then I had to sit there, and I'm in the bathroom, and I'm just thinking while I'm hearing it,
03:35I'm washing my hands going,
03:37is it really going to make that big a damn difference between Deshaun Watson and Shador Sanders, Kenny?
03:42So you can't go rip it on Jeff now, can you?
03:44I just don't think I'm going to give up one single pick for any of those guys.
03:52I want your opinion, not just the path of least resistance of the Browns haven't done this, that, and the
03:59other,
03:59so we might as well go after this guy.
04:00That's my issue.
04:02Maybe it is that simple.
04:03I don't know.
04:04Maybe it is.
04:05Maybe I've made way too much of it.
04:06Maybe I've worked too damn hard, Tone.
04:09Play the damn Zach Jackson.
04:13God, I hate you dearly.
04:18God, do I hate you.
04:19This thing is going straight to hell.
04:22I want to get us back on track.
04:25We will.
04:25You won't let us get back on track.
04:27As soon as we do the deep dive.
04:28And then we do this from Zach Jackson.
04:31Fine, fine.
04:31All camp long, he's been throwing balls that aren't spirals.
04:33And they hang up.
04:34They don't look good.
04:35Now, a lot of them do get where they're supposed to go.
04:37But it's noticeable that a guy competing for an NFL starting quarterback job is not throwing spirals.
04:42It's noticeable because it's happening on a large, large percentage of the throws.
04:46And again, a lot of them are getting there.
04:47So I don't know what's going on.
04:48I know apparently there was a blister issue.
04:51And Shador was asked that in his Wednesday press conference.
04:53He said he had a blister issue early in camp.
04:55He said it's cleared up.
04:56He's still throwing ducks every single day.
04:58I love when people say, well, Peyton Manning didn't always throw spirals.
05:01But he got it there.
05:02Peyton Manning and Shador Sanders have one thing in common.
05:04They both lived in Colorado for a couple years.
05:08Audio courtesy of Zach Jackson and friends.
05:11Zach has definitely talked about the spirals or lack thereof.
05:18Social media reactions on X are brought to you by...
05:21Jive and Jewelers, Cleveland's Premier Jewelry Store.
05:30Carver said to Zach, let's see your fat ass throw a spiral deep downfield on target every time.
05:35Oh, no, you just write about it.
05:44You want to get in the spiral talk?
05:46Get into the spiral talk.
05:47Fine.
05:47I don't know where you want to take it, but you wanted it.
05:49You got it.
05:50No, there is a question to be had because we had Chris Muller on yesterday.
05:53The only thing they have in common is say, look at the Colorado.
05:58Chris Muller said that the Shador Sanders touchdown throw against the Steelers last year at the stadium to Fannin
06:06was the worst touchdown throw he had ever seen.
06:09And the pushback was it got there.
06:11Yeah.
06:12And it was a touchdown.
06:13And the winds were swirling.
06:14Eggers can't beat choosers.
06:16Choosers.
06:18You've got to stop.
06:21I'm picturing the dog going and getting the ball.
06:23You got it.
06:28Now, if we were to compare this to Dylan Gabriel's ball, which is a horse of a different color, really,
06:33if you think about it.
06:41Get it all out, because once we draft CJ Carr next year, these all go away.
06:46I'm going to go get the RC Pro-Am sound from that.
06:49We're going all in.
06:55We really do.
06:57Oh, that one drifted.
06:59That one drifted out of bounds.
07:00We do need.
07:02This is where.
07:03Do we still do the coming in hotline?
07:05Oh, yeah, man.
07:06We need every Browns quarterback compared to an NES video game.
07:11Go to the Odyssey app right now.
07:13It looks like a microphone on a button.
07:15Click on it.
07:16That's the coming in hotline.
07:17Owen will put the sound together.
07:19Every Browns quarterback that you can remember.
07:22Oh, my gosh.
07:23I got nothing better to do.
07:24We've been doing the same Browns talk for a month now.
07:27Give me something to do.
07:28This was always the way this was going to go.
07:32You weren't going to suppress Owen's skills.
07:34No one sat there and thought that we were going to be playing sound from Duck Hunt when it was
07:41this.
07:42No one thought that that was going to happen.
07:47That dog.
07:48I love that damn dog.
07:53All right.
07:54Can I get back on track now?
07:55Sure.
07:56All right.
07:56Hell's frozen over.
07:57I agree with Sarah Ono on something.
07:59That's at 922 this morning.
08:00Also, Nathan Zagura going to join us at 9.
08:02So, I'm going to get to the schedule thing coming up at 840.
08:05There's only one argument for Deshaun Watson.
08:08Sad thing is, it's the only argument that counts.
08:11Todd Munkin's job is to do what?
08:15Todd Munkin's job is to do what?
08:17Turn around the Browns.
08:18Win football games.
08:19There you go.
08:20It's the only argument that he has, and it's the only one that counts.
08:23Because Zach said it in that pod.
08:26Guys, we get a list of audio every day.
08:30Things from the station.
08:32Things from the show yesterday.
08:33And I'm telling you, to a person, it is, yeah, you should play Shador Sanders.
08:39Yeah, you should play, I mean, all these ones.
08:42Leroy Hort, former Cleveland Brown.
08:44If you need one yard, he'll get you three.
08:46If you need five, he'll get you three.
08:48Leroy Hort's words, not mine.
08:50Leroy Hort said it.
08:53Steve Smith Sr., he doesn't think a tie should go to Shador, but he also believes that Shador probably should
08:59be the starter.
09:01There's a lot of people here, former players, media members, former coaches, who are looking at a big picture, Shador,
09:11Shador, Shador.
09:12That's what's frustrating to the Shador fans that are getting in, is you can't find something, like, yeah, if it
09:18were my decision, and I'm not, my job's not on the line, I would absolutely start Shador.
09:23If it's close, I want to start Shador, for a multitude of reasons that are also emotional with Browns fans.
09:30But there's one argument that you can make for Watson, if he is more likely to help you win, if
09:37he helps you win better than what, or if he's more apt to help you win than what Shador Sanders
09:43is, then yeah, you pick it out.
09:48Don't say that one on the air.
09:49All I'm saying, all I'm saying, Kenny, as much as everybody wants to boo Deshaun Watson, have him look terrible,
09:56get him out of our lives forever, which we thought he was already out of our life.
09:59And here he is, competing for the starting job.
10:02I'm just saying, if he looks good in the preseason, you will think very positively, maybe not about the situation
10:10right now, but you'll be thinking positively about Fannin, about Concepcion, about Boston.
10:16You'll be thinking better about the offensive line, and you will be so excited about the future of this team
10:22with the head coach and what he can orchestrate offensively.
10:25Dan Orlovsky says, you know, it doesn't make any sense to play Deshaun Watson.
10:31Yeah, it doesn't.
10:33You're thinking from a big point of view, you want to see whether or not a guy is part of
10:37the future, and more than likely, he isn't.
10:40And that's why they did what they did.
10:42But you want to see it.
10:43And, you know, for the people who, I asked this question earlier today, do you really want Deshaun Watson to
10:49do well tomorrow?
10:50It's okay if you really feel you don't.
10:53There were so many people who got in on social media.
10:55Now, the calls, the calls wanted him to do well.
10:59They're Browns fans.
11:00They don't like, and all the calls were saying, I don't like the guy.
11:03I just, he's starting.
11:04I want him to do well.
11:06Okay.
11:07But there were plenty of people who get it.
11:08Nope.
11:09Don't want him.
11:09Don't like it.
11:11Well, that's, that's fair.
11:14And I don't want to take anything away from that because it's been a bad four years.
11:19It's been really, really bad.
11:21And you may get into arguments with people over the other guy, but the other guy is still more fun
11:25to talk about than Deshaun Watson.
11:27It's all a bunch of never happened.
11:29I can't even do the ifs and buts because it never even really existed.
11:33The only time we ever had fun and got out of Browns prison with Deshaun Watson here is when Joe
11:38Flacco was playing quarterback.
11:40It's the only time.
11:43Shador Sanders, yeah, I know.
11:46You believe his fan base is annoying.
11:49Lima is quite taken in by them.
11:52There's so many things that you might, you might not like his dad.
11:55You might like the practice policy that they have for the media out of Colorado now, which is weird.
12:01There's a lot of things that you might not.
12:03It still doesn't even touch all the arguments that we've had for Deshaun Watson because you didn't trade away a
12:10guy that was pretty well liked even.
12:12Well, he was not really liked at the time by a lot of folks, but who in all in all
12:17was pretty well liked.
12:18You traded away a guy who was pretty well liked for Deshaun Watson.
12:21He was never good.
12:23It was never.
12:24It was it was bad out of the box.
12:25I could go on and on and on.
12:27And for all I know, I might.
12:30So if you don't want him to do well, I can meet you halfway and understand where you're at because
12:37I don't think you want your time wasted either.
12:40Of all the nasty things you could say, it's still what matters most is your time as a sports fan.
12:46And if you feel you're going to have your time wasted, I sympathize with that.
12:50I feel the same way.
12:52That's why I want Shador Sanders to start.
12:54It may still be a waste of quote-unquote time, but at least it's something that I can see for
12:59the future and then I can just go on and take my quarterback in the future.
13:03This is just a reminder of a lost generation of Browns.
13:06This is just a reminder of where Joel Batonio, if they would have, like if you keep Baker Mayfield, think
13:12about this.
13:13If you keep that guy, I think we're having a lot of the same arguments that the Bills are having.
13:17Josh Allen's a higher level quarterback, but we're having a lot of the same arguments.
13:20I think we're having a lot of the same arguments.
13:22A better argument to make is what the Chargers are going through with Justin Herbert.
13:25You know, are you or aren't you?
13:27That type of thing.
13:28And I think we'd probably be having that still way better than this.
13:31And if you would have done that, Joel Batonio has a better chance at the Hall of Fame.
13:35Denzel Ward has a better chance at the Hall of Fame when it's all said and done.
13:38Can't guarantee it, but you're playing at a higher level than what you are now.
13:41Because this, this has cost guys.
13:44You know, Deshaun Watson's career in Cleveland has cost legacies.
13:48Has got guys fired.
13:51Has, has, has cost guys chances to go to the playoffs, which has cost guys more money,
13:55which has cost guys their legacy in so many ways, like I just said.
13:59So there is something more than just the fans not liking him.
14:04There's something more than that.
14:06And he reminds me of all those bad things.
14:08All that pointed out.
14:10He's still playing quarterback for the Browns and I got to think big picture.
14:13And I also don't think he's going to go back to any sort of form that what he was,
14:17which the Browns thought that they were getting.
14:19So if I don't think that he's going to do that, he can still prove the offensive line is better,
14:23which is a very scary thing that none of us have really talked about here.
14:26You know, we all assume that it's going to be better because it could barely get any worse.
14:29And Spencer Fano looks like he could be a very good football player for a long time.
14:33But he's only one of five.
14:34We went through that with Joe freaking Thomas in so many ways.
14:37There were other guys that were good across that offensive line,
14:39but there were a couple of years where there weren't.
14:41And I have to make sure that the offensive line is better.
14:46Deshaun Watson can reflect that.
14:48I have to make sure the wide receiver core is better.
14:50Deshaun Watson might be able to reflect that.
14:52And I want Todd Munkin to be better than what we fired.
14:56So he can reflect that tone.
14:59Well, I think that's just what I'm getting at.
15:01The better things look, if it looks fluid, if I know it's in camp,
15:06if you're looking, by the way, if you're paying attention to any camps around the NFL,
15:09they even said Lamar Jackson.
15:11They're trying to figure out the cadence with Lamar Jackson and getting guys lined up.
15:15New coach, right?
15:18So, you know, I did have Shador people all over that story.
15:21It's like, see, it's not just a Shador thing.
15:23No, I didn't say it was.
15:24I think that's something for every quarterback who's in a new system.
15:28You have to figure that stuff out.
15:30It's just that Shador hasn't been in the NFL that long.
15:31So there could be a more of an uphill, a longer road before, you know,
15:38you can figure all that stuff out.
15:39But this stuff is not really supposed to look all that seamless at this stage.
15:43Once we get out there closer to the regular season, well, yeah,
15:46stuff is supposed to get better.
15:48And I think that's what I'm looking at, that if Watson, if things are clean,
15:53then I'm already starting to feel better, not necessarily about Watson.
15:55I'm feeling better about what the offense could be capable of with this head coach.
16:01Listen, we might get to a point, and there's plenty of tankers out there
16:04who argue with me every day about the value of tanking.
16:07And I'm not just talking about our buddy TA or anything like that.
16:10I'm being honest here.
16:11There's plenty of people who think that I'm foolhardy to ever want them to win
16:14so we can find it.
16:16I always think if you're playing for next year or the year after that,
16:19you consistently do that and you end up losing,
16:21you end up getting fired in real life because you're always worried about the year after.
16:24Look at what Sasha Brown did.
16:25Look what got him can.
16:28Because as Lima said, any idiot can tear down a football team.
16:31It takes real skill to actually build one up.
16:33He didn't get the chance because we're all focused on next year.
16:36Well, we're going to find someone we trust better to build for next year.
16:38Bye-bye.
16:41I don't think I'm ever going to trust him.
16:43We could get to the Super Bowl this year, which is not realistic.
16:46We could get to the Super Bowl this year, and I still think I'd franchise tag him.
16:50I still might even draft a quarterback in the first round,
16:52even though we'd be picking 31st or 32nd.
16:55So I'd probably have to move up and give away assets if something like that is.
16:58But if you were a Super Bowl team with Deshaun Watson, maybe I'd be willing to do that.
17:01I mean, that's how much I distrust him.
17:05That's how much.
17:06But there is still a benefit.
17:09And you wanted Kevin Stefanski fired.
17:11He got fired.
17:12We brought in Todd Munkin.
17:14I know it wasn't the overwhelmingly popular choice, but he is a good guy.
17:18Seems like a really good football coach so far.
17:20We'll see how it goes when they actually start playing football games that matter.
17:24But you wanted him.
17:25You got him.
17:25And you want that guy to do well.
17:27And if Deshaun Watson was that more bund for that many years and then ends up getting resurrected
17:34to some level, it makes me feel better about Todd Munkin.
17:38I can have my cake and eat it, too.
17:39I don't trust Deshaun Watson, but I can certainly feel better about Todd Munkin and go,
17:43OK, now go out and get us a real quarterback, and I'm going to feel better with Todd Munkin
17:47with that real quarterback.
