00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 27
04:59The Lord delivers and vindicates me.
05:02I fear no one.
05:04The Lord protects my life.
05:06I am afraid of no one.
05:09When evil men attack me to devour my flesh,
05:13when my adversaries and enemies attack me, they stumble and fall.
05:18Even when an army is deployed against me, I do not fear.
05:23Even when war is imminent, I remain confident.
05:28I have asked the Lord for one thing.
05:30This is what I desire.
05:32I want to live in the Lord's house all the days of my life,
05:36so that I can gaze at the splendour of the Lord and contemplate in his temple.
05:43He will surely give me shelter in the day of danger.
05:46He will hide me in his home.
05:49He will place me on an inaccessible, rocky summit.
05:53Now I will triumph over my enemies who surround me.
05:56I will offer sacrifices in his dwelling place and shout for joy.
06:01I will sing praises to the Lord.
06:05Hear me, O Lord, when I cry out.
06:08Have mercy on me and answer me.
06:12My heart tells me to pray to you.
06:15And I do pray to you, O Lord.
06:18Do not reject me.
06:20Do not push your servant away in anger.
06:23You are my deliverer.
06:25Do not forsaken or abandon me, O God, who vindicates me.
06:31Even if my father and mother abandoned me, the Lord would take me in.
06:37Teach me how you want me to live, O Lord.
06:40Lead me along a level path because of those who wait to ambush me.
06:45Do not turn me over to my enemies.
06:48For false witnesses who want to destroy me testify against me.
06:54Where would I be if I did not believe I could experience the Lord's favour in the land of the
07:01living?
07:03Rely on the Lord.
07:05Be strong and confident.
07:07Rely on the Lord.
07:09Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
07:13As it was in the beginning, now and ever shall be, world without end.
07:20Amen.
07:23Psalm 28
07:26To you, O Lord, I cry out.
07:28My protector, do not ignore me.
07:31If you do not respond to me, I will join those who are descending into the grave.
07:37Hear my plea for mercy when I cry out to you for help.
07:41When I lift my hands toward your holy temple.
07:46Do not drag me away with evil men, with those who behave wickedly.
07:51Who talk in such a friendly to their neighbours, while they plan to harm them.
07:58Pay them back for their evil deeds.
08:01Pay them back for what they do.
08:02Punish them.
08:04For they do not understand the Lord's actions.
08:07Or the way he carries out justice.
08:10The Lord will permanently demolish them.
08:14The Lord deserves praise.
08:16For he has heard my plea for mercy.
08:20The Lord strengthens and protects me.
08:23I trust in him with all my heart.
08:25I am rescued and my heart is full of joy.
08:29I will sing to him in gratitude.
08:32The Lord strengthens his people.
08:35He protects and delivers his chosen king.
08:39Deliver your people.
08:40Empower the nation that belongs to you.
08:43Care for them like a shepherd.
08:46And carry them in your arms at all times.
08:49Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
08:53As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
08:57World without end.
09:00Amen.
09:03Psalm 29
09:06Acknowledge the Lord, you heavenly beings.
09:09Acknowledge the Lord's majesty and power.
09:13Acknowledge the majesty of the Lord's reputation.
09:16Worship the Lord in holy attire.
09:19The Lord's shout is heard over the water.
09:23The majestic God thunders.
09:25The Lord appears over the surging water.
09:28The Lord's shout is powerful.
09:31The Lord's shout is majestic.
09:33The Lord's shout breaks the cedars.
09:36The Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
09:40He makes Lebanon skip like a calf.
09:42And Syrian like a young ox.
09:45The Lord's shout strikes with flaming fire.
09:49The Lord's shout wakes the wilderness.
09:52The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
09:56The Lord's shout bends the large trees and strips the leaves from the forest.
10:01Everyone in his temple says,
10:04Majestic.
10:06The Lord sits enthroned over the engulfing waters.
10:10The Lord sits enthroned as the eternal king.
10:13The Lord gives his people strength.
10:17The Lord grants his people security.
10:21Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
10:25As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
10:29World without end.
10:31Amen.
10:39The book of Ecclesiastes, chapter 6.
10:44There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is hard on men.
10:51A man to whom God gives money, wealth and honour, so that he has all his desires,
10:57but God does not give him the power to have any joy of it, and a strange man takes it.
11:04This is to no purpose and an evil disease.
11:09If a man has one hundred children, and his life is long, so that the days of his years are
11:14great in number,
11:16but his soul takes no pleasure in good, and he is not honoured at his death.
11:23I say that a birth before its time is better than he.
11:28In wind it came, and to the dark it will go, and with the dark will its name be covered.
11:37Yes, it saw not the sun, and it had no knowledge.
11:41It is better with this than with the other.
11:46Though he goes on living a thousand years twice over, and does not see good,
11:52are not the two going to the same place?
11:56All the work of a man is for his mouth, and still he has a desire for food.
12:03What have the wise more than the foolish, and what has the poor man by walking wisely before the living?
12:10What the eyes see is better than the wandering of a desire.
12:15This is to no purpose and desire for wind.
12:20That which has been named before, and of what man is, there is knowledge.
12:26He has no power against one stronger than he.
12:30There are words without number for increasing what is to no purpose.
12:35But what is man profited by them?
12:39Who is able to say what is good for man in life for all the days of his foolish life,
12:45which he goes through like a shade?
12:49Who will say what is to be after him under the sun?
12:54This is the word of the Lord.
12:57Thanks be to God.
13:17Thanks be to God.
13:19Rejoice in God my Saviour, because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
13:27For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
13:32because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
13:38From generation to generation, he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:45He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:48He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:54He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:00He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
14:07He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy, as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his
14:17descendants forever.
14:20Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
14:27is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
14:31Amen.
14:39The Gospel according to Saint Matthew, chapter 19.
14:45Certain Pharisees came to Jesus, to test him, saying,
14:50Is it right for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
14:54He said in answer,
14:56Have you not seen in the writings, that he who made them at the first made them male and female,
15:02and said,
15:03For this cause will a man go away from his father and mother, and be joined to his wife,
15:08And the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one.
15:15Then let not that which has been joined by God be parted by man.
15:22They said to him,
15:23Why then did Moses give orders that a husband might give her a statement in writing, and be free from
15:30her?
15:33Jesus replied,
15:35Moses, because of your hard hearts, let you put away your wives.
15:40But it has not been so from the first.
15:43I say to you,
15:44Whoever puts away his wife for any cause other than the loss of her virtue, and takes another, is a
15:51false husband.
15:52And he who takes her as his wife when she is put away, is no true husband to her.
16:01The disciples said to him,
16:04If this is the position of a man in relation to his wife, it is better never to be married.
16:11But Jesus replied to them,
16:16Not all men are able to take in this saying, but only those to whom it is given.
16:22For there are men who from birth were without sex,
16:25And there were some who were made so by men,
16:28And there are others who have made themselves so for the kingdom of heaven.
16:33He who is able to take it, let him take it.
16:38Then some people took little children to him,
16:42So that he might put his hands on them in blessing.
16:46The disciples said sharp words to them, but Jesus said,
16:50Let the little ones come to me, do not keep them away,
16:54For of such is the kingdom of heaven.
16:57And he placed his hands on them, and went on his way.
17:02One came to him and said,
17:04Master, what good thing have I to do, that I may have eternal life?
17:11Jesus said to him,
17:12Why do you question me about what is good?
17:18One there is, who is good.
17:20But if you have a desire to go into life,
17:23Keep the rules of the law.
17:27The man replied,
17:28But which law?
17:30Jesus said,
17:31Do not put yourself to death.
17:33Do not be untrue in married life.
17:35Do not take what is not yours.
17:38Do not give false witnesses.
17:40Honor your father and mother.
17:42And have love for your neighbour as yourself.
17:47Then the young man said,
17:49All these things I have done.
17:51But what more is there?
17:55Jesus said to him,
17:57If you have a desire to be complete,
17:59Go,
18:00Get money for your property,
18:02And give it to the poor.
18:04You will have wealth in heaven,
18:06And come after me.
18:09But hearing these words,
18:11The young man went away in sorrow,
18:13For he had much property.
18:16Jesus said to his disciples,
18:18Truly I say to you,
18:20It is hard for a man with much money
18:23To go into the kingdom of heaven.
18:26Again I say to you,
18:28It is simpler for a camel to go through a needle's eye
18:31Than for a man with much money
18:34To go into the kingdom of heaven.
18:38The disciples hearing this were greatly surprised
18:41And said,
18:42Who then may have salvation?
18:45Jesus looked at them and said,
18:48With men this is not possible.
18:50But with God all things are possible.
18:54This is the word of the Lord.
18:57Thanks be to God.
19:09Now according to your word,
19:12Sovereign Lord,
19:13Permit your servant to depart in peace.
19:16For my eyes have seen your salvation
19:19That you have prepared
19:21In the presence of all peoples
19:24A light for revelation to the Gentiles
19:27And for glory to your people Israel.
19:32Glory be to the Father,
19:34And to the Son,
19:34And to the Holy Spirit,
19:37As it was in the beginning,
19:38Is now,
19:39And ever shall be,
19:41World without end.
19:43Amen.
19:48I believe in God the Father Almighty,
19:51Maker of heaven and earth,
19:53And in Jesus Christ,
19:55His only Son, our Lord,
19:57Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
20:00Born of the Virgin Mary,
20:02Suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
20:05Was crucified,
20:07Dead, and buried,
20:09He descended into hell.
20:11On the third day,
20:12He rose again from the dead.
20:15He ascended into heaven,
20:17And is sitting at the right hand of God,
20:19The Father Almighty.
20:22From there,
20:23He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
20:26I believe in the Holy Spirit,
20:29I believe in the Holy Spirit,
20:29The Holy Catholic Church,
20:31The communion of saints,
20:32The forgiveness of sins,
20:34The resurrection of the body,
20:37And the life everlasting.
20:39Amen.
20:45The Lord be with you,
20:48And with your spirit.
20:52Let us pray.
20:55Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:59Christ, have mercy upon us.
21:03Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:10Our Father,
21:11Who is in heaven,
21:13Holy is your name.
21:16May your kingdom come.
21:18May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
21:23Give us this day our daily bread.
21:25Forgive us our trespasses,
21:28As we forgive those who trespass against us.
21:32Lead us not into temptation,
21:34But deliver us from evil.
21:38For yours is the kingdom,
21:40The power and the glory,
21:42For ever and ever.
21:45Amen.
21:50O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
21:53And grant us your salvation.
21:58Protect and guide those in authority over us,
22:03And mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
22:09Endue your ministers with righteousness,
22:12And make your chosen people joyful.
22:17O Lord, save your people,
22:21And bless your inheritance.
22:26Give peace in our time, O Lord,
22:30Because there is none other who fights for us,
22:32But only you, O God.
22:36O God, make clean our hearts within us,
22:41And take not your Holy Spirit from us.
22:52Let us pray.
22:55Grant to us, Lord, we beseech you,
22:58The Spirit to think and do always
23:01Such things as we write,
23:04That we who cannot do anything that is good without you,
23:08May by you be enabled to live according to your will.
23:13Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
23:15Amen.
23:24O God,
23:25From whom all holy desires,
23:28All good counsels,
23:30And all just works proceed,
23:32Give to your servants that peace
23:35Which the world cannot give,
23:37That our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
23:42And also that, by you,
23:44We, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
23:48May pass our time in rest and quietness.
23:51Through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
23:56Amen.
24:01Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
24:04And by your great mercy defend us all
24:07From perils and dangers of this night.
24:11For the love of your only Son,
24:13Our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
24:16Amen.
24:20Almighty God,
24:21Who has given us grace at this time with one accord,
24:25To make our common supplications to you,
24:28And promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
24:33You will grant their requests.
24:37Fulfill now, O Lord,
24:39The desires and petitions of your servants,
24:42As may be most beneficial for them,
24:46Granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
24:50And in the world to come,
24:52Life everlasting.
24:54Amen.
24:57With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
25:00And the love of God,
25:01And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
25:04Be with us all,
25:05Evermore.
25:07Amen.
