00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 114
05:00When Israel left Egypt, when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind,
05:06Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his kingdom.
05:11The sea looked and fled.
05:13The Jordan River turned back.
05:16The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
05:22Why do you flee, O sea?
05:25Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?
05:28Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills?
05:35Tremble, O earth, before the Lord, before the God of Jacob,
05:39who turned a rock into a pool of water,
05:42a hard rock into springs of water.
05:47Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
05:51As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
05:55world without end.
05:56Amen.
06:01Psalm 115
06:04Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
06:06but in your name bring honour,
06:08for the sake of your loyal love and faithfulness.
06:13Why should the nations say,
06:15Where is their God?
06:17Our God is in heaven.
06:19He does whatever he pleases.
06:23Their idols are made of silver and gold.
06:26They are man-made.
06:28They have mouths, but cannot speak.
06:31Eyes, but cannot see.
06:34Ears, but cannot hear.
06:36Noses, but cannot smell.
06:39Hands, but cannot touch feet, but cannot walk.
06:43They cannot even clear their throats.
06:46Those who make them will end up like them,
06:49as will everyone who trusts in them.
06:52O Israel, trust in the Lord.
06:55He is their deliverer and protector.
06:58O family of Aaron, trust in the Lord.
07:01He is their deliverer and protector.
07:05You loyal followers of the Lord,
07:08trust in the Lord.
07:10He is their deliverer and protector.
07:14The Lord takes notice of us.
07:17He will bless.
07:18He will bless the family of Israel.
07:20He will bless the family of Aaron.
07:23He will bless his loyal followers,
07:26both young and old.
07:28May he increase your numbers,
07:31yours and your children's.
07:34May you be blessed by the Lord,
07:36the creator of heaven and earth.
07:40The heavens belong to the Lord,
07:42but the earth he has given to mankind.
07:46The dead do not praise the Lord,
07:48nor do any of those who descend into the silence of death.
07:54But we shall praise the Lord,
07:56praise the Lord now and for evermore.
07:58Praise the Lord.
08:00Glory be to the Father,
08:02and to the Son,
08:03and to the Holy Spirit,
08:05as it was in the beginning,
08:06is now,
08:07and ever shall be,
08:09world without end.
08:11Amen.
08:19The book of Proverbs,
08:20chapter 13.
08:23A wise son accepts his father's discipline,
08:27but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
08:31From the fruit of his speech,
08:32a person eats good things,
08:34but the faithless desire the fruit of violence.
08:39The one who guards his words,
08:42guards his life,
08:43but whoever is talkative will come to ruin.
08:48The appetite of the sluggard
08:50craves but gets nothing,
08:53but the desire of the diligence
08:55will be abundantly satisfied.
08:59The righteous person hates anything false,
09:02but the wicked person acts in shameful disgrace.
09:09Righteousness guards the one
09:10who lives with integrity,
09:12but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
09:17There is one who pretends to be rich
09:19and yet has nothing.
09:21Another pretends to be poor
09:23and yet possesses great wealth.
09:27The ransom of a person's life
09:29is his wealth,
09:31but the poor person hears no threat.
09:37The light of righteousness
09:39shines brightly,
09:41but the lamp of wickedness goes out.
09:45With pride comes only contention,
09:48but wisdom is with the well advised.
09:52Wealth gained quickly will dwindle away,
09:55but the one who gathers little by little
09:58will become rich.
10:01Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
10:04but a longing fulfilled
10:06is like a tree of life.
10:09The one who despises instruction
10:11will pay the penalty,
10:14but whoever esteems instruction
10:17will be rewarded.
10:20Instruction from the wise
10:22is like a life-giving fountain
10:24to turn a person from deadly snares.
10:29Keen insight wins favor,
10:31but the conduct of the unfaithful
10:33is harsh.
10:36Every shrewd person acts with knowledge,
10:39but a fool displays his folly.
10:43An unreliable messenger
10:45falls into trouble,
10:47but a faithful envoy brings healing.
10:52The one who neglects discipline
10:54ends up in poverty and shame,
10:56but the one who accepts reproof
10:58is honoured.
11:01A desire fulfilled
11:02is sweet to the soul,
11:04but fools have whore
11:06turning away from evil.
11:10The one who associates
11:11with the wise grows wise,
11:14but a companion of fools
11:16suffers harm.
11:19Calamity pursues sinners,
11:21but prosperity rewards
11:22the righteous.
11:24A benevolent person
11:26leaves an inheritance
11:28for his grandchildren,
11:30but the wealth of a sinner
11:31is stored up for the righteous.
11:35There is abundant food
11:37in the field for the poor,
11:39but it is swept away
11:41by injustice.
11:43The one who spares his rod
11:45hates his child,
11:47but the one who loves his child
11:49is diligent in his discipline.
11:53The righteous has enough food
11:55to satisfy his appetite,
11:57but the belly of the wicked
11:59lacks food.
12:02This is the word of the Lord.
12:05Thanks be to God.
12:07Amen.
12:19Mary said,
12:20My soul exalts the Lord,
12:23and my spirit has begun
12:25to rejoice in God my Saviour,
12:28because he has looked
12:29upon the humble state
12:31of his servant.
12:33For from now on all generations
12:36will call me blessed,
12:38because he who is mighty
12:40has done great things for me,
12:42and holy is his name.
12:44From generation to generation
12:47he is merciful to those
12:49who fear him.
12:51He has demonstrated power
12:53with his arm.
12:54He has scattered those
12:56whose pride wells up
12:57from the sheer arrogance
12:58of their hearts.
13:00He has brought down
13:02the mighty from their thrones,
13:03and has lifted up
13:05those of lowly position.
13:07He has filled the hungry
13:09with good things,
13:10and has sent the rich
13:11away empty.
13:13He has helped his servant Israel,
13:16remembering his mercy,
13:18as he promised
13:19to our ancestors,
13:21to Abraham,
13:22and to his descendants
13:24for ever.
13:26Glory be to the Father,
13:28and to the Son,
13:29and to the Holy Spirit,
13:30as it was in the beginning,
13:33is now,
13:34and ever shall be,
13:36world without end.
13:38Amen.
13:46The Gospel according to
13:48Saint Matthew, chapter 12.
13:51At that time,
13:52Jesus went through
13:53the grain fields
13:54on a Sabbath.
13:56His disciples were hungry,
13:57and they began to pick
13:59heads of wheat
14:00and eat them.
14:02But when the disciples
14:03saw this,
14:04they said to him,
14:05Look,
14:06your disciples are doing
14:07what is against the law
14:08to do on the Sabbath.
14:11He said to them,
14:12Haven't you read
14:13what David did
14:14when he and his companions
14:15were hungry?
14:17How he entered
14:18the house of God,
14:19and they ate
14:20the sacred bread,
14:22which was against
14:23the law for him
14:24or his companions
14:26to eat,
14:27but only for the priests?
14:30Or have you not
14:31read in the law
14:32that the priests
14:32in the temple
14:34desecrate the Sabbath,
14:35and yet they're not guilty?
14:38I tell you,
14:39there's something
14:40far greater than
14:41the temple is here.
14:43If you had known
14:44what this means,
14:45I want mercy
14:47and not sacrifice.
14:49You would not
14:50condemn the innocent.
14:52For the Son of Man
14:53is the Lord
14:54of the Sabbath.
14:58Then Jesus left
14:59that place
15:00and entered
15:00into their synagogue.
15:02A man was there
15:04who had a withered hand.
15:06They asked to Jesus,
15:08Is it lawful
15:09to heal
15:10on the Sabbath?
15:11In order
15:12that they might
15:13accuse him.
15:15He said to them,
15:17Which of you,
15:18if he had one sheep
15:20that fell into a pit
15:21on the Sabbath,
15:22would lift it out?
15:26How much more valuable
15:28is a person
15:29than a sheep?
15:31So it is lawful
15:33to do good
15:33on the Sabbath.
15:35And then he said
15:36to the man,
15:37Stretch out your hand.
15:39He stretched it out
15:41and it was restored
15:42to be as healthy
15:44as the other.
15:46But the Pharisees
15:47went out
15:48and plotted against him
15:50as to how
15:51they might assassinate him.
15:56Now when Jesus
15:57learnt of this,
15:58he went away
15:58from there
15:59great crowds
16:00followed him
16:01and he healed
16:03all of them.
16:05But he sternly
16:06warned them
16:06not to make him
16:07known.
16:10Fulfilling what was
16:11spoken by Isaiah
16:12the prophet.
16:14Here is my servant
16:16who I have chosen,
16:18the one I love
16:19in whom I take
16:20great delight.
16:22I will put my
16:24spirit on him
16:25and he will
16:26proclaim justice
16:27to the nations.
16:29He will not
16:31quarrel or cry out
16:32nor will anyone
16:33hear his voice
16:34in the streets.
16:36He will not
16:37break a bruised
16:38reed
16:39or extinguish
16:40a smothering wick
16:41until he brings
16:43justice
16:43to victory
16:45and in his name
16:47the Gentiles
16:48will hope.
16:51This is the word
16:52of the Lord.
16:53Thanks be to God.
17:06Now according to
17:07your word
17:08Sovereign Lord

17:21for revelation
17:22to the Gentiles
