00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 93
05:00The Lord reigns.
05:02He is robed in majesty.
05:04The Lord is robed.
05:06He wears strength around his waist.
05:08Indeed, the world is established.
05:10It cannot be moved.
05:13Your throne has been secure from ancient times.
05:17You have always been king.
05:20The waves roar, O Lord.
05:23The waves roar.
05:23The waves roar and crash.
05:27Above the sound of the surging water and the mighty waves of the sea,
05:31the Lord sits enthroned in majesty.
05:36The rules you set down are completely reliable.
05:40Holiness aptly adorns your house, O Lord, for ever.
05:46Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
05:50As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
05:56Amen.
05:59Psalm 94
06:02O Lord, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, reveal your splendor.
06:10Rise up, O judge of the earth, pay back the prode.
06:15O Lord, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked celebrate?
06:19They spew out threats, and speak defiantly.
06:24All the evildoers boast.
06:28O Lord, they crush your people.
06:30They oppress the nation that belongs to you.
06:34They kill the widow and the resident foreigner.
06:37They murder the fatherless.
06:40Then they say,
06:41The Lord does not see this.
06:43The God of Jacob does not take notice of it.
06:48Take notice of this, you ignorant people.
06:51You fools!
06:52When will you ever understand?
06:55Does the one who makes the human ear not hear?
06:59Does the one who forms the human eye not see?
07:03Does the one who disciplines the nations not punish?
07:06He is the one who imparts knowledge to human beings.
07:12The Lord knows that people's thoughts are morally bankrupt.
07:18How blessed is the one whom you instruct, O Lord!
07:23The one whom you teach from your law,
07:26in order to protect them from times of trouble,
07:30until the wicked are destroyed.
07:34Certainly, the Lord does not forsake his people.
07:37He does not abandon the nation that belongs to him.
07:41For justice will prevail,
07:43and all the morally upright will be vindicated.
07:48Who will rise up to defend me against the wicked?
07:51Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?
07:55If the Lord had not helped me,
07:57I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
08:01If I say my foot is slipping,
08:04your loyal love, O Lord, supports me.
08:07When worries threaten to overwhelm me,
08:10your soothing touch makes me happy.
08:14Cruel rulers are not your allies,
08:17those who make oppressive laws.
08:19They conspire against the blameless
08:21and condemn to death the innocent.
08:25But the Lord will protect me,
08:27and my God will shelter me.
08:30He will pay them back for their sin.
08:32He will destroy them because of their evil.
08:35The Lord our God will destroy them.
08:39Glory be to the Father,
08:40and to the Son,
08:41and to the Holy Spirit,
08:43as it was in the beginning,
08:45is now, and ever shall be,
08:47world without end.
08:49Amen.
08:59The book of Ezra,
09:00chapter 5
09:03Then the prophets Haggai and Zechariah,
09:06son of Iddo,
09:08prophesied concerning the Jews
09:09who were in Judah and Jerusalem,
09:12in the name of the God of Israel
09:14who was over them.
09:17Then Zerubbabel,
09:18the son of Shealtiel,
09:19and Yeshua,
09:20the son of Josedach,
09:21began to rebuild the temple of God
09:23in Jerusalem.
09:26The prophets of God
09:27were with them,
09:28supporting them.
09:31At that time,
09:32Tat and I,
09:33governor of Trans-Euphrates,
09:35Shethar Bozenai,
09:37and their colleagues
09:37came to them and asked,
09:39Who gave you authority
09:41to rebuild this temple
09:43and to complete the structure?
09:46They also asked them,
09:48What are the names of the men
09:50who are building this edifice?
09:54But God was watching over
09:56the elders of Judah,
09:57and they were not stopped
09:58until a report could be
10:00dispatched to Darius,
10:01and a letter could be sent back
10:03concerning this.
10:06This is a copy that
10:07Tat and I,
10:08governor of Trans-Euphrates,
10:11Shethar Bozenai,
10:12and his colleagues,
10:13who were the officials
10:15of Trans-Euphrates,
10:16sent to King Darius.
10:19Their report
10:20was written as follows.
10:24To King Darius,
10:26all greetings.
10:27Let it be known to the king
10:29that we have gone
10:29to the province of Judah,
10:32to the temple of the great God.
10:35It is being built with large stones,
10:38and timbers are being placed
10:39in the walls.
10:41This work is being done
10:43with all diligence,
10:44and is prospering in their hands.
10:48We inquired of those elders,
10:50asking them,
10:51Who gave you the authority
10:53to rebuild this temple,
10:54and to complete this structure?
10:58We also inquired of their names,
11:00in order to inform you,
11:01that we might write the names
11:03of the men who were their leaders.
11:06They responded to us in the following way.
11:10We are servants of the God of heaven and earth.
11:13We are rebuilding the temple,
11:15which was previously built many years ago.
11:19A great king of Israel built it and completed it.
11:23But after our ancestors
11:25angered the God of heaven,
11:26he delivered them into the hands
11:28of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon,
11:31the Chaldean,
11:32who destroyed this temple
11:34and exiled the people to Babylon.
11:38But in the first year of King Cyrus of Babylon,
11:41King Cyrus enacted a decree
11:44to rebuild this temple of God.
11:47Even the gold and silver vessels
11:50of the temple of God
11:51that Nebuchadnezzar had taken
11:53from the temple in Jerusalem
11:55and had brought to the palace of Babylon.
11:58Even those things King Cyrus brought
12:01from the palace of Babylon
12:02and presented to a man
12:05by the name of Shesh-bazar,
12:07who he had appointed as governor.
12:10He said to him,
12:12Take these vessels and go deposit them
12:14in the temple in Jerusalem.
12:16I'd let the house of God be rebuilt
12:18in its proper location.
12:21Then this Shesh-bazar
12:23went and laid the foundations
12:25of the temple of God in Jerusalem.
12:28From that time to the present,
12:30it has been in process of being rebuilt,
12:33although it is not yet finished.
12:38So now if the king is inclined,
12:40let a search be conducted
12:41in the royal archives
12:42there in Babylonia
12:44to determine whether or not
12:47King Cyrus did in fact issue orders
12:49for this temple of God
12:51to be rebuilt in Jerusalem.
12:54Then may the king send us a decision
12:57concerning this matter.
13:01This is the words of the Lord.
13:03Thanks be to God.
13:17Mary said,
13:19My soul exalts the Lord,
13:22and my spirit has begun to rejoice
13:24in God my Saviour,
13:26because he has looked
13:27upon the humble state of his servant.
13:31For from now on,
13:33all generations will call me blessed,
13:36because he who is mighty
13:38has done great things for me,
13:40and holy is his name.
13:42From generation to generation
13:45he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:49He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:53He has scattered those
13:54whose pride wells up
13:55from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:58He has brought down the mighty
14:00from their thrones,
14:01and has lifted up those
14:03of lowly position.
14:05He has filled the hungry
14:07with good things,
14:08and has sent the rich away empty.
14:11He has helped his servant Israel,
14:14remembering his mercy,
14:16as he promised to our ancestors,
14:19to Abraham,
14:20and to his descendants for ever.
14:24Glory be to the Father,
14:26and to the Son,
14:27and to the Holy Spirit,
14:29as it was in the beginning,
14:31is now,
14:32and ever shall be,
14:34world without end.
14:36Amen.
14:44The first epistle of St. Peter,
14:46chapters 3 and 4
14:51Last of all,
14:52see that you are all in agreement,
14:54feeling for one another,
14:56loving one another like brothers,
14:58full of pity,
15:00and without pride,
15:01not giving back evil for evil,
15:04or curse for curse,
15:05but in place of curse,
15:08a blessing.
15:10Because this is the purpose
15:11of God for you,
15:12that you may have a heritage
15:14of blessings.
15:17For it is said,
15:18let the man who has a love of life,
15:20desiring to see good days,
15:23keep his tongue from evil,
15:25and his lips from words of deceit.
15:28Let him be turned from evil,
15:30and do good,
15:31searching for peace,
15:33and going after it
15:35with all his heart.
15:38For the eyes of the Lord
15:40are on the upright,
15:41and his ears are open
15:42to their prayers.
15:44But the face of the Lord
15:46is set against those
15:47who do evil.
15:52Who will do you any damage
15:54if you keep your minds fixed
15:55on what is good?
15:58But you are happy
16:00if you undergo pain
16:01because of righteousness.
16:04Have no part in their fear,
16:06and do not be troubled,
16:08but give honour to Christ
16:09in your hearts
16:10as your Lord.
16:12Be ready at any time
16:14when you are questioned
16:15about the hope
16:16which is in you.
16:17To give an answer
16:19in the fear of the Lord,
16:20and without pride.
16:23Being conscious
16:24that you have done no wrong,
16:26so that those
16:27who say evil things
16:29about your good way of life
16:31as Christians
16:33may be put to shame.
16:36If it is God's purpose
16:38for you to undergo pain,
16:39it is better to do so
16:41for well-doing
16:42than for evil-doing.
16:45Because Christ once
16:46went through pain
16:48for sins,
16:49the upright one
16:50taking the place
16:51of sinners,
16:53so that through him
16:54we might come back
16:55to God,
16:56being put to death
16:58in the flesh,
16:59but given life
17:00in the Spirit,
17:01by whom he went
17:02to the spirits
17:03in prison,
17:05preaching to those
17:06who in the days
17:07of Noah
17:08went against
17:09God's orders.
17:12But God in his mercy
17:13kept back
17:14the punishment,
17:15while Noah
17:16got ready
17:17the ark
17:18in which a small number,
17:20that is to say
17:21eight,
17:23obtained salvation
17:24through water.
17:27Baptism,
17:28of which this is an image,
17:30now gives you salvation,
17:33not by washing clean
17:34the flesh,
17:35but by making you free
17:37from the sense of sin
17:38before God,
17:39through the coming again
17:41of Jesus Christ
17:42from the dead,
17:44who has gone into heaven
17:45and is seated
17:46at the right hand
17:47of God,
17:48the Father Almighty,
17:51angels and authorities
17:52and powers
17:53having been put
17:55under his rule.
17:59so that as Jesus
18:00was put to death
18:01in the flesh,
18:03do you yourselves
18:04be of the same mind?
18:06For the death
18:07of the flesh
18:08puts an end
18:08to sin,
18:10that you may give
18:11the rest of your lives
18:12in the flesh
18:13not to the desires
18:14of men,
18:15but to the purpose
18:16of God.
18:19Because for long enough
18:20in times past
18:21we have been living
18:22after the way
18:23of the Gentiles
18:24given up
18:26to the desires
18:27of the flesh
18:27to drinking
18:29and feasting
18:30and loose behaviour
18:31the unclean worship
18:33of images.
18:35They are wondering
18:36that you no longer
18:37go with them
18:38in this violent
18:39wasting of life
18:40and are saying
18:42evil things of you.
18:44They will have to
18:45give an account
18:46of themselves
18:47to him
18:47who is ready
18:48to be the judge
18:49of both the living
18:50and the dead.
18:52For this was the reason
18:54why the good news
18:55of Jesus was given
18:56even to the dead
18:58that they might be judged
19:00as men in the flesh
19:01but might be living
19:03before God
19:04in the spirit.
19:07This is the word
19:08of the Lord.
19:10Thanks be to God.
19:24Now according to your word
19:27Sovereign Lord
19:27permit your servant
19:29to depart in peace
19:31for my eyes
19:33have seen your salvation
19:34that you have prepared
19:36in the presence
19:37of all peoples
19:38a light
19:40for revelation
19:41to the Gentiles
19:42and for glory
19:43to your people
19:44Israel.
19:47Glory be to the Father
19:49and to the Son
19:50and to the Holy Spirit
19:51as it was
19:52in the beginning
19:53is now
19:54and ever shall be
19:55world without end.
19:58Amen.
20:03I believe in God
20:04the Father Almighty
20:05maker of heaven
20:07and earth
20:08and in Jesus Christ
20:10his only Son
20:10our Lord
20:12who was conceived
20:13by the Holy Spirit
20:15born of the Virgin Mary
20:17suffered unto Pontius Pilate
20:20was crucified
20:22dead
20:22and buried
20:23he descended
20:25into hell
20:26on the third day
20:27he rose again
20:28from the dead
20:29he ascended
20:31into heaven
20:32and is sitting
20:33at the right hand
20:34of God
20:34the Father Almighty
20:37from there
20:38he shall come
20:38to judge
20:39the living
20:39and the dead
20:41I believe
20:42in the Holy Spirit
20:43the Holy Catholic Church
20:45the communion of saints
20:47the forgiveness of sins
20:49the resurrection of the body
20:52and the life everlasting
20:54Amen
21:00The Lord be with you
21:02and with your spirit
21:07Let us pray
21:10Lord have mercy upon us
21:14Christ
21:14have mercy upon us
21:18Lord have mercy upon us
21:25Our Father
21:26who is in heaven
21:28holy is your name
21:30may your kingdom come
21:32may your will be done
21:35on earth
21:35as it is in heaven
21:38Give us this day
21:39our daily bread
21:40forgive us
21:41our trespasses
21:42as we forgive those
21:44who trespass against us
21:47Lead us not
21:48into temptation
21:49but deliver us
21:51from evil
21:52for yours
21:54is the kingdom
21:55the power
21:56and the glory
21:57for ever
21:58and ever
21:59Amen
22:05O Lord
22:06show your mercy upon us
22:07and grant us
22:10your salvation
22:13protect and guide
22:15those in authority
22:16over us
22:18and mercifully hear us
22:20when we call upon you
22:24endure your ministers
22:25with righteousness
22:26and make your chosen
22:29people joyful
22:32O Lord
22:34save your people
22:35and bless your inheritance
22:41give peace
22:42in our time
22:43O Lord
22:45because there is none other
22:46who fights for us
22:47but only you
22:48O God
22:51O God
22:52make clean
22:53our hearts
22:54within us
22:56and take not
22:57your Holy Spirit
22:58from us
23:08let us pray
23:10O Lord
23:11who never fails
23:13to help
23:13and govern
23:14those
23:15who you bring up
23:16in your steadfast fear
23:17and love
23:19keep us
23:20we beseech you
23:21under the protection
23:22of your good providence
23:23and make us
23:25have a perpetual fear
23:26and love
23:27of your Holy Name
23:29Through Jesus Christ
23:31our Lord
23:32Amen
23:41O God
23:42from whom
23:44all holy desires
23:45all good counsels
23:47and all just works
23:48proceed
23:49give to your servants
23:51that peace
23:52which the world
23:53cannot give
23:54that our hearts
23:56may be set to
23:57obey your commandments
23:58and also
24:00that by you
24:01we being defended
24:03from the fear
24:04of our enemies
24:05may pass our time
24:07in rest
24:07and quietness
24:08through the merits
