00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 106
05:00Praise the Lord.
05:02Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his loyal love endures.
05:07Who can adequately recount the Lord's mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?
05:15How blessed are those who promote justice, and do what is right, all the time.
05:21Remember me, O Lord, when you show favour to your people.
05:25Pay attention to me when you deliver, so that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones.
05:32Rejoice along with your nation, and boast along with the people who belong to you.
05:38We have sinned like our ancestors.
05:41We have done wrong.
05:42We have done evil.
05:44Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds.
05:50They failed to remember your many acts of loyal love.
05:53And they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea.
05:57Yet, he delivered them for the sake of his reputation, that he might reveal his power.
06:04He shouted at the Red Sea, and dried up.
06:07He led them through the deep water, as if it were a desert.
06:11He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them.
06:16Rescued them from the power of the enemy.
06:20The water covered their enemies.
06:22Not even one of them survived.
06:25They believed his promises.
06:28They sang praises to him.
06:30They quickly forgot what he had done.
06:33They did not wait for his instructions.
06:37In the wilderness, they had an insatiable craving for meat.
06:41They challenged God in the wastelands.
06:45He granted their request, then struck them.
06:49With a disease.
06:51In the camp, they resented Moses and Aaron, the Lord's holy priest.
06:57The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan.
07:01It engulfed the group led by Abiram.
07:05Fire burned their group.
07:07The flames scorched the wicked.
07:11They made an image of a calf at Horeb and worshipped a metal idol.
07:15They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass.
07:21They rejected the God who delivered them.
07:24The one who performed great deeds in Egypt.
07:27Amazing feats in the land of Ham.
07:30Mighty acts by the Red Sea.
07:34He threatened to destroy them.
07:37But Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.
07:44They rejected the fruitful land.
07:47They did not believe his promise.
07:50They grumbled in their tents.
07:52They did not obey the Lord.
07:54So he made a solemn vow that he would make them die in the wilderness.
07:59Make their descendants die among the nations and scattered them amongst foreign lands.
08:05They worshipped Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.
08:11They made the Lord angry by their actions and a plague broke out among them.
08:19Phinehas took a stand and intervened and the plague subsided.
08:24This was credited to him as a righteous act for all generations to come.
08:31They made him angry by the waters of Meribah and Moses suffered because of them.
08:37For they aroused his temple and he spoke rashly.
08:42They did not destroy the nations as the Lord had commanded them to do.
08:47They mixed in with the nations and learnt their ways.
08:51They worshipped their idols which became a snare to them.
08:55They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
08:59They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan.
09:07The land was polluted by bloodshed.
09:11They were defiled by their deeds and unfaithful in their actions.
09:17So the Lord was angry with his people and despised the people who belonged to him.
09:22He handed them over to the nations and those who hated them ruled over them.
09:29Their enemies oppressed them.
09:31They were subject to their authority.
09:34Many times he delivered them, but they had a rebellious attitude and degraded themselves by their sin.
09:42Yet he took notice of their distress when he heard their cry for help.
09:49He remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his great loyal love.
09:55He caused all their conquerors to have pity on them.
10:05Then we will give thanks to your holy name and boast of your praiseworthy deeds.
10:12The Lord God of Israel deserves praise in the future and for evermore.
10:18Let all the people say,
10:20We agree.
10:21Praise the Lord.
10:24Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
10:29as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
10:33world without end.
10:35Amen.
10:42The book of Proverbs, chapter 10
10:46A wise child makes a father rejoice,
10:50but a foolish child is a grief to his mother.
10:55Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
10:58but righteousness delivers from mortal danger.
11:03The Lord satisfies the appetite of the righteous,
11:06but he thwarts the craving of the poor.
11:10The one who is lazy becomes poor,
11:12but the one who works diligently becomes wealthy.
11:16The one who gathers crops in the summer is a wise son,
11:20but the one who sleeps during the harvest
11:22is a son who brings shame to himself.
11:27Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
11:30but the speech of the wicked conceals violence.
11:35The memory of the righteous is a blessing,
11:38but the reputation of the wicked will rot.
11:41The wise person accepts instruction,
11:44but the one who speaks foolishness will come to ruin.
11:49The one who conducts himself in integrity will live securely,
11:53but the one who behaves perversely will be found out.
11:59The one who winks his eye causes trouble,
12:02and the one who speaks foolishness will come to ruin.
12:06The teaching of the righteous is a fountain of life,
12:10but the speech of the wicked conceals violence.
12:16Hatred stirs up a dissension,
12:18but love covers all transgressions.
12:23Wisdom is found in the words of the discerning person,
12:26but the one who lacks wisdom will be disciplined.
12:31Those who are wise store up knowledge,
12:34but foolish speech leads to imminent destruction.
12:39The wealth of a rich person is like a fortified city,
12:44but the poor are brought to ruin by their profit of poverty.
12:49The reward which the righteous receive is life.
12:53The recompense which the wicked receive is judgment.
12:59The one who heeds instruction is on the way to life,
13:02but the one who rejects rebuke goes astray.
13:07The one who conceals hatred utters lies,
13:10and the one who spreads slander is certainly a fool.
13:15When words abound, transgression is inevitable,
13:20but the one who restrains his words is wise.
13:26But what the righteous say is like the best silver,
13:30what the wicked think is of little value.
13:34The teaching of the righteous feeds many,
13:38but fools die for lack of wisdom.
13:43The blessing from the Lord makes a person rich,
13:47and he adds no sorrow to it.
13:50Carrying out a wicked scheme is enjoyable to a fool,
13:54and so is wisdom for the one who has discernment.
13:59What the wicked fears will come upon him,
14:02what the righteous desire will be granted.
14:06When the storm passes through, the wicked are swept away,
14:10but the righteous are an everlasting foundation.
14:15Like vinegar to the teeth, and like smoke to the eyes,
14:19so is the sluggard to those who sent him.
14:23Fearing the Lord prolongs life,
14:26but the lifespan of the wicked will be shortened.
14:30The hope of the righteous is joy,
14:34but the expectation of the wicked will remain unfulfilled.
14:40The way of the Lord is like a stronghold for the upright,
14:44but it is destruction to evildoers.
14:48The righteous will never be moved,
14:51but the wicked will not inhabit the land.
14:56The speech of the righteous bears the fruit of wisdom,
15:01but the one who speaks perversion will be destroyed.
15:05The lips of the righteous know what is pleasing,
15:09but the speech of the wicked is perverse.
15:14This is the word of the Lord.
15:17Thanks be to God.
15:32Mary said,
15:34My soul exalts the Lord,
15:36and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
15:41because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
15:46For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
15:51because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
15:55and holy is his name.
15:57From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
16:04He has demonstrated power with his arm.
16:07He has scattered those whose pride wells up
16:10from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
16:13He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
16:16and has lifted up those of lowly position.
16:20He has filled the hungry with good things,
16:23and has sent the rich away empty.
16:26He has helped his servant Israel,
16:29remembering his mercy,
16:31as he promised to our ancestors,
16:34to Abraham,
16:35and to his descendants for ever.
16:39Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
16:44as it was in the beginning,
16:46is now and ever shall be,
16:49world without end.
16:51Amen.
17:03A disciple is not greater than his teacher,
17:06nor a slave greater than his master.
17:10It is enough for the disciple to become like his teacher,
17:14and for the slave to become like his master.
17:18If they have called the head of the house by eligible,
17:22how much more will they defame the members of his household.
17:27Do not be afraid of them,
17:28for nothing is hidden that will not be revealed,
17:31and nothing is secret that it will not be made known.
17:36What I say to you in the dark,
17:38tell out in the light,
17:39and what is whispered in your ear,
17:42proclaim from the housetops.
17:45Do not be afraid of those who kill the body,
17:48but cannot kill the soul.
17:51Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
17:59Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?
18:03Yet not one of them falls to the ground,
18:06apart from your Father's will.
18:09Even the hairs on your head are numbered,
18:12so do not be afraid,
18:14for you are more valuable than many sparrows.
18:19Whoever then acknowledges me before people,
18:22I will acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
18:26But whoever denies me before people,
18:29I will deny him also before my Father in heaven.
18:36Do not have the thought
18:37that I have come to send peace on the earth.
18:41I came not to send peace, but a sword.
18:46For I have come to put a man against his father,
18:49and the daughter against her mother,
18:51the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,
18:54and a man will be hated by those of his house.
19:00He who has more love for his father or mother than for me
19:04is not good enough for me.
19:08He who has more love for a son or daughter than for me
19:12is not good enough for me.
19:15And he who does not take his cross
19:17and come after me
19:19is not good enough for me.
19:24He who desires to keep his life
19:26will have it taken from him.
19:28And he who gives up his life because of me
19:31will have it given back to him.
19:35He who gives honour to you gives honour to me,
19:38and he who gives honour to me
19:40gives honour to the one who sent me.
19:44He who gives honour to a prophet
19:46in the name of a prophet
19:48will be given a prophet's reward.
19:51And he who gives honour to an upright man
19:53in the name of an upright man
19:56will be given an upright man's reward.
20:02Whoever gives one of these
20:04a cup of cold water only
20:06in the name of a disciple
20:08truly I say to you
20:10he will not go without his reward.
20:14This is the word of the Lord.
20:18Thanks be to God.
20:29Now according to your word,
20:31Sovereign Lord,
20:33permit your servant to depart in peace.
20:36For my eyes have seen your salvation
20:39that you have prepared
20:40in the presence of all peoples
20:43a light for revelation to the Gentiles
20:46and for glory to your people Israel.
20:52Glory be to the Father
20:53and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
20:56as it was in the beginning
20:58is now and ever shall be
21:00world without end.
21:02Amen.
21:07I believe in God the Father Almighty
21:10maker of heaven and earth
21:13and in Jesus Christ
21:14his only Son our Lord
21:17who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
21:19born of the Virgin Mary
21:21suffered unto Pontius Pilate
21:25was crucified, dead and buried
21:28he descended into hell
21:30on the third day
21:32he rose again from the dead
21:34he ascended into heaven
21:36and is sitting at the right hand
21:39of God the Father Almighty
21:41from there he shall come
21:43to judge the living and the dead
21:46I believe in the Holy Spirit
21:48the Holy Catholic Church
21:50the communion of saints
21:52the forgiveness of sins
21:54the resurrection of the body
21:56and the life everlasting

23:49because there is none other who fights for us
23:52but only you
23:53O God
23:56O God make clean our hearts within us
24:00and take not your Holy Spirit from us
24:12Let us pray
