00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
05:01How blessed are those whose actions are blameless, who obey the law of the Lord.
05:07How blessed are those who observe His rules, and seek Him with all their heart.
05:13Who, moreover, do no wrong, but follow in His footsteps.
05:19You demand that your precepts be carefully kept.
05:23But if only I were predisposed to keep your statutes, then I would not be ashamed if I were focused
05:31on your commands.
05:34I will give you sincere thanks, when I learn your just regulations.
05:39I will keep your statutes.
05:42Do not completely abandon me.
05:46How can a young person maintain a pure life?
05:49By guarding it according to your instruction.
05:53With all my heart I seek you.
05:56Do not allow me to stray from your commands.
05:59In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you.
06:06You deserve praise, O Lord.
06:08Teach me your statutes.
06:11With my lips I proclaim all the regulations you have revealed.
06:16I rejoice in the lifestyle prescribed by your rules, as if they were riches of all kinds.
06:24I will meditate on your precepts and focus on your behavior.
06:29I find delight in your statutes.
06:32I do not forget your instructions.
06:36Be kind to your servant, then I will live and keep your instructions.
06:42Open my eyes, so that I can truly see the marvellous things in your law.
06:48I am a resident foreigner in this land.
06:51Do not hide your commands from me.
06:54I desperately long to know your regulations at all times.
07:01You reprimand arrogant people.
07:03Those who stray from your commands are doomed.
07:08Spare me shame and humiliation, for I observe your rules.
07:13Though rulers plot and slander me, your servant meditates on your statutes.
07:19Yes, I find delight in your rules.
07:22They give me guidance.
07:25I collapse in the dirt.
07:27Revive me with your word.
07:30I told you about my ways and you answered me.
07:33Teach me your statutes.
07:36Help me to understand what your precepts mean.
07:40Then I can meditate on your marvellous teachings.
07:44I collapse from grief.
07:46Sustain me by your word.
07:49Remove me from the path of deceit.
07:52Graciously give me your law.
07:55I choose the path of faithfulness.
07:57I am committed to your regulations.
08:00I hold fast to your rules, O Lord.
08:03Do not let me be ashamed.
08:06I run along the path of your commands,
08:09for you enable me to do so.
08:13Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
08:17as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
08:21world without end.
08:23Amen.
08:30The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 14
08:35A king's glory is the abundance of people,
08:39but the lack of subjects is the ruin of a ruler.
08:43The one who is slow to anger has great understanding,
08:47but the one who has a quick temper exalts folly.
08:52A tranquil spirit who revives the body,
08:55but envy is rottenness to the bones.
09:00The one who oppresses the poor insults his creator,
09:04but whoever shows favour to the needy honours him.
09:09The wicked will be thrown down in his trouble,
09:12but the righteous have refuge even in the threat of death.
09:19Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning.
09:22It is known even in the heart of fools.
09:27Righteousness exalts a nation,
09:29but sin is a disgrace to any people.
09:33The king shows favour to a wise servant,
09:37but his wrath falls on one who acts shamefully.
09:42This is the word of the Lord.
09:46Thanks be to God.
10:00Mary said,
10:02My soul exalts the Lord,
10:05and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
10:09because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
10:15For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
10:19because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
10:23and holy is his name.
10:26From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
10:32He has demonstrated power with his arm.
10:35He has scattered those whose pride wells up
10:38from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
10:42He has brought down the mighty from their thrones
10:44and has lifted up those of lowly position.
10:48He has filled the hungry with good things
10:51and has sent the rich away empty.
10:54He has helped his servant Israel,
10:57remembering his mercy,
10:59as he promised to our ancestors,
11:02to Abraham and to his descendants for ever.
11:07Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
11:12as it was in the beginning,
11:14is now and ever shall be,
11:17world without end.
11:19Amen.
11:27The Gospel according to St. Matthew,
11:29Chapter 12
11:34Then they brought to him a demon-possessed man
11:38who was blind and mute.
11:41Jesus healed him so that he could speak and see.
11:45All the crates were amazed and said,
11:48Could this one be the son of David?
11:51But when the Pharisees heard this,
11:53they said,
11:54He does not cast out demons
11:56except by the power of Beelzebul,
11:58the ruler of demons.
12:02When Jesus realized what they were thinking,
12:05he said to them,
12:06Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed.
12:10No town or house divided against itself will stand.
12:15So if Satan casts out Satan,
12:18he is divided against himself.
12:21How then will his kingdom stand?
12:25If I cast out demons by Beelzebul,
12:29by whom do your sons cast them out?
12:33For this reason they will be your judges.
12:37But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God,
12:40then the kingdom of God has already overtaken you.
12:45How else can someone enter a strong man's house
12:48and steal his property,
12:50unless he first ties up the strong man?
12:54Then he can thoroughly plunder the house.
12:59Whoever is not with me is against me,
13:03and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
13:07For this reason I tell you,
13:09people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy.
13:13For the blasphemy against the Spirit
13:15will not be forgiven.
13:18Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man
13:21will be forgiven.
13:22But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit
13:25will not be forgiven,
13:27either in this age or in the age to come.
13:33Make a tree good and its fruit will be good.
13:37Make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad.
13:39And the tree is known by its fruit.
13:41You, offspring of vipers,
13:44how are you able to say anything good,
13:47since you are evil?
13:48For the mouth speaks from what fills the heart.
13:53The good person brings good things
13:55out of his good treasury.
13:58And the evil person brings evil things
14:01out of his evil treasury.
14:04I tell you that on the day of judgment,
14:07people will give an account
14:08for every worthless word they speak.
14:12For by your words you will be justified,
14:15and by your words you will be condemned.
14:22Then some of the experts in the law,
14:25along with some Pharisees,
14:26answered him,
14:28Teacher,
14:29we want to see a sign from you.
14:32But he answered them,
14:35An evil and adulterous generation
14:37asks for a sign.
14:39But no sign will be given to it
14:42except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
14:45For just as Jonah was in the belly of the fish
14:48for three days and three nights,
14:50so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth
14:53for three days and three nights.
14:57The people of Nineveh will stand up
15:00at the judgment with this generation
15:02and condemn it,
15:04because they repented
15:05when Jonah preached to them.
15:08And now something greater than Jonah is here.
15:12The Queen of the South will rise up
15:14at the judgment with this generation
15:16and condemn it,
15:18because she came from the ends of the earth
15:21to hear the wisdom of Solomon.
15:23And now something greater than Solomon is here.
15:29When an unclean spirit goes out of a person,
15:32it passes through waterless places
15:34looking for rest,
15:35but does not find it.
15:37Then it says,
15:39I will return to the home I left.
15:42When it returns,
15:44it finds the house empty,
15:45swept clean and in place.
15:48Then it goes and brings with it
15:50seven other spirits more evil
15:52but itself.
15:54And they go in and live there,
15:56so that the last state of that person
15:58is worse than the first.
16:01It will be that way
16:03for this evil generation as well.
16:07This is the word of the Lord.
16:10Thanks be to God.
16:22Now according to your word,
16:24Sovereign Lord,
16:25permit your servant to depart in peace.
16:29For my eyes have seen your salvation
16:31that you have prepared
16:33in the presence of all peoples,
16:36a light for revelation to the Gentiles
16:39and for glory to your people Israel.
16:44Glory be to the Father and to the Son
16:47and to the Holy Spirit,
16:49as it was in the beginning,
16:50is now and ever shall be,
16:53world without end.
16:54Amen.
17:00I believe in God the Father Almighty,
17:04maker of heaven and earth,
17:06and in Jesus Christ,
17:07his only Son,
17:08our Lord,
17:09who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
17:12born of the Virgin Mary,
17:15suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
17:18was crucified,
17:20dead,
17:20and buried.
17:21He descended into hell.
17:23On the third day,
17:25he rose again from the dead.
17:27He ascended into heaven
17:29and is sitting at the right hand
17:31of God the Father Almighty.
17:34From there,
17:35he shall come to judge
17:36the living and the dead.
17:39I believe in the Holy Spirit,
17:41the holy Catholic Church,
17:43the communion of saints,
17:45the forgiveness of sins,
17:47the resurrection of the body,
17:49and the life everlasting.
17:52Amen.
17:57The Lord be with you
18:00and with your spirit.
18:04Let us pray.
18:08Lord, have mercy upon us.
18:11Christ, have mercy upon us.
18:16Lord, have mercy upon us.
18:22Our Father,
18:24who is in heaven,
18:26holy is your name.
18:28May your kingdom come.
18:31May your will be done
18:32on earth as it is in heaven.
18:35Give us this day
18:37our daily bread.
18:38Forgive us our trespasses,
18:40as we forgive those
18:42who trespass against us.
18:45Lead us not into temptation,
18:47but deliver us from evil.
18:50For yours is the kingdom,
18:52the power and the glory,
18:55for ever and ever.
18:57Amen.
19:02O Lord, show your mercy upon us
19:05and grant us your salvation.
19:11Protect and guide those in authority over us
19:16and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
19:25O Lord, save your people.
19:30O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance.
19:38Give peace in our time, O Lord,
19:42because there is none other who fights for us
19:45but only you, O God.
19:48O God, make clean our hearts within us
19:53and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
20:05Grant, O merciful God,
20:07that in the same way
20:09that your Holy Apostle St James,
20:12leaving his father
20:13and all that he had without delay,
20:16was obedient to the calling of your Son,
20:19Jesus Christ,
20:20and followed him.
20:21So we also,
20:24forsaking all worldly and carnal affection,
20:28may be evermore ready to follow
20:31your holy commandments.
20:33Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
20:36Amen.
20:46O God,
20:48from whom all holy desires,
20:50all good counsels,
20:52and all just works proceed,
20:55give to your servants that peace
20:57which the world cannot give,
21:00that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
21:04and also that, by you,
21:06we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
21:10may pass our time in rest and quietness.
21:14Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
21:18Amen.
21:30For the love of your only Son,
21:36our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
21:38Amen.
21:42Almighty God,
21:43who has given us grace at this time with one accord,
21:47to make our common supplications to you,
21:50and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
21:55you will grant their requests.
21:59Fulfill now, O Lord,
22:01the desires and petitions of your servants,
22:04as may be most beneficial for them,
22:08granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
22:12and in the world to come,
22:14life everlasting.
22:16Amen.
22:19With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
22:22and the love of God,
22:23and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
22:26be with us all evermore.
22:29Amen.
