04 July - National evening forecast presented by Liam Eslick.
Transcript
00:00Hello there.
00:01It has been a north-south split across the UK for today and that is going to continue
00:05for the next couple of days as things do start to heat up as we go through the coming week.
00:11It was quite wet across western Scotland through this afternoon but a lot of that rain has
00:15shifted its way southwards and starting to turn a little bit more patchy in nature just
00:19ahead of the second band that is moving in out towards the west.
00:23But further south it is staying dry, we do have some clear spells developing overnight
00:27as well and temperatures still feeling pretty mild.
00:31Around the mid-teens we could even see a 17 across Manchester way first thing on Sunday
00:36morning.
00:36So a pretty mild start to the second half of the weekend.
00:40Now we do want to keep an eye on this band of rain, it will drift its way eastwards through
00:44the morning.
00:46So again western Scotland seeing the heaviest of this rain and northern England for a time
00:51but it will slowly start to push its way eastwards and start to turn a bit more patchy through
00:55the afternoon.
00:57Aberdeenshire, Orkney and Shetland will see some dryness, even some sunnier spells further
01:01towards the north.
01:01But the best of the brightness is going to be across the south.
01:04So Wales, central England and those southern counties as well where again it will feel like
01:09another very warm day.
01:11Around the mid-twenties even getting up to 29 degrees in the far south east, a little bit
01:16cooler under that cloud and rain towards the north to end the weekend.
01:21Now as we head through the evening period that rain will just stick around for a little bit,
01:26moving its way towards Aberdeenshire for a time.
01:29But again starting to turn a little bit drier out towards the east and a lot of that rain
01:33does shift its way northwards and become more confined towards northern Scotland.
01:38Still got some heavier bursa here too.
01:40And that rain across northern England turning a little bit patchier as well.
01:44But again, overnight temperatures still pretty mild, mid-teens once again, 15s and 16s again
01:49at 17 across the very far south east to start the new week as well.
01:54But Monday is going to be quite similar to Sunday.
01:57Again, much of that rain is confined towards the north.
02:00So Northern Ireland, parts of southern Scotland and northern England will be much drier than
02:05what they saw over the last few days.
02:07But that rain still continuing for western Scotland and again Orkney and Shetland seeing
02:11some rain towards the afternoon as well.
02:13But for Wales, central England and southern England is going to be another bright and
02:18sunny day.
02:19And you'll see those temperatures are on the rise as well.
02:21So quite widely into those mid to high 20s, we're now starting to see 32 degrees across
02:27the very far south east as well.
02:29Again a bit cooler up towards the north.
02:31If we compare those temperatures to what we would expect for the time of year, again you'll
02:36see a bit of a split.
02:37So cooler than average across Scotland and northern England, about average for Northern Ireland.
02:43But it's across the south that we're seeing between 5 and 7 degrees above what we would
02:48expect for the start of July.
02:50Now that is going to be the theme going forward for the next couple of days as these temperatures
02:54slowly creep up towards Tuesday, Wednesday, even into Thursday where we are likely to reach
02:59the heat wave threshold criteria.
03:01But how long will this heat last and how long will it stick around for most places?
03:06Well for all of that, don't forget to head over towards our YouTube and subscribe.
03:09We'll see you next time.
03:10Bye.
