00:00Hi there. Finally, some parts of England, or Wales at least, have seen some rain through the day.
00:06There is a bit more to come, but a general drying up trend once again as we head into the
00:10weekend.
00:12One thing that's not changing so much is how the weather feels.
00:15We're not going back to a heat wave any time soon.
00:17We've got cooler winds coming all the way from the Arctic at the moment,
00:21and that means tonight it is going to be a cool night, if not chilly in one or two spots.
00:28So, unusual for this summer, but not so unusual in the grand scheme of things for the UK's summer climate.
00:35And there will be further showers to come at times.
00:39Northern Ireland, Wales, the south-west of England catching some of these overnight,
00:42perhaps a few rumbles of thunder around some of these Irish seacoasts,
00:46and some hail, one or two of the downpours.
00:49But eastern area is also seeing a few showers coming and going.
00:52It's in the middle of the country where we're likely to see the clearest skies.
00:56Temperatures falling away wherever you are.
00:59Teens just about viable in the south.
01:02Further north, single figures, and in some sheltered parts of northern England, Scotland,
01:07dipping down to the mid or even low single figures.
01:10So, certainly a fresh feel as we begin Friday.
01:14And there will be further showers.
01:15But to give you an idea of the variable nature of the showers,
01:18here's the 24-hour rain accumulations on Friday itself.
01:21The white areas are where very little rain is expected to fall.
01:25And you can see it's western Scotland, parts of north-west England,
01:28into the midlands, central-southern England.
01:31But it's the peripheries of the UK where we're likely to still see some showers,
01:34especially eastern parts of the UK.
01:36And more especially towards west and north Wales, the far south-west of England.
01:41Another day of fairly heavy downpours.
01:43And we start the day off with those showers across some of these western and south-western shores.
01:49Further showers tumbling down north seacoast.
01:52Perhaps some longer spells of rain for a time.
01:55But away from the showers, because not everyone will catch one,
01:58there will be some dry weather.
01:59Variable amounts of cloud.
02:01Sunny spells most likely western Scotland through the midlands.
02:05East Anglia later on, for example.
02:07Wherever you are, it is going to feel cool.
02:09Temperatures across the UK, below average by several degrees in places.
02:13We're talking about 13 to 15 degrees for some of these north-eastern coasts.
02:18And even in the south, where it has of course been so exceptionally hot during the summer,
02:23temperatures barely squeaking past 20 Celsius.
02:27So, feeling cool, particularly in the context of this summer so far.
02:32The showers will be coming and going through the day as well.
02:35They'll be fading a little as we go into the start of the weekend.
02:38Still a number around north-west Scotland, eastern coasts, north and west Wales for example.
02:43In between those clear skies, once again leading to a cold night in one or two spots.
02:49A widely cool night for many temperatures in the single figures across the United Kingdom,
02:56away from main urban centres in the south.
02:58We start the weekend then with that particularly fresh feel to things.
03:02Welcome news, I know, for many, not for all.
03:06Sunshine first thing, a lot of dry weather.
03:08Not entirely dry, there will be one or two showers, especially during the morning.
03:13And for north-west Scotland continuing through the day.
03:17Otherwise, into the afternoon, largely drying up once again.
03:21In the sunshine, out of the breeze, pleasant enough.
03:24But no heat wave.
03:26And also, with temperatures at 20 or 21 Celsius, another widely below average day.
03:32So again, not something we've seen much of.
03:34Now, those temperatures are going to be rising through Sunday and early next week,
03:38as high pressure stays with us for a time.
03:41But if you're after more rain, the good news is,
03:43there will be more of the wet stuff from the middle of next week.
03:47Much more on our YouTube channel.
03:49Bye-bye.
03:49Bye-bye.
03:49Bye-bye.
03:50Bye-bye.
