00:00Good evening. A drier spell of weather for the next 24 hours or so, all thanks to a ridge of
00:05high pressure.
00:06But wet and windy weather is on the way for the start of the weekend.
00:09But as this ridge of high pressure pushes in this evening, that will reduce most of the showers,
00:14but it's still going to be quite wet across parts of Scotland through much of the night.
00:18There's still a risk of the odd shower elsewhere, so not an entirely dry night,
00:22but certainly drier than it has been through much of today.
00:26The winds will fall a little bit lighter overnight as well,
00:29so that will allow temperatures to fall away a bit lower than they have done so far this week.
00:33So a slightly fresher start to the last day of the working week, but there'll be more sunshine around.
00:39And that's the story for much of the day on Friday.
00:42Not entirely dry, but certainly drier than it has been.
00:45I think across more northwestern areas, that's where we're most likely to see any showers,
00:48but eastern areas should escape most of the showers throughout Friday.
00:52There'll be more cloud across the west compared to the east,
00:55so it's going to feel warmer across eastern areas.
00:58Temperatures climbing towards the high teens, perhaps just into the 20s across the far southeast.
01:04But for most of us, with temperatures in the mid-teens, they're still a little bit below average,
01:08so you will want the benefit of the sunshine to feel any warmth at this time of year.
01:14Into the evening, on Friday evening, this area of low pressure wraps itself up around the southwest,
01:19bringing a very windy spell across southwestern areas.
01:22Through the early hours of Saturday, through much of Saturday, it will remain quite windy.
01:26Now, ahead of that, it is calmer, but there's a lot of cloud and some rain building up from the
01:31south,
01:32so it will be quite a damp start to the day on Saturday.
01:35That's away from the very far north of Scotland, but it's still a pretty cloudy picture here to start the
01:40weekend.
01:41So, an unsettled day to come on Saturday.
01:44This area of low pressure moves relatively slowly across the southwest, continuing to bring some quite windy weather.
01:50I think the worst of the rain pushes out the southwest into more northern areas through the bulk of the
01:55day,
01:55but there's some quite heavy showers in the wake of this area of low pressure as well.
02:00And it will remain windy into the afternoon too.
02:03So, it's going to be a bit of a disappointing day for a summer weekend.
02:07Temperature still just in the mid, possibly higher teens, but I think the wind is what you're really going to
02:11notice.
02:12It's worth taking note if you have got any outdoor plans planned in the southwest of the UK, parts of
02:18southwest Wales,
02:19Devon, Cornwall, those sorts of areas.
02:22But for most of us, an unsettled day on Saturday.
02:24But it does look better for Sunday for drier weather.
02:27A ridge of high pressure moves in for a time for many areas before into the start of next week.
02:32Well, there's further rain to come.
02:34But Aidan will have all the details for your full weekend forecast on our YouTube channel.
02:39So, why not check that out next?
02:40Bye-bye.
