Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good evening to you on this Wednesday evening where we do have
00:04a split in our weather. Brighter skies, central and southeastern areas, more clouds and rain
00:09across the north as well as the west. The air remains very mild into Thursday. We're
00:15likely to see the warmest day of the year. Temperatures peak in the high teens across
00:20the north before it turns cooler from the west. This cold front then delivers that clouds
00:25and some patchy rain towards south-southeastern areas. High pressure still involved in our
00:31weather through the weekend. We're chasing cloud even so. These weather fronts remain
00:35towards the north and the west with cloud here. Now through this evening and overnight you can
00:41see where the clearer skies are, mostly England and Wales. Cloud and outbreaks of rain for
00:46Northern Ireland, Western Scotland and some showery bursts for Orkney and Shetland. Notice
00:52a breeze coming up from the south, mixing the air up. That canopy of clouds keeping
00:57temperatures up as well. It will be a wet end to the night for Northern Ireland, Central
01:01and Western areas of Scotland with fragments of rain just edging its way eastwards across
01:06Scotland. Across England and Wales, temperatures dipping down to 4, 5, 6 degrees Celsius, even
01:12lower than that in the countryside. So a bit chilly for some as we enter the day on Thursday.
01:17But across England and Wales, some sunny spells coming through. Now through the day, this
01:22area of cloud and rain is slow moving across Northern Ireland, Central and Western areas
01:28of Scotland. The cloud spills ahead of it, Angus, Aberdeenshire, down towards Northumberland
01:34at times and Cumbria. And more cloud for Wales as well as the west country with some
01:38showery bursts arriving later. Brighter skies for mid Wales across towards eastern counties
01:44where temperatures could peak around 19 degrees Celsius, feeling pleasantly warm in that sunshine.
01:50Whereas in contrast, the cloud will keep temperatures lower across Scotland, Northern Ireland and
01:55Northern England. Notice this rain through Thursday evening is making inroads eastwards.
02:01It could break up at times, even so some wet weather around. But notice towards the west,
02:06clearer skies and also the chance of a fairly widespread frost for Northern Ireland,
02:11as well as much of Scotland. So notice first thing on Friday morning. Here's that band of rain.
02:18It's covering still the south of Scotland, much of Northern England. Wales, it comes and goes towards
02:24the west country and clouds spilling ahead of it, keeping temperatures slightly higher. But it will be
02:29a cold start to the day across much of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland, but with some sunshine.
02:35Winds still brisk across the outer Hebrides, but a lighter breeze inland across Scotland. So a pleasant
02:42day if you can wrap up warm first thing, and there are no temperatures rising through the morning into
02:47the afternoon. At the same time, this band of weakening rain will continue to slowly edge towards
02:55eastern counties of England, as well as the north there. So Pennine district seeing a little rain,
03:01and the clouds could be thick enough further south for spits and spots. But there is a back edge to
03:07it.
03:07So for West Wales, the west country later on in the day, you could see some brighter skies emerging,
03:12and certainly some sunshine across Northern Ireland, as well as Scotland. Again, it's the Western Isles
03:19with a bit of a brisk breeze, certainly for the outer Hebrides and more on the way of clouds here.
03:23But we
03:23should see the sun come out across Shetland as well as Orkney. Now temperatures through the afternoon,
03:30still 12 or 13 towards the southeast. But behind that cold front, temperatures will be lower,
03:369, 10, 11 degrees Celsius. Now for more details of the deep dive and also the 10-day trend, check
