13 June - National morning forecast presented by Alex Burkill.
Transcript
00:00We've made it to the weekend and the weather has a bit of a treat in store for most of
00:05us
00:05with something a bit quieter compared to what many of us have had during the week.
00:10That being said, it's not totally dry across northern areas, particularly Scotland.
00:14We have some blustery, showery weather, but further south is high pressure that's going to be dominating our weather
00:19and that's going to become more widespread through the weekend.
00:23But looking at the rest of today, and yes, a showery picture across much of Scotland
00:27and some of those showers pushing in across parts of Northern Ireland and the far north of England.
00:31Worth noting, some of them could be quite heavy in parts of northwest Scotland in particular,
00:36though less likely to see as much thunder as some of us have had during the week.
00:40Also some blustery winds here.
00:41Much lighter winds further south across the bulk of England and Wales,
00:45it's actually looking like a largely fine day and temperatures should rise to around or a bit above average for
00:50the time of year.
00:51Some places getting to highs of 22, 23, maybe 24 Celsius perhaps.
00:55A fair bit fresher than this further north and with those showers and the blustery winds,
01:00it's going to feel fresher as well.
01:02Worth noting that we do have some high or even very high levels of UV through today,
01:07particularly towards southern coastal areas.
01:09So if you are going to be making the most of the sunshine, make sure you do so safely.
01:14More showers to come through the end of the day across Scotland and a few for northern England.
01:18But with that high pressure towards the south building and becoming more dominant,
01:21we are going to see most of those showers clearing away just some eastern areas.
01:26Continuing to see a few showers through the early hours of tomorrow morning.
01:30Then we also have a bit of cloud, a little bit of rain perhaps across parts of Northern Ireland,
01:34but most areas turning dry with clear skies.
01:37Temperatures not dropping a huge amount, but lighter winds and clear skies.
01:41Compared to some recent nights, it may be a touch fresher.
01:44Still most towns and cities holding up in double digits.
01:46But yeah, some places will drop into single figures.
01:49A mostly bright start to the day on Sunday, however.
01:52Watch out for some murkiness.
01:53Could be some mist and fog, particularly towards the southwest,
01:56but that will burn away quite quickly.
01:58And then we do still just have this swathe of cloud across parts of Northern Ireland,
02:02feeding into parts of Wales and central England.
02:04But the detail on this, well, a little bit unconfident about.
02:08But nonetheless, it could be a bit cloudier for some central southern parts of England and Wales
02:12compared to today.
02:14A different story, though, for Scotland.
02:16Apart from one or two showers towards the east, it's looking dry.
02:19And a good deal of sunshine here, much sunnier than today.
02:23And with that, then, temperatures rising.
02:24High teens, low 20s perhaps for some parts of Scotland.
02:27And again, we're looking at temperatures in the low to mid 20s for some towards the south.
02:32With the more settled weather, one thing we do need to be aware of are pollen levels
02:36because they are rising.
02:38We're going to see some very high pollen levels,
02:40particularly across southern parts of England and across Wales.
02:43That's not good news for hay fever sufferers.
02:45We're well into grass pollen season, which is what the majority of hay fever sufferers are affected by.
02:51Into next week.
02:52And Monday actually looks largely fine.
02:54Still that high pressure dominating.
02:55But more changeable, unsettled weather set to arrive by the middle of the week.
03:00But we are also set to have a bit of a southerly flow.
03:03So that's going to bring warmer air in from the south.
03:05So expect our temperatures to rise by the end of the week.
03:08It could actually be hot in some places.
03:10But we'll keep you updated about that with more information on exactly just how temperatures are going to rise through
03:16this week
03:17across our YouTube channel through the next few days.
03:19Bye-bye.
