00:00Hello, whilst heatwave number three has been affecting some southern and southeastern parts
00:07of the UK as we begin the new week, other more northern parts haven't experienced anything
00:13approaching a heatwave just yet. However, the high pressure that is bringing plenty
00:19of hot sunshine in the south, well that's going to develop more widely from midweek.
00:23Initially we still have weather fronts running into Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern
00:26England to bring thicker, cloudier outbreaks of rain. But from Wednesday, as high pressure
00:32builds more widely across the UK, those weather fronts become more confined to the far north
00:36and northwest of Scotland, with drier, brighter and warmer weather arriving across the rest
00:42of the UK. Before that happens, we still have rain to talk about for the north of Scotland
00:48and it will be heavy and persistent at first, especially over the north of the mainland,
00:52so for Caithness and Sutherland, but it eases later in the night at the same time as it
00:57sinks south into the rest of western and southwestern Scotland. Drier to the east of Scotland, Northern
01:04Ireland seeing one or two spots of rain into the north and west, a good deal of cloud.
01:08Cloudier skies also for the north and west of England, Wales with the cloud lowering and
01:13settling over the hills, so some mistiness first thing Tuesday. A warm night whether you've
01:18got the cloud or the clear spells and temperatures fairly widely staying in the mid-teens. But
01:25we start the day on Tuesday with grey skies in many places and mist and murk, some damp weather
01:31around mostly this northwestern area of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Increasingly, the cloud
01:39further south will lift and break. It will tend to disappear with Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia
01:44in the south, seeing hot sunshine once again into the afternoon. Cloudier skies remain further north,
01:49but something a little brighter for Northern Ireland, Northern England, central and southern
01:53Scotland compared with recent days. And the rain in the north of Scotland tends to peter away into
01:58the afternoon, becoming more fragmented, more showery in nature. So a drier and brighter end for
02:04the north of the UK compared with Monday. And for the south, another day of hot sunshine,
02:11high 20s widely, 30, 31, perhaps 32 Celsius in some of the hotter spots focused towards London and the
02:19south east. So still, yes, technically a heat wave, but nowhere near as hot and as humid as the spell
02:26that
02:26we saw at the end of June. Then into the start of Wednesday, we've still had a lot of cloud
02:31across
02:31Northern England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, still some outbreaks of mostly light and persistent
02:36rain for the northwest of Scotland. Another warm night to come, less cloudy for Wales and the west
02:42of England. Temperatures here a degree or so up compared with the previous night, 16 to 18 Celsius.
02:48That gets us off to another very warm start for much of England and Wales, some reasonable sunshine
02:54also for Northern England compared with recent days. Northern Ireland, brightening skies as well as for
02:59central and eastern Scotland. So on the whole, as this high pressure migrates its way northwards,
03:03a fine day as expected for the vast majority on Wednesday. Still some thicker cloud in the far
03:08north and northwest of Scotland, some light patchy rainfall, a stronger breeze here. But elsewhere,
03:14it's simply a bright and dry afternoon and increasingly warm, if not hot. We're talking about
03:21widely the low to mid-20s, anywhere from Southern Scotland through to Northern Ireland, much of England
03:26and Wales. High 20s, low 30s in the hotter spots across central and southern UK. And by the end of
03:34the week, we could be seeing 34, perhaps 35 Celsius in the very hottest areas. So again, a few degrees
03:42down
03:43compared with the last heat wave at the end of June. And notably, humidity levels will be lower,
03:48so not quite as uncomfortable, but still notably high temperatures for the time of year. And this hot
03:56spell could be notable for its duration, lasting into the weekend and perhaps beyond. Much more on
04:02our YouTube channel, as always. Bye-bye.
