00:00Mary Kay Cabot, she appears on the Wise Heart Right, We Make It Right, called Kyle Wright
00:05Hotline.
00:06Mary Kay, let's cut the pleasantries right out of here.
00:11Is Miles Garrett going to be a Cleveland Brown week one of this NFL season?
00:17Yes, I really do believe so.
00:19Yeah!
00:20Whoa!
00:21Yeah!
00:23Well, that'll put the speculation to bed.
00:25Well, no, remember, because everybody, when she writes about quarterbacks,
00:29she doesn't know what she's talking about.
00:31Okay, well, now does she know what she's talking about?
00:34Mary Kay, I'm going to take what you said, and I'm going to run with it.
00:36I don't run very fast, but I'm going to run with it.
00:39Well, I just really believe that when they've told us over and over
00:44that he's a career Brown and that they're not trading him
00:47and that they expect him to come here and have a great season,
00:51I'm going to take them at their word for that.
00:54But now having said that, there has to be a little bit of a caveat.
00:58I suppose there is a world, you can never say never in these situations,
01:03because if someone came along and made them an incredible offer
01:08that they couldn't refuse, perhaps they would consider it.
01:11But at this moment in time, I just don't see that happening.
01:15Mary Kay, they do seem annoyed that every chance they get,
01:18they're being asked about it.
01:19And, you know, we're sitting here, admittedly, we are trying to parse
01:23every subject, every predicate, any type of response,
01:28the body language, their eye movement.
01:31We're looking for tells.
01:32It would be very easy for, like, Miles Garrett or the coaches
01:37to come out and discuss the types of communication they're truly having.
01:42They seem to want to dance around it.
01:44That's what is bizarre to us.
01:47Well, when I asked Todd point blank the nature of his communication
01:52with Miles Garrett at the voluntary minicamp in April,
01:56and he said they've exchanged a couple of text messages so far.
01:59But at that time, he also said, you guys are making a big deal out of this.
02:03This is not a big deal.
02:05We know Miles.
02:06We know he'll be here and be ready to play.
02:08Now, all you have to do is look at Miles' Instagram
02:11to see that he's been traveling most of the offseason.
02:14I think he's in Korea right now, and, you know, he's been all over the place.
02:19He spent a lot of time in Asia with his girlfriend, Chloe.
02:21They filmed a commercial.
02:23So Miles is off doing Miles Garrett type of things,
02:26but it didn't prevent him last year from winning NFL Defensive Player of the Year,
02:32from setting the SAC record.
02:33They're not worried about it.
02:35So I just don't think that there's trade winds blowing with Miles Garrett right now.
02:41I think he'll be here.
02:42Do you think, though, Mary Kay, that in this era where these athletes do podcasts
02:48or they could just go on social media, I mean, he could make all this disappear
02:52with one 15-second clip that would take him exactly 15 seconds to upload and produce.
02:59Like, do you think he enjoys the fact that the national publications and first take
03:05and the debate shows that they're all using this and shows like this for fodder?
03:10Because he could make it disappear so fast.
03:13Well, he definitely moves the needle, and he is definitely going to be a national topic of conversation.
03:19He always has been, especially after, you know, the very public trade demand back at the Super Bowl that year.
03:27So he definitely does bring a lot of national attention.
03:31But, you know, again, he's out doing his own thing, and he does things his own way.
03:36And maybe he doesn't mind some speculation.
03:39Maybe he doesn't mind some of the attention.
03:42I'm not really too sure about that.
03:43We haven't had a chance to ask him.
03:45But when I see him out there doing Miles stuff, he's taking photos, like I said, in Asia.
03:53He's enjoying award ceremonies and doing some celebrity stuff.
03:58I think he's living his life.
03:59I don't think he's on social media every day wondering, you know, what ESPN is saying about him.
04:04I just don't think that that's Miles.
04:07Mary Kay Cabot joining us on the show.
04:09Your thoughts about Deshaun Watson.
04:12Listen, I just got rid of your tweet.
04:15It was about Deshaun Watson in 2024.
04:17Can you give us the headline again, Mary Kay?
04:20I'm sorry.
04:21Well, basically, I wrote a column yesterday saying why his arm looks so much better right now than it did
04:29in 2024.
04:29I talked to an orthopedic surgeon who has worked for an NFL team in the not-too-distant past
04:37and has performed all kinds of surgeries like this.
04:40And he said absolutely 100%.
04:43Now, he hasn't operated on Deshaun.
04:45But he said a player, a quarterback who has undergone fractured shoulder surgery and torn labrum surgery
04:53isn't necessarily going to look like himself in the nine months after that surgery.
04:57But now that he's been two and a half years out and he also had another year off to rest
05:02the arm last year,
05:03it just looks so much better.
05:04You guys can see the clips, I'm sure, on YouTube of Deshaun hitting the long ball.
05:10He's got more velocity on the ball.
05:11He did not trust that arm in 2024.
05:14I was there at the Greenbrier one day, and this didn't go over well.
05:18But I watched him not be able to hit a net, a pocket in a net, 25 yards out.
05:23He left it short.
05:24And he cut his practice short that day.
05:27And when I wrote about it, like I said, that didn't go over well with probably him and the team.
05:33But he wasn't himself in 2024.
05:36He was never himself in 2023 with the arm and the shoulder because that started way back in week three.
05:42So that year was kind of a wash.
05:45And then you fast forward to 2024, and he still didn't have it.
05:49He didn't have any confidence in the arm at all.
05:51And that wasn't the only problem in 2024.
05:54They didn't have an offensive line.
05:55They didn't have their offensive tackles.
05:57They didn't have David Njoku.
05:58Amari Cooper wanted out.
06:00Gary Judy didn't practice in training camp very much.
06:03They had a new offense being installed that nobody really kind of got or understood or practiced.
06:09And it was just a recipe for disaster.
06:13So this year, things are much better for him and around him, including the arm strength.
06:20Mary Kay Cabot joining us here on the show.
06:23So is he – I know they won't confirm who's the leader in the clubhouse to be the starter.
06:28Do you believe that he is the leader to be the starter, or are we up in the air still?
06:33I do believe that he is the leader in the clubhouse right now.
06:36That's what it looks like when we look out there at practice, and that's what it looks
06:40like based on the performance of the two quarterbacks, Deshaun and Shador.
06:44But here's the thing to remember about Shador Sanders.
06:47Shador is a gamer.
06:49Shador plays on natural instincts.
06:52When the game – when the lights are on and it's time for him to march downfield in a
06:57two-minute situation, he gets in a zone, and he lets his natural instincts take over.
07:03And that's why you saw him be able to perform pretty well in some clutch situations last
07:09year, despite the fact that he had never thrown to most of these players, and the fact that
07:14he didn't have much protection, and that the line was held together with smoke and mirrors.
07:19So he's not necessarily going to excel or shine in these type of practice settings, because
07:26this isn't when you get into that zone, when you get into that rhythm.
07:30So my guess is that they will set a QB depth chart, maybe coming out of minicamp, maybe
07:37even going into minicamp.
07:38Not sure about that.
07:40But just because you set your QB depth chart doesn't mean that that is going to be your
07:46opening day starter.
07:47So I think this is going to happen in phases.
07:49I think a QB depth chart will be set just so you can have your ones working together in
07:54camp.
07:55But then you still have an opportunity to go out there in joint practices against the
07:59Bills, in preseason games, and state your case.
08:02So I just don't even think it's going to be over when the QB depth chart is set.
08:07Well, I think that's very interesting, because I've said all along that I thought it was going
08:11to be really hard for Shador with a new coaching staff.
08:16And this type of time frame that we know that wasn't set in stone, but was something offered
08:22up by the new head coach about wanting to have, you know, his depth chart decided, hopefully
08:27by June.
08:28And you just said Shador is a gamer, but if he doesn't get the opportunities in the games,
08:34then we're just relying on practice and mastery of a playbook.
08:37And that was always going to be to Deshaun Watson's edge.
08:42Well, he, Deshaun does show out well in these types of situations because of his athleticism
08:49and his athleticism is really on display in these practices.
08:53And also just his experience, his mastery of just NFL football.
08:59I mean, you're talking about a first round, a former first round pick versus, you know,
09:04who has started numerous games versus a young quarterback who is still in the developmental
09:09phase.
09:10So naturally Deshaun is going to look better in this setting.
09:14He moves better.
09:15He makes very, very quick decisions and he just looks the part, but that doesn't mean
09:20that this thing once again is going to be over, like I said, because the thing about
09:24Shador is that he steps up when he gets in that zone.
09:28I saw it so many times last year, even in games, and he didn't have necessarily the right
09:36infrastructure to perform as well as he might have if he had better receivers and a better
09:42offensive line.
09:43But there was still something about him.
09:45He had the it factor.
09:46He had the it factor.
09:48And sometimes that it factor doesn't show up until the lights come on.
09:51If Brendan Soresby doesn't get his injunction and has to go to the supplemental draft, how
09:56interested are the Browns in him right now?
10:00It's tough to say.
10:01I do not know how interested they are.
10:03I do know that they did plenty of due diligence on him for last year's draft because there was
10:08a chance he was going to come out.
10:09So I've written this.
10:11I've said this.
10:11I know that they have a book on him so far.
10:16And what they will need to do if he goes into the supplemental draft is update their
10:21evaluation on him.
10:23But they already have one, so they would not be starting from scratch.
10:26What they'll have to determine, and this is a big, big thing to have to deal with, do
10:33you think that he's going to stay gamble-free or whatever you would say in a gambling addiction
10:38situation?
10:39Do they think that he can remain clean in that way?
10:43And I think right now, a lot, a lot of young guys are struggling in this nature because
10:49we have put gambling, of course, right at their fingertips every single day.
10:54And it's hard.
10:55I'm sure it's very, very difficult to overcome something like this.
11:01And, you know, who knows if he's going to be able to do it.
11:05So this is different than any other supplemental draft case.
11:09And they're really going to have to think long and hard about it.
11:12Yeah.
11:13I just know, Mary Kay, when I've heard like Albert Breer come on and say he could be top
11:17five next year or would have been.
11:19And it gets a little while watching the video intoxicating.
11:23Like his video looks better, in my opinion, and what do I know, but looks better than
11:27Mendoza.
11:28And he went number one overall this year.
11:29You know, the different arm angles looks to have that deep ball.
11:33Now, he did not finish well the last four games of the season.
11:37He would have been playing with a lot more talent, obviously, the following year, had
11:41the Texas Tech thing come to fruition.
11:43So I understand, too, that, hey, you wouldn't have to tank for him.
11:46If you took him in the supplemental, you would not have to tank.
11:49You wouldn't have to sit here and celebrate losses because it got you closer.
11:52What if you don't know if he's good?
11:53I mean, as a fan, what do you don't know if he's good?
11:55Well, fans don't know if anybody's good.
11:57Yeah, they do.
11:57We all hope.
11:58They all have feelings if they have a guy who knows a guy's good.
12:01Do they believe that he's going to be that great?
12:04I don't know if Mary Kay wants to hear us argue and pick her about this.
12:06She wants to take part in the interview.
12:08We've argued a picker many times, many times in front of Mary Kay.
12:09We tell her to come on and give her insight, and we talk all over her.
12:12All right.
12:13Let me interrupt here for a minute.
12:15You can talk amongst yourselves when I'm gone.
12:19Just kidding.
12:20But I do think that I personally think that it probably would be a risk worth taking
12:27in terms of some kind of a draft pick because you're not selling out millions
12:33and millions and millions of dollars.
12:35It's a low financial risk, and maybe you can get the guy in the building
12:40and then really determine how he's going to do from a gambling standpoint.
12:45And this has always been a team of second chances.
12:48Andrew Barry is a general manager of second chances.
12:51We all know that by now.
12:53So, you know, why not take one on this young man and maybe get him in your building
12:58and just see what might the situation be with his off-the-field issue.
13:05Joel Batonio, is he coming back?
13:09You know, the longer it goes, it seems to me probably not, but I don't know for sure.
13:14Everyone's in lockdown on this.
13:15We can't get anybody to say anything.
13:17Nobody's really heard from Joel.
13:20So, I'm guessing the answer to that is no, but I can't say that definitively.
13:26Yeah, whatever happened to him?
13:28Danny, I thought we would have some of this ironed out by now.
13:32Do you think there's a chance he's...
13:33Your offensive guard, Joel, whatever happened there?
13:36Do you think there's a chance he's maybe waiting for how some of these guys do?
13:40He'll stay in shape, see if there's an injury to a contender,
13:44somebody on the offensive line and kind of latch on then
13:47and have a chance to win a Super Bowl?
13:49Maybe.
13:50That could happen.
13:51Stranger things have happened than someone spending their whole entire career
13:55with a football team and then finishing up somewhere else.
13:59Even some of the greatest players in the NFL have done that.
14:02So, I wouldn't be shocked if he still wants to go play somewhere if it's not here
14:08because last year he showed me that he had plenty left in the tank.
14:11I thought he had a really, really nice season.
14:13And maybe he's not ready to give it up yet.
14:16All right, we were debating who gets to ask the question.
14:18But this is a good one.
14:19This is a fun one.
14:20Travis Kelsey, would you have more interest in seeing him finish his career
14:24with the Cleveland Browns or do what happened over the last 24 hours,
14:30which was confirmed that he is now a minority owner of the Cleveland Guardians?
14:38Well, I like the fact that he's a minority owner of the Cleveland Guardians,
14:42especially because it sort of brings Taylor Swift into the mix.
14:48And, you know, I think that's good for Cleveland when you have celebrities of that caliber
14:54that are interested, that shine a positive light on Cleveland.
14:59So, I think I would probably have him in the minority owner realm more so than the tight end of
15:05the Cleveland Browns realm.
15:06Ken can do the champions pose.
15:07One final question for me, Mary Kay, and this is hard hitting.
15:11And just based on what I saw at the Cavs games, those final two home games,
15:15would you go with being more starstruck for Kylie Jenner or Taylor Swift if you saw them in person?
15:23Oh, that's a good one.
15:25I would say Taylor Swift just because of everything that she's accomplished in her career.
15:29And she's one of the greatest of all time from, and she spans a number of generations or eras, might
15:37I say.
15:38So, I would just say Taylor Swift because there are not many that can match what she's accomplished.
15:43Well, the thing is, I don't even know what Kylie Jenner, I don't know what Kylie Jenner looks like.
15:48So, hand to God, I know who Taylor Swift is, but I don't know, and I know who Kylie, I've
15:52heard the name.
15:54I can't name a single song that Taylor Swift sings.
15:58I just know I've heard it before.
15:59You belted out one of the lyrics yesterday.
16:02Oh my God, look at that face, you look like, that's the one I know of.
16:07What's that song, Mary Kay?
16:10Let me tell a quick funny story.
16:11Yeah, go ahead.
16:12Our photographer was saying that, you know, they were banning people from taking photos of Kylie at the game, or
16:20at least trying to prevent that.
16:22She's a model!
16:24He was trying to take pictures of Timothee Chalamet, and when they were stopping him from taking pictures of Kylie,
16:32he was like, well, I don't even know who she is.
16:33So, I thought that was really funny, because, you know, he just didn't even know who she was, and told
16:40that to the guard that was trying to prevent those photos.
16:44Mary Kay, thank you so much.
16:45You're absolutely wonderful.
16:47And it's not just because, it is mostly because you told me what I wanted to hear.
16:52Thank you so much.
16:53Thank you, guys.
16:54Take care.
16:55Mary Kay, on the Wise Heart Right, We Make It Right, Call Call Right Hotline.
16:59Who do you think has more Twitter, Instagram followers, Taylor Swift, or Kylie Jenner?
17:04Probably the Jenner.
17:05It's unbelievable.
17:06Yeah.
17:06Because 382 million, Taylor Swift has 273.
17:09It's not even a fair fight.
17:13Whatever.
17:14I don't know.
17:15I really don't.
17:15Like, I don't have a problem with that Chalamet fella.
17:17Oh, and the women in your life, do they follow Kylie, or do they follow Taylor?
17:22Taylor.
17:23I don't know.
17:24My daughters might follow Kylie more.
17:25I don't know.
17:26What does Kylie Jenner do?
17:27She's a model.
17:29Does she act?
17:31A lot of modeling.
17:32Does she act?
17:33I don't think so.
17:34I don't know.
17:34She doesn't sing.
17:35Why are you asking me?
17:36I don't know.
17:36Don't make me sing.
17:37She doesn't sing.
17:38She acts like she enjoys basketball sitting next to Timothee Chalamet.
17:41Oh, my God.
17:41Look at that face.
17:42She don't like basketball?
17:43I don't know.
17:44You're sitting courtside.
17:45You've got to enjoy some basketball.
17:47She has showed up to all these games.
17:49I'll give her that.
17:49Good for her.
17:50I tell you what, I've got nothing wrong with that.
17:52I can't name a single thing that guy's in, but I'm telling you right now, there's so many
17:56of those celebrities.
17:57Do you know anything?
17:58No, I don't.
17:59He's been in like 10 big movies over the last three years.
18:02He's been in a movie about the guy with the nasally singing.
18:05I watched The Road to Wellville last Saturday morning.
18:08And I don't, there's a lot of things that I'm getting stuck in the past on, brother.
18:12But no, I don't know anything the guy's in.
18:15I respect him because he seems like an actual sports fan, not one of these fake celebrities
18:19that glom onto a team just so it suits their PR.
18:23Like, would he, remember that segment he was on on ESPN?
18:26He knew this college football.
18:28He knew that.
18:29So he seems like an actual sports fan.
18:31Seems fine.
18:31I think I've got no problem with that guy.
18:32All right, I'm going to look up Timothee Chalamet movies.
18:36Timothee or Timothee?
18:37Timothee Chalamet movies.
18:38Timothee signed that big contract after the Cats.
18:41He wears that hat.
