00:00You know, Myles Garrett is a pretty good baseball fan.
00:03I wonder what team he'll be attending later on this summer.
00:07Will he be attending games in Cleveland?
00:09Will he be attending games in Texas?
00:13I've never asked him who his baseball team is.
00:16Yeah, I don't know where his allegiances lie in that regard.
00:26We know LeBron has been very flexible about his one year.
00:29One year he's a Yankees fan.
00:31The next year he's an Indian slash Guardians fan.
00:34So, yeah, I don't know where Myles Garrett's baseball allegiance is.
00:38We know where his basketball allegiance is.
00:41That's the Cavaliers.
00:42Yes.
00:42He also owns part of the team.
00:44That helps.
00:45Yeah, that does inform that allegiance.
00:48But, yeah, I don't know if he's a big baseball fan or a Guardians fan
00:55or maybe he roots for the hometown Rangers or Astros.
01:00Does the tweaking of his contract make you think, uh-oh, very, very tradable,
01:08getting ready to trade him?
01:09Or is this just something that they did for some reason that doesn't make sense
01:14other than for trying to get him to maybe be ready for a trade?
01:17Yeah, I, uh, just when I was, uh, all over the national media, the podcasters,
01:27the aggregators, over all of these unrealistic Myles Garrett trade scenarios,
01:33the Browns turn around and do this now.
01:36Yeah.
01:37Uh, and so I have to go from can we stop talking about the Browns trading Myles
01:42Garrett because they're not going to trade Myles Garrett to now, after really
01:46looking at this, I'm like, um, yeah, his days could be numbered.
01:52They very well could be trading him at some point, whether it's this year or next
01:56year.
01:57But, like, you know, moving that bonus the way they did instead of after the new
02:03league year, but now before the season, it just, it makes the contract easier to
02:09trade.
02:09And I don't know that they were under any obligation to change that payment
02:17structure the way they did.
02:19So, um, you know, that obviously benefits the Browns and, and makes the contract a
02:25little more tradable more so than given them like any type of immediate salary cap
02:31relief.
02:31So, um, it, it's very interesting.
02:34The timing of it, it's very interesting that the Browns have this wild proposal to
02:40extend the draft pick, uh, trade window from three to five years that it's all
02:49coincidental right now.
02:50Is it though?
02:51Is it?
02:51Yep.
02:52No, I, I, I have to, I mean, the Browns are saying they're not trading Myles
02:55Garrett.
02:55Now, if I, as I posted today, I, if I had a dollar for every time that, you know,
03:00was said, and then said player ended up being traded, uh, I'd be rich.
03:05Uh, so you take that with a grain of salt.
03:08You know, I heard Mary Kay Cabot on with Ken and Anthony this morning and she
03:11stressed that they, you know, they have no interest in trading him, uh, you know,
03:15right now.
03:16And I think that the key words there are right now, uh, that doesn't mean that things
03:20can't change here in the coming weeks and months.
03:23Um, but I, I think that it's more, more likely than not.
03:29He plays this season here and they trade him next year.
03:34But again, the way that things restructured, it at least opens the possibility, uh, as far
03:40as making it easier on the Browns to trade him, uh, at some point, uh, this summer.
03:47Darrell, is there any way the Browns, uh, request to change the rule from, you know, only being
03:55able to trade three years out to only being able to trade five years out?
03:59Does that pass?
04:00Is there any chance that passes?
04:03Well, typically drastic changes like that don't pass on the first go round.
04:09Um, and I suspect that's going to be the case here.
04:13Uh, I don't think it'll pass next week at the owner's meetings.
04:17That's not to say that in the future, a proposal like that doesn't pass.
04:22Um, but it is a very interesting proposal, uh, from the Browns.
04:29Uh, but I also suspect that that's also done independence of the, the miles Garrett conversation
04:36or whatever.
04:37I do believe that the motive behind that is to give teams similar, a similar luxury to
04:46what you have in the NBA, right?
04:48Where, and we see teams do this all the time where like the Browns had to give up three
04:53straight years of first round draft picks to get to Sean Watson.
04:56Well, what if you could still give up three number one draft picks or three first round
05:00draft picks, I should say, but you space it over five years.
05:03We'll give you this year's we'll give you, uh, 28 and we'll give you a 30, right?
05:10So it's every other year you get our first rounder, which then eases the pain for the
05:16organization making that trade, right?
05:18And giving up that type of draft capital.
05:20But, um, and also to gives you an opportunity to do something really ridiculous and stupid
05:26and trade five straight first round draft picks.
05:28But, uh, I do think that maybe that's, that's more of the motive behind it is to allow teams
05:34to spread out, uh, you know, those draft picks over a five-year period rather than just a
05:40condensed three-year period.
05:41It'll, in, in some respects, I think it'll do less damage to a team that's in like a
05:45rebuilding mode type thing, but also at the same time, there's equal risk that you could
05:50do tremendous damage to a rebuild, especially if you're missing on picks and you don't have
05:55any first rounders, right?
05:57Amen.
05:57Um, yeah, I mean, we, we see where the Browns are right now in their team building process.
06:01And a big reason why is because they gave up those six draft picks to the Houston Texans
06:07for Deshaun Watson.
06:08Daryl Ryder joining us.
06:10He's brought to us by Shiven Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
06:13We've had two very respected football reporters on the station recently give different percentages
06:19on Shadur Sanders starting next year.
06:22Albert Breer from SI said 30% chance that he's the starter.
06:25Mary Kay Cabot this morning said 60% chance.
06:29What does Daryl Ryder say?
06:31I'm trying to remember what I told the afternoon guys yesterday because they asked me and I
06:35want to, I want to be consistent because I know if I'm not, they're going to come after
06:38me today for not being consistent.
06:39Oh, who cares?
06:41Just try to be as consistent as you can.
06:43I think I said, uh, 55, 45, I think.
06:48Um, 55 Shadur.
06:49No, 55 Deshaun, 45 Shadur.
06:52Okay.
06:53Or maybe I said 60 Deshaun, 40, uh, Shadur.
06:56So pretty close.
06:57Pretty close 50-50.
06:59Yeah.
06:59Yeah.
06:59I mean, I think right now because, uh, I look, Deshaun's going to look great in practice.
07:04Let's just concede that right now.
07:06Okay.
07:07He looks good on the, the Instagram right now doing the, you know, doing his workouts that,
07:12uh, he's been showing folks.
07:14He looks healthy.
07:16He looks agile.
07:16He looks athletic, all the things, right?
07:20Uh, but we know what happens when he gets on the field with the defense after missing
07:26significant time.
07:27And this is a guy, again, that's played 19 games, uh, uh, over six years.
07:33Okay.
07:34Including missing two full seasons, uh, and also to miss an 11 games due to suspension,
07:43multiple, uh, ruptured Achilles, and then a, uh, broken shoulder too.
07:49Right.
07:49So he has missed significant time each of the last six years.
07:55I have no expectation.
07:56He's going to be any good when he gets on the field.
07:58That's why I'm not interested in the Deshaun Watson thing.
08:00But right now, uh, you know, I think he's the leader in the clubhouse until Shador Sanders
08:07comes and takes that job from him.
08:10You see any, uh, you see any trade possibilities at wide receiver?
08:16Is that what, is that what the, we're just kind of sitting around waiting.
08:20Okay.
08:21Andrew, what, what might you do there?
08:22Clearly they'll draft somebody, but you think there's a trade that's brewing that could really
08:29help that group?
08:30No, I, I, not for wide receiver one.
08:34Okay.
08:34I think that they are standing firm to their infusion of talent is going to come through
08:43the draft and they've got great draft picks to do this, right?
08:47You've got six, 24, 36, right out of the gate.
08:50You've got five of the top 107 picks.
08:54So, and also, by the way, it's cheaper to do that.
08:57You don't have to give up draft capital.
08:58You have managed rookie contracts, right?
09:01Like, so that's where the Browns are at right now.
09:04So now could they trade for a receiver?
09:06Absolutely.
09:07Jeff, I'm not going to sit here and say, yeah, no, no, there's no way they're not trading
09:10for a receiver.
09:11That's always on the table.
09:13Andrew Barry loves trading for receivers.
09:15But like right now, just looking at the situation, we are almost in April.
09:20They've not made any moves when it comes, significant moves, I should say, when it comes to the skill
09:25positions and upgrading the roster.
09:27I think the infusion of talent, they are set on doing that in the draft.
09:34Okay.
09:35Thank you, bud.
09:36We appreciate your time, as always.
09:37Thanks, Daryl.
09:38Hope that hair is looking good.
09:39We're watching you on YouTube.
09:41It's the best thing on me right now is my hair.
09:44That's about it.
09:46Feeling solid about that.
09:47I'm going to leave that alone.
09:48Unlike maybe some people that might be in the room with you right now there, Andy.
09:52Wow!
09:53Some people are blessed with follicles.
09:55Others have charm and class, Daryl.
09:58Well, and you know what, Jeff?
09:59You get no argument there from me.
10:02Enjoy your day, my friend.
10:03Goodbye, Daryl.
10:03You bet, guys.
10:04Take care.
