00:00There's not a huge amount of rain to come for many of us through the next few days.
00:04Yes, there'll be some fog, but it is looking largely dry.
00:07That's because we have high pressure firmly in control.
00:10There is a frontal system out in the west, but it's been blocked by that high,
00:14so it won't make huge progress across the country.
00:17Not really until, well, more so the weekend that we'll start to see it bringing some rain
00:21across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:23Ahead of it, a lot of dry weather, and that's the theme that we take through this evening as well.
00:27Yes, there may be a bit of rain where the clouds stick enough over parts of Scotland,
00:31but overnight a bit more rain pushing into the far west, northwest of Scotland,
00:36maybe, possibly the west of Northern Ireland.
00:39But really, things are set to stay dry.
00:41Lots of dry, calm weather, clear skies.
00:44As a result, we are going to see temperatures dropping low single figures in some places.
00:50Most areas staying a little bit milder than that, particularly in the north and west,
00:54where there's a bit more of a breeze, so temperatures here while staying in double digits
00:58in the more built-up areas for sure.
00:59With the calm, clear weather, there's going to be some fog developing initially across parts
01:04of East Anglia through this evening, and then becoming more widespread across parts
01:07of the Midlands, perhaps East Wales, and also towards Lincolnshire, Yorkshire.
01:11The Vale of York likely to see some locally dense patches of fog first thing tomorrow morning.
01:16And as we go through Friday, well, some of that fog could actually linger and persist
01:20through much of the day, well through into the afternoon in those most prone areas.
01:25Otherwise, actually, a lot of fine weather, a good deal of sunshine too.
01:29Just always a bit more cloud, blustery winds, and some, perhaps, some rain across far western
01:34parts of Scotland and also Northern Ireland.
01:37With the sunshine, generally light winds, and we do have quite mild warm air across us,
01:41temperatures are going to be a few degrees above average for the time of year,
01:44and feeling, well, rather warm at times.
01:47But if you are stuck under the fog where it persists through much of the day, well,
01:52here it's actually going to feel pretty cold.
01:55Then through the evening, a fine end to the day for most places.
01:58As I mentioned, that frontal system in the northwest does edge a bit further south and
02:03eastward, so more northern and western parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing a bit
02:06of rain as we go overnight.
02:08But most places sticking with a similar picture to this coming night, albeit I'm expecting the
02:13fog to be a bit more widespread, pushing across more southern and southwestern parts of England
02:17and perhaps just being a bit denser than it is through this coming night, so that could cause
02:22some more severe problems on the roads first thing on Saturday morning.
02:26Fortunately, the roads are generally quieter compared to during the week.
02:30It is again going to be a bit chilly away from the northwest where we have the cloud,
02:34the rain and some brisk winds, and so once more we could see temperatures in more rural areas
02:38dropping to low single figures, towns and cities a little bit milder than that.
02:43So Halloween could get off to a bit of an eerie, spooky start perhaps with some mists and fog,
02:48and it could be again quite slow to clear across parts of the Midlands, East Wales,
02:53towards northeast England as well.
02:54Otherwise though, plenty of fine weather yet again, some decent sunshine just across parts
02:59of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
03:01It's a cloudier, wetter picture here.
03:03The rain doesn't look especially heavy, but it is going to turn more persistent as it gradually
03:08makes its way southeastwards through the day.
03:10East and southern parts of Scotland actually clinging on to the fine weather.
03:13It's more towards the northwest where things will be wetter.
03:17Temperatures, well, they're a little bit lower perhaps on Saturday compared to Friday.
03:21That's just because of the time of year.
03:23The sun doesn't have any real strength behind it.
03:26So when we're stuck in this same air mass, we're just losing a bit of heat really.
03:29But still in the sunshine and where you have the light winds, for the fact that it is Halloween,
03:34well, it's actually going to feel pretty mild, if not warm at times.
03:39Then as we head through the latter stages of the weekend, this front does continue its progress
03:44south and eastward.
03:45So feeding across parts of Scotland into northern parts of England and Wales, but it's breaking
03:49up as it goes.
03:49So we'll see a few outbreaks of rain here, but nothing particularly heavy and it won't be
03:53as persistent as it will have been across parts of the northwest.
03:55A few showers following in behind, perhaps across northern areas, but generally dry here
04:00and dry ahead of the front as well.
04:02And it's ahead of the front where the fog is most likely.
04:04As that front pushes through, that should help clear the fog away.
04:07So that's going to become less of a thing across southern areas through into next week,
04:11but more of a thing perhaps across some more northern areas.
04:15For more information about how long this dry period we are now in is going to last, well,

04:26Bye-bye.
