15 June - National forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon. A bit more cloud around today than we've had over the weekend. Low pressure's
00:05approaching from the west to bring some more rain to western areas as well. You can see
00:10that area of low pressure in the satellite picture from this morning. A swirl of cloud
00:14wrapped around. It's quite a large area of low pressure. It's going to spend most of
00:18the week out to the north and west of the UK, but it will continue to feed weather fronts
00:22up to the south and west, bringing some rain. We've already had some rain, some rumbles
00:27of thunder across central areas of England. That will push further northwards through
00:31the day. There is a risk of some thunderstorms in the far southeast through this afternoon.
00:35But the focus of the rain then pushes into parts of Northern Ireland and northern and western
00:39Scotland later on today. So for most of us, it should be quite a dry afternoon. Hazy sunshine,
00:45particularly in the south. It will still feel quite warm and a little bit humid, though.
00:49Temperatures quite widely in the low 20s across many southern and central areas. We could be
00:54approaching 25 degrees in the south and east. As we look further north, we've got thicker
00:58cloud. It's going to be cooler than that. And notice where this northerlier wind affects
01:03parts of Northern and Eastern Scotland. Temperatures pegged back into the low teens here. So a bit
01:09of a difference north to south. And we'll continue to see that difference throughout this week
01:13with the warmth holding on across parts of the south and east. But it will make for a fairly
01:17humid and muggy night tonight across much of the UK. More in the way of rain, pushing
01:22more widely across Scotland by Tuesday morning and quite a lot of cloud pushing in from the
01:28south and west. So a bit of a murky start for many areas, particularly any high ground
01:32and coastal regions. But it will be a milder start to the day than we saw this morning.
01:37We saw an air frost across parts of Scotland this morning. Quite a different story here for
01:41Tuesday morning. It's another relatively dry day for southern areas to come on Tuesday. Still
01:47some brightness in the afternoon, but it is going to be a bit of a cloudy start to the day.
01:51Outbreaks of rain continue to push across parts of Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, the
01:56southwest later on in the day. But this rain doesn't look particularly heavy. We'll just
02:00introduce more in the way of clouds. So not quite as sunny for many northern and western
02:05areas. But again, the south and east of England in particular will hold on to that sunshine.
02:10Temperatures once again climbing towards those mid-20s. We could see 26 or 27 degrees across
02:16the London area. But for most of us will be in the low 20s in the south, high teens further
02:21north.
02:21A slightly warmer day in the northeast of Scotland. These weather fronts continue to feed in across
02:26north and western areas. It's become a waving feature that does bring some uncertainty as to
02:31exactly where the highest temperatures and the heat will be, as well as where there's a risk of
02:36thunderstorms. So some things to be ironed out in the details for the weekend for the week ahead
02:41forecast. But you can find out all the details on that with Alex later on today on YouTube. Bye-bye.
