15 June - National forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Hello, good evening. A lot of cloud around tonight. Some rain across northern areas will make for a bit of
00:06a murky start tomorrow, but there's plenty more warm and dry weather to come across more southeastern areas.
00:12That's where high pressure will dominate through much of this week. Further north and west, we've got low pressure in
00:17charge and this waving front will bring spells of wet weather to more southern areas of Britain.
00:24But there is some uncertainty in the details of the nature of this waving front, but you can find more
00:30details in our full week ahead video for that.
00:32But for the time being, we've still got fairly settled weather across eastern areas through this evening, so a fairly
00:38fine evening to come.
00:39Across the west, though, cloud will thicken overnight. Outbreaks of rain pushing into parts of Scotland as well as northern
00:45areas of England, some of this heavy at times.
00:48And there will be a lot of cloud around for many northern and western areas in particular.
00:53Some mist and fog is likely to start the day on Tuesday, particularly across coastal areas and across the high
00:59ground.
01:00It will be a much milder start to the day on Tuesday than this morning, with temperatures quite widely in
01:05the double digits for most areas.
01:08And then we get a lot of cloud through much of the morning on Tuesday.
01:11Into the afternoon across the east, it will brighten up a little bit with some warm sunshine coming through.
01:17Further west and north, I think it's going to be quite overcast through much of the day.
01:21Spells of rain coming and going, particularly across western areas, coastal areas in particular.
01:26We've got quite a brisk southwesterly wind as well, quite a strong breeze as well, moving into parts of eastern
01:33Scotland by the end of the day.
01:35So temperatures for more western and northern areas will be a little bit down on today's temperatures, 17 or 18
01:42degrees for many areas.
01:43But as we head further inland and particularly further south and east, temperatures climb into the mid-twenties, 27 degrees
01:49as possible across parts of the southeast on Tuesday.
01:53So another pretty warm day.
01:55But it will feel quite humid through much of this week.
01:58And that's because there's a risk of thunderstorms in the mix with these showers, particularly as we head into Wednesday.
02:03Here's that waving front that is set to return into more central and southern areas of the UK through the
02:10early hours of Wednesday.
02:11But it could be slightly further north than this.
02:14But notice where we do see this waving front, there is a risk of some quite heavy, possibly thundery showers.
02:20Further north of the front, it will be a pretty unsettled picture.
02:23Risk of showers, southerly winds quite strong as well.
02:26And where we are to the south of it, it's going to be milder, more humid.
02:30But there will be quite a lot of cloud overshadowing from the weather front as well.
02:35So another cloudy start to the day on Wednesday.
02:37You can see those temperatures more like daytime temperatures, 16, 15 degrees for many southern areas.
02:43So a very mild and humid start to the day on Wednesday.
02:47Now this waving weather front moves further northwards as it waves and wiggles through the day.
02:52Outbreaks of rain continue across more northern areas, potentially a drier day across the south coast.
02:58And where we see those brighter skies, well, that's where we could see the highest temperatures climbing towards those higher
03:0520s values.
03:06But there is some uncertainty on that because it really depends where we see the brightest spells.
03:10And as you can see, there's a risk of showers for parts of central southern England as well as Wales.
03:16So temperatures for most of us will be in the low 20s.
03:19As we look further north, it will be slightly cooler as we're in a cooler air mass up here.
03:25And so temperatures remaining 18 or 19 degrees, a pretty similar day, to be honest, on Wednesday to Tuesday for
03:31more northern areas north of that weather front.
03:35As we head into the rest of the week, well, the waving weather front sticks with us, but temperatures could
03:40climb towards 30 degrees by Friday.
03:42But make sure you stay up to date through this week.

03:47Bye-bye.
