00:49We'll find out about how you feel about that at the end of this segment, because it's been a real
00:53bleep show so far.
00:54All right, Cam, I saw a report about something that James Palmer might have written, a former NFL network current
01:02bleacher report, saying that it seems to be from the people he's talking to that Todd Munkin's offense really fits
01:10Deshaun Watson.
01:12And I brought it up with Tone, and Tone kind of rolled his eyes, because as much as he likes
01:16to troll Shador fans, he doesn't want to see Deshaun Watson start the season, and neither do I.
01:21Now, you can remain objective.
01:22I have to give my opinion on it.
01:24But what does Shador have to do?
01:26Because it seems that Deshaun Watson is the leader in the clubhouse.
01:29So, A, is he the leader in the clubhouse?
01:31And B, what does Shador have to do to unseat him starting next week?
01:36Yeah, I think to call him the leader in the clubhouse is fair, but also a little unfair, because I
01:43think that he's a veteran there.
01:45I think that obviously gives him that upper hand in leadership over Shador, just because he's got that veteran experience
01:54of talking to guys and leading guys.
01:56And there are guys in that locker room who have watched him.
02:01But for Shador to take over this job, he just has to continue to show development.
02:07That's frankly it, and it's a very boring answer.
02:10But if you have a guy who you have the ceiling, and it's there, and you can start to imagine
02:16what you might be able to get out of him offensively,
02:19if he cleans up things, if he doesn't have to play hero ball and make those mistakes that he was
02:27making last year in the interception department,
02:29if he can clean that up, make better choices, and show off some of the accuracy that we have seen
02:35from him,
02:36I think, in my opinion, that puts him above, because then you have the unknown.
02:43You have the potential unlocked in Shador Sanders, where Deshaun Watson has had multiple seasons to kind of show you
02:52what he has to offer,
02:54and it hasn't gone that way.
02:56Now, injuries obviously have happened, but we've kind of seen, I think, what we have needed to see from Deshaun
03:03Watson.
03:04And if he starts to show some of those things, which we saw a little bit in OTAs when he
03:10was pressured,
03:10and this is no pads, obviously shorts, and no contact, but you've seen a little bit of him, some of
03:19those dirt balls,
03:20some of the scrambling that becomes an issue in-game.
03:22So if you start to see the bad from Deshaun and some more of the good from Shador outweighing it,
03:30I think it's a very easy decision because you have ceiling and potential.
03:37And if you go to Deshaun Watson, you kind of have a track record of what he's been able to
03:41show you on the field so far
03:42through the first few seasons of him being in the Browns.
03:45The crazy thing to me, Cam, is that every time we've seen Deshaun Watson, he's not playing like a savvy
03:53veteran.
03:54He's not either taking what the defense is giving him, he's not making sure to have good awareness in the
04:02pocket
04:02and processing what he's seeing at the line of scrimmage.
04:06All the stuff we normally associate with the veteran quarterbacks,
04:10you just didn't feel like you were getting that from Deshaun Watson.
04:13No, and that's part of the thing that you're looking for through this training camp too
04:19is to see if he starts to trend towards that because that's the biggest issue for Deshaun
04:25and with the regression from the Deshaun Watson from Houston to the Deshaun Watson in Cleveland
04:31was he was throwing interceptions too.
04:34He was throwing low balls on the field just completely off target
04:41and looked really frazzled under any kind of pressure.
04:46And that can't be the case, especially in the offense that the Browns were operating in.
04:51And now it will be interesting, I think, for both Deshaun and Shador
04:54to see how this offensive line comes together.
04:57The Browns have totally revamped that, right?
05:00And so with all of these new guys and all of these new pieces, how will that hold up?
05:04Because that's going to change how they are pressured
05:06and how comfortable they feel in the pocket.
05:08But you're right, Deshaun has shown the inability to look comfortable
05:13under that kind of pressure, and that is what a veteran quarterback should be able to do.
05:18They should be able to operate efficiently, maybe not perfectly,
05:21but efficiently with an offensive line that isn't operating strongly.
05:26And you would expect the kind of results that Shador had as a rookie operating under
05:31a not-so-strong offensive line riddled with injuries.
05:34You would expect some of those mistakes to happen with the uncomfortability factor.
05:39You wouldn't expect that from Deshaun Watson.
05:41But now you've got kind of a fresh start, and if the offensive line looks the way
05:45that they want them to with all of these new pieces and Warhop running the ship there,
05:50it's a different story.
05:52And it kind of evens the playing field out a little bit in terms of what we see
05:56is what we're going to get from these quarterbacks.

06:03I don't mean to load your opinion.
06:05I have to admit right before I ask you this question,
06:08I do think there are two different answers.
06:10So let me ask you, what does Deshaun Watson and what does Shador Sanders have to do this year
06:17to make sure that the Browns don't draft a quarterback in 2027,
06:20in the first round?
06:22I honestly, I think it will be Shador Sanders making that answer.
06:28I have a hard time imagining, I mean, barring a spectacular performance,
06:35I have a hard time imagining Deshaun Watson continuing to be on this roster long term.
06:41I just, the contract and the history and it just, to me, doesn't track that way.
06:48So I think that answer would be made by a strong performance from Shador Sanders
06:56that shows that he could be the franchise quarterback because otherwise they're looking
07:01for a franchise quarterback.
07:01They're looking for a long-term answer.
07:03They've gone young across the board in two drafts.
07:08And on paper, this last draft looked really good.
07:11We'll see if it lives up to last year's draft and how they were able to perform on the field.
07:17But so far, it looks like they've done a really good job in that department.
07:22And that's what I think that the youth that they've trended towards,
07:27even the Miles Garrett trade and bringing in Jared Verse to a younger version of your pass rush
07:33to make that defense younger.
07:35And so they're setting themselves up for the next few years.
07:39I don't know that Sean Watson is in those cards, but Shador Sanders,
07:43now entering his second year, could be in those cards if he can prove that he's the franchise guy
07:47they're looking for.
07:48Otherwise, they're also going to be setting that position up for success
07:51and they're going to be looking at quarterbacks.
07:53So I do think the answer is it lies with can Shador Sanders take that lead?
07:59Can he impress this organization enough, clean up mistakes, and show growth and the trajectory
08:07that would set him apart as a solidified franchise quarterback that they can feel comfortable with,
08:13not just next year, but the year after and the year after that.

08:21So I know you consume some, if not all, of the Shador Sanders short film that was,
08:30I know Ken couldn't be bothered to watch it, but I took it all in.
08:34I thought it was really well done, but he did seem kind of sad.
08:38I mean, the music was sad, the way it was shot, and he's talking about not only his haters,
08:42but he's also talking about his, quote, fake fans, who it kind of felt to him
08:47when he was talking about it, weren't really there with him when there were the struggles
08:52of last year.
08:53Do you feel like last year was something he needed to go through?
08:59Do you feel like he dealt with it well as you've gotten a chance to be around him
09:04at his camps and other areas this year in Cleveland?
09:07Yeah, I think that it's a hard thing because you don't want to say, like,
09:14somebody has to go through something that made them uncomfortable because that sucks.
09:20It's never good to see somebody who feels bad about a situation.
09:24But, I mean, character development is a real thing, I think, for all of us as people.
09:30So maybe it is good.
09:32Maybe that is something that fosters growth and is one of those things that help,
09:39while maybe unfortunate to have to feel like that, maybe that does create some growth
09:45in the character development and in a leadership department and a self-reflection department.
09:52I think last year was very interesting because it was, there's just, I mean, for a few years,
10:01there's been a lot of polarization and it has been a very divisive fan base
10:08because there's frustration, there is expectations, and then quickly those expectations go down the drain.
10:16You're losing and you're losing and you're losing and there's inconsistency.
10:20And so I think all of those frustrations have been felt by every player,
10:26but there's one position in particular that feels it the most and it's pointed to the most.
10:33And so, I mean, I think that's probably where the divisiveness of the fans comes from, too,
10:41is there's a frustration and it's palpable all the time.
10:46And the only way to get rid of it is to consistently win and to not win games just because
10:54it's the end of the season,
10:57but to really win meaningful games and to show that you can compete and it's a product that you want
11:03to see.
11:03It's got to be exciting.
11:04So I think that all of that probably does help a person in their growth and maybe he'll be thankful
11:12for it later.
11:13But I think, yeah, handling it was the best that you can handle it.
11:19I think it looked as good as it could be in terms of processing how the frustrations have played out
11:29both in real life and online.
11:31Cam, Justin's joining us, News 5 Sports reporter.
11:34Other than QB, what positions are you most concerned with?
11:37Oh, that's a good question.
11:38I don't know if it's concern.
11:40I have the most questions with the pass rush just because, obviously, you lose Myles Garrett.
11:46You wonder what this will look like.
11:48I do really like Garrett-verse, and I'm excited to see what he has on the table.
11:53But it's hard to imagine what this could look like when Myles Garrett really dictated how offenses were operating,
12:03being double-teamed and all the chips that were thrown his way, the way that he could control motion on
12:10the offense just by his presence on the line wherever he was at.
12:13That is where I'm a little concerned to see how they approach that, how other teams approach that, and how
12:21it impacts the line.
12:22I think the Browns have really good pieces.
12:24I think Alex Wright is a very good pass rusher.
12:27I really like the addition of Jared Burst.
12:29If you have to trade Myles Garrett, at least you're getting someone of a high caliber that brings potential.
12:34But I think the pass rush is truly where my eyes are going to see, can they sustain productivity and
12:44success in that department without a superstar?
12:49If we are not a playoff team, very low percentage right now, chances given that we'll be a playoff team
12:55in 2026.
12:56If we're not a playoff team here, how important is the game week two at Tampa Bay?
13:02Is that the biggest game of the year?
13:04Ooh.
13:06Yeah, that's a good one.
13:08That's a good one.
13:09If you're not going to be a playoff team, there's certainly one you want to win.
13:13That's one you want to win.
13:14I think the schedule has some good storylines.
13:17So, you beat Atlanta.
13:20I think that's a fun one.
13:23You can hang your hat on that one.
13:26Anytime, the division games.
13:29And the Steelers are, to me, a very big question mark.
13:32They always are.
13:33And every year I think this is the year that they're at the bottom.
13:36This is the year.
13:36And somehow they pull it out.
13:38But new coach, new question marks there for me.
13:42So, you beat the Steelers twice?
13:45And you don't make the playoffs?
13:46I think that's a victory in itself.
13:49So, honestly, any kind of improvement on the field, whether it results in wins, if you're seeing this team go
13:56out there and actually compete, not roll over, and be in games, and then you stack a couple more wins,
14:04you get six or seven.
14:05It's a slow burn to a turnaround, and it's more than on the track of a rebuild that they don't
14:14want to say the term rebuild.
14:15I think that would be kind of the definition of a rebuild if you're still chugging along, getting a couple
14:23wins.
14:23But I honestly think it's a success.
14:25If you can just notch a couple more wins every season and look a little bit better with the moves
14:30you make, it is a rebuild then, but at least you are rebuilding in the right direction.
