00:30We talked yesterday about a reunion of sorts.
00:35But we were talking quarterback.
00:39Baker Mayfield had been in the news.
00:40Looks like he's just going to play it out.
00:42He's just going to go to camp and then play the season out
00:46and hope that the play does the talking when it comes to a new contract.
00:50So we don't have to talk about Baker Mayfield today.
00:53We can talk about another reunion.
00:56Yesterday, did you see Nick Padone?
00:58Did your phone light up when it came to Jedevian Clowney walking through on the very first day of practice,
01:07walking through Berea?
01:09I certainly didn't have that on my proverbial bingo card.
01:14Owen, I did not have that.
01:16Did you have that?
01:17I just checked my bingo card.
01:19I did not have that.
01:20Every day.
01:20We start out every day with a bingo card.
01:22I didn't have it on mine either.
01:24I did feel like I hopped in a time portal and went back to 2022 hearing Daryl say that it
01:30wasn't a banner day for quarterbacks.
01:32And then hearing that Jedevian Clowney is in town for a visit felt like I went in a little bit
01:37of a time machine.
01:38Yeah, Mary Kay of cleveland.com, who we will be talking to at 820.
01:43Stay tuned.
01:43I can't wait to get her thoughts on this.
01:46Brown's, quote, strongly considering re-signing Jedevian Clowney, who, if you just look at the sacks, it's amazing this guy's
01:54ever available.
01:56Last year, eight and a half sacks in 13 games.
01:59That seems pretty productive.
02:01The year before that, not as good in Carolina.
02:04Five and a half sacks.
02:04The year before that, nine and a half in Baltimore.
02:06But we know how things ended in Cleveland.
02:09And if you want to go into the way back machine, here it is.
02:14Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer had this to say about the end of the Jedevian
02:20Clowney experience in Cleveland.
02:22This has been going on all season long where he feels like they have taken him, you know, off of
02:28a favorable matchup and put miles onto the more favorable matchup with someone.
02:34So, therefore, he's not able to get the sacks, not able to get the pressures.
02:38The big takeaway, I think, is the fact that this has been bubbling under the surface all season long.
02:43He's been unhappy.
02:45Other times that I've just checked in with him, you know, you could tell that that he had something that
02:50he wanted to say.
02:51I did ask him, I said, you know, this is where you wanted to be because you wanted to play
02:55with Deshaun.
02:56And he was like, I do.
02:58You know, Deshaun's my boy.
02:59I want to play with Deshaun.
03:00But I have to go somewhere where they believe in me.
03:02And I don't feel like they believe in me here.
03:05That's how it ended on.
03:06That was January 5th, 2023.
03:09So that's after the 2022 season.
03:12Remember, he didn't suit up for that final game of the year.
03:15They basically in-house suspended him.
03:19And now all of a sudden.
03:21Water under the bridge.
03:23Miles Garrett gone.
03:24Jadavion Clowney wants to be back.
03:27Oh, it is so funny.
03:28Kind of fascinating.
03:29It is so funny because I remember we had those conversations.
03:32And sometimes I like to play devil's advocate.
03:34And I'm like, is anybody willing to hear out Jadavion Clowney's side of things?
03:39And everyone's like, no, no.
03:40You're going to side with Jadavion Clowney over Miles Garrett?
03:42Well, of course, Miles Garrett's no longer here.
03:44And I saw, so predictable, the Browns fans probably diametrically opposing view that they might have carried back in.
03:52What year was this again?
03:532022?
03:54Because I saw everybody saying, well, maybe it was Miles Garrett's fault.
03:57Maybe it was Miles and it's not Jadavion.
03:59But, you know, again, keep in mind.
04:01This is like an all-time mercenary player in NFL history, right?
04:06I mean, yeah, he started his career out in Houston.
04:09He was the number one overall pick in the draft.
04:11Everybody remembers the play in the bowl game against Michigan, right?
04:18Like the all-time play where he sniffed it out.
04:24And, you know, it was a devastating, devastating hit.
04:27And then Seattle, then Tennessee, then Cleveland.
04:31So right there it was four teams in four years.
04:33And then you go by Cleveland in 2022, then it was Baltimore, Carolina, Dallas.
04:37He's had two stints in his career, four teams in four years.
04:41Why not make it five?
04:43And I guess I just look, this is just me, not the football tape guru.
04:47I'll save that for Coach Rislin.
04:50I'll save that for the people that know the ins and the outs.
04:53I just look at a guy like this and wonder, hmm, he's productive, but it's a different team every year.
05:01And he can't seem to find a team that wants him for multiple years.
05:04As far as the NFL goes, that seems like a guy that doesn't really fit into a team's culture.
05:10Well, you remember his big thing was that, like, the Browns only care about Miles Garrett and getting Miles his
05:16numbers.
05:16The rest of it is secondary.
05:18They're trying to get Miles into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
05:21They're not trying to win games.
05:22Like, they're just trying to get Miles his sacks.
05:24That was Jadavion Clowney's soapbox.
05:26But that has also kind of been his career.
05:30Like, he goes to a team, gets a bunch of sacks, doesn't make much of an impact on the field
05:35otherwise.
05:36Obviously, a good player.
05:37Like, if the Browns get him, it would be like, okay, you've got Jadavion Clowney back.
05:41He's 33 now.
05:42You know, you had him in 2022, which, again, was a long time ago.
05:46As we continue to reference with Deshaun Watson how long it's been since you've seen Deshaun be a good player.
05:51It's been a very long time.
05:52It's been a long time since Clowney's been in that building.
05:55I did find it maybe a little bit humorous.
05:59Just that, like, I don't know how many teams are necessarily in the Jadavion Clowney sweepstakes.
06:05But he did leave Berea yesterday without a contract, even though the Browns are very serious about resigning him.
06:10Maybe he saw the quarterback display and just said, you know what, I'm good, I'm good.
06:15Maybe he's like, man, I came here for Deshaun Watson years ago.
06:17We were going to try to build a super team.
06:19And then I saw him yesterday.
06:20And I saw the back-to-back picks.
06:22And I was like, hey, see you later.
06:23It's more likely that all-time mercenary, which I think should be on his trading card, should be on, you
06:32know, his Wikipedia page at the start.
06:35Like, he probably just is asking for insane money.
06:38And he'll just wait to see if there are injuries on the defensive line.
06:41He does this.
06:42Like, this is the time of the year for Jadavion Clowney.
06:44Like, it is Groundhog Day in that sense, is that, like, if you were planning NFL content, you know that
06:50around late July, when training camps get started, and that means the number of practices remaining decrease, Jadavion Clowney's going
06:57to be interested in signing somewhere.
06:59And this fall, it just happens to be the Browns.
07:01What a perfect time to ask for somebody from South Carolina.
07:05Thomas is calling us.
07:07How do you feel about a potential Browns reunion with Jadavion Clowney?
07:12Morning, guys.
07:13Yeah, Tone, I got an answer for yours.
07:15Clowney, bring me back, but I want to talk a little about Sean Watson.
07:17You asked last time he was good.
07:19But before we get into that, Tone, you're our Baker bro on three of us.
07:23Let's create a fair, balanced playing field.
07:26So, do you define Baker by his early years of the Browns and Buccaneers years, or his 2021 year when
07:32his shoulder was hurt?
07:34I guess the years with the Browns when he was good, and the year with, you know, last year with
07:38Tampa, he started out the year as MVP candidate.
07:40Go ahead.
07:42Also, do you think he's been better or worse outside the fancy system?
07:47Probably better, right?
07:49I don't know.
07:49I think you want somebody to define Baker Mayfield when the guy has had the all-time roller coaster.
07:56I know what you're getting ready to do.
07:57Go ahead and do it.
07:58Well, Deshaun, we're finally going to get to see him outside of the fancy.
08:01Go ahead.
08:01I'll let you say it.
08:02Let's talk about it.
08:03So, 2024, Deshaun, he had the hurt shoulder year.
08:06And then we had Ken Dorsey here.
08:07So, let's throw out 2024.
08:082024, all right?
08:08So, we have two years looking at Deshaun as a Browns player, all right?
08:11Tone, your answer last time he was good was 2023.
08:14Okay?
08:14He was 4-1 at the start.
08:16I'm not counting the Colts game.
08:174-1 at the start.
08:18Watch the film on it.
08:19He beat Joe Burrow.
08:20Outplayed the March action.
08:22Man, I don't know.
08:23The advanced numbers on him were still bottom 10 in the league.
08:26We do have those for a reason.
08:28Like, it's not – I know quarterback wins.
08:31We like to talk about that time and time again.
08:33It seemed to me to be a lot of smoke and mirrors that year.
08:36I didn't think he was that good.
08:37Don't, don't, don't.
08:37So, in the Bengals game with a monsoon.
08:40Yeah.
08:40With a monsoon, all right?
08:41You get those in Cleveland every November, December.
08:44I was there.
08:44It wasn't.
08:45There was a light mist at the start of the game.
08:47Wow.
08:47You guys have had that.
08:48Have you hashed this out before?
08:50Go back.
08:50Go back and look at that.
08:51But watch 2023.
08:53You need it at, like, Denneville.com credentials.
08:55I'll send it to you.
08:56Text me.
08:56I'll send you my credentials.
08:57Oh, very nice.
08:58On that end.
08:59And here's the thing.
09:00Go back to the Browns.
09:02He was, what, 3-3 as a starter, right?
09:04If Cooper and the Joker catch a ball in the snow versus Stank, he's 4-2.
09:07So, 4-2, 4-1.
09:09Basically, those are the first two years.
09:11Like, I'll take that.
09:12You put him in last year's team, right?
09:14They go to the playoffs.
09:16Let's not forget that 4-1 year, Nick Chubb only played one game.
09:19He got hurt in the Steelers game.
09:21He may have been 5-0.
09:22Nick Chubb doesn't get hurt in the Steelers game.
09:23So, you think, Thomas, you think the entire – you think everybody is wrong.
09:28On the Deshaun Watson era, you bring up a play here, a play there, which, of course, I hear from
09:33the Shador fans all the time last year.
09:36You're dug in.
09:38You feel like he's got a shot to be good again.
09:42We haven't seen enough of him.
09:43I want to see him outside the fancy system.
09:45I'm not a fancy guy, right?
09:47And, Tom, you were on vote by getting Deshaun here.
09:49I was too.
09:49I wanted him, yeah.
09:50Right?
09:51I know.
09:51So, let's see him outside the fancy system, right?
09:55Under a coach now who's a real OC who's going to put him in the best position to win and
10:00look like a good quarterback.
10:01Let's see it.
10:02We have nothing to lose.
10:02All right, Thomas, thank you very much for the call.
10:05A staunch defense of Deshaun Watson.
10:09We started the show playing all-time optimism out of the afternoon show.
10:13And we end the hour with the one guy in the world that has a defense of the Watson era.
10:22I feel like I'm kind of getting punked.
10:22Where is Ashton Kutcher?
10:25Hey, we found one.
10:26Is there two?
