00:00There are three guys that if they're there, if they drop,
00:03and I think they would have to drop, you must draft them.
00:06That's David Bailey, Arvell Reese from Glenville,
00:09and running back Jeremiah Love.
00:11If they are there, they are the type of player
00:15that you can just add to your football team
00:17and know you're going to be set.
00:18And then I'd think about Sonny Stiles and Caleb Downs,
00:21but I think I would lead more Carnell Tate,
00:25depending on the Browns' evaluation.
00:26If they think Sonny Stiles is going to be a beast,
00:29maybe.
00:30Caleb Downs is going to be a beast, I think.
00:33But boy, they need wide receiver help like crazy.
00:36So my overall thought was, if those big three aren't there,
00:40they need to come out of the first two rounds
00:43with one of the top three wide receivers in the draft
00:46by everybody else's evaluation,
00:48Carnell Tate, Jordan Tyson, McKay Lemon,
00:51and then the best offensive lineman they can find
00:54when they pick next, or the best wide receiver,
00:58and then whatever they don't take with their second pick,
01:00they take the other with the third.
01:02I'm Jeff Phelps.
01:03This would be Andy Baskin.
01:04All right, so I'm approaching a draft like this tonight.
01:06First of all, I have already eliminated Mendoza,
01:09Bailey, Reese.
01:11You just don't think they'll be there?
01:12They're just not going to be there at six.
01:13And you know what, Andy?
01:14I agree with you.
01:15They're not going to be there.
01:15There's three, so in my thought process,
01:19Mendoza, Bailey, Reese, done.
01:21Forget about them.
01:22They're not coming to the Browns unless the Browns decide
01:24to move up, and I don't know.
01:25Which I wouldn't do if I was them.
01:28No, unless they love Fernando Mendoza
01:31and we're ready to make another Deshaun Watson trade.
01:33Raiders won't do that.
01:34Yeah, I don't know.
01:35Maybe if he gave him a Deshaun Watson trade,
01:37although even it wouldn't be that bad
01:38because the contract wouldn't be as bad
01:40because it'd be friendly because he's being drafted,
01:42and he'd have to be on the rookie wage scale.
01:46But the more I look at it,
01:48I believe history tells us
01:50that they are not going to make a pick at six tonight,
01:53that they will trade that.
01:54You have to go back to 2018, Jeff,
01:56and Baker Mayfield for the last time
01:57they've actually had their natural pick
02:00in the first round, and he was number one overall.
02:02So history tells you don't be surprised
02:05if they trade the pick, and I'm okay with that,
02:07especially if they think they can get the player they want
02:12and hopefully they fill a need.
02:14What I think drives us nuts,
02:16and we talk about worst-case scenario,
02:17is let's say the Browns decide to trade out of six.
02:20They come back.
02:21I'll even say Dallas at 12, right?
02:23Because I think that's what sane people think, right?
02:27That seems to be the key landing spot for a trade down.
02:31The hard part about the Cowboys, though,
02:33is they don't have a second-round pick.
02:36But they do have the 20th pick in the first round.
02:39Are they going to give us both of their picks?
02:40Well, I've seen trade scenarios where 12 and 20
02:43come to the Browns, and the Browns cough up 6 and 39.
02:48And then I've seen trade scenarios where the Cowboys
02:51send something else to the Browns,
02:54like a 20-27 second-rounder,
02:56to move up to 6 from 12, and the Browns get 12.
02:59But are you thinking, if you put yourself
03:02in the Cowboys' shoes, which we never do in this...
03:05They seem to want Sonny Stiles.
03:07Yeah, okay.
03:07From every mock draft, you see.
03:09And so that's where you've got to go.
03:10And if they stayed at 12, I've seen a bunch of mocks
03:14say Caleb Downs at 12, if Downs makes it to 12.
03:17I don't know.
03:18The beauty of this draft, this is the first draft
03:22in a long time that we always get into the quarterback.
03:26Oh, who's taking this quarterback?
03:27Who's taking that quarterback?
03:28And we're waiting for them all to go in the top 10.
03:31That's not this draft.
03:32Not happening.
03:33And, you know, Andrew Siciliano, who's with us later today...
03:36That'd be at noon.
03:37And he'll probably say it again today, too,
03:38but he said this to me on Tuesday,
03:41that, you know, after Mendoza, it's a free-for-all.
03:45It really is.
03:46And, like, I'm even leaning to say that Bailey and Reese
03:49are 2-3, but even that might be a crapshoot.
03:53Who knows?
03:54Because Reese or Bailey could end up falling,
03:57or something crazy could happen,
03:58or someone makes a trade,
03:59and now, all of a sudden, everything gets jumbled.
04:02This is one of the most fascinating drafts we've had
04:04in a long time,
04:06because you just really don't know
04:09what's going to happen after one.
04:10So, let me just...
04:12I'll say this.
04:13I think probably one of the smartest conversations we had
04:16was with Sal Palantonio,
04:18and that was last week?
04:20Was that early?
04:20Yeah, it was last week.
04:21And Sal had five guys that make an instant impact.
04:25They are match-up nightmares for other teams.
04:28One of them was Sonny Stiles.
04:29Yeah, and so, like, if any of those five guys land...
04:33One of those will, Andy.
04:34Well, they'll have the opportunity to grab one of those five.
04:37Yes, they will.
04:38If they stay at six.
04:40If they don't, there's no guarantee
04:42that any of those five guys will be there.
04:43But some of those guys are guys that might make you think,
04:46hmm, is that the guy that the Browns should bring in?
04:50Like Kenyon Sadiq.
04:52Like Kenyon Sadiq is one...
04:53Like Caleb Downs.
04:54Like Sonny Stiles.
04:55Sadiq is the guy I would love...
04:57Sadiq, to me, is the guy that fits the MO of the Browns
05:02for taking a guy they think is a big impact
05:07and can do a little bit more.
05:09Like, I think they think they'll get more for their money
05:10with Kenyon Sadiq, depending on where they...
05:13I don't think they're going to take him at six.
05:15I think that's kind of a reach at six.
05:17I think he's a little bit farther back.
05:19I don't know that he's much farther back than eight.
05:22And I don't know why...
05:23I do.
05:23He might be on the board.
05:25If he gets past Kansas City, he might drop to Tampa at 15.
05:29I've seen a couple where he's been higher than that.
05:32I've seen him in that eight to 12 range.
05:36How's that sound?
05:36Okay.
05:37And so...
05:38So what do you want him to do?
05:40What do I want them...
05:41I want them to take...
05:42What I really want is a player at six
05:44that will have an impact on this team
05:47and that can help them score,
05:48be it wide receiver or even Jeremiah Love.
05:51Okay.
05:51Really, if you ask me what's my core feeling on this,
05:55take somebody who can get in the mm-mm end zone.
05:59That is our biggest problem.
06:01When did it get named the mm-mm end zone?
06:03Because I wanted to keep my job past today.
06:05Oh, okay, good.
06:06So someone's got to get into the end zone.
06:08Do that at six
06:09and then let everything else fall into place.
06:11The one reason I say
06:13I want them to get with their first pick,
06:17one of...
06:17Unless those guys are there.
06:19One of the top three receivers by everybody else's rankings
06:23because I don't trust the Browns to evaluate wide receivers.
06:26They haven't given me the reason to trust them on that.
06:29Let me ask you a question.
06:30What?
06:31Do you think Andrew has a trade in his pocket right now?
06:33Yeah.
06:34I do too.
06:34He always does.
06:37He always does.
06:38I think the idea of Caleb Downs is intriguing, at least.
06:47And think about what Todd Munkin watched with the last three years
06:51with Kyle Hamilton in Baltimore.
06:53Now, that was on the other side of the ball,
06:55but Todd saw what Kyle Hamilton means to that Ravens defense.
07:00Maybe Caleb Downs can be just as impactful,
07:03but I just think the need at wide receiver,
07:08if you have these guys,
07:10and again, it comes down to evaluation,
07:12if you have these guys so close in your ranking,
07:17I mean, this team is just...
07:20It's putrid at wide receiver.
07:22It is.
07:24And Andrew Barry hasn't shown the ability to draft a wide receiver
07:29who can actually play in the league.
07:31I like Cedric Tillman.
07:33He hasn't been healthy enough.
07:35And we haven't seen enough good play from Cedric.
07:38Donovan Peoples-Jones might be the most productive guy they've drafted.
07:41He's not...
07:43I don't think he's even on a team right now.
07:45But he was solid when he was here for a while.
07:47But that's not enough.
07:50You drafted Anthony Schwartz and passed over Amon Ross St. Brown.
07:56Sorry, I know you can look and spin the wheel of regret.
07:59How did you miss that?
08:01You know, and other teams passed on St. Brown,
08:04but you're looking for a wide receiver in the third round,
08:07and you took Schwartz over Amon Ross St. Brown.
08:10That just screams red flag.
08:12And that's why I keep thinking,
08:14just, these three guys seem to be everybody's top picks.
08:20Get one of them.
08:21Get one of them.
