00:00Many of us have noticed the fresher feel to things out there today, but that doesn't mean it's the end
00:06of the hot weather for all of us.
00:08Looking at the earlier satellite imagery, and I've put the pressure picture on here as well,
00:13and you can see the high pressure that's been dominating our weather through this week, leading to the largely sunny
00:18skies,
00:18and it's this that's led to the hot air coming in from the south.
00:21That's now clearing away towards the east, and as a result, a number of fronts are able to come across
00:26the UK.
00:27We have a number of fronts across us at the moment, and there's one waiting out, or frontal system waiting
00:32out in the Atlantic,
00:33which I'll talk about in a second.
00:35The fronts across us have already brought a bit of rain.
00:38If I put the earlier radar on, you can see some sherry bursts of rain across parts of southern, southeastern
00:43England.
00:43There were some rumbles of thunder across parts of the Midlands this morning, and we have some rain across parts
00:48of northwest Scotland.
00:49And it's in these areas where we're going to continue to see a bit of cloud, a bit of rain
00:52through this afternoon,
00:54staying quite wet across many parts of Scotland, quite blustery here.
00:57And in the southeast of England, further sherry bursts of rain.
01:00These will become more confined to just the southeast as we head later on in the day.
01:05In between these two zones, however, there will actually be a lot of dry, sunny weather to be had.
01:10Plenty of sunshine by the afternoon across Northern Ireland and across large chunks of England and Wales, just away from
01:16the southeast.
01:17Despite the sunshine, however, because we have slightly fresher air across us, temperatures will be down markedly compared to what
01:24we've seen through much of this week.
01:26Mid to high teens across parts of the north, where we have the cloud and the rain.
01:29High teens low to possibly mid to 20s further south.
01:33In the far southeast, we do actually still have some hot air here.
01:37And so temperatures could get to highs around 27, 28 Celsius, but it's a bit tricky because of the cloud.
01:43And so that may stop temperatures getting as high as you might otherwise expect.
01:49Later on, we see any showery bursts of rain in the southeast clearing away.
01:52And the rain across Scotland will become largely confined to just the far north of Scotland overnight.
01:57With plenty of dry weather following in behind.
01:59But then we start to see some rain pushing into the far west of Northern Ireland and the far west
02:04of Scotland as we head towards dawn on Saturday morning.
02:07Most places, though, having a dry picture.
02:10And there will be some clear skies, that fresher air, meaning temperatures will be a little bit lower than they
02:14have been through some recent nights.
02:16It's not going to be chilly. No, not at all.
02:18But yeah, just not as warm, not as muggy, not as uncomfortable for sleeping, perhaps, as it has been recently.
02:24Then that front that I mentioned earlier starts to make its way in.
02:28We have a whole frontal system that's going to bring, yes, initially rain to just Western Northern Ireland or Western
02:33Scotland.
02:34But it will feed further east and northeastwards through Saturday.
02:37So across much of Northern Ireland, it's going to turn wet through the morning.
02:41And then the more persistent rain pushing across parts of Scotland through the day as well.
02:45Behind the more persistent rain, there will be some showery bursts for Western Northern Ireland, Western Scotland,
02:51as we go through into the latter stages of the afternoon and into the evening.
02:55And these could be heavy.
02:57They could even be some, there could even be some rumbles of thunder.
03:00Some intense downpours could cause some problems.
03:03Meanwhile, across the bulk of England and Wales, actually, a largely fine day, even brighter, sunnier than today in the
03:09southeast.
03:10Despite the sunshine, we still have the fresher air across us.
03:13And so for many, still temperatures down on what we've seen earlier on in the week across parts of the
03:19northwest.
03:19It's, you know, they'll be pegged back because of the cloud and the rain here.
03:23But worth highlighting, still in the southeast, as I mentioned at the start, there is still some hot air around.
03:29So mid to high 20s looks quite likely.
03:3228, 29 Celsius, perhaps, in some parts of the southeast around the London area.
03:37Now, in a normal May, that would be pretty exceptional.
03:40But because of the hot spell that we had earlier on this week, it's not going to feel as hot
03:45as that.
03:46Nonetheless, that is pretty hot for some in the southeast.
03:50Like I said, watch out for some heavy, perhaps thundery downpours across Western Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland through
03:56Saturday evening.
03:57Elsewhere across Scotland, the rain breaks up, starts to push into the far north and west of England and Wales.
04:03Further south and east, we cling on to the drier weather for longer.
04:06And then into Sunday, well, we're looking set to have a day of sunshine and showers.
04:11The heaviest, most likely to be thundery showers will be across parts of Scotland.
04:15Meanwhile, towards the southeast, you have the greatest chance of avoiding them.
04:19And by Sunday, that fresh air will have pushed to all parts.
04:23So temperatures dropping only to around average for the time of year, but just nowhere near as high as they
04:28have been recently.
04:29Whatever you're up to this weekend, make sure you stay up to date with the forecast.
04:33It may affect your plans, particularly on Sunday with the chance of those showers.
04:36They'll be a little bit tricky to pinpoint exactly.
04:39So keep up to date with the radar, which you can do on our app.
04:42Bye-bye.
04:42Bye-bye.
04:44Bye-bye.
