00:00Yes, there will be some sunshine around but also plenty of showers this afternoon and actually some places towards the northeast still feeling the effects of what was Storm Benjamin.
00:11Now that low pressure centre is well out in the North Sea but there is still a hangback of rain that's actually pushing its way westwards at the moment and that's feeding its way across parts of Scotland which is why things are going to be fairly wet here.
00:26As we go through the rest of today some parts of Scotland could see rainfall totals of 30 to 40 millimetres perhaps but because this is coming over 12 to 15 hours or so it shouldn't cause any major impacts but nonetheless quite a wet day across many parts of Scotland.
00:43Elsewhere we're talking sunny breaks and quite a few showers. There's actually another low pressure centre that's feeding its way across parts of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and it's this that's driving some showers and these are going to push their way into parts of Wales and western England as well.
00:59Some of these could be heavy there could be some CB around so whilst you may not see much lightning there could be some hail mixed in with them as well.
01:07When it comes to temperatures generally they're a little bit below average for the time of year.
01:12Yes towards the south we may get highs of around 13 or perhaps 14 celsius and if you're sheltered from the wind see any sunshine not feeling too bad but generally there's a bit of a nip in the air and some places will stay in single digits feeling quite unpleasant over some parts of Scotland with the cloud the rain and some blustery winds here.
01:32As we go through this evening worth bearing in mind there could be some fog patches around dusk across parts of Wales but these will clear as we go through the start of the night.
01:41Otherwise the big talking points being the rain across Scotland pushes its way southwards and eventually starts to clear away towards the east as we go through the night.
01:49Meanwhile elsewhere yes there will still be some showers coming through pushing down on a cold northerly wind so it's in areas exposed to that northerly wind where we will see some further showers overnight particularly northern parts of Scotland but also northern Ireland and some feeding through into parts of Wales and maybe even southwest England as well.
02:09Away from these areas there will be some dry weather even some clear spells and so a touch of frost can't be ruled out if you get any shelter from that brisk northerly wind across some parts of Scotland.
02:20Here we could see temperatures dropping to around or a little bit below freezing but elsewhere well the breeze stopping temperatures from dropping particularly low.
02:28Nonetheless it is going to feel pretty chilly first thing tomorrow morning.
02:32And actually as we go through the day tomorrow a chilly feel for sure starting off a bit cloudy a bit damp across eastern parts of England but that rain clears away towards the North Sea and then actually a good deal of fine and often quite sunny weather around albeit still seeing some of those showers piling down from the north on that cold Arctic air.
02:53And because that is Arctic air we are seeing our temperatures dropping and with that the potential for some sleet or snow over modest high ground of Scotland.
03:02We're talking above 300 to 400 metres we could see some sleet and snow perhaps and elsewhere well the higher ground is kind of sheltered from that northerly wind across parts of England and so as a result I'm not really expecting much of any sleet or snow in other places perhaps just a little bit over Snowdonia may need.
03:21But generally lots of places having a lot of fine weather just some showers continuing to come down from the north and like I say yes some of them could be quite wintry over higher ground of Scotland.
03:32Temperatures tomorrow are going to be a little bit lower than today so whilst there will be a bit more sunshine on offer it is probably going to feel a little bit chillier especially because there is still going to be some brisk winds.
03:43It's going to be quite blustery especially towards some north sea coastal parts here there's the potential for gales so feeling pretty raw indeed.
03:51Now as we go through the second half of the weekend and into next week well Sundays should start off fine but cold with some frost around but things are going to turn cloudy wet and windy from the northwest as we go through into the latter part of Sunday.
04:07That rain will then clear through as we go into Monday which at the moment Monday is looking largely dry but more wet and windy weather set to arrive in time for Tuesday.
