00:00Plenty of sunshine around today, but not everywhere.
00:04Some parts towards the west of the UK have a bit more cloud,
00:07and there is some showery rain around as well.
00:10We can see that cloud if we look at the pictures from space earlier today.
00:14The satellite imagery clearly showing this swathe of cloud
00:17across parts of Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland,
00:19and pushing down towards southwest England as well.
00:22That's because there is a frontal system here
00:24wrapping its way around an area of low pressure to the southwest of the UK.
00:29Whilst the majority of the country is under the influence of that high pressure,
00:32which is now sitting just to the east of us.
00:35As I mentioned, we do have some rain mixed in with this weather system.
00:39We've already seen some outbreaks of rain across parts of Cornwall in particular,
00:43and there is more of that to come as we go through the rest of the day,
00:46particularly across, yes, Devon Cornwall, parts of southwest Wales,
00:49and as we go through the afternoon, feeding across the Republic of Ireland
00:53and into parts of Northern Ireland as well.
00:55Most places, though, staying dry, lots of sunshine,
00:58and in that sunshine feeling pretty warm temperatures.
01:01Widely in the high teens or low to 20s,
01:04obviously feeling a bit fresher where you have that cloud in the west
01:07and also towards North Sea coastal parts with the wind coming in here,
01:11and so, yeah, a fresher feel for some,
01:13but nonetheless pleasantly warm if you're in the shelter from the breeze.
01:17As always, when it comes to fine sunny weather,
01:20we do need to watch out for a few things.
01:21There are some high levels of pollen around at the moment,
01:23also some high levels of UV across England and Wales as we go through to today,
01:28and even further north across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:30They're moderate but close to high,
01:32so do take care if you're out in the sunshine for a long period of time.
01:36As we go through the end of the day,
01:38the wetter weather across western areas feeds a bit further northwards,
01:41so outbreaks of rain across parts of Northern Ireland feeding into western Scotland
01:45as we go through the night.
01:47Further east, it's staying dry, it's staying clear,
01:51but, yeah, some outbreaks of rain and a bit more cloud towards western parts.
01:56That cloud then is going to play quite a part in how low our temperatures get.
02:00Around western areas where that cloud lingers,
02:03we're going to see temperatures staying in double figures for a few spots,
02:07but further east, markedly fresher than this,
02:09a bit of a chilly start for some of us on Friday morning.
02:12There could even be a touch of frost in some sheltered spots,
02:15particularly across parts of Scotland.
02:17So, a bit of a west-east split as we go through tomorrow.
02:20Cloudier, outbreaks of rain towards the west.
02:23Worth bearing in mind some of the outbreaks of rain today and tomorrow
02:26could be heavy and thundery.
02:28Further east, plenty of dry, sunny weather,
02:31albeit the cloud and the showery rain will feed a bit further east
02:34and northeastwards as we go through the afternoon.
02:37Nonetheless, many eastern parts clinging on to those blue skies,
02:40and temperatures here set to be even higher than today.
02:43We're looking at highs of around 25, 26, possibly 27 Celsius.
02:48Further west, temperatures peg back because of the cloud.
02:52Also worth bearing in mind, there is a breeze around through today through tomorrow,
02:55so that may make it feel ever so slightly cooler than these temperatures suggest,
02:58but nonetheless, it is going to be pretty warm for some of us.
03:01Will the weather last into the bank holiday weekend?
03:05No.
03:05Things are set to turn more changeable
03:07as we go through later Friday and into Saturday.
03:10The showery rain becomes more widespread,
03:12and whilst this weekend's not looking like a total washout,
03:15there will be some dry, fine weather around at times,
03:18and not as warm as on Friday,
03:20but still fairly warm in any sunshine that we get.
03:23We do need to bear in mind there will be some heavy rain,
03:26some thunder mixed in,
03:27perhaps the heaviest thundery rain likely to come Saturday night into Sunday,
03:31but the devil's in the detail.
03:33And to find out more about what we can expect through this weekend,
03:36well, check out our weekend forecast,
03:38which Alex Deacon will be bringing to you later on.
03:40Bye-bye.
