00:00A little adjusting of some payments.
00:02A little finagling on the contract of Myles Garrett,
00:08which does some nice things for the Browns.
00:12It pushes a few things down the road as advantageous to them.
00:16Also being considered advantageous to Myles Garrett
00:20as his bonus money gets pushed back and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:25And the minute you take a look at that and you see what's going on
00:29and you might think what Dan thought, what Andy thought, what I thought,
00:34which is, well, that certainly would make it a little easier to trade Myles Garrett.
00:40Yeah, I would.
00:42And then you read every analyst about what the Browns did
00:45and they say, well, that certainly makes it easier to trade Myles Garrett.
00:49Yep, it does.
00:51Doesn't mean you're going to trade Myles Garrett,
00:54but it certainly puts you in a better position to do that.
00:58We don't even need to get into all the technicals about this.
01:01It pushes bonuses back so that they won't count for a while,
01:06which would make it easier for another team to bring in Myles Garrett now
01:11and would make it less punitive for the Browns to trade him.
01:15That sums it up, right?
01:17Yeah, as I kind of was digesting this last night,
01:21I was just like, you know, who's the advantage here for?
01:26And, you know, did they need to do it?
01:29Yeah, did they need to do it?
01:31And now am I going to have my eyes on June 1st
01:35and anything that could happen after that?
01:36And so just kind of looking at the big picture,
01:40plus the fact the team is trying to get a rule passed with the NFL
01:46about, you know, being able to trade picks into the future.
01:50Which, by the way, as we said when it was proposed, great, fine.
01:56You can understand that.
01:58NFL rule changes of that ilk never pass the first time around
02:03and usually take several years in discussion if it has a chance to pass.
02:09So don't expect that to happen.
02:11But is it a coincidence that the Browns have pitched this idea
02:15of trading picks five years out
02:18and then modify the contract language of Myles Garrett to push bonuses back,
02:23which would make him a little easier to trade?
02:26Well, Jeff, I mean, I know we're saying, no, this isn't going to pass.
02:29We don't think this is going to pass.
02:30But just humor me for a second.
02:31Will you please?
02:32Andy, I've been humoring you for 14-plus years.
02:35What if it does?
02:37Let's just humor me.
02:38Well, fine.
02:38That'd be fine.
02:39If it does, it screams Myles Garrett.
02:44And guess what?
02:45I mean, you'd tell me Dallas wouldn't come after Myles.
02:48And, oh, yeah, you can have all of our – you can have these picks.
02:51That'd be great.
02:54In the right package, I'd trade him in a heartbeat.
02:57Especially if they wanted to give you, like, multiple –
03:00George Pickens?
03:01Multiple?
03:02Who they're having contract issues with?
03:04Well, I'm more looking at the multiple first round.
03:06If you were going to trade Myles, and I'd love to have a body like that.
03:10That'd be awesome.
03:11But, you know, for me, I just started looking at this.
03:15It's like, man, what if that rule passes?
03:18And who knows?
03:21Crazy Trader Jerry down in Dallas might be willing to do something to get Myles to go to Dallas.
03:28I also talked with some folks last night.
03:30If they were going to trade him, please send him to the NFC.
03:33Please.
03:34I don't want to see him in the AFC.
03:36Would you trade Myles Garrett?
03:38Would I?
03:39Yeah.
03:39It depends on what the deal is.
03:42Well, sure.
03:43You could rebuild your franchise.
03:45You're not trading him for Joe Flacco.
03:47No.
03:48Nothing against Joe.
03:49But, you know, put into consideration that the Browns are asking for this rule change from three to five years
03:54on future NFL picks.
03:57Man, if that passed, I don't know.
04:00I don't think we see Myles here next year.
04:03I think somebody would be willing to do that, and I think the Browns would be all in.
04:06Forget the rule.
04:07So, I'm assuming it's not going to pass because that's what all of the experts tell us.
04:13Okay.
04:13Not going to pass.
04:14I don't trust experts.
04:15Oh, good.
04:16I'm glad we have them on the show all the time.
04:18Mm-hmm.
04:19Other than you, Jeff, I trust you.
04:21Yeah, well, the minute I get expertise in anything, I'll let you know.
04:25Jeff, driving a car into the ground, you are the man.
04:28You are the man.
04:30Dog pound daily.
04:31Mock trade.
04:33Dallas gets Myles Garrett.
04:34Yeah.
04:35Browns get a 20-27 first-round pick, a 20-28 first-round pick, a 20-28 third-round pick,
04:43and wide receiver George Pickens.
04:47Why would I do that trade in a heartbeat?
04:50It's this.
04:51And Myles, to me, is the best defensive player in the NFL.
04:55I think he's phenomenal.
04:57He clearly is phenomenal.
04:59Mm-hmm.
04:5923 sacks last year and helped his team win five games.
05:04Mm-hmm.
05:0514 sacks the year before.
05:08Outstanding.
05:09Three wins.
05:12Trey Hendrickson, terrific defensive lineman for the Cincinnati Bengals.
05:17They went 6-11.
05:18Right.
05:19Trey was hurt.
05:20Micah Parsons, Green Bay gives up a boatload for him, and they went 9-7-1.
05:27That was okay.
05:29Max Crosby, great defensive end.
05:31Yeah.
05:323-14 for the Raiders.
05:34Max Crosby helped them get the number one overall pick.
05:38Ryan Burns was second in sacks in the NFL last year, 16-1.
05:44Giants went 4-13.
05:47As good as Myles Garrett is, Myles Garrett alone will not help this team get to the playoffs.
05:55Alone.
05:57I mean, if you have a good team, do you want Myles Garrett on it?
06:00You're dang right you do.
06:02I think he's phenomenal.
06:04He's 30 this coming season.
06:07How many good years does he have left?
06:09Three?
06:10Four?
06:12Yeah.
06:12If I could get multiple first-round picks and a player the caliber of George Pickens at a position the
06:18Browns sorely need,
06:19I would trade Myles in a heartbeat.
06:20So, basically, what you're saying is there was a third-round pick in there, too?
06:26Yep.
06:26Okay.
06:26Two firsts, a third, and a top-notch wide receiver who would clearly be the best wide receiver this team
06:32has who happened to play at Georgia when Todd Munkin was the offensive coordinator.
06:38All right.
06:38So, you're talking about basically the same trade as Max Crosby plus a third in Pickens.
06:48Is that really what you're – your two first-round picks?
06:50Yeah.
06:51Yeah.
06:53And, again, I think Myles is tremendous.
06:56I've got to be honest.
06:56If they want to trade him, I hope that rule goes through, the rule change goes through, because I think
07:01they can get a lot more.
07:02Well, but I don't think they can.
07:05No team Andy's going to give you three or four first-round picks for a 30-year-old defensive end.
07:11The defensive player of the year?
07:12That's not – it's his age.
07:15How many really good years does he have left?
07:17Three or four.
07:19How much – what do you think Myles Garrett would be worth to the Cowboys, though?
07:23You know what I'm saying?
07:24Send him back home.
07:25It's not like they're hurting for tickets.
07:26I would think George Pickens, two firsts and a third, would be a tremendous haul.
07:32No, no, I'm saying – but beyond that –
07:34The Cowboys had Micah Parsons.
07:35Yeah, I know.
07:36And so now you bring Myles Garrett, you know, back to Texas, and, like, I just think there's –
07:43Cowboys don't need help selling tickets.
07:45No, it's not tickets.
07:47Is it jerseys?
07:48Is it – there's little things that go on beyond it.
07:50Jerry's filthy rich.
07:51They don't need that.
07:52What they need is –
07:53Guys who are filthy rich don't mind making money, though.
07:56Yeah, I know.
07:56I got to – when's the last time you walked up and you go, you know what, Jeff?
07:59I just – I have way too much money.
08:02I can't – I don't – I can't – I can't make any more money.
08:05I don't want to make any more money.
08:07It's nickel and dime stuff compared to what they could do if they win big.
08:11And Myles could –
08:12Well, don't you think –
08:13Miles could help them win now.
08:14But George Pickens can help them win now.
08:19If it meant for Dallas winning big and it was a game changer and it's a difference, you know,
08:24like being in the playoffs and going further into the playoffs.
08:30Dallas had as close to Myles Garrett as you might get in the NFL and they traded him away.
08:35Yeah, they did.
08:38So is that regret?
08:40Is that wheel of regret?
08:41No.
08:41What it is is I just don't think Myles' value is, you know, four to five first-round picks
08:47so that the entire thought of trading draft picks down the road –
08:51I mean, if you've got two –
08:52Maybe it's a couple more seconds.
08:53If you've got two number ones, a third, and George Pickens, something like that,
08:58Andy, I would do that trade right now.
09:00Well, and that's no disrespect to Myles, but an aging defensive end who's clearly at the top of his game.
09:09But is he going to be at the top of his game in three years?
09:12Is your team going to be competitive this year and have a chance for the playoffs?
09:16Or are you going to waste another phenomenal season by one of the best defensive players to ever play the
09:20game?
09:21I think you'd waste another defensive season.
09:23But if you go get George Pickens, you get a couple of first-round picks –
09:27and I'm just throwing this trade out as the trade that was thrown out.
09:31Other teams could do similar things.
09:34I would do it.
09:36And it's not because of Myles.
09:38It's because of where the Browns are.
09:41And if they adjusted things contractually to make it easier to trade him, okay.
09:47Then let the offers fly.
09:50Now, what comes back into play here is this to me, Andy.
09:54You trust this front office to pull off a trade that would really be hugely beneficial?
09:59I think they could – the framework of it would appear to be beneficial.
10:04It's the execution of the framework that I think scares us.
10:07Like, let's just – I'll give you your trade.
10:09Okay, maybe I say yes.
10:10Two first-rounders, Pickens, and a third.
10:13Okay?
10:13I'm asking for –
10:14It's not my trade.
10:15It's Dog Pound Daily.
10:16Okay, well, Dog Pound Daily.
10:17Let's just say that trade works out, okay?
10:19I think I trust the Browns to pull off a deal that seems equitable, right?
10:25And it would give you two first-round picks in next year's quarterback-heavy draft.
10:29That's my question, though.
10:30And you're right, Jeff.
10:31It's like, do you trust them with those two first-round picks?
10:34Do you, folks?
10:36216-474-0092.
10:38They adjust Myles' contract.
10:41The benefit seems to be makes him more valuable in the trade because it would be less on the team
10:47that takes him on.
10:48It would be less punitive on the Browns.
10:50Myles still gets all of his money.
10:53That appears to be what's happened here.
10:55Would you trade him?
10:57Would you trade him if you're the Cleveland Browns?
10:59Are we the only two sitting here going, I think they paved the way to trade him?
11:03No, I think everybody is, and I don't think Browns fans care.
11:06You don't think they care?
11:08I don't think so.
11:08I think Browns fans would be upset if Myles Garrett, like, right now we're kind of in the weeds.
11:14Like, this is the kind of stuff, this is the precursor to a major move like that,
11:18and I don't think anybody's kind of, like, wait, what are you talking about?
11:23Like, restructure and maybe the Browns might get this rule to pass.
11:28What do you mean?
11:29They might trade Myles Garrett?
11:30What?
11:30And then all of a sudden, they trade Myles Garrett, and they're like, well, what are they doing?
11:34Why do they trade Myles Garrett?
11:35I don't understand.
11:37We're sitting here right now.
11:39We're right in the sweet spot of something that could happen.
11:44The deal that we threw out, it's been out, Dog Pound Daily put it out, Cowboys, Myles Garrett,
11:52two number ones, a number three, and George Pickens.
11:57For where this team is right now, three wins, five wins, new head coach, new offensive system,
12:06new defensive coordinator, hope it gels with Myles Garrett.
12:10With where this team is right now, I don't know why you wouldn't take a trade like that
12:16if it were offered to you.
12:19Where this team is right now, and knowing where they're going underneath a roof at some point
12:25where they've got to sell tickets for folks that will be moving from the old to the new.
12:30In several years.
12:31They are teeing themselves up to make the Indians move, right?
12:36Right?
12:38Explain.
12:39Well, when the Indians moved out of the old ballpark prior to their final year, final two years,
12:45where you could see a little bit of promise and some hope coming up through the farm system,
12:48and then, boom, magically, everything seemed to work when they, you know, what they...
12:53In year number two of the new ballpark.
12:54Yeah.
12:56Although, with the work stoppage, they were on their way, right?
12:59Well, who knows?
13:01Weren't they in first place when the work stoppage happened?
13:03I don't believe they were.
13:04Or second?
13:04They were in the playoffs.
13:05They were looking better, without question.
13:09I don't remember specifically where they were.
13:11It was your number two when they went nuts, obviously.
13:13Yeah.
13:14Won 100 games, won 144.
13:15But let's be honest.
13:16You went from a ballpark that was old municipal, dead, to the last season where everyone wanted
13:22to get a piece of nostalgia.
13:23It wasn't dead for the Browns.
13:24I still think the municipal was awesome for the Browns, even though it was too big.
13:30It was perfect for football, horrible for baseball.
13:32I would differ completely, but that's okay.
13:35You thought it was great for baseball?
13:36Well, let's talk about Miles Garrett.
13:38But you've got to tell me why you thought that was a good baseball.
13:41I just enjoyed sitting there watching games.
13:43I thought it was much better sight lines than for football.
13:46I thought we were 10,000 miles away.
13:48It was more that way for football.
13:50And for football, I thought it was about the experience of being those people.
13:53Mary Kay Cabot.
13:54But they're ramping up the same kind of way.
13:56Is that fair?
13:57Going back to the original point.
13:58We were hoping they are.
14:00Yeah.
14:00They haven't proven anything yet.
14:01Three wins, five wins, fire the coach, bring in a new coach, keep the GM in place, put together
14:06the bad roster.
14:07I'm enthused.
14:08Wow.
14:09Bitter.
14:10No, I'm not bitter.
14:11I'm just being realistic.
14:12Mary Kay Cabot covers the team for the Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com.
14:16She was on the morning show.
14:18She was discussing with our fabulous duo of Ken Carman and Anthony Lima.
14:23The idea of trading Miles Garrett after these adjustments to his contract.
14:28I don't know if you can say that with any degree of certainty that it's going to prevent
14:33them from getting the quarterback.
14:34Certainly other teams have found a way to get a quarterback and to be successful without
14:41having to use the number one pick on the quarterback or the number two pick or whatever
14:46the case may be.
14:47I mean, there are plenty of teams that you can cite that have fixed their quarterback
14:53situation without having to do that.
14:55So I don't, as it stands right now, I don't think, and I wrote this last night, they don't,
15:02I know they don't have any plans to trade him right now.
15:07Okay.
15:07Right now.
15:08Yeah.
15:09Those are the key words.
15:10And as soon as they redid the deal, somebody probably called, bring, bring, Andrew, what's
15:16going on?
15:16They had an old, he's got an old fashioned phone.
15:18Hey, what's going on?
15:20Thinking about trading Miles?
15:21Smells that way on the outside.
15:23Well, I would think that that might be the case and maybe some team jumps in and makes
15:26him an offer and that's where this goes.
15:30But if, if you look at timelines, Miles is 30 this coming season, he'll turn 31 late in
15:38the year, late December.
15:40And, you know, certainly in the prime of his career, he's a beast.
15:43I mean, he's, he's just outstanding.
15:46But with the best defensive effort in sacking quarterbacks, the NFL has ever seen the team
15:51won five games.
15:54He can't do it by himself.
15:55And he was part of a good defense.
15:58If, if the right opportunity came along, if I'm them, I go for it.
16:04And I don't hesitate to do it.
16:07And you have the sixth pick in the draft, Andy.
16:09If you made a trade and traded Miles Garrett, it would signify to me a couple of things.
16:15Number one, you're in it for the long haul.
16:17You know, you're not worried about this coming season and you sure as you know what, better
16:22give Todd Munkin a pass on your number one, which means you better give him, you better
16:26give him two or three years if you were to trade Miles Garrett.
16:30You better give him two or three years.
16:32Otherwise, what are you doing?
16:36And you could use, that would open up the sixth pick in the draft for a defensive end.
16:43Go draft a defensive end.
16:44Replace Miles.
16:46Go get a, go get a guy who's 22 years old and is on, on his way to becoming a
16:52big time
16:53defensive end.
16:55Add your offensive tackle.
16:57Get a number one pick for 2027.
17:00Get your quarterback.
17:01I mean, there are all kinds of things you can do, but you would have to be, I would think
17:06any willing to accept and sell to your fan base.
17:10Guys, we're building this thing for the long term.
17:14And Todd Munkin is here for the rebuild.
17:17And this is what we're doing.
17:20And then I'd be really willing to sell off other, other parts of guys who are at that
17:24magic number that begins with a three when it comes to their age.
17:29I mean, you hit the nail on the head with that, especially with the, the three part of the
17:35age.
17:35I just, I just think fans would be upset if they traded Miles.
17:39And I don't know.
17:40Well, I would think they should be because people don't look at things rationally.
17:45You know, I, do I want to trade Miles Garrett?
17:48Heck no.
17:49He's phenomenal.
17:51But if somebody called and made the right offer for a team that just won five games,
17:57man, how do you not listen?
17:58You have to listen.
17:59Of course.
18:00I think those phone calls happen more often than we think.
18:02Well, that's their job.
18:03You bet they do.
18:06Is there an uproar, though, of our bronze fans if they trade Miles Garrett?
18:10Because here you sit with one of the best players in the game and, you know, and you're
18:15going to let him go.
18:16But no matter what, and you're doing it basically for prospects or in that scenario, you would
18:21get one.
18:23You know, you'd get one guy, you'd get Pickens for sure.
18:26So it's just like, I, I just think bronze fans would, would revolt a little if they traded
18:31Miles Garrett.
18:31And then if you watch Garrett go somewhere and win a Superbowl, oh man, you want to talk
18:35about wheel regret.
18:36We sit here and talk about, we talk about Baker Mayfield.
18:39We talk about in and of himself, isn't going to win a Superbowl.
18:42I gave you proof of that in the first segment.
18:44Trey Hendrickson's team was six and 11.
18:46Michael Parsons was nine, seven, and one.
18:48Max Crosby's was three and 14.
18:51Brian Burns was four and 13.
18:52And the Browns were five and 12.
18:54But if you, Jeff, if you're a bad team with at least one good player, what, right, why are
19:00you looking to get rid of your one good player?
19:02Because he can help you build the team.
19:06If, if you look at it, you know, just put the pieces together here.
19:09Is this team ready to win big next year?
19:13I don't know that.
19:14I would think not.
19:17Is Miles ready to win big?
19:19Yeah, he probably is.
19:21Yeah.
19:21He's getting paid big.
19:23And he's 30.
19:24And I, you know, Miles wants to win a Superbowl.
19:26Miles went to press row at, uh, at the Superbowl two years ago and said, get me out of here.
19:32What was the conversation?
19:34I'll always want, other than money, what was the conversation that kept him here?
19:38Why did Andrew say, how did Andrew get him to stay?
19:41How did Jimmy get him to stay for another year?
19:44And I don't think, I, Browns fans, would you be shocked if they traded him?
19:47I, I, I'm at the point where I say no.
19:51I say no.
19:52I mean, yeah, he got the sack record.
19:53That's awesome.
19:54But you're right.
19:56It's about building for the future.
19:57I, I just, I just think there'd be an uproar if they trade him no matter what.
