00:06Oh
00:07My god, I'm just not into roller coasters. I love roller coasters
00:19My god
00:31Oh
00:55Hi designers
00:57Hi, how's everyone feeling?
01:00Great
01:01Well, I'm pretty sure that I warned you guys that this season is going to be full of surprises
01:06I feel like you need a little excitement. You need to be turned upside down. Yeah, well with that in
01:13mind
01:13I am sending you on a trip
01:15Oh
01:16A trip
01:17A trip. What kind of trip?
01:19What trip? Because the last time y'all sent me was going to a press party and y'all slid
01:23in a challenge
01:25You're going to Universal Orlando Resort
01:31Tim and a special guest will meet you there
01:33Have fun!
01:34Bye!
01:35Bye!
01:35Bye!
01:37What's going on?
01:38All right, Florida, let's do that
01:44We pull up to the hotel and it is beautiful
01:49We're pretty excited because we're pretty pumped to get out of New York and take like a little mental break
01:54from it
02:00Look, look, look
02:01There's like mountains over there
02:04Hi
02:04Hi
02:05Hello
02:05Designers, this is quite a change of scenery, is it not?
02:09Yes
02:09Welcome to Universal Orlando Resort and please welcome Mike West, director and executive producer of Universal Creative
02:17Hello designers, we are so happy to have you here and I'm thrilled to introduce you to our brand new
02:24Multi-dimensional experience Skull Island Reign of Calm
02:28Nice
02:30And designers, the jungle on Skull Island reminds me of another jungle, the urban jungle
02:36So for this challenge, you will use your expedition through Skull Island as inspiration to create streetwear looks for the
02:44urban jungle, the city
02:46So one jungle inspires another
02:49Streetwear is not something that I do on an everyday basis like some other designers, but it is something that
02:54I see all the time
02:55Streetwear is like the epitome of my existence, so hopefully I'm gonna crush this
03:01I don't know, I mean either way, I'm here next week guys, I have immunity
03:04Alright designers, you're off to Skull Island
03:07Thank you
03:07Have fun
03:11Because I was in the bottom on the last challenge, I definitely was feeling like really going down a low
03:16point, but I'm feeling really rejuvenated
03:29I'm feeling really rejuvenated
03:32Things are jumping out at me
03:37You have all these freaking dinosaurs coming at you
03:41And they're like right up at your face
03:44So I see Kate, she's strong, she's badass
03:47And I say hey, I would design for her
03:54There's this heroine, the main character, and she is in like cargo pants
03:58And I'm like okay cargo, cargo, there's my first inspiration, I got some cargo
04:01Let's go
04:07That was awesome
04:09Woo
04:14Pretty
04:15Tutti frutti
04:16How was the ride? Pretty intense, right?
04:19So fun
04:20Well designers, we thought you deserved a beautiful, relaxing place to help your creativity flow
04:25And as you can see, we strive to create these kind of wide variety of experiences
04:30And right now, we're working on our latest immersive water theme park
04:35Volcano Bay, here at the Universal Orlando Resort
04:38The perfect Pacific Island paradise
04:40Alright designers, we're heading back to New York tonight, to our very own concrete jungle
04:45And you have one day for this challenge, alright?
04:50So designers, your 30 minutes to sketch begins right now
04:54Wow
04:56Shade
04:57Cheers
05:00Okay
05:01Whew
05:05Last challenge sucked really hard because I was in the bottom
05:09But I feel really confident about this challenge
05:11I do street style myself
05:13So my sketch is absolutely inspired by the bats in the Skoll Island ride
05:17I love creating dolmen sleeve jackets
05:20A dolmen sleeve is like a bat sleeve
05:22Like, you know, you can kind of fly away with it
05:25Streetwear is more like how you wear your clothes and how you swag it
05:29I come up with this cute little outfit
05:31A pair of drop couch pants
05:33And it's like a bomber jacket with puffy arms
05:37Kind of look like one of the little creature that was spitting water at us in the ride
05:42Come on everyone off we go
05:55I have my eye out for a stripe because I want to make a striped pant
06:00Can I do one and a half yards, please?
06:02I also want to play with geometric shapes
06:05My eye catches this geometric motif and it reminds me of that tribal aspect of Skoll Island
06:13Thank you so much
06:17Thank you so much
06:17Do you want these three for sure?
06:18Yes
06:18For this bomber jacket, I'm trying to stay away from leather but it's impossible
06:24People call me a leather designer which I don't think I am
06:27It's just that that's what people chose to remember
06:30Alright designers, time is up, no more shopping
06:33Thank you guys so much
06:34Thank you
06:35Thank you so much
06:36Thank you Mood
06:37Thank you Mood
06:38Thank you Mood
06:39Bye Swallow
06:40Bye Swallow
06:52Designers, what a whirlwind we have had
06:55Yes
06:57You have until midnight tonight for this challenge
07:01I will be in later to check in with you
07:03And your models will be in after that for a fitting
07:06And please take advantage of the brother sewing room
07:08Alright, work hard everyone
07:10Thank you
07:11Thank you
07:16That ride was pretty cool though
07:18Very cool
07:19I was very surprised
07:20Laurence, weren't you so happy when King Kong just saved us out of nowhere?
07:24He's very sexy
07:26I love King Kong
07:28You're doing your pants first Brick?
07:30Yeah
07:31Cool
07:31I'm making a pair of pants which I haven't made since the first two challenges when I got really
07:37grilled for making pants that were weird with tops
07:41I feel like this is definitely the time to do it right
07:44Oh
07:45My first thing is to start with the most difficult piece which is the jacket
07:52I'm not inventing a new jacket
07:54It's just how you do it
07:55It's just fabric that you use
07:56And putting your signature in it and just playing with details
08:00I don't know
08:01I feel like Laurence is just using one technique and spreading it out amongst different looks
08:07So it's like borderline one trick pony
08:10Now I just have to remember how to pattern cargo pockets but I'm pretty good at them
08:14Oh, it's such a tough thing
08:16Maybe I should have added the half actually
08:18Dexter is freaking out a little bit
08:20I know but then I have this too
08:21He's all over the place
08:22Stuck between these two greens
08:24Oof
08:25You know who's going home next
08:39This is a really dope print
08:41It's like so reptile
08:42It looks like one of those worms that were like jumping out at us on the ride
08:45Totally, that's awesome
08:46For this challenge we're supposed to take the inspiration from the ride
08:49Skull Island Reign of Kong
08:51And turn that into like a street wear look for the urban jungle
09:01Why am I surprised to find a quiet workroom?
09:04How is everyone?
09:06Good
09:07Quietly good, alright
09:08Let's see what you're doing
09:10How's Cornelius?
09:12Good
09:12Okay
09:13So what I wanted to create was a drop crotch pant
09:16Which is going to be mixed media
09:18So it's going to be this denim
09:19And then this denim like under it
09:22And then for the top
09:24I wanted to create like a little tank top like this very simplistic
09:27Okay
09:28I'm playing with a pleating technique
09:30Just make certain it doesn't go from street to a Broadway version of street
09:36Thank you
09:37Thank you Cornelius
09:39Basically I wanted to do like sort of like the heroine of the movie
09:42Who you know obviously it's more street wear
09:44But she kind of gets a little sucked more into the jungle life
09:46Because she's there for so long
09:48And so I wanted to come up with a really nice cargo short
09:51And then I wanted to do like a jacket with a mandarin collar
09:54I have these shoulders and I was going to build these little circles
09:57They'll be about like this big
09:58Here's my conundrum
09:59On the one hand I want to encourage you to just run with this
10:04Exactly as you're describing it to me
10:05On the other hand based on our last experience with the judges
10:09And not just you but this room writ large
10:12Mm-hmm
10:12Is there a risk that they're going to say Dexter it's too costuming?
10:17I just I feel like I feel like they need to see me off the grid
10:19And it would bum me out if it sent me home
10:21But it would bum me out more if I did something that
10:22Right
10:23Didn't feel like me
10:24If you're going to go home you should go home for something that you love
10:26And just do it if there were ever a challenge that gives you a license to do that
10:31It's this one Dexter a thousand percent
10:33Okay, thank you for it
10:35Rick how are you handling street wear?
10:39I think I've got my hands on it
10:41I was going for something that textile wise
10:44That kind of emulated the like 4d 3d experience of the ride
10:49And I loved how this print had that sort of zebra feel but without being zebra
10:54And then for the top I've bought this vinyl
10:57Kind of picks up on that whole gorilla muscular structure
11:01But taking it to a geometric place
11:02This has huge potential for being a knockout
11:05Thank you
11:06Okay, work work work
11:08Talk to me
11:09Underneath the jacket I'm going to make a pair of short
11:13With pleat in this fabric
11:15Street wear has more of an edge
11:18Let the luster of this
11:20Tarnish a bit
11:22So it doesn't look so polished
11:24I'm taking kind of a spin on boxier silhouettes
11:28Okay
11:28My customers back at home
11:30They would want to purchase this top at this height
11:33And then have their pants showing like this
11:36Do it
11:36Do you
11:37Okay
11:38I was thinking of more of like this punk rocker
11:41Like a classic denim vest or jacket
11:44With the sleeves cut off
11:45I could even shorten it maybe just a little bit more
11:48So it's not so
11:49It's better already
11:49Yeah
11:51Erin I'm wrapped
11:52What are you doing?
11:53I'm going back to my
11:54My knee
11:55Where I like to mess with this stuff
11:56Well you can do it now
11:57You stepped away
11:58It's time to return
11:59Cool
12:00Yeah I feel that
12:01I look at this and I see
12:02A 21st century fashion interpretation of a Rousseau painting
12:06Oh
12:07We're going to peering through all that foliage
12:10Yeah I definitely took the foliage as like the main inspiration
12:13I just don't want you to be derailed tomorrow morning
12:17Okay
12:17Yeah I can do that
12:17Because look at all this work
12:19Yeah definitely
12:20Tim he's obviously concerned about time
12:22Which he should be
12:23But if I can really pull off these shorts
12:25The way that my brain is like envisioning it
12:27Definitely going to be in the top three
12:30How are you handling this urban streetwear challenge?
12:32Pretty well
12:33I mean like I usually design like streetwear
12:35So I'm excited for it
12:38So I'm going with a dolman sleeve jacket
12:40It's so heavy
12:42It's not going to move a lot
12:43I'm just not getting the streetwear feel
12:46I just want you to take it out of the 19th century
12:49And bring it into the 21st
12:50Maybe I could make it a little shorter
12:53The pant will have more of an impact
12:54And it will show the pants more
12:55Yeah
12:55Because I am doing patch pockets here
12:58Patch pockets here
12:59Which we won't even see
12:59Unless she removes this
13:01Exactly
13:02That's a good point
13:04Alright Natalia
13:04Create a winner
13:05Alright thank you
13:06Okay
13:07I decided to scrap the faux fur
13:08And then I decided to just finish my jacket
13:11And I'm definitely going to crop it
13:12Because he is right
13:14It does look more chic cropped
13:17So I was inspired by the whole like safari aspect
13:21Urban jungle
13:22So I thought a really cool strapless dress
13:25I wanted to do play with like this netting that I found
13:28And overlay it over top of the denim
13:30I think the gold with the denim is very street
13:33This is a different critique than we had the last time
13:36I know
13:36Thank you
13:37Alright Tim
13:38So I'm making a bomber inspired dinosaur jacket
13:43Which is this one
13:45I have
13:45And I have like a safari drop crotch pants
13:49Oh you're using khaki
13:50I'm going to make a pants
13:51How low do you see the drop crotch being?
13:53Kind of like the one I have on right now
13:54Oh okay
13:55Not too low
13:56It's beautifully done
13:58It's beautifully constructed
13:59I have every confidence that the pants will be the same
14:02Laurence's leather jacket
14:03It's so perfect
14:04Laurence is just queen of the leather
14:05It's good
14:06Alright I'm going to leave you alone
14:07Okay
14:08Okay
14:08Thank you
14:10Alright designers
14:11This has been a good session
14:12You understand what you're doing
14:15And you have until midnight tonight
14:18Your models will be in in 30 minutes
14:20I will see you in the morning
14:21Continue this trajectory
14:23Thank you
14:23Thank you
14:33Are you almost done?
14:35I have to finish my top
14:36And then put a waistband in the pants
14:38And hem them
14:40And then hem the top
14:41And then finish all the edges of it
14:43And then cut the back of the top
14:44You're in a good place?
14:45Yeah
14:46I do need to consider the scale of the vinyl print
14:51With the wavy stripe pattern of the pants
14:54To make sure that they don't battle one another too much
15:01Oh my god
15:02Hey girlfriends
15:03So I have a little tank here for you
15:05And this
15:06And I'm working on the pants
15:07So I'll have the pants for you tomorrow
15:08Okay
15:08Happy days are here
15:09They fit good
15:12Okay
15:13I'll just take it in right under the boom
15:15Brick is most definitely an amazing designer
15:18His tailoring skills are impeccable
15:20But it's his fabric choices that he needs to change
15:23Bye ladies
15:24Bye
15:27Thank god I so fast
15:33I have to take a step back
15:35I have to take a step back
15:35Because it's so much going on
15:37And those types of textiles
15:39Like that optical illusion type thing
15:41It has this way of warping your mind
15:45They do kind of trip me out
15:46Yeah
15:48All right y'all
15:49Time's up
15:50Let's dance bop this heezy
15:52For sheezy
15:55Bye
15:56Bye
15:56Bye
15:56Bye
16:04Good morning
16:05Oh my god
16:06Oh my god
16:07Oh my god
16:31There's so much to do
16:36I'm tucking
16:36Cutting
16:37Snipping
16:37Moving
16:38For the fashion designer song
16:39Cutting
16:40Pinning
16:41Snipping
16:41Turning
16:41Moving it around
16:43Hey
16:45Okay girly
16:46I have things for you to try on
16:48I got mad to do.
16:50I have the pants completely done,
16:52but I only have an hour and some change to finish her top.
16:56I'm a little bit nervous.
16:57And I have to still sew the what's it called.
17:00A lot nervous.
17:07Hi, Brynn, how are you?
17:09I'm doing well.
17:10The feel of what I'm going for, these are the textiles.
17:12Focus on the beautiful lashes.
17:14I love to do an ombre like this.
17:16Yeah.
17:18Big luscious hair, neutral eye, eyebrows,
17:22and a beautiful chocolate mouth.
17:23Yeah.
17:24So I'm kind of taking it to like the punk LA scene
17:28and liner for days.
17:29Now, lip with this, that's called shock tart.
17:32Beautiful.
17:36Give me a little background on your girl.
17:37When she wakes up in the morning,
17:38I think she does this like slick back thing.
17:40Could we add a little like wave to the slick back?
17:43Yeah.
17:44Very Ram style, full cornrows, and they come down to about waist.
17:48Add like some movement to the braid.
17:50Please, please.
17:51Like if it comes up and comes down.
17:52That is what I want.
17:53I really like her texture.
17:56What can we do?
17:57If we do something where we have like a really cool large graphic braid coming through.
18:02Perfect.
18:07I want you to keep your hand in one pocket, then when you get to the end of the runway,
18:10put your hand in this pocket like that.
18:12Even though I was nervous, my look is solid, it's totally street wear, but it's still innovative
18:18and new.
18:18I have a chance of winning this challenge.
18:20Designers and models, we're going down to the runway.
18:23Follow me, please.
18:25Oh, thank you.
18:26I'm so excited.
18:29Oh, I'm nervous.
18:30I know the judges are going to call me out on construction of that top.
18:34You always do me so good.
18:36I can't do anything else.
18:38Time's up.
18:38Well, the fabulous show, I hope.
18:49Hello, everybody, and welcome to the runway.
18:51Hi.
18:52As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
18:56There are 10 of you here, and after tonight, there will be nine.
19:00We sent you on a whirlwind trip to Universal Orlando Resort in Florida.
19:05You were to use your experience at Skull Island, Reign of Kong, as inspiration for fashion-forward
19:10street wear for the urban jungle.
19:13Jenny, since you were the winner of the last challenge, you have immunity and you cannot
19:17be eliminated today.
19:19And designers, I have another surprise for you.
19:22That was the last immunity of the season.
19:25Good lord.
19:27Game is on.
19:28At this point, no one is safe.
19:31Let's say hello to our judges.
19:32First, we have creative director of Brooks Brothers Women and fashion designer, Zach Posen.
19:37Hi, designers.
19:38Hi, Zach.
19:39Creative director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
19:42Hi, guys.
19:43Hi, guys.
19:44And our first guest judge, designer and investor on Lifetime's upcoming new show, Fashion Startup,
19:50Rebecca Minkoff.
19:51Welcome.
19:52Hi, guys.
19:53Oh, my God.
19:54That's my wallet.
19:55And our second guest judge, actress, Carly Chaikin, star of the hit series, Mr. Robot.
20:02Welcome.
20:03Hi.
20:04Also, we have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
20:07As you know, Tim is your mentor and will not be judging your looks.
20:10That said, he has the Tim Gunn safe.
20:12We have an anonymous runway show, which means the judges do not know which designer created
20:17which look.
20:18All right.
20:18Let's start the show.
20:26I've created something that is very different from what everyone else has done.
20:30And it's either going to resonate in a good way or a bad way with the judges.
20:39I'm feeling like I really hit the nail on the head with this one.
20:48I'm extremely happy with my garment.
20:52I did step out of the box.
20:54It definitely represents my rock kind of chola vibe.
20:56That looks really good.
21:10I'm so happy that it looks like my vision, that it's reading well.
21:15It looks really chic and amazing.
21:22I got this.
21:23I love your jacket.
21:33I'm loving it except I'm bothered with the crouch area.
21:54It has a little bit of menswear.
21:57It has a little bit of fluidity.
21:59It has color.
22:00It has texture.
22:02It's street style, but it's very refined.
22:05And I'm very happy with the result.
22:14I think my model looks extremely sexy, chic, sophisticated, the exact way I want her to look.
22:24I think I'm going to be in the top.
22:35It doesn't look terrible, but there's more time than it could have been better.
22:44I'm really just hoping that I'm safe.
22:56Ooh, I'm so excited.
22:58It's so extreme and fun.
23:00I think it's Project Runway.
23:01Stuff should be interesting.
23:04The color is gorgeous.
23:05I'm just pumped about it.
23:06I love my design.
23:19I'm loving my pants.
23:20I think I put a pop of color, which I noticed that there wasn't a lot of color on the
23:24runway.
23:29I think my look is very hood couture.
23:40I feel great about my look.
23:42It's hella cute.
23:42She's looking hella fresh.
23:46I absolutely love it.
23:48I would wear it.
23:58Okay, we have just learned which designer created which look.
24:01If I call your name.
24:03If I call your name, please step forward.
24:05Robbery.
24:06Rick.
24:08Majin.
24:10Jenny.
24:12If I've called your name, congratulations.
24:15Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next round.
24:18He keeps the runway.
24:26The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
24:29One of you will be named the winner.
24:32And one of you will be out.
24:37Erin, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
24:40When Tim talked about taking the island theme to a concrete city, so I kind of wanted to
24:45bring in gray into it.
24:46Then also I wanted to bring in the colors of the jungle without it being so obvious, but
24:51it just kind of combined like the two jungles together.
24:53Well, I always appreciate your thought process.
24:57Today, it looks like she got sick on the ride.
25:00I have to agree with Zach.
25:02I feel like it falls short.
25:03The construction of it looks ill-fitting.
25:06The embroidery looks like hay, which doesn't really have much to do with the jungle.
25:09I appreciate what you were trying to do, but I just feel like it was a miss.
25:14The top was interesting and a cool idea, but I think the fit is not the best.
25:19The back of that top should have been the front.
25:22Correct, yeah.
25:23Coulda, shoulda, woulda.
25:24It is what it is.
25:27This is the time as a designer when you really have to refocus and push it, because now the
25:33competition's on.
25:36Dexter, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
25:39I'm like a big fan of off-beat street wear, so I kind of wanted to create a vibe using
25:44denim, but then also going with the theme of it being like a safari color.
25:47I tried in different ways to just kind of give the feel of someone that could have been
25:50out there for a while.
25:51There's a little bit of hood in there, too.
25:52I'm from Oakland, so I brought a little bit of that with it.
25:54I love her attitude from head to toe.
25:58I love her hair, her makeup, her earrings, her shoes.
26:01The buttons that you chose.
26:03I painted them.
26:04It feels very strong.
26:06It's a great moment in fashion, and I think that we need more disruptors.
26:09Oh my God, my heart right now is doing things I didn't know my heart could do.
26:14I don't think this is disrupting fashion, unfortunately.
26:18It looks like it went to the wrong theme park.
26:23I'm not loving this look either.
26:25Okay.
26:25It's definitely memorable.
26:27It's just not my taste.
26:28It's trying too hard to be avant-garde.
26:30I don't know who this girl is.
26:32I don't want to be that girl.
26:35Whew.
26:36It's hot up here.
26:37This was definitely, walking down the runway, one of the ones that caught my eye because
26:42it was very interesting.
26:43The shorts are great.
26:44Are those gloves?
26:46Mm-hmm.
26:46Dexter.
26:47I love the gloves.
26:48Oh, thank you.
26:49Welcome.
26:50It's really unique.
26:53It's a fine line between attempting something avant-garde and bordering on costumey.
26:57And from the shadow before she came out, I could see the shoulders were uneven.
27:01If you're going to attempt something like that, it has to be perfect.
27:04Okay.
27:05Sometimes it's hard for people to get comfortable with something that is strange.
27:10I do applaud you, Dexter.
27:13Natalia, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
27:16I was inspired by the bats inside the ride, by their wings.
27:19So I decided to do an exaggerated dolman sleeve.
27:22The urban girl wants to layer in the winter under her jacket.
27:26And the colors were also inspired from the ride.
27:29I love her.
27:32I want to be her.
27:33I love the easiness, the coolness.
27:36I just love her vibe.
27:37You nailed it today.
27:39Thank you so much.
27:40If I saw this in a mannequin at a store, I would be like, where is this?
27:44I want to buy the entire outfit.
27:45That jacket is amazing.
27:47I love the pockets.
27:48I love seeing it when she put her arms out.
27:51She just looks really just effortlessly chic.
27:53Thank you so much.
27:55This was impeccable.
27:57Can we see the jacket off?
28:00Yeah.
28:01Perfect.
28:02I like the fact that you played with this incredible volume.
28:07And you had it here with that jacket.
28:09The pants might have been a tad too long.
28:12She's way too cool to be wearing the chandelier earrings.
28:14Other than that, I think you did a great job.
28:16Thank you so much, Nina.
28:18That means a lot coming from you.
28:20When this came down the runway, I saw a silhouette that just looked like something that feels
28:25forward thinking, but still accessible and street style.
28:28Thank you so much.
28:30Rick, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
28:33At the Skull Island ride, I was immediately inspired by the whole experience of all of
28:39these things just coming so close to you, but you knew it wasn't real.
28:43I wanted to channel that and put that into street style.
28:46I'm having trouble with this look because I feel like she almost got dressed in the dark.
28:51It's too much going on, and I'm confused as to why she's pairing those things together.
28:57It didn't really go together, but it went together in a way.
29:01Where?
29:01But I think the sewing's great.
29:02It's annoying.
29:03I don't understand the taste level.
29:06I feel like I'm on a bad ride.
29:09You put in a lot of work.
29:11I wish you would have put a little more work in conceiving it, because it feels like it
29:16just happened without any planning.
29:18It did.
29:19It did?
29:20Yeah.
29:21Don't admit it.
29:22This is very obvious.
29:24Thank you, Brick.
29:25Laurence, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
29:28When we were inside the ride, there was this little creature that was spitting water at us,
29:32but it looked like the sleeves, so I decided to use that and make a bomber jacket.
29:36And also, I was inspired by the khaki that the actress was wearing with a little black tank.
29:41Wow.
29:43Yet again, very intelligently, you are showing us your brand.
29:50I think this is Kong-tastic.
29:53It looks polished.
29:54It looks poised.
29:56You are fierce on a sewing machine.
29:58The pieces look finished.
29:59She looks chic.
30:00I can see the safari influence.
30:02I like this Michael Jackson red.
30:04The models obviously feels real good.
30:06You could tell.
30:07You know, there's something a little funny in the crotch happening.
30:09I messed up.
30:10I mean, it maybe looks more like it's for a boy.
30:12Can I see the back?
30:14Very cool.
30:15The quilting's beautiful.
30:17The construction looks really interesting.
30:19Can we see the jacket off?
30:21Is that a jersey?
30:23What kind of jersey?
30:23I think it's a cotton jersey.
30:25Could you turn?
30:26Cute.
30:27If somebody were walking down the street, my eyes would follow her.
30:30We know my allergic reaction to what I called poopy pants.
30:34These don't look like poopy pants.
30:36These look like she's hot to trot.
30:37Bravo.
30:38Merci.
30:39That jacket, I think, is unbelievable.
30:41I love this look.
30:42I love this girl.
30:43I want to be this girl.
30:45I can't believe you did this in one day.
30:47She looks street smart, but it's elevated.
30:51And I love a poopy pant any time of the day.
30:54I also love the way you styled her.
30:56You just put on a pump.
30:57I love her hair wild and free.
30:59She looks great.
31:03Cornelius, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
31:06Going to Skull Island, I took the fight against King Kong and dinosaurs, as you call it.
31:12So I decided to keep it a little wild and distressed down here.
31:15And then make it a drop crotch pants, going back to the roots of hip hop dancing.
31:19So I wanted it to be a little bit more swag.
31:21That was pretty much the concept.
31:24To me, this looks like a school project.
31:26A school project?
31:28It looks like you do not know how to work a sewing machine.
31:31Her poor boobies were swimming in this top.
31:34Okay.
31:35The drop crotch jean is not looking good.
31:38All the patches are not looking good.
31:40It just is an eyesore.
31:42Okay.
31:43I agree with a lot of what you said.
31:45The top fits incredibly poorly.
31:47It's just not.
31:48It's not for me.
31:50I like it from the knees down, but the knee up, it just doesn't fit well or do her any
31:56favors.
31:57It looks sloppy.
31:59Okay.
31:59Ill-fitting and uninspired.
32:02I'm intrigued that you're bringing a denim technique of street style, but you gotta evolve it further than that.
32:08The top, the sides of the color, let's not talk about it today.
32:12Cornelius, I think you had the opposite problem that Rick had.
32:15I think you had a concept, but the execution was really bad.
32:19At least you're in the right era.
32:22It's not new.
32:23I mean, we've been wearing this for how long?
32:25It's all about the volume and it's all about that patchwork.
32:28It's back.
32:28That's a shame.
32:30Thank you, Cornelius.
32:31Yeah, no problem.
32:31Okay, we have heard what you had to say.
32:34We're going to take a closer look at your designs, have a little chat, and then I call you back
32:38onto the runway.
32:47The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 to launch their line.
32:51A year's supply of Sally beauty products along with $25,000 in cash, travel and hotel accommodations to inspiring destinations
32:59around the world from best Western hotels and resorts.
33:01A new Lexus IS from Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional
33:08makeup artist services for their debut show.
33:10A complete sewing and crafting studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery.
33:14And the winning designer and model will receive a fashion spread in Mary Claire magazine.
33:19Hi, Tim.
33:21Hello, ladies.
33:22Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi.
33:23Hello.
33:24Hello.
33:24Do you want to start with Tirza wearing Laurence?
33:28Wow.
33:29Yes.
33:29Who's back?
33:30Yes.
33:31Can I take the jacket?
33:32Look how well is this made?
33:33This is insane.
33:34She can sew.
33:35That is refreshing.
33:36How does someone do this?
33:36Magic on the machine.
33:38Smart.
33:38I love this.
33:40Even this little top here that she made for her is really cute.
33:43And the pants are fantastic.
33:45Great look.
33:48We have Laise wearing Natalia.
33:50Yes.
33:51Wow, did she come through today.
33:53Ugh, that jacket.
33:54The pockets are good.
33:56The concept, the idea is good.
33:57It was refreshing.
33:59Yes.
33:59I'd be very refreshed to see more people in street style like that.
34:03I mean, she is determined.
34:06We have Priscilla wearing Dexter.
34:09Dexter has a lot of ideas.
34:11And this look is very editorial.
34:14I love those shorts and the way they fit up top.
34:17You know, I have real issues with the fit.
34:19To me, the whole thing is silly.
34:20Military Mickey.
34:24Britt wearing Erin.
34:25What is going on with Erin?
34:28It's almost like the embroidery has become her crutch.
34:32She couldn't execute what her plan was, and I loved her plan.
34:35But this wasn't it.
34:36It looks like she has it on in reverse.
34:38It's wonky.
34:39Well, I always say one day you're in, the next day you're out.
34:44We have Paola wearing brick.
34:46Well, I can't.
34:48I appreciate the work that this took.
34:51He worked hard, but everything else is terrifying.
34:54I have no idea really who he is and what he stands for as a designer.
35:00We have Juanita wearing Cornelius.
35:03Come on.
35:05It's stereotypical to give her like a baggy jean and a tight top.
35:10And this top, it's beyond.
35:12It looks like I made it.
35:13I've never sewed in my life.
35:16Thank you, Tim.
35:18Thank you, ladies.
35:19Bye.
35:23Let's talk about the designs that we did like.
35:26It pretty much is between Laurence and Natalia.
35:29Agreed.
35:30Natalia.
35:31I'm very excited for her to be at the top this week.
35:34She's been at the bottom for the last two weeks.
35:37Oh, wow.
35:38I love this look.
35:39I want to be that girl.
35:40They're like the attitude.
35:41I want to encourage her in this direction.
35:44A young woman or an older woman can wear it and look great.
35:47She did a really good job.
35:49Laurence also did a fantastic job.
35:51She always gives us something new.
35:54Let the work speak for itself.
35:55I want to go buy that at the store.
35:57Let's talk about the ones we did not like.
36:00Erin, what is going on?
36:02The embroidery has become the crutch.
36:05She really choked.
36:06Is she really the designer that we saw in the beginning?
36:09Or is she this person?
36:11TBD.
36:12Brick.
36:12He really did work hard.
36:14Unfortunately, it was just a big old mess.
36:16Is he color blind?
36:18He had no plan for this.
36:20He has no plan.
36:20Wrong choice of fabrics, but he sure went for it and put a lot of intricacy into that top.
36:26Let's talk about Cornelius.
36:28Disaster.
36:29I think he actually thought it wasn't that bad.
36:32I love patchwork, but not when it looks like this.
36:34And there was no love in the construction or imagination of that top.
36:38Okay, have we made our decision?
36:42Let's bring them back out.
36:49The six of you had the highest and the lowest scores.
36:53One of you will be named the winner.
36:55And one of you will be out.
37:09Laurence.
37:14Congratulations.
37:15You are the winner of this challenge.
37:19And she's jumping up and down again, full of joy.
37:25Merci.
37:28Great job.
37:29You can use the runway.
37:33I'm definitely surprising myself.
37:35I'm very happy that the judges can understand my point of view as a designer.
37:39It feels dope.
37:39Dope.
37:41You took the cake?
37:43Yeah.
37:45Woo!
37:48Yay!
37:57Natalia, Dexter, you're both in.
38:00You can leave the runway.
38:01Thank you, everyone.
38:08Erin.
38:11You're in.
38:12You can leave the runway.
38:18Rick.
38:20Cornelius.
38:22One of you will be out.
38:29Cornelius.
38:29Cornelius
38:35You're in
38:40You can leave the runway, thank you
38:53Wah
