00:00hey guys welcome back to the prices once again this is your host and gamer today
00:06we are going to be doing a movie review and i'm going to be reviewing the batman
00:13okay so it's been a while since the movie come out and i've been sort of like i wouldn't say
00:18excited to see but very curious to see them how the movie plays out to see how it goes and i
00:26thought i'd let it sit in to marinate a little bit so i could think about the movie because
00:32this is a very deep movie um it's first of all it's three hours long so it's a long ass movie i
00:39had to take quite a bit of pit stops it's not an origin story to say like what some people would
00:43have thought based off watching um you know some of the early trailers it's not okay the origins
00:51already established this is basically taking place you know like in a sense of like a sequel
00:58that's not a sequel you know you already know what his backstory his parents passed away but now you're
01:06here to see okay what's going on in gotham with these villains and i did it was going very good
01:15actually okay now to start off the whole premise of this is that there's a recent string of you know
01:24like murders that was going on as of late involving the riddler and batman turns up and he has to try
01:31and like okay solve this figure the riddles you know it's sort of like the old 90s batman you know he
01:40has to try and figure out the riddles these puzzles and all that other stuff but it's not comedic it's
01:46all very serious so much so it gives you a lot of seven values which i've seen a lot of other people
01:54brought up in comparisons this movie feels very much like seven and i think that was pretty much
02:00intentional but i'll get to that in a minute okay what the whole thing is these murders are going on
02:06he has to try and uncover them and you know you see all these other characters get involved you know
02:11the penguin um cat woman all these other characters right you get to see this whole picture unfold you
02:20know in gotham and basically basically a curtain coming off right you see the ugly head and you realize
02:29this this city is not what it seems in a sense and all of this is happening with the riddler you know
02:40claiming to expose the corruption and to tell the truth and for a moment it was getting really good
02:49might add you know the first two acts in this movie is very superb it's it's really when you get into the
02:56the third act where it sort of like stumbles a little bit not too much to where it's completely
03:02fumbled the whole movie but it's stumbles a little bit where you definitely notice the shortcomings
03:08and that's what i'm gonna get into in a minute okay but first off i'm gonna just get into the cast
03:14here a little bit you have robert panson as batman bruce wayne okay now this is obviously gonna be
03:22the elephant in the new majesty you know seeing the early photos and everything he didn't really had
03:27much expectations for his batman if not any at all but it did slowly grow new to the movie as i was
03:39watching i said okay you know it's it's workable you know he manages to at least portray the character
03:49in a way that works for the story being told right this investigative story um his bruce wayne which
03:56i was really interested in seeing it's it's actually pretty good i'd say his bruce wayne is better than
04:03his batman you know his bruce wayne end up being like more of the highlight in terms of the uh movie
04:09on the storyline but that is my take though now colin farrell as penguin this guy was definitely the
04:16handlet of the movie i wouldn't say he was like the complete showstopper but he definitely stole
04:23every scene he was in i imagine if he gave him more scenes in the movie he would probably be like
04:29the the joker for this version of batman because colin farrell did a really good job getting
04:37engrossed and you know consumed into that character especially in like you know the makeup and everything
04:44very well done farcone um jon toro he did a pretty good job portraying that character he does what
04:51he does best you know being jon toro very good and the story is going very good with him then there's
05:00zoe kravitz as catwoman i'm not gonna lie she was definitely wasn't feeling it for her in terms of like
05:08acting she was like okay for the story but for the whole movie i just wasn't seeing her as catwoman
05:15like if you call her another character i wouldn't have really think much about it i just don't really
05:20see her as being catwoman because i think it's more to do with how she looks with the batman in the
05:30scenes you know she's nowhere near michelle pfeiffer or even um anne hathaway for that matter right but
05:39not to say she's a terrible actor she might she do okay with what she got but she's definitely not
05:47a standout or anything like that then there's paul dano as the riddler and this guy i'd say he's
05:57pretty damn good you know i know a lot of people say he was sort of like the best part in the movie
06:04i won't go as far as i said but i will say he was definitely very close like up there next to penguin
06:11in terms of acting you know paul dano he really did manage to you know provide a new more realistic
06:21grounded take with the character as opposed to jim carrey's more comedic insane take paul dano does
06:29a really good job here with what he has and you know he really makes you believe that he is the
06:33riddler and you also have jeffret as gordon and he was okay as gordon you know um excusing the whole
06:42race swapping stuff he manages to portray gordon pretty well you know he has some pretty good scenes
06:50of the batman and it was actually overall pretty good in my opinion nothing like really um to take
06:57home over i mean you all know that the best commissioner gordon is gary oldman but you know
07:04jeffrey red does pretty good here i will give it to him last but not least there is andy circus as
07:10alfred i say this one for last because she didn't really have much scenes in the movie as despite being
07:18alfred you know bruce is a very important takeout character in the story but i will say though he
07:28his acting is pretty good here he really plays alfred
07:33so yeah going back into the story and why i had my main gripes with it in you know the third act is that
07:42throughout the whole movie it's presented itself as a this sort of thriller um investigative thing
07:49like kind of like seven it's really playing off at that angle and for the most part it was going
07:56pretty good you know you you see these characters trying to solve the different puzzles and then they
08:03wanted to solve problems
08:04there's fights breaking out with the penguin and you know then there's the fighter with this character
08:12and you even get some really impressive chase sequences on the batmobile and it all looks pretty
08:21good it's shot very well displayed very well um a bit too much in the dark though i think i could have
08:31you know brightened up a little bit because some of the scenes kind of thing to look at but it was going
08:39pretty good when you get into the third act you know that the whole premise for orbit was that was
08:44about exposing corruption
08:48that's the whole thing of you know the riddler right he wants to like expose the ugly head and gotham
08:57because he views all these characters as you know all them part of the system and they're all part of
09:04the problem in a sense right and through that you have all this sort of like conflict going on that's
09:11brewing especially at the police department where you realize some of these guys they're definitely not on
09:19the good side and in a way it seems like gordon is the only um good guy left you know
09:31right and the whole story is going pretty good but then when you get into the third act where you
09:36sort of see things sort of turn around a bit right and this is going into spoiler territory but then again
09:42the movie's been out for over a month so you've been warned okay but in the third act they reveal
09:51the identity of the riddler and then they capture them right and he's put away in arkham asylum while
09:59they try to do a little bit more investigations about who this guy is and you know why he was going
10:07on to do all this stuff and then they came across this sort of other thing that was going on in
10:12relation to the to the mayor the election right because all this is going on during the election
10:17year and you have the mayor running for election who happens to win and then there's this huge bombing
10:26happening at the sea walls that caused this massive flooding throughout all of Gotham city
10:31uh i mean like water was just flown everywhere Gotham basically became drowned in like water it literally
10:42like turned into like i don't know the aftermath of a tsunami or something and underneath this right
10:50all is happening the batman he has to like try and go in and save the people who are drowning or whatever
10:56because there's assassins in the area who are trying to take out the people during the flooding so he has to
11:03try and stop them and you know the action sequences are done pretty well you know everything's shot pretty
11:10well it looks pretty good and then he he swoops down in realizing he has all these people who are drowning
11:19here in the area he still has to like save them all right so he swoops in and he saves them and
11:27there's that scene that you see in the trailer where he's holding the the red flame thing that's
11:32pretty much the scene where he's saving them you know and escorting them out to like safety and such
11:38and pretty much the movie wraps up from there right with you know the ending whatever stuff
11:44the thing about it though is that it sort of undermines the whole message about what the
11:53riddler was going with you know exposed the corruption because it was getting pretty damn good you know
11:59he had some really um interesting stuff that was showed there with bruce wayne and you know his family's
12:07past you know his family's legacy and it all just felt like it was throwaway you know the whole corruption
12:16angle all that build up like it was somehow a bit pointless because you see this stuff happens here on
12:25this side and it pretty much overshadows what the whole point of you know the movie's plot itself right
12:35it really doesn't make sense and it's really interesting because they played so hard into that
12:44angle of you know the movie seven where you have the cut and to end it on that note it would have been
12:52like really underwhelming and so when you think about i can understand why they went this far i just
12:59felt like it wasn't really worth it as the you know given the build up with the storyline being told
13:08um not saying it was done it was like very bad it was still well shot it was still well acted well
13:17directed everything it's just that it felt like it wasn't really suited for the storyline i felt like
13:24they probably could have done more with the corruption angle like go deeper in terms of like you know the
13:30stuff that falcon was talking about with you know thomas wayne and how he knew them and all that other
13:36stuff they could have gone really deep with this but i felt like they didn't want to before because of the
13:42the rating you know this movie felt like it could have been a really really good r-rated thriller
13:50right but it just mean like a very good pg-13 thriller right that's what it is
14:00you know and it sounds very disappointing when you put it like that believe me i know the feeling but
14:09it's still a good experience overall okay now onto the technical stuff for the anime movie
14:14the acting like i just said earlier all the actors did a pretty good job they really managed to capture
14:24characters pretty well with some miners there that wasn't really that much good but overall pretty good
14:32the directing was very well done matt reese proved here that he was a good choice to direct this movie
14:42not gonna lie i can see him doing a whole trilogy with this sort of direction
14:46the visuals the visuals the visuals the cinematography by grad frazier it's very well done this is a very
14:57good looking movie the scenes look very good for the most part and some of them they were a bit too dark
15:05but overall the majority of them were pretty damn well shot and very well you know executed
15:16the soundtrack by michael gashino he really manages to capture the essence of batman with his team
15:25some of his team does a callback to the 90s batman much like how he his work on the spider-man
15:32homecoming team right is a callback to some of the old spider-man series
15:37however the problem here with this is that
15:40not the whole soundtrack is pretty good there are some teams in the movie where the soundtrack
15:47kind of fell short you know and there was others where it was actually very much on point
15:53so his consistency with the soundtrack it's not really there but there is more positive than negative
16:00i'll give him that while the runtime for the movie is three hours it wasn't paced badly much like
16:06with justice league the pacing was okay for the one with how long the movie was but it still could
16:12have like you know taken out some parts here and there you know if you probably re-watched the movie
16:19you can probably see more oh i'm talking about like some scenes that couldn't have been in there you
16:25know you could have taken that out in fact you could probably taken out like what 15 to 20 minutes of
16:32this movie is then you still have a very long two and a half hour movie still right nothing is badly
16:39paced though it's just that some scenes it just didn't really serve the purpose in a movie in my
16:43opinion right but overall that really sums up my um review here on the batman right guys um
16:52if i would have rated this i would have rated like an 8.4 or 8.5 out of 10 somewhere around there you know
17:02it's it's very good i can't really deny the talent and also that i went to this movie but at the same time
17:11it's not perfect it could have been perfect you know just that there's some little stuff here and
17:17there you know that could have been ironed out um and there's some little stuff there like you know
17:24with this toilet that you could have delivered a work on and would have definitely nailed this to the
17:31ground but overall so far it's very good it's very much worth a watch all right but that's which my
17:40opinion though guys i'm looking at what you think in the comment section down below on the batman right
17:47do you like it do you hate it where do you think it ranks in terms of the all the batman moves that
