00:00Hey guys welcome back to Uniparises once again this is your host to Uniparises and today is going to be doing a quick discussion.
00:10Ok now today is going to be doing a quick discussion something that popped up recently that I wasn't expecting to be honest.
00:18This completely took me by surprise for the right and wrong reasons.
00:23Let me explain ok. I've been a long time fan of this series to put it lightly.
00:33You know I've been playing it since I was literally in school and literally a part of my childhood you can say.
00:40Bear with me I was part of the crowd that wanted to see it come back.
00:45But seeing what is going on right now sort of really put me at odds and questioning whether or not if it was worth it.
00:57A lot of people being changed saying wow finally Dead Space is coming back and you know in theory I would actually be alongside with them.
01:07Because I'm a huge fan of the series you know it's been a long time since I've played them though but I played them way back.
01:16The first Dead Space game was the thing the first horror game to actually perform on a level of those big franchise games in a sense.
01:25And it was a new thing that came out it wasn't a franchise thing back then although it quickly became a franchise thing afterwards.
01:34Seeing the success from it because of the company EA you know they're just being EA as usual you know.
01:44It's just like in the DNA to fuck up a good franchise to put it lightly.
01:51So here's a rundown of why I don't support this Dead Space coming back even though it was something that I've wanted forever.
02:04At the time when the first game came out it was the studios known as just another EA department called Redwood Souls.
02:15But the success of the first Dead Space game was what turned the studio into, they cannot be known today, official games.
02:24And in a way it became EA's best mother since EA owned the studio and being the first drawn out in the company you know.
02:32It was going places and Dead Space 2 was the same situation.
02:38First of all you see a couple years later, bigger and better, it was still the same stuff as the first one you know.
02:47Got good reviews, everyone still liked it and what not.
02:50Despite the game being successful follow up, it ends up revealed to have actually been a financial disappointment.
03:00And aside from that nonetheless, Visible still got the goal to make the third one Dead Space 2 which I believe was the new and coffin for the franchise.
03:12This was where they fucked it up, they tried to make it more normy-ish in a way, typically likely.
03:21Though they wanted to become more action-ish, more like an FPS shooter than the FPS horror that it's supposed to be.
03:31Because of that, it ended up doing a lot less than the second one.
03:36Which, like I said, what led to the franchise getting axed.
03:40Now, first and foremost, I have to say, at the time, EA, they were still doing lip service here at all.
03:50The franchise, they still want to go back to it.
03:53Now, years later in 2017, it was revealed that EA made the decision to close of Visible's.
03:59As, here in Visible's closure, the company being shut down wasn't about anything to do with single player versus multiplayer.
04:07It was, apparently, based on feedback and marketing trends.
04:14Which I found really interesting because, you know, it's not really Visible's for everything around when it comes to Dead Space 2.
04:21They were just doing what they do best.
04:24You know, make a continuation of the series and follow up from the first and second one and build upon it.
04:31It was really EA's fault for trying to take something that was new and very well popular at the time.
04:41And trying to turn into something else that's not what she ended up leading to the ultimate demise of what was once considered to be a very great new IP at the time.
04:57Finding out that stuff really, really bad taste not because at the time I thought, okay, the studio is trying some new stuff and it didn't work out.
05:07But now reading up all the stuff I've come to realize that it wasn't the studio trying to do something new.
05:14It was really just corporate meddling from the high ups who wanted to make something else out of this series that caused its downfall.
05:26And with that being said, I sort of like we despised the idea of seeing the franchise come back knowing what we know now.
05:36And seeing this, you know, trailer come out of nowhere, what's better it says, it's in development, right?
05:44So this isn't anything that's final stages.
05:48This is like probably mid stage, I guess, based on what the trailer is showing us.
05:54It's nothing spectacular to be honest outside of maybe the quality you can say because looking at it, it's pretty much just the first game.
06:08But being we make better lighting and maybe some better designs here and there, you know, better textures in a sense.
06:19Which, to be honest, I find to be a very cheap cop out thing to do.
06:25Like, if you're going to make Dead Space, like, if you're going to return to a franchise like Dead Space, at least try to do a sequel or something.
06:37You know, give the base something original.
06:41Don't try to remake it, you know.
06:44That's not what I wanted to begin with.
06:48That's what I wanted to take them to go back to the franchise and give the next one, you know, like, a fourth game that I was hoping for from the start.
06:58Well, the very least is a spin-off, but a remake, like, seriously.
07:05And if I'm being honest, I can see exactly why they would rather pick a remake than a sequel spin-off.
07:15Because, recently, if you guys have noticed, there have been a sort of uptick in remakes as of late.
07:25I seem to have done very well for them.
07:27I'm not interested in experiencing a story again in, like, a different way.
07:34I want to see new stories or at least a continuation of a story or something.
07:40Not the same thing told in a different way, you know.
07:42I played the original and, you know, that was good enough for me, right?
07:46This is not what I signed up for.
07:48I asked for a sequel.
07:51Made a sequel or even at the very least a spin-off or a reboot, but definitely not a remake.
07:58This whole situation with them doing this, it sort of made me...
08:05It actually did something I didn't expect, to be honest.
08:09It actually made me not want to see the franchise come back.
08:15Thinking about it, like.
08:17And this isn't me saying that it's going to be terrible or anything like that.
08:21I'm just going to give a heads up right away.
08:25Disclaimer.
08:26I don't think the game is going to be bad.
08:29It's probably going to be good enough.
08:31When it comes out, you know, it's going to get good reviews.
08:34It's probably going to have the normies and everyone clinging towards it and solve the nostalgic fans.
08:42They're going to get a high over it for a couple of weeks or whatever.
08:47I am totally aware of that and I agree with it.
08:52But I'm just not going about taking it with them.
08:56Because this is not what I asked for when I wanted the franchise to come back.
09:01I wanted something more.
09:05Not the same old.
09:07But that's just my take on it, Harper.
09:11Let me know what you think in the comment section down below.
