00:00hey guys welcome back to the princess once again this is your host and today we're going to be

00:15talking about a little film on netflix that just came out uh nothing too big just a little film

00:25that basically became the finger snap of netflix you know the thanos finger snap that when i thought

00:36half of you married this is basically the equivalent of that for netflix and you know at first i didn't

00:43actually want to go and check out this movie because from the trailer and such i was already

00:52in agreement with everyone that this is a huge no like you don't need to explain anything else

00:58the trailer spoke for itself but then we got to the release date it actually came out

01:05and you know aside from the critic reviews you started hearing all these people on youtube

01:10and all these articles coming out about it and people like arguing that it's worse than

01:16what the trailer said and then you have these weird people popping up and actually defending

01:21the movie and giving these sort of weird talking points and i'm not gonna lie it actually got

01:29from my interest it went to getting my attention and wanted me to check it out to see what was all

01:37the hoopla in this controversial movie of 2020 was it as bad as people are saying it ought to be

01:46well maybe there was just something about that was misunderstood thinking about i think there is a

01:52point to be made here in that summer and in the middle and i'll explain in a minute but first i just

02:00want to give a disclaimer this is not an official movie review as what i usually do with my other

02:07movies and that's mainly because i didn't watch this movie as i did with every other movie review

02:16and the reason why is because well it's kind of obvious when you look at the trailer and you see

02:22or certain scenes that portraying stuff yeah there are certain parts in this movie that you have to

02:29basically like skip over for a genuine reasons that you basically already know and because of that

02:37you can't actually rate this movie in a sense of a review in perspective i'm just going to basically

02:43talk about the the plot of the film the the message behind it and the overall controversy around it

02:53and that's pretty much it right now what is the plot of this movie cuties well the plot is basically

03:03about this little girl called amy an immigrant from senegal she lives with her mother and her brothers in

03:11this slap right and they are basically of the muslim faith right it's very clear in this movie you see her

03:23and her mother they have this polygons husband that's coming home and he has his second wife with him

03:33you know as per with the muslim culture stuff that's in line with their beliefs that's this is usually

03:43basically like the your usual introduction to your character like nothing wowing here but it's

03:50interesting at first because you see this character and you see the family and you're curious to know what

03:56what goes on with them then they see her getting interested in her neighbors who's doing this

04:03cuties as they call it style dance it's basically like on the parallel it's drawing between

04:13that and her religious values and tradition as you know when it comes to muslim faith

04:20none of this is in any way acceptable right if you've seen this happen and then you see find out the

04:26the team practicing for a competition and they don't really care much about people's perception of them

04:33as how they dress you know they're revealing outfits and they're basically trying to follow

04:41in the image of the the older competitors in the same competition even though it's basically for like

04:49that more of an adult stuff now after being tempted by the social media hype stuff she decides to

05:01start doing sorry sexually that's most in the choreography stress to go along with this

05:09crowd and in like some other movies convene that her thought process that these girls who are here

05:15doing this they feel free of the whole stuff in contrast with parents and religion she sees this as

05:27freedom in a sense which in a way it does come as islamophobic even though it may not be actively

05:34chanting but it does give that as a message then you get to the part in the story where

05:40she is going down the spot these girls doing these weird stuff right they're training and they're doing

05:47this dance moves for this competition and you've seen them like they're doing these weird dance moves

05:57all sexy and all that stuff you see in the camera look it zooms in on them as like focus on all over

06:03the body and it's you know exactly what it's meant for what's intentions are when it's doing that when

06:11the filmmakers are doing it in that way it's not focusing on the overall story it's just using that as

06:20a scapegoat for him to just basically do all this weird sexual stuff with this these little small

06:27children basically and it gets to this one scene that really irks me and it kind of reminds me of

06:36another movie which i'll adjust in a second we have this scene where she basically locks herself in the

06:46bathroom because she takes the guy phone then the iron and about the phone she locks up the bathroom

06:54tries to get it back from her and she basically pulls down her you know skirt and just takes a picture

07:02of her you know what and then she just poses it up there for people to see and you think about it like

07:11who the hell even wrote this let alone actually film this thinking it was a good idea i mean you know

07:22you get you know the scene is meant to like make you feel uncomfortable which reminds me of watching

07:30the joker you know there are scenes in that movie that's meant to convey you an unsettling feeling to

07:38make you uncomfortable even if it's not entirely necessary i was getting the idea maybe that's what she's

07:48trying to do here and that she was just using this whole thing to try and convey that but i just think

07:56to myself like it was so unnecessary to be honest but then it continues off and then you know it

08:02tried it goes more to the story with the characters and then you get to the part where in the third act

08:09right where you have the crazy shit that everyone's actually ragging about where the girls they they get

08:17into the um the competition but the damn security guards are not letting them in so they decide to

08:23sneak in and the whole scene with the security guard it's already wearing itself right you know they're

08:29calling a pedophile and they're dancing in front of them and it's like so cringe it's actually more cringe

08:37than um unsettling at that point and then you know you get to the scene where they get on stage and you

08:47know you get to see that they're teasing their children where all of them are dancing on stage

08:51and you're like what in the actual am i watching at this point because it's like really like what in the

09:02actual hell if you're actually seeing it if you actually match your stomach your way through the

09:11whole scene where you'll be like who in the hell in the right mind even thought this was a good idea

09:19to basically write it in film let alone even film it you you can tell it gets so uncertain and so where

09:28it's basically like one step away from being you know softcore cp it was actually that on up there

09:38i don't know it was intended to like maybe toe the line to see how far the filmmakers can get away with

09:46doing certain things you know putting certain things in the movie she just actually the director

09:52actually genuinely felt that was a necessary thing to use to convey her story or i can see it was

10:02totally out of line and totally unnecessary and it reminds me of the joke the whole time i was trying

10:10to like watch this and figure it out and throughout the whole time i was couldn't help but think about

10:17the joke and compare it to that movie even though they're two completely different types of movies in

10:24terms of the subject matter and their genres and everything they share a striking similarities in

10:32terms of the way they reacted to in terms of the audience the reception towards it all that stuff

10:40because you know when the joke came out if you actually had a chance to see that movie in the

10:46theaters like i did and experience it for it to it actually is and what it's about you'd realize it's

10:52nothing like what all the press was making it ought to be to be a big hoopla you know the movie wasn't

10:59that way it was being vastly misinterpreted by all of these people that were ragging about the movie

11:06before it came out and when you watch a movie like there are certain scenes in there that gets under your

11:12skin but it does it in the way that that feels relevant to the message being put out in the overall

11:20movie in terms of society and that stuff as opposed to here this movie it's more straightforward to

11:28begin with it's not like the joker you know where it's that controversial it's more straightforward idea

11:36the idea of sexualizing children and that kind of stuff that's not really much of a disagreement

11:43there you know you that's so that the majority exclusive majority of people i can agree on so

11:50there's not really much you can you really have to put in there to just sway people but somehow this

11:56movie feels that it needs to have that you know the filmmaker needs to actually have these sort of

12:04weird over the top unsettling scenes in there to help convey her message and it's at a point

12:13where the message ends up trumping the movie's overall story which is a huge issue when it

12:22comes to films nowadays i actually gonna have a separate video on that subject matter because

12:28that's a whole other thing itself you know it comes to message versus story yeah this one suffers

12:35greatly from that you know the story is actually been about this girl and this family that seems

12:42very oppressive and now she wants liberation that story and its meaning is lost because this message

12:49and this idea of these girls doing all these stupid things when you actually sit down you think about

12:56it you realize it's not that far off from reality almost in a way like the joker which is not that far

13:04from reality especially right now it's just that this film with the stuff that's happening you really

13:12didn't need to go to the extent to do that and like some movies they can like make justifications as

13:19to why they have to do the extra unsettling stuff in their films but this is one of those films that

13:28doesn't need to to have that because the message in it is is it that hard to get across to people

13:37well it shouldn't be can't really be certain now nowadays you have these crazy weirdos called maps now and

13:46all these other people just roaming around the internet so yeah overall i had to sum it up you

13:54know my thoughts on this movie it is definitely a waste of time waste of money waste of film and it

14:02shouldn't have existed but it does and here we are you know complaining about it because some people just

14:11really think that this is actually worth spending money on sadly especially netflix but i don't think

14:20they'll be having those thoughts anymore now with that huge star trap but i'm overall to sum it up

14:28curious very bad idea hey also a pretty fairly interesting story there you know about in the

14:38the whole family aspect uh she was just wasted with the bad idea and this intention for something else

14:47it sucks man you actually have something that you can work with but you just get too lost and trying

14:55to tell this this message over the either story and you just basically lose all your footing i think

15:03that's just basically the whole part with this whole netflix cutie's dog much going on uh this is my

15:11opinion that is um yeah overall i put some of my thoughts on that film right and as i said earlier i'm not

15:17going to wait this because i don't see this as a regular movie view i don't see this as how i view my

15:26movies regularly i had to just cut through the movie just to see what the hoopla is about if it's really

15:34that big a deal that pretty much being said um it's not a big deal it's just a lot of noise and that's

15:44pretty much my take on it right but let me know what you guys think about it in the comment section down
