00:00Hey guys, welcome back in the past. Once again, this is your host on the game and today's video
00:05I'm gonna be doing it another
00:08movie review and this time I'm gonna be doing one of the
00:12All-time greats probably one of the greatest movie made in the history of cinema
00:17But I'm gonna be reviewing the Godfather
00:21Okay, now it's been 50 years, right?
00:25This marks the 50th year since the original Godfather came out and
00:30I'd say now it's a pretty good time to dive into the movies, right?
00:33I've only seen bits and pieces of the film because it's a long movie that's three hours long
00:41So I had to make time to watch this one right and I
00:47Did and I got to finish watch it and I have my opinions on it
00:53It really is a movie that people says it is okay now
00:57Now
00:59The way it started the story
01:03Everything to it had that quality cinema feel that you don't really see anymore in movies made nowadays
01:08But it's like an actual movie. It's not green screen CGI or whatever, you know
01:16Overuse of special effects the story basically
01:19is this right it's a story about these mafias these different
01:27Gangs going up against each other
01:30It starts off here this big wedding right they introduce these characters, you know the Godfather and these other characters doing their stuff
01:38and
01:40It's really interesting because there's nothing much here. Just these family members interact with each other
01:46At this big wedding for the Godfather's daughter
01:50and it's very
01:52documentary like
01:54Much like Raging Bull, right?
01:56There's just something to it that keeps you engaged
02:00Even though there's no action. There's no spectacle just text at a wedding
02:04and
02:06When you have this movie
02:08You guys all movie takes off right this is how they introduce everything then you get to the source subplot where you see
02:15Johnny seeks to join a movie cast
02:19They go to persuade the studio head of that studio to like give him the part
02:25And let's just say it didn't end well for the studio head right they had a little bit squabble over that
02:29And then it didn't end well for the studio head. It's interesting because this is like a subplot and gets wrapped up very quickly
02:36But what it does is it shows you the whole
02:40dynamics of these
02:44Corleone family and all these other families are these dawns how they operate
02:50Right you get an idea here like okay. This is what they're about. They don't make no joke
02:56So I think it's a pretty interesting use of like a subplot
02:59You know to get you a
03:02A bit of a demonstration of what's to come now you get to the Christmas season, right because why not everybody loves Christmas, right?
03:10So you have this whole squabble over Vito
03:13You know he interacting with the other guys the other dawns from their families and they had a soul
03:22like squabble over investing into the narcotics business and
03:26And the whole benefits and downside of this right and it it leads to some friction amongst the other families most specifically with their Tata Gallia
03:35Which leads to Vito getting gunned down and Hagen getting kidnapped
03:41So
03:42Things start to get really serious here, right?
03:44And then I found this you see
03:47Sony he's the the first one right he ends up taking command afterwards and this is really starts to get interesting, right?
03:53You see all these guys these younger guys under the Godfather
03:56They're coming up they're taking the reins and you see more of these other people who are out to get them
04:02You even see Michael, right?
04:04Who's the young of them coming to the free so you get to see all these families operate with each other
04:10How the relationships are with each other and the government or the politicians, right?
04:16And it's not born by any means. This is actually what makes it really special, right?
04:20It's still good, right? The whole time I'm watching it, I'm still hooked, right? I'm actually
04:27Remember when I was watching it
04:30I was hooked because I was interested to see what comes next
04:34That's really
04:36Really good because it's very hard to pull this off right to keep your audience interested in a movie that's
04:41It's not sold on action. It's sold on like drama
04:48Crime drama stuff. So yeah, this is actually going pretty good, right?
04:55And I mentioned the character Michael because he's like the up underdog. Yeah, he comes the he rises to the occasion
05:03And you see him climb into the top of the family, right as soon he gets killed off
05:08And then Vito, you know the godfather gets older he retires from a position
05:14So you see Michael as he matures throughout the show
05:18Because you know, he has to it because he eventually takes the reign
05:23And he takes over for Vito's place
05:26So you see him from his first appearance in the movie towards the end of the movie where it's like, oh, he's
05:33There are some changes here
05:35All right, it's no joke
05:37Because you know, he's the head of the family and it becomes all businesses at the end of the family
05:43But yeah
05:46Sometime
05:47Sure the story here
05:49Vito the godfather he has a heart attack and then he dies
05:52And it's pretty crazy you think about it, right?
05:55He's just sitting here playing with one of the
05:58little kids
05:59At a park, whatever, showing him some sort of
06:03Toy trick
06:04He starts coughing and just dies
06:05Pretty sad
06:07But yeah
06:08Following his death, things really start to go downhill
06:10There's like a whole bunch of more drama stop taking place
06:14During the funeral, right?
06:15This is what's crazy
06:17Michael's relationship gets betrayed by a lot of
06:21Other people close to him
06:22So he goes out and orders Hitman to kill a huge amount of family members
06:32During the baptism of their newborn
06:36Like it's crazy, like while the newborn is being baptized
06:39There's a whole amount of thoughts of these people getting gone down
06:43And from here I know the movie, it starts to wrap up by tying up loose ends
06:49So said at least
06:51But um
06:53You see with you know Michael and you know his wife
06:56And they're talking about the truth
06:58And that's really much it, right?
07:01This is the story pretty much ends there
07:03And I know that I left out quite a bit of other parts in the story
07:09Because this is a three hour long movie and there's a lot of details in this film
07:15And I can't really go all into that because this could easily be a hour long video
07:22But just know this was just like the the beginning of the soul story
07:26With the Corleone family and Michael taking the place
07:30He really dug it, right?
07:32Everything about it
07:33The story, the characters, the acting, the pacing
07:36Everything here all works
07:37And nothing feels weak or poorly done
07:41This is about as cinematic as you can get, bro
07:44The whole cast is about as perfect as you can get here for a full cast
07:50Especially Brando and Pacino
07:53They really own their worlds here
07:55Especially with what they were given
07:57Like these are the two standouts
08:00And it's not to take away from the other actors in this movie
08:04Because all these other actors like Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, and these other actors and actresses
08:12They did a pretty good job as well
08:15Not taking anything away from them
08:18But damn, these guys really nailed it
08:21The directing is literally perfect
08:26You know what Francis Ford Coppola
08:29He literally reimagined cinema with the directing here
08:34Like there's not a single imperfection in terms of directing
08:39And this is the cinematography
08:41The cinematography is pitch perfect
08:44Like this is what defines cinematography when you, you know, think of like cinematography in movies and video
08:53It has a documentary sort of feel to it
08:58Even though it's not really a documentary, but it's still a movie
09:01And it's executed very well
09:06The acting like I said is a 10 out of 10 performance of the acting
09:13Clearly the soundtrack is superb
09:17It's pretty much like very iconic too
09:20So like yeah, technically speaking this movie is like an A plus technically
09:23In fact probably almost overall
09:29This movie is like A plus straight across the board
09:33Except for probably one issue
09:37Right?
09:38And I know I'm probably going to be nitpicking the hell out of it thinking about it
09:42But this movie is three hours
09:47And you know as I'm like thinking over it
09:52You know the story, the plot
09:55Even though it's like it's almost perfect
09:59There was something I really had gripes with
10:02One of the scenes in the movie actually
10:04And that was the one with the
10:08You know the sub-plot about the whole movie starting
10:11And him not getting a role
10:13And the studio heads having butts with the Amino
10:17The Carlone family over that
10:18That was pretty much a throwaway stuff
10:22It wasn't really like a main thing
10:24Like if you're looking through all the scenes in the movies
10:28You could easily just wipe out that whole sub-plot
10:31And this movie would be like pretty much
10:35Normal stage 2
10:37Thinking about it right?
10:40And I know that probably sounds a lot like a nitpick
10:43Because you know the scene is not a bad scene
10:45It's a good scene
10:47But thinking about it that's probably
10:50In terms of what where the movie has faults
10:54That you can fix
10:56I'll take that out
10:58Because remember this is a three hour movie right?
11:01So it's quite a bit to get into
11:04But yeah
11:05With that being said
11:06Other than that like one scene which
11:08The movie could have done without
11:12This is about as perfect as you can get
11:16I'll have to give the godfather
11:18A 9.7-ish out of 10
11:24Like thinking about it
11:25I'd say it's perfect right?
11:27You know I was debating on giving it a little reading
11:31From that you know scene
11:34That I was talking about
11:35You know the movie star scene
11:36But I was like nah that sounds a bit petty
11:40Because
11:41It's not a bad scene
11:44By any means right?
11:45It's just that it doesn't really
11:47Feel like it needed to be in the movie in my opinion
11:52So if you took that out the point
11:54You could have gotten a full perfect 10 from my perspective
11:58But
12:00Still 9.7 is about as perfect as you can get
12:03That's like the highest rating I've given a
12:05Movie
12:07Other than what
12:09Taxi driver
12:11Yeah this is
12:13Really up there guys
12:15And it's
12:17Definitely worth watching
12:20I'd actually recommend this to anyone
12:23Especially the younger audience right
12:25The younger people don't really know what real cinema is
12:28Because they've been like
12:29So caught up with all of these superhero movies
12:32These
12:33You know
12:34Action movies that have been released today
12:37Some of which are good
12:38But the majority of them are bad
12:40Right
12:40So the people today haven't really warped view of cinema
12:45That's where this movie comes in
12:47So I'd recommend this movie to anyone
12:49You know
12:50It's been 50 years right since this movie come out
12:54And it still holds up well today
12:59So yeah guys that pretty much sums up my review for the
13:02Godfather guys
13:03A perfect movie
13:05But everything about it
13:08Good
13:08Great
13:09Perfect
13:10All right
13:11It really lives up to all the praise it's getting
13:15And it's definitely worth watching
13:17But let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below
13:19However
13:20Well
