06 December - National morning forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth
Transcript
00:00Good morning. You're going to want to keep an eye on the forecast this weekend.
00:04As for many of us, there is a risk of showers through much of this weekend.
00:08Now, that's not to say there won't be any drier weather.
00:10There will be some later on this afternoon across eastern areas of northern England,
00:15south-eastern Scotland, as well as parts of northern Ireland.
00:19But for most of us, showers will move in on a westerly wind,
00:23quite a brisk breeze across many western areas of Wales, south-western England.
00:27These showers bring a risk of hail and, for some of us, thunder too.
00:31But with a westerly wind, that does mean we've got milder air across the UK.
00:36So temperatures will climb to around 11 or 12 degrees.
00:39Now, across western areas, with the strength of the breeze,
00:41you're not really going to feel the benefit of that.
00:43But in any of those drier slots further north and east,
00:46it won't feel too bad at all as the winds will be slightly lighter than they were last night.
00:51Now, the showers will continue for some northern areas,
00:53particularly over the high ground this evening.
00:54But for many, it does turn drier and clearer for a time.
00:59And under clearer skies, temperatures will fall away a little bit.
01:01There will be a limited frost under the clearest slots by Sunday morning.
01:05But for most of us, a fairly mild night, particularly across the south and west,
01:09where this next batch of rain will already have moved in through Sunday morning.
01:14Temperatures are climbing into double digits to start the day on Sunday, in fact.
01:17But it's wet weather that will be the theme on Sunday morning across the west.
01:21A blanket of cloud moving in from the Atlantic and some heavy bursts of rain,
01:26particularly up through Irish Sea coast.
01:29Now, once this rain does clear the south west,
01:32it does leave in behind it a remanence of lots of cloud.
01:36But we've got very mild air moving in as well.
01:38So temperatures will be around 14 degrees across the far south west
01:41and 11 or 12 degrees across the north as well.
01:44But by Sunday afternoon, the heaviest rain will be across parts of Scotland.
01:48So there's potential for some travel disruption through this weekend with batches of rain moving in.
01:54And the wet weather doesn't stop there.
01:55We've got more rain to come into next week.
01:58It's this area of low pressure that moves up from the south and west
02:01that could potentially bring some disruption due to rain as well as strong winds.
02:05So that's one to watch throughout this weekend.
02:08And we will keep you updated, of course, all through this weekend on our YouTube channel.
02:12Have a great weekend. See you again soon. Bye-bye.
02:14Bye-bye.
