00:00Hello, a very good morning to you. Welcome to the latest update from the Met Office.
00:03Storm Bulo continues to bring heavy rain and disruptive, if not dangerous, winds across many parts of the UK, especially
00:10towards the north.
00:11Here's the picture first thing Sunday as far as wind gusts are concerned.
00:15Storm Bulo moving to the northeast of the country and it's on the southern and southwestern flank of this storm
00:21where we've got the strongest winds.
00:22The winds actually peaked overnight but will continue to see more widespread wind gusts into the 50s and 60s of
00:31miles an hour across North Wales, Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland during the rest of Sunday.
00:36So in many parts of the country, winds continuing to strengthen and for exposed parts of northern and northwestern Scotland,
00:44there's the risk of wind gusts exceeding 70 miles an hour as the day progresses.
00:49Those kinds of winds can cause significant disruption. They can be dangerous, especially around coastal areas.
00:55They bring the risk of flying debris as well as power cuts and we'll continue to see those kinds of
01:01disruptive impacts during the rest of Sunday.
01:03So stay across all the latest forecasts and travel news.
01:07Now, by the end of the day, the winds continue strengthening across the far northeast of Scotland, including Orkney, but
01:14elsewhere they begin to ease finally, albeit slowly.
01:17Here's the situation as far as warnings are concerned.
01:20Widely yellow warnings for the wind across northern parts of the country, North Wales, Northern England, northwards and fairly large
01:27amber warning throughout much of Sunday across parts of Northern England, the far north of Northern Ireland and much of
01:33Scotland away from Shetland.
01:35It's going to be blustery and showery for Shetland, but the wettest and windiest weather is expected elsewhere.
01:41And the showers merging to give longer spells of rain across the north and northeast of the mainland into Orkney
01:46by the end of the day.
01:47That's where the wettest and windiest weather will be by the end of the afternoon.
01:51Some blue skies elsewhere, but frequent showers, even some thunderstorms pushing into the rest of Scotland, Northern Ireland, as well
01:57as Northern England.
01:58Fewer showers for the southern half of the UK, sunny spells yet and a very different feel compared with Saturday's
02:05wet and windy weather, but we keep the gusty wind throughout.
02:09So it is going to be very blustery across all parts.
02:11That's going to make it feel on the cool side, 13 or 14 Celsius in the south, 10 or 11
02:16further north.
02:18As I said, it is going to turn a little quieter as Sunday comes to an end.
02:23Clear spells for a while, lighter winds, but it's only temporary because by the end of the night, the next
02:29area of rain moves into parts of Northern Ireland, Wales and the southwest.
02:33Thickening cloud elsewhere.
02:34That's going to keep things relatively mild, along with a strengthening wind.
02:38Double figures dawn on Monday, but a colder night to come towards the north and northeast.
02:43Single figures, perhaps even lower than 5 Celsius across sheltered parts of northeast Scotland.
02:48A few showers here, first thing Monday, but a bright start at least during the first few hours of the
02:53day before the cloud thickens.
02:54And here comes the next area of wet and windy weather.
02:57Some brighter colours there, indicating heavy rain for a time, and that progresses northeastwards by Monday afternoon, bringing some very
03:04soggy conditions to Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland.
03:07Further south, cloud cover remains and some drizzly showers, but a little drier, albeit with a strengthening wind.
03:14However, that wind is coming from the south and southwest.
03:17It's going to be bringing really quite mild air with it, 17 or 18 Celsius in the south, 10 to
03:2113 Celsius further north, where the mild air is yet to set in.
03:26And that rain continues into Monday evening across the north and northeast, but eventually a cold front sweeps through.
03:33And it's a very similar situation to Bulo, a repeat of Saturday, Sunday, on Monday and Tuesday.
03:40In other words, the strongest winds expected to affect northern parts of the UK and expected to arrive on the
03:46southern flank of this low on Tuesday.
03:48Risk of 70 mile per hour wind gusts, yellow warning in force for now, but of course, we'll be watching
03:54this one very closely once again, and we'll be keeping you updated right here on our YouTube channel.
03:59Bye bye.
