00:00There's more stormy weather to come as we go through this weekend, especially across northern parts.
00:06That's where we're going to see the strongest winds and amber warning out across Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and
00:10Northern England for later today and into tomorrow.
00:13That's because Storm Bulow is arriving. It's going to bring widespread rain and some very strong winds indeed.
00:20And it's quick on the tails of Storm Austin, which is now clearing away towards the east.
00:24Currently, we do have a bit of a ridge of high pressure across us, so actually many areas are starting
00:30the day on a dry note.
00:31But we have rain in the west, and that's going to quickly spill its way across all parts.
00:35So all of us will see some fairly persistent rain, particularly as we go through the afternoon.
00:40In the west, it's going to be quite heavy. Some high totals could lead to a bit of flooding in
00:44places.
00:44And nonetheless, there will be some significant spray on the roads.
00:48And it's the winds that we're perhaps most concerned about.
00:51They're really going to whip up some strong gusty winds across Northern Ireland, northern parts of England, and also Scotland
00:57through the day,
00:58strengthening as we head towards the evening.
01:01Now, temperatures are, if anything, going to be a little bit above average for the time of year.
01:05But obviously, with the wind and the rain, it's going to feel pretty unpleasant out.
01:09A very, well, different side of autumn compared to what we've seen through much of the season so far.
01:14A lot of the wet weather across England and Wales clears through as we go overnight.
01:18But a different story for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:20With the low that is below lingering just to the north of the UK, we are going to continue to
01:26see further rain at times coming through.
01:28As a result, those rainfall totals are really going to build up, perhaps in excess of 100 millimetres,
01:32when you take in the whole day's rainfall total and what we can expect through tonight over the higher ground
01:38of Scotland.
01:39And here there will be some snow over the peaks as well.
01:41Again, it's the winds that we're perhaps most concerned about.
01:45An amber warning, like I mentioned, signaling that we could see gusts of around 80 miles per hour in some
01:50exposed spots.
01:50So some impacts are quite likely.
01:53Temperatures not dropping a huge amount, as you would expect with the unsettled weather.
01:57Just about getting into single digits in the north.
01:59Many built-up areas towards the south staying in double figures.
02:03So a very windy day on the cards as we go through tomorrow for northern areas.
02:08Further outbreaks of rain could be heavy, especially for northern and northeastern parts of Scotland,
02:13and we'll continue to see those strong gusty winds whipping their way in.
02:16Whilst there will be some drier, brighter weather across other parts of Scotland and also Northern Ireland,
02:21there will also be a rash of showers piling in.
02:23Some of these could be heavy, maybe even thundery too.
02:25For England and Wales, however, a different day compared to today, really.
02:30Much drier, brighter, more sunshine for sure.
02:33And whilst it will still be quite blustery, not as windy as it will have been through today,
02:37and not as windy as it is further north as well.
02:41With that then, temperatures are on paper looking fairly similar to today,
02:44but with the sunshine and lighter winds definitely feeling a bit more pleasant,
02:48perhaps still in the north, those strong gusty winds making it feel markedly fresher than these temperatures here suggest.
02:55I wanted to take us through the winds that we can expect through the next 24, 48 hours or so.
03:01So strong gusty winds coming in, like I say, mainly across northern areas.
03:04That's where we're going to see the greatest risk of gusts.
03:06Exposed coastal parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland, some areas of Northern England,
03:10could see gusts of 60, 70 miles per hour, perhaps 80 miles per hour for a time.
03:14And where the winds are coming from changes slightly as the low pressure pushes its way through.
03:19But yes, some strong northwesterly winds coming in to parts of the north, northeast as we had later on Sunday.
03:24So just a reminder of the warnings that we do have out.
03:27Yellow wind warnings across Scotland, northern England and northern Ireland,
03:31and then an amber warning for much of Scotland, a bit of northern England and a little bit of northern
03:36Ireland too.
03:37And that's valid from 21, this 2100 this evening, so 9pm all the way until 9pm on Sunday.
03:45As we go into next week, there is a quieter spell, but a very, very short quieter spell.
03:51That's because there's another deep air of low pressure heading closer towards the UK.
03:54Currently, that looks like that's not going to be quite as deep as Bulo and tracking ever so slightly further
04:00away from us as well.
04:01Nonetheless, I do expect some further wet and windy weather to start the week before some tentative signs of something
04:08a little bit drier towards the end of the week.
04:10We'll have more on all of that across our YouTube channel throughout this weekend, so stick with us and you'll
04:15be on top of things.
04:16Bye-bye.
