00:00Good morning. A wet start for some of us and it will turn increasingly windy across northern areas as the
00:06rain pushes into the south throughout this afternoon.
00:10Quite a wet start across parts of North Wales, northern England. That rain will push south eastwards, bringing a chance
00:15of some heavier rain into the south and east just for a time as we head towards lunchtime.
00:20Then that clears and it will turn drier and brighter across much of the UK.
00:23But it is going to be increasingly windy and there will be some quite frequent downpours in particular across the
00:30far north of Scotland, but also many southern areas of Scotland, perhaps northwest England and Northern Ireland in for a
00:36chance of a heavier downpour.
00:38As I mentioned, the winds will increase. That's because low pressure is up to the north and as the ice
00:42bars tighten around there, we could see gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour for a time across the
00:47western Isles and the Highlands, but also to the lee of the Pennines.
00:50So the eastern side of the Pennines, we could see some quite gusty winds into this afternoon, which may catch
00:57you out.
00:57So do take note of that if you are heading out through this afternoon because it will be quite dry
01:01and relatively warm out of the wind.
01:04Temperatures in the low 20s for much of England and Wales, the higher teens for Northern Ireland as well as
01:10Scotland and the northwest of England as well.
01:12We're just exposed to these slightly stronger winds and a chance of more frequent showers.
01:17So it should be a dry end to the day across southern areas.
01:20It will turn clear across much of the UK overnight tonight and that will make for a much fresher night.
01:26It's been quite warm and humid recently and once that rain clears this afternoon or this evening across the south
01:32and east,
01:32you will notice a real difference to the air of it turning much fresher.
01:36So it will be a cooler start to the day.
01:37Many rural areas down into single figures, towns and cities around 10 to 13 or 14 degrees, but they have
01:44been up in the higher teens.
01:46So quite a big difference for Saturday morning.
01:49So a fresher day to come on Saturday, but quite a fine day actually.
01:52High pressure's in charge, so that does mean most areas will be dry.
01:56There's a chance of the odd shower across northwestern areas, but they don't look anywhere near as heavy as they
02:01will be through today.
02:02Cloud will thicken out to the west by the end of the day as well on Saturday.
02:07That's because low pressure is approaching for Sunday across the more western areas.
02:11But for most of us, a dry and bright day, not wall-to-wall sunshine.
02:15There will be some cloud around and it is going to be a fresh start, as I mentioned.
02:19So temperature's not climbing particularly high towards the mid-20s in the south, possibly 24 degrees.
02:24For most areas, though, we're in the low 20s or high teens, which is about average for this point in
02:31September.
02:32Then all change into Sunday from the north and west as low pressure drives up from the Atlantic.
02:37It's a deep area of low pressure, so that brings the potential for further quite strong and gusty winds across
02:43northwestern areas in particular.
02:45High pressures, though, still in charge in the south and east, so it looks dry and actually quite hot.
02:50But you can find more details on that and our full weekend forecast on YouTube.
02:54Have a good day. Bye-bye.
